do you REALLY think I should wait on the z-pac?????

    I know I wouldnt , but then , I have been called a rebel!

Just ask yourself this - what do you think your DR would do or, if he is a man, what he would want his wife to do ?
Then, do that !  Do what your heart tells you.

Thank goodness the infection was ' caught '.  Now, go ahead and FIGHT IT!

Gma, GOOD FOR YOU for noticing and alerting your doctor. Praying that Z-pak will knock the infection out of commission tonight.

As for the CPAP--it's a miracle machine. You're gonna love actually waking up rested. Looking forward to that with you!

Z-pak started.. Wound cleaned, antibiotic cream added, new gauze on.. Now off to bed & take my gabapentin. Other pain med taken earlier.

DH has a job out of town. I will go with him to just rest & be with him as he drives. Hope that is not a mistake.

The " be with him" part sounds like a good idea right about now- maybe not ideal, but you are doing all you can so, yes, I would be doing just what you are .

    Get better!

So sorry.  Go with hubby and rest!

I go Monday to find out what garments I got for my legs.  They are finally here...don't you think it took long enough and no I quit wrapping 6 weeks ago.  You can only do so much and right now I can't even stand the compression around my feet.  My neuropathy pain has been horrible for the last week and it didn't help I took my daughter the fair this week.  Arm is doing okay but the trunk is a little puffy today.  I did have my allergy testing yesterday and no reaction to food but today I have nice little red dots which they said was not uncommon.  If they are still there tomorrow I will call them.

So this is what the allergist thinks.  Chemo changed my body and when I am ill and start with the throwing up my body thinks different now and I start itching and breaking out in hives.  THANKS CHEMO...the gift that keeps on giving in my new life..as if LE all over wasn't bad enough.  So he change my allergy medicine and loaded me up with atarx to use as needed.  He too thinks I may have some scar tissue from Rads and to get the EGG and colonoscopy.  Great..no more excuses.

Oh and when I put on my compression on the day I went to the fair, I used some of the compression glue around my ankles so the fluid would'nt pool there because they like to roll down.  Some of the reason I was in pain...when I took them off I had nice hot red whelps where the glue was. One more thing I can't use anymore.

Aaaugh, Kittydog! I can't use the adhesive stuff either. Same reason. They get like burns. No good at all. I hope your ankles are better now--nasty! Please let us know how the new garments are. Glad they finally got there, but not exactly a treat.Frown Sure hope they fit after all this!

I've been using the Circaid JuxtaFit leg garments for my leg LE and really like them. Easy on/off and reasonably comfortable. Give 'em a look!

    Hugs,

Kittydog - thanks and I can't take adhesive either including the bandage the BS tried to put over my open wound... I have some stuff called polymem that the LE T gave me - not adhesive necessary - just put the gauze in the middle of it and it holds with my sports bra on..

I did take the 2 pills last night and glad I did - between the RX antibiotic cream and the Z-pak - things are starting to be less red and is back within my circle this morning... Going to have a nice drive with my DH - he has a work call out of town. Amazing that by the time I pack all the stuff I need to keep wound clean and LE bag, while I'm gone, I need a diaper bag LOL.. What do we call these bags now that we are older? LOL Have a good day all.

GMA, so glad to see your post and that you are taking the meds and they seem to be helping.

Now don't over do it girl friend, be nice to yourself.  Let me think, how to pass the time in the car on a long drive...music, soothing music ad if you fall asleep, good for you.

Gma, elevate, stay really well hydrated, and maybe wait until at least tomorrow before you use compression. You want to make sure the infection's on the run.

    Have a relaxing day,

OH Kitty and Gma I just want to give you the gentlest hug (so as not to hurt you) Let us know how it is going. Try and get a few deep breaths of fresh air even if it is just outside your front door. It will refresh you and your LE will appreciate it.

Just returned from a successful flight to/from Ohio to San Francisco. Little Martha (LE arm) behaved very nicely during the flights and during my 8 days away from home.

For me, successful flights include starting out doing Lebed with the video - or doing as much as I can remember if I can't view the video. I follow this with a good 15-20 of MLD and then my compression sleeve. In flight - I get a window seat so I can stretch Little Martha without annoying seat mates. I stretch frequently during the flight. I don't like to drink water during the flight (because of the dingy bathrooms) but I get a cup of ice I nibble on during the flight. During layovers - I get in some airport walking, lots of water, more stretches and MLD (with my sleeve on). Not sure how effective MLD is through the sleeve but this process seems to be working for me. And then MLD again once I at my destination.

I have hauled my Flexi-Touch with me on four business trips now and never got it out of the suitcase. I think I will leave it at home next trip. The extra luggage is aggravating.

I am gaining confidence flying which is a good thing. However, I came home sick with a head cold! Don't know if it was flight related or what. San Fran weather was beautiful and warm - maybe I am just still more suspectible to germs. I'm only 10 months out from chemo completion and only 7 months from radiation completion. I'm thinking my body just needs more time to fully recover.

Oh well - no Grrrrr today.

Ohio--I remember getting shingles and continual UTIs during the first year after rads ended.  It took a retired nurse pal to remind me that my immunes system was still for crud!  She was right, it just takes time.  Course, 4 years out and still getting my fun UTIs!

Mags - you take care and get better soon!!!!

Question??? The hole is starting to get smaller but I am still leaking alot of yellow yuck and it hurts like you wouldn't believe (maybe you all do know how much that hurts)... Even though it looks like it is healing on the outside - can I be in trouble on the inside??? I have 2 more days on the z-pak.. just keep it cleaned out and keep up with the antibiotics???? Should I be calling the surgeon on Monday or can I wait until tuesday and give him a call??? I know that is really a stupid question, isn't it??

I think if you are concerned Monday morning then call the doc and discribe how it looks.  It seems to be improving so continue to be gentle with your self.

Hope you get ahead of this soon.

Got my new sleeve.  Seems to be a really good fit, yay!
