Yes Sue I'm boring as bat sh*t.
And Racy and Chrissy - thank you for the prayers - a few others have been praying for me too and I know that helps.
Oh - and I've remembered what the letter said it was - Degenerative Arthopathy. Have googled that, and there's not a lot of information on it, but it seems to be some sort of arthritis? Anyone heard of it?
Will try to get into see my doc tomorrow afternoon to see what we do about it. While it's great news it's not cancer, my back is extremely painful, so would like to see what we can do about that. At least now I feel safe in going back to the chiro and getting readjusted, my pelvis is out of line, and I can start exercising and doing some strengthening exercises. I was worried about doing any of that before, I could just imagine the bone breaking into little pieces.

Thats fantastic news Trish, so happy for you. Hope they can get the pain under control now they know what it is.
Kate, sounds like you had a hectic time of it, hope your calm and not too tired now. I found any sort of excitement, good or bad would give me a huge fatigue reaction a day or two later. Still works that way nowadays too for that matter.
I just got my melatonin in the mail. Had a normal sleeping pill last night at 9.30 and was still awake at 3am and up for work at 7 so Im exhausted. Will take a time release melatonin tonight and hope it works to give me a great night's sleep for a change. Thanks in advance to Chrissy and the others who suggested melatonin. I literally cant wait to go to bed tonight haha

Yay!!!!!! {{{{{Trish}}}}}. Maybe some bisphosphenate in your near future :-)
My hair has slowly started growing as well. Only about 1/2 a cm but seems to still be my dark colour. My hair has always grown slowly and Herceptin seems to slow the growth too according to the Her2 women on here, so will probably be wearing the wigs for a good while yet.
8.30am tomorrow is my liver ultrasound - cross your fingers everyone that this pain is just an SE of treatment. I had a CT in January that didn't show anything anywhere so am hoping it's nothing...
Jenn0 -
Fingers and Toes crossed for you Jenn. Hope the day goes very fast for you and that your back in here quickly to say you have the all clear0
-
It just shows how ongoingly stressful BC is with so many of us having concerns.
Jenn, I will say a prayer that you too get benign results tomorrow.0 -
Query: My CT scan says I have several "metallic clips" in my axilla where I had my full clearance.
Is this normal?
Can I have MRI's in the future with these?
Kylie x

Jenn - will be thinking of you tomorrow. Sending you big ((((hugs)))) too xoxo
You're right Racy - it just never seems to end does it.
Kylie - I don't think that sounds right. Why would they leave clips inside you? I would imagine that would cause problems with MRIs. You need to talk to an onc. Try to get to see one in Canberra.

I have clips as well. Standard practice for the surgeon to leave them there so tumour bed can be identified for rads. I did say I wasn't happy about it and was assured they are made of a metal that isn't magnetic - can't remember the name of the stuff...
Jenn0 -
Titanium - I had some put in before surgery so they could find the spots to insert the wires.

JENN - All the best for tomorrow. I expect consecutive days of good and positive news please. xx

Just lost long post - ggrrr. Wireless router went off; it's playing up and we are waiting on a new one, maybe tomorrow.
Trish - yeh.
Jenn, lots of prayers for tomorrow.
Kylie, I have lots of clips from various operations and have had MRIs just so long as you tell them.
I have to have more treatment on my frozen shoulder and hope it will improve because I am not keen on more surgery..
big hugs to all.

Jenn - thinking of you - you'll be going in for your US soon. I forgot to mention yesterday about your hair. Mine grew back fairly slowly after chemo and on herceptin. I had my hair trimmed only very slightly at the sides in early January, that was the first time. Finsihed Herceptin on 17 Jan and have had 2 very thorough trims since then. Once Herceptin was finished my hair started growing like weeds! It came through very curly, although my hair is naturally curly, the curl was very pronounced. Now after 2 trims it's back to its normal wavy curl.
Alyson - it's so annoying to lose a post - I've had that happen a few times because of a dodgy internet connection. I found that if that happened and I hit the back arrow up the top left hand of the screen I got my post back and could then submit when I had the connection back again. Hope your shoulder improves soon - sounds painful.
Well - that's good news about the clips - I never had any. Well I had one marker put in when they did the biopsy - but it went along with the rest of my breast. Maybe that's the difference when you have a mx v a lumpectomy?
Chissy - where are you? Haven't heard from you for a little while - starting to worry a bit. Everything ok?
Hugs to everyone
Trish

