When one dwells on things you will always notice the negative.......we need to look for the positive.......sometimes talking about it all the time is not a help......life is so much more...Liz

Yes sandcastle - My DH says, "It is what it is"... What keeps me focused is watching my grandkids grow up(from afar) and Rocking with God in His big rocking chair..

Nope I sure didn't - just seems to be what hubby says when we talk bills... We don't watch TV and never watched Doc Phil...

my quest now is to be able to wear some type of camisole or bra and try out prosthetics yet keeping the LE under control.  the darn expanda-a-binder I wore home and now to provide compression just does NOT work under clothing worth a darn.  not unless you want to wear larger sizes to compensate for it and the velcro front opening bunches up, etc.  grrrrr is right!

Actually, I would love to have any first lady who had LE, because she might help educate about the issue or normalize it - like Betty Ford did with her BC and drug issues. Gosh, I would love that . . . Maybe a conversation could be started about it even if she doesn't have LE (yet). Do you know long post-surgery or TX is she, Cookie?

I found an article that says Ann had a lumpie in 2008, no idea what else as I did not read the full article

Teka, surely you are teasing. I hope your LE never shows, but what does that have to do with anything? Maybe all of us with visible LE and garments should hide in a closet. Personally, I'd rather someone ask about my LE than BC, as this has been a much longer struggle and required greater mettle. Of course I want a first lady that is focused on other issues, but it never hurts to have someone in our camp on the front lines where it can get better attention. LE could be her personal issue (not that she has it, but probably needs to take precautions from getting), but it's also an issue for a lot of other women in this country. It wouldn't be anything new if a politician or wife ever used their position to forward their own views or concerns. I love Michelle's toned arms and the issues she supports, but what has she done for me lately? As Cookie said, this is not about politics. :-)

GmaFoley - I have been wearing the surgical 2" elastic surgery bra from www.marenagroup.com

I had a mastectomy of left breast.  It is NOT a mastectomy bra, but gives really good compression

and runs true to size.  I wear a 42DD and bought the 2X bra.  I have worn it 24/7 until rads when

I could no longer wear it.  It helped my LE alot.  Plus they are in the $40 price range versus so many that are outrageous!

I truly do not like people to ask....BUT....if they do I tell them....I have found that it stops them COLD...and wishing they did not ask.....I always END the conversation with.....Please do NOT feel sorry for me and my husband.....that is not what we want.................I myself would never ask a person.....I try to treat people with respect and dignity....Liz

IProudtospin - I bought one directly from Marena and two from amazon.com

They really have good stuff.  I've not been able to find anything to compare with it.

And they are made in USA!!  Imagine that!

Wow, Denise, their sleep bra looks like it would be great for LE:

    http://marenagroup.com/garmentstore/product/tabid/199/p-117-sleep-bra.aspx

Has anybody tried it? The back covers well, the straps are wide--really unusual. Looks comfortable, too! Thanks for posting that!

I am just so pleased with their products.  I think you would be as well.

Got back to my LE therapist yesterday - He took one look at my breast and said - ooooooooo you are swollen girl!  - Good news is that my arm measurements only gained a few cm since surgery... so back to my MLD and I will be good.. hopefully.

Need to ask something... For the first time in weeks I decided to get a Papa Murphy's take-n-bake pizza.. I ate it for dinner last night... today I feel very very bloated and torso seems swollen... Is that salt that did that?? I have never felt this way before... Been feeling this way all day...

GmaFoley - ever have any trouble with Gluten?   I became allergic to gluten during chemo along with dairy and just about everything else!   Most  of the allergies have gone away, but the gluten one remains.  I have mucus and horrible cough, but some people get the symptoms you describe.  Or it just could be sodium.

I have been drinking water all day - just started back doing MLD yesterday - my good arm is swollen again... I am the most uncomfortable I have ever been since LE...

Denise - no trouble with gluten and know all about that one - my DIL has a gluten allergy...

alergies are wierd and can come out of the blue, guess that brand of pizza should be on the no no list now or at least till you can figure it out

hope you feel better soon, ooo if it is an alergic reaction the docs will likely tell you to take something like benedryl, I won't suggest that as I am alergic to the benedryl~~

My grrr... for the day: I called my fitter's office to see if my sleeve & glove came in. I ordered in early Aug. They are 45 minutes away and I start teaching on Tues. so I thought I could get over there before the weekend if it happened to be in yesterday's mail. She said "no, not yet" but I can mail it. UMMM... No... Last time you didn't mail it on time and I couldn't return it for a better fit because by the time I got it and wore it a few days it was too late. So I get a message later saying she double checked, and my insurance didn't preauthorize it yet, so it is not even ordered. She called BCBS and they said it was assigned to someone so wait another week. So I am a month or so from new garments, and the old ones are driving me nuts!! I would love to tell the fitter to go fly a kite, but I live in northern WI and the next closest place is 1 1/2 hours away and out of network, so the insurance is a pain. I would like to visit the insurance minion holding this process up, show her my incredibly hot and ugly sleeve/glove and say... "if I were looking to cheat your company, would I choose THIS????". Geez!!

GRRRRRRRRRRR I hate anything that has to do with constricting my body such as a glove/shaper/sleeve.  Tight clothes are bad enough.  That makes me think......I wonder if anyone has seen a person wearing a sleeve at a nudist camp? Laughing Oh my goodness, I think I have a twisted brain tonight, Better get off before I do any more damage to my reputation.... and no I don't frequent those places!Smile

Hugz I think I am learning quickly how I hate constriction - Mind you, I only have mild LE but man, don't know how you all do it!!!    DH says he was bloated the other day and is wondering if I have a bug.. All I know is that my whole trunk and breast were so swollen yesterday and after self MLD I wake up to swelling again - binder feels twice as tight as it was 2 days ago.. sports bra doesn't even cut it at the moment.. I loosened the breast binder and put it on... when will I breathe again - GRRRRRRRR ......At least self-MLD did seem to help my good arm go down a bit.. we are still stumped in what is causing that arm to swell... Been re-routing the MLD AGAIN..
