Juzo also has a new off-the-shelf glove with air vents. It's called "Cool Vent":

Just realized these come in a range of colors too. It doesn't have long fingers, so if you have finger problems it's not a good idea, but it does keep my hand cooler than the closed versions, and I sweat less with that than even with my lighter-weight fabric custom gloves.I too like the Juzo dream sleeves for an off-the-shelf. Light and comfortable, and their sizing choices are good. They come in colors and tie-dye as well.
Let us know what you discover!

Really, sand ?!
I did not know that - Thanks so much for that info. I am sure it will be helpful to a lot of ppl on the gloves and sleeves thread who have said the Lymphedivas dont fit them right.0 -
I love my Juzo and found that other sleeves put aloe in there sleeves to make them softer. I found I am allergic to aloe.
Update on my pharyngitis - it now has spread to the larynx. Doc said it is a bad one and I could be without a voice for up to 6-8 weeks.
Good news is I am managing to keep most of my swelling down. I also am getting used to me CPAP mask and have kept it on about 6 hours the last 3 nights.0 -
Get well soon GMA...It's been three weeks since I got sick and I still have a scratchy throat and little voice. Debating whether to go back to the Dr.
Three years ago, I didn't think I would see 50! Despite the LE, I am very thankful to celebrate my BD today. I ate lunch with my mom..which is something else to be thankful for since she is 80, my child took great delight in letting our waitress at Shoney's know it was my BD...The hot fudge cake and icecream were very yummy, and my hubby cooked my favortie cookies..ginger snaps. It has been a great day. Now no swell vibes.
Hope everybody is doing well.

QUESTION
What do you gals make if this :
I know a lady who is 85,. She first had BC at age 42 and then a recurrrence around 50 yrs old. I have bene told ( by a reliable source ) that she was dx with LE the 2nd time around because she had a BMX and " back then they didnt know how to prevent it " <sigh>
Anyhow, I have SEEN this lady dozens of times. She is very thin and wears ONLY short sleeves , even in the winter. I was told that was because now and then the swelling would bother her and tight sleeves were an issue. Thats about all that makes sense to me. You would never know she had LE!
Sadly, she is now in a nursing home and has dementia. I spoke to her daughters and asked about her, the BC and the LE. They just acted like : " Oh yeah, the LE - there is no tx for it. Sometimes she swelled but other times she didnt seem to."NO tx ladies, no compression, no mld, no cellulitis, over 35 yrs . WTH???!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Purple, I just think that LE is a highly variable condition that affects us in many different ways. Perhaps her lymphatics were barely compromised, just enough to cause transient swelling after stress. That would put her in a small group of very fortunate women who have the misfortune to have LE.

Here's another explanation , Carol.
She had minimal LE - the kind where it is suggested you wear compression just when exercising(nowadays)
She was not an exerciser...that much I know. She was very thin and lots of ppl back in the day thought exercise was (just) for overweight ppl.Soooo, no sleeve suggested ' back in the day', never exercised routinely and perhaps flared when she did certain household tasks or in hot summers and never even realized why. Seems at least plausible.
Of course that would nean, IF TRUE, ppl here with stage 0 could *potentially* skip exercise and sleeves.
But, who would take the chance ?
OK, have had too long to think about it/ sorry.0 -
Day 6 of no voice - the pharyngitis turned into laryngitis and taking steriod sprays, trying to keep it out of the bronchial tubes and lungs.. Pray it goes away soon.. having a few asthma issues to boot.. I guess I shouldn't exercise huh?? maybe just 5 minutes of lebed dvd? I'm going stir-crazy. I just want to move on... how many more hoops do I have to jump through!... short vent being I can't talk and can't yell....
Oh good news, abdominal ultrasound came back negative for gallstones and all my upper quadrant organs are normal size...Therefore the pains I am having in my breast is the nerve damage from radiation that it gets worse with LE swelling.. Surgeon can't say it is something else at this point . He still doesn't agree with my LE T that I have LE (because my hands aren't swollen, just upper arms and breast).

A grrrr and a yeah...
The VA canceled my appointment on me, so I showed up at 8:00am for nothing. Now I have to wait another week and a half just to get a referral to a new LET. Grrrrr!
Took bus across the water to the east side, where I saw my current fitter. Got custom measured for some jazzy new Juzo Dream Sleeves and they will be tie-dyed black and blue! Yeah!