So the US is done and I'm already at my desk at work with my coffee. The technician said that he couldn't spot any problems but I will breathe easier after I've picked up the doctor review report this afternoon. And yes, I always open those things despite the seal that says you can't .
If there really is nothing showing up then we can all assume that this pain is a side-effect - most likely from the denosumab (bisphosphenate) as it does have "abdominal pain radiating to the back" listed as an SE. The problem was that we couldn't just assume that because it is a blinded trial and so I am either getting the drug or placebo and none of us knows which (although we all highly suspect I'm getting the drug based on some of the SEs, including blood anomalies, that I have been experiencing...
Have a good day everyone! Hope Chrissy is OK - maybe not much computer access at her daughter's place (is that where she was)?
Jenn

That's good preliminary news Jenn. You should be safe given that you are still in the middle of chemo. Good news too if you are getting the potential added benefit of the trial drug.
I hope we can all have a worry free respite now, ideally until we all pass on due to old age, not BC.
Keep working on the cure please Jenn. I certainly am praying for it.0 -
Yay Jenn that's great news :-) Yes - it will be better when you have the official report, but I bet the tech's word is right. xoxox
I'm going to see my gp this afternoon to see what needs to be done with my back. Now that I've read the report properly, it's facet degenerative arthropathy - which is basically degenerative arthritis. I'm convinced it's from the Arimidex, but will have to see if the onc thinks I can go onto something else instead. I'm not a good candidate for bisphosphenate because of my mouth issues, so am hoping there are alternatives to that.
Everyone else take care
Trish

Glad to hear your news Trish. Hopefully you can get some relief.
Good luck Jenn. Hopefully it as you think - a SE.

I'm home from my mammo/ultrasound 4 hours later. They called me back in to do a compression one on the right boob, then I had the ultrasound and could see a spot circled on the pics. The tech said she couldn't see anything. Then they called me back in for another mammo, then they finally let me go. Talk about stress. Still, it's done - next trip MRI in October. I'm starting to understand women who have BMX.
Jenn - hope your ultrasound is all clear. Sounds good so far.

Good news Jenn. I've got good news too. The lump they removed from my throat was a lymph gland that for some reason grew big and atrophied, but it's totally benign so never caused any problems nor would have down the track. I finally met the GP who I had been recommended to see but never managed to see before. He was a real honey (nice to have some nice eye-candy at least) but had a very gentle and attentive nature as well. He has given me a script for some new sleeping tablets which are not addictive and don't give you a hangover effect. Every few nights or so I take over the counter ones which are really great but he says they can cause more harm than good and these ones are better. Apart from that, I'm good as gold it would seem.0

Great news Kate and Jenn,
I went to the onco and actually got to speak to him, not his newby associate. Got lots of questions answered and feel a lot better.
I got a phone call from my daughter (21) on way home from onco, the doc found a lump in her breast and has sent her for US. He thinks it is a cyst but I will be glad when US results happen. She is also getting BRAC genetic testing. She said she didn't want to know but doc convinced her. Life is never easy is it?
Big hugs, we are heading up the Coast tomorrow so Dom can visit all his friends he is missing. xx

Hi Kylie, good news that you are feeling better. Knowledge really is power. I'm sure your DD will be OK, but better to get it checked out. My GP today alerted me that my daughter (25) will need start having mammograms when she is around 30 due to the aggressivness of my cancer type. At the moment she is undergoing tests for suspicious cervical cells and is going in for a laparoscopy next week. I haven't even let myself think any further ahead than she is just having tests.

Sue (((hugs))) I would have been stressed out of my mind. xoxo
Kate - good news, at least now you know - I know you knew, but now you really know lol
Kylie - great you feel better after talking to onc - he answered all your questions properly? Not good news about your DD though, enjoy your trip tomorrow xox
I'm getting concerned about Chrissy - sent her a text yesterday with my news and haven't heard back - will send her another one today

Kylie - I have everything crossed for your daughter...
Trish - thanks for checking on Chrissy...Hope she's just too busy having fun to check in with us!
I picked up my ultrasound scans and report and broke the seal (yes yes - I'll tell myself off later...). The doctor report agreed with the technician this morning - no sign of any lesions in any of my major abdominal organs.
Now I'm just waiting to hear back about the CA125 blood test that I did last week for the gynae as a follow-up because of the ovarian cyst I have. He's "away" at the moment though according to his office.
regards Jenn

