Lucy, the memory thing sounds normal to me!!
I personally paid $4k to get the Oncotype test done after discussing it with my surgeon. I only did so because I had a small tumour but a micromet in one node. Later when I spoke to my oncologist she told me they try to guess the result and usually get it right just by looking at the pathology! I think I wasted my money in my panic! The medical team are the experts

Hi Tammy.. Yes.. I guess the micromet would confuse the issue even more.. It's probably lucky I didn't realise about the oncotyping at the time.. or I'd would of been out refinancing the house to have it done too.!!!
I didn't notice at first , but a lot of the ladies on this thread are ILC... My gosh.. If I think back to 4 months ago I really new nothing about BC..

Lucy, this site is great for teaching us about this disease. It's not just the threads but also the main site......there is so much information.
How are you doing? I hope you are managing all the treatment well.
I have just returned home....again....lol.....It seems like I am never home a lately but I guess that's what happens at this time of year. Take care all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Hello all
Hope everyone is coping well. I've had a busy and interesting weekend.
Tammy and I met for coffee on Saturday as she was in Canberra - sorry I don't think either of us thought of taking a photo! We had a great chat though and caught up on lots of things.
Did our first Pets with Santa shoot at one of the big pet stores, and it was fun. Only one dog that was terrified of Santa. Thank goodness there were no snakes - Santa doesn't "do" snakes lol. Only two rats, but Sana was cool with them.
Then we finally finished our big corporate shoot on Saturday afternoon. Yay!
Now only have the second (and last) Pet shoot on Friday night, and we are done for the year!
Trish

Hi Girls, had an awesome time with the girls in auckland, enjoyed every moment. THEN I WENT TO MOTHER, She in alot of pain with her pelvis after her fall, i only just heard whilst i there or i don;t recollect hearing it, more the case. that she blacked out completely on these blood pressure pills, i thought she only got light headed and dizzy and fell, but she went un-concious and came too enough to ring her st johns alarm, thank God she had that, she could of been on floor for hours. She having this bowen therapy, if anyone knows what that is, but its supposed to help pain. she is getting around with a walker and goes outside to water garden, i went out with her everytime so she did not trip on any hoses, she is stubourn, probably a good thing in some ways, but not in others as it becomes more a safety thing for her.
Sorry not been on here for awhile, i find this computer is a pain and i find it hard focusing with my eyes, have to lift key board up so i can see. the lighting here is terrible and since last earth rumble, we are having trouble with bulbs blowing, needs an electric over haul. we get a few earth quakes. not very big and depends where they centered. The one south east of us was the one that did more damage everywhere, a place called Eketahuna, that was the centre of it. and it was a huge jolt,
Well as i said, i loved the weekend and loved the girls and still do, you all as well. just went too fast. eating spag bol was not my forte, kid of made a little mess. it was nice though.
better move along and catch you later. xxxx

Hi Annette, great that you got back home safely! Lovely to finally meet you in Auckland and to catch up with Trish in Canberra. I'll have to slowly work my way around the country

Morning all! Trish, I hadn't thought about all the different animals you may have show up for photos, just thought it would be dogs and cats. I can understand not wanting a snake!
Midnight, how great to see you here. I miss seeing your posts. I am sorry to hear about what your Mother is going through, I have had Bowen therapy, for my Rheumatoid. It is a gentle modality that focuses on soft tissue fascia. It was, I believe, discovered and has been taught by by a man from Geelong in Victoria. I only found 1 person who was doing it near where I used to lived, but it was hard to get in to see him. I went with remedial massage instead, but I did like the Bowen Therapy.
Sounds like the weekend was a great one. It was good to see you all get together.

Thank you to Trisha Ann for pointing me to the Australia sisters link.
I have been to hell and back like you all have. I have had so much support from everyone here. Thanks to Ariom for settling me.
So far I have had approx 20 mammograms ultrasounds MRI cat scans bone scans. All sorts. I have had a lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy. I had 2 tumours. Well diffienated, stage 1, grade 1, one with vascular invasion and one without. Clear nodes. Clear bone scans and clear body ct scans. Oestrogen pos, progesterone pos, her2 neg, one clear margin, the other cannot be assured with tumor extending to within 0.5mm of the anterior margin.
The tumour with lymphatic invasion has clear margins. The one without clear margins doesn't have lymphatic invasion.
The first tumour is called a primary and the second tumour is considered a synchronous primary.
Thy surgeon thinks a masectomy is the way to go. He said I will need chemo for sure to mop up any rouge cells. I see oncologist tomorrow. Scared as heck!!!!

Hi Lill, you are right at the beginning of this journey and it's the hardest of all places to be. Information over load and not really being able to understand what everything means.........a time of fear and confusion. Fear because you have Cancer.....that dreaded and most feared of all illnesses........confusion because there is so much to learn in such a short time and decisions to be made that can effect the way you see yourself and your future.
Deep breath my dear, we have all been there. Ask as many questions that you can think of both here and of your doctors. Talk to others to gain knowledge from their experiences so you can make the best informed decisions for yourself. Come here to vent, get support, pick our brains, ask for and receive as many hugs as you need.
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Hi all
There was another big fire here yesterday not far from where I live. From out the front you could see all the black smoke, helicopters and water planes where going straight over my house for ages. If the fire had crossed the road I would have to be evacuated so was on edge most of yesterday. Luckily they finally got it under control.
Yesterday I had a very busy day. First I went to the shopping centre near Mum and dad's then went and saw them, got home and was out the front with neighbour's watching the fire then once that calmed down went to a friend from works party. I was stuffed last night.
Today went to another shopping centre and just about finished my Christmas shopping then started having a big clean up. I have tomorrow off work then back to work on Wednesday, not looking forward to it leading up to Christmas !!!