End on a good note today - found a fitter that helped me find a post surgery compression bra that "fit my DDs". Had to go an hour and a half, but she was very helpful. Late for bedtime. Love you all. Tell you more later! Nite nite.

Sorry about your hassle.
I just ordered some IMAK ACTIVE gloves and they sent the wrong ones. These nuisances can really get annoying after awhile.
I sincerely hope you have a good fitter ( I did not) because you would be stuck with thoise Juzos regardless. ( see my post on Juzo Dream on ALL THINGS GLOVES and SLEEVES thread)
Best wishes to you!

Gma
Five mins of lebed sounds good . I feel like I am getting sick again ( sigh) but hoping to fight it off.
Great to find a good fitter - way to go!

Gma - did you go to Eugene? Cynthias?

Actually Juzo has a 14 day return policy if you are fitted by a certified fitter for a custom product - I can scan a copy of my guarantee that came with the sleeves I just received.. You do have to return them to the fitter.

Linda
Is that for Juzo Dream( which they do call custom) ?
If so, I am stunned because I had quite a detailed post on the gloves and sleeves thread and YES, my fitter is certified so I dont quite understand that. I would love to resolve this matter so pls do scan and post.THX!

My fitter is certified and she's been in the business a long time, like 20 years. She was dead on with the off the shelf sleeves. I got custom this time because I have long musician's fingers and the glove fingertips were too short in the off the shelf.

My fitter is certified and she was terrible - I should have measured myself!
But hey if that was really their policy ...I'll wait to see the scanned docs.
Thx again, Linda!

I had certified therapists, certified fitters, and finally gave up after too many "returns". Just got plain fed up. It became too depressing dealing with the mistakes that kept happening. The time spent, ....traveling to....co-pays for therapy, just kept dragging me down. Finally said, enough is enough. Trust me....I had the best. I normally don't give up, or give in, but this was never getting right. 3 times trying, and still problems. Now I just "deal with it", but am very careful about my personal care of my arm. Hugs ladies.

I know you are very frustrated , but i have just 1 question for you.
have you ever once tried to measure on your own and then order a rea$. priced garment online thru a company with a liberal return policy ?
just a thought.Best wishes to you!

MED BREAKTHROUGH
FEB 2013 (Prevention mag) pg. 26 wondering if this could conceivable help those with bilateral LE:
Needle free injections on the horizon
I have to say, I use the GRRR as my ' misc. sorrywould there have been a better place to post this > Is this okay or ?
NOT from the article, but they seem to be like this :
http://children.webmd.com/vaccines/news/20110920/needle-free-shots-make-vaccines-less-scaryand more info:http://bioinstrumentation.mit.edu/mediawiki/index.php/Needle-Free_Injection
would they pose a similar risk or something to keep our eyes on perhaps ?

Purple - I can never get a picture to copy in here - I'll PM you and email it to you. It is for "custom-made" by a certified fitter, and you have to take it back to the fitter - so if the fitter measured incorrectly they're held responsible, but if Juzo made it wrong then they are liable. I do have to drive 200 miles each way to my fitter, and she's the only one that I will have measure me at that location!!!! It took me several tries to find a fitter I felt comfortable with. We only order one to start with, then if it works, I order several more, through my fitter.
And I have the Expert - http://www.juzousa.com/Product.aspx?menu1=Lymphedema Garments&menu2=Sleeves&product_class=SG&group_model=3020

I have those ready made things, but they are good for little. Believe it or not I was one of the best wrappers the therapist said she ever saw...she called me her poster girl of wrapping, snd actually did a video of me doing it for her patient's who got discouraged doing it. To show it was not that tough to do. I had only did it a few times, and amazed her. And I was good, but I will not go back to that again......it was not easy....I was just determined to get it right mainly from fear of the condition........many 4 letter words used while doing it........all alone, and chasing those friggin bandages across the room when I would drop them while rounding my arm with the bandage. Lol.....the neighbors would pull their kids inside, and close their windows till I was done.......

Oh but Ducky ....you no doubt are our wrapping mascot! You sound like you could all teach us a lesson. How valuable you are to us. keep up the wrapping because that sounds like the best for you if you are not in garments. So glad you checked in because you reminded me I need to wrap practice this week?
Got to go do lebeds now.0