Hopefully Chrissy is okay and just has a flat phone battery or is having a break from BCO. God knows I never remember to take my charger with me when I go away. She last posted on the 10th, so lets try not to worry for a bit longer.
Melatonin worked a treat, thats some good stuff. Actually felt rested for the first time in forever when I woke up whereas usually I wake up as tired as I was when I went to bed.
Kate, I hope its nothing with regards to your daughter. My sis had a call back like that when she was in her 20's and it turned out to be nothing and 20 odd years later she still doesnt have cervical cancer (or any other cancer for that matter). So hopefully the same will be the case for your daughter. Also so happy for you that it was just an atrophied gland, what a lovely relief.
Jenn thats wonderful news re the scans. I would have opened them too and wouldnt have felt the least it of guilt in doing so.
Kylie, Hope its just a cyst for your daughter. Silly advice ffrom me I know, but try not to worry in the meantime. You need to take care of yourself and not get stressed out about something that will hopefully not eventuate if you know what I mean.
Trish I so hope they can come up with something to stop your back pain. Its just not right that we should all pay in so many other ways when our initial dx's and treatments are enough to cope with. Would love to advance 20 years into the future when hopefully there are no s/e from anything associated with BC.
Massive hugs to all. Also apologies if Ive missed someone. My mind seems a bit clearer today, am hoping the old sleeping pills I was using were the cause of so much of my chemobrain and that I can look forward to clear thinking from now on. lol I can hope anyway haha
Lyndal
Sue, hugs and commiserations. I had that treatment back in November - scared the crap outta me. Horrible when a routine mammo and US turns into something not so routine hey. Thank goodness they ended up giving you the all clear. Im going to have a glass of wine in your honour tonight. and suggest you do the same lol.
Edited to say stupid editing. Sue you werent an after thought. For some reason it put my ending before what Id already said to you and it wont let me cut and paste now. argggh

Lyndal - going to the Wesley wears me out - I was booked for 8:10 and they kept taking in people who arrived after me. Apparently they were checking because I was only there 6 mths ago - could have asked me. I got really annoyed, so it wasn't a good start. I didn't get my favourite US lady, but the one I had was really nice.
The melatonin might make you feel a bit tired for a week or so but you get used to it. I might order the time release one next time. I verey occasionally have a night where I can't fall alseep.
Great news Kate - that was scary.
Kylie - hope your daughter is OK.
Off to the hairdressers for either a cut or colour - not sure which I booked first. I have to split the appts as I really can't spend 2 hours or more there after work. Still love my hair - it's totally amazing.

Chrissy has been on line today according to her profile. No Chrissy, I am not a stalker :-).

Hi girls sorry to leave you hanging but I just haven't had the opportunity to let you know what's been going on.
Firstly though I want to say congrats to Trish........ Yay!!!!!!!! Fabulous news!!!!!! I did send a text when young me know. It obviously you didnt get it.
Kate and Jenn great news for you girls as well!!
If this sounds a little terse please forgive me as I'm using my phone and it can get a little frustrating sometimes. I am back in hospital as of yesterday ....... Boohoo! But. Of the ortho ward but cardiac. Yup they suspected a clot and after a whole battery of tests it has been confirmed. I'm still waiting on a whole heap of results of tets but I won't get them until at least tomorrow so could be here for another day or two. I will be reading but posting on my phone is a real
pain so I will probably not post unless I can get computer access.
I'm doing okay.
Love n bugs all. Chrissy0 -
Oh Chrissy, sorry to hear about the clot. I hope you are safe in hospital and they are able to treat it. It is fortunate that you found it but unfortunate that it happened.
Best wishes that you are able to go home soon.0 -
Hugs Chrissy!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jenn0 -
(((((((((((Chrissy))))))))))) - not what we want to hear

Dang Chrissy and here I was hoping you were just having great fun and didnt have time to talk to us. Im so sorry you have a blood clot, but Im glad your in hospital which is the best place for you for now. Im really hoping you werent in too much pain before they found it, but if you were I would imagine they have given you a blood thinning injection already so you should be pain free now.
Looking forward to you getting back home and onto your computer so you can catch us up on everything. That is if your not busy going for long walks with your new knee lol.