And here's a funny photo for all you girls, Chrissy I'm sure that you could make this LOL

Thanks Lill.
Carol that fire sure looked very scary! Wow!!! So close!!! Great pic by the way of the the fire bomber and the smoke!
Busy you, like the rest of us, trying to get things organized for Christmas and to think it is barely a week away! Yowza!!!
Trish you are never still! So glad that the Pets with Santa is going well but you are really going to have your work cut out for you after your next shoot on Saturday.......a very short week to get the pics out to those who want them before Christmas........good luck getting 'er done!!!
I have a birthday cake to complete for my youngest grandson's birthday on Wednesday and then a trip down to the city to deliver and share at his birthday dinner at a restaurant in Hahndorf which is in the Adelaide Hills. That will be a trek there and back on the same night as Arie is coming as well but Friday is just me.......got that mammo and DEXA that was cancelled last week.
Thank goodness that this year there is very little for me to do on the cooking side of things but tonight I finally did the fruit mince for the mince pies. It has a few days to stew and mature in the fridge before I place it lovingly into the pastry to form the pies.....can't wait to sink my teeth into them!!!.....lol.
Take it easy all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Lil - glad you found us the rest of this site is wonderful and the women very supportive, but we do have a few things in our health system that are a little different to what's done in the US.
Where are you located in Aus? The girls on this thread are from all over. Good luck with your onc visit today - I'm curious as to why you've been told chemo is a given. Was one of the tumours against your chest wall? It's just that with a grade 1 tumour that's not HER2+ chemo isn't usually given. I'm sure your onc will put you on the right path though.
Carol - how close is that fire! I'd be watching it pretty closely too! Will you get some time off over Christmas?
Chrissy - the pet shoot is Friday night and they are pretty easy to process - hopefully it'll be the same as last Friday's - processed Saturday and into an online gallery Saturday night and emailed out to the client on Sunday and Monday easy!! lol
Take care all
Trish

Glad to see that nobody here has mentioned being near or involved in the Sydney hostage crisis in the cafe, though aussie, that fire looks terrible.

Thanks Mods - I think all of us here were keeping a close eye on what was happening. As far as I know our Sydney girls don't work in the Sydney CBD, so hopefully no-one was nearby.
We are all still watching the news reports and thinking of the hostages and their families. It's good that it's finally over.

Morning all. Have been watching the news here. Have a nephew who is a chef but luckily he is just out of the CBD. I know our girls mostly work out the city. My cousin is a minister right in the city quite close by.

So sorry to read about the hostage situation in SYD - what a shame. I feel horrible for the families of those murdered by that loser.
Also sorry to see that your wildfire season is off to a roaring start again. That's got to be tough to live with!
I was lucky enough to visit Sydney (during Vivid) and NSW in late May, early June, this year and could see the signs of past wildfires throughout much of the countryside. I can't help picturing the region now when I read the reports.
Hang in there!

Thanks for your thoughts Hopeful.
Yesterday was interesting here in Canberra - the Dept of Foreign Affairs and Trade had a bomb scare, and they shut down all the roads surrounding it. The building is at the other end of the road my office is on. After about four hours the bomb squad discovered the "suspicious backpack" belonged to a staff member lol. I bet he was embarrassed!
Hope everyone is doing well.

Sorry everyone, I thought I would be able to be back here properly but...
- Mum is in hospital in Auckland after a fall
- we are now having a restructure and I'm gaining 6 new staff members at work
- our daughter knew/knew of two people in the siege cafe and she was so stressed it triggered something and she ended up in emergency Monday evening with something funny happening with her heart. Turns out she had low potassium levels and so needed an infusion. And it's not normal so she now needs follow up. Looks like there may be something wrong with her thyroid so now needs that checked. And - one of the people she knew (a friend's cousin) was Tori, the cafe manager who was killed :-/
We are all off to NZ on Sunday for a week so busy trying to get everything tied off at work.
Welcome to our new member - and I'm so sorry you have to be here..

Annette they are so beautiful - enjoy

Trisha-Anne - yes, I imagine that staff member is thoroughly embarrassed. I wouldn't want to be in his/her shoes!
Jenn - sincere condolences to the family and friends of the manager. That is such a tragedy. And I hope everything settles down for you for a while.
Midnight - the miniature horses are so lovely - and such a good antidote to some of the sadness. Thank you.

thankyou girls, the animals make life worthwhile at times when things are hard for people. i have abit of news of my own, the other night, hope this not too much info this bit lol, but hubby was rubbing my boob, left one while we watching tv, just over my nighty and he sat up looked very concerned and said honey, lift yr nighty up and put my finger there, it was hard lump, he said ring doc tomorrow, its needs a check. so i ended up ringing my doc, and the nurse said, can i come next monday, i ended up ringing my radiation onc and she had me up there at hospital that day and i saw her registra and he felt it as well, said could be scar tissue as its superficial, but is worried and put a referral in for a mamo, and scan and its next tuesday at 8.30am. before christmas, there is a small buckling, but he thinks that is possible scar, but not leaving for any thing unchecked.
DR CLAIRE, did check them all over on the week before i went to weekend with girls, so i cant understand that it could of got there, but i suppose they can miss things, she went over them all quite well. but she is getting them checked anyway with the mamo. i went thru nothing like you ladies have, but i dont want to go thru the treatment as they said if there was recurance in same breast, i would not ne able to rads and will probably mean a mascectomy and chemo, he put his hand on it and went yes, right there in the one to two clock position. i think she wanted another doc to check for another opinion with it been a short time since she did. so keep fingers crossed please. love and hugs
