    For Kylie and Jenn.

Chrissy has at least another day in hospital, hadn't had the INR back when I spoke to her but rash was beginning to improve. Do hope things improve soon for her.

Oh Kylie. Biggest hugs to you. I'm so sorry you are feeling so rotten.

I agree Alyson, this is just one very long waiting game, Racy I hope your test results come back ok, sending positive vibes your way.

I rang my Onc office yesterday and spoke with his receptionist. She was guarded on the phone and certainly didn't say anything like "well that doesn't sound right" she just said he doesn't screen all his patients unless he has reason to. I would have thought being a medicare requirement would have been the obvious reason. There is one other Onc who visits down here. I have decided that if I get no response from my current one, then I will get a referral to the other. I don't like haveing any corners cut with my health. And I will also ask about the Taxane. As much as I don't want anything additional, if it's in my long term best interest to have it, then I should have it.

I've had 2 radiations. Not much to tell about them. I'm in and out very quickly and of course don't feel a thing. I am however having problems with my port area and I would like to know if it's normal to experience sudden quite deep and sharp pain which can radiate down my right arm (the side I have it on). I can never pre-empt when it is going to happen. I can lift things and move quite normally and it's fine, but then, I can just be say typing here or stirring dinner, or just still and watching tv and it happens. It is really strong and sharp and probably I have 20 or 30 a day. The funny thing is though that from the time I got it in, through my last chemo and the three weeks after, I would never have known it was there. But since the Herceptin (which stung the whole infusion) it hasn't stopped since then. So a bit of a puzzle. I will have to ring the Onc unit if it persists, but maybe this is just normal?

Hi girls!  yup as Alyson said, at least another day here but things are now turning to the up so that is a good thing!  INR today was 2.4 so that's two days in a row for being in the range........I'm keeping my fingers crossed that tomorrow shows the same and then maybe, just maybe they'll let me fly the coup!  I can't wait to get home and sleep in my own bed!  This one week hospital stay has turned into a marathon almost three weeks!  Ugh!!!  The one good thing is the knee is doing very well.  I'm bending it to a 90 degree angle now and walking with confidence using just the canes rather than the walking frame.  I'll have to see if I feel the same when I get home and the floors are a little rougher than the corridors of the hospital but I'm hoping that I will feel good enough to get rid of the frame all together.

Sending big ((((((((HUGS)))))))) to Kylie, Jenn and Kate and you too Racy and hoping your scan comes back clear so you can put your mind at ease.

I think the hardest part of this journey is the learning to live without fear.

    Love n hugs all!   Chrissy

Hi ladies, I had my ultrasound today. I don't have the official result yet but the indications given verbally by the tech and radiologist were that no problems were found. They checked the entire breast area (again) so hopefully I can have a worry break for a while.

Sorry for everyone who is feeling poorly and hope it passes soon.

Chrissy, I feel for you being in hospital so long; what a drag. Once you get home, stay there!

This week is one year since I finished chemo. The time has gone quickly looking back now but 2011as a year seemed very slow when I was in it and I would prefer to forget most of it.

My hair is still only a bit longer than 3 inches and, after actively growing for 45 weeks, that means it has only grown about an inch every 15 weeks.

Alyson and everyone enjoy ANZAC day. Alyson, I visited Napier and surrounds in Hawkes Bay region.

I will go to a small local service at 9 am.

    Talk to you all later.

Chrissy - so glad things are looking up for you and you get sprung really soon. xoxo

Jenn - hope you are feeling a bit better today?

Kate - good for you for asking the questions - they did have to be asked, and hopefully you'll get a response from the onc.  I think asking for a referral to a different one might be a good idea anyway - this one doesn't really sound like he's doing the right thing.  As for your port - that doesn't sound right.  Firstly it shouldn't sting at all during an infusion, that's one alarm bell - did you tell the nurse?  Pains like you are describing don't sound good either.  I certainly never had that sort of thing.  The onc probably wouldn't be the best person to ask about that - it should probably be the surgeon who installed it - he would be the expert.  Even though he botched things a bit with your neck.  It's always something isn't it!?  I hope you get some answers soon.

Racy - great news about your u/s.  I know your hair means a lot to you, and feel for you.  Hair usually grows slower than you think.  It seems so much slower when you are trying to grow it long.  I've had short hair for so long I don't really think about it too much.  But when I was in my teens I decided to grow it long and I know it took forever to get long enough to put in a ponytail.  It seemed to me that it was never going to grow.

It's a freezing cold ANZAC day here.  There is snow predicted to 1400m - we are well below that at 850, but it feels like it is falling here now.  The fire will be going on shortly and a day snuggled with a fire and a good book sounds good right now.

    Hugs to you all

    Trish

    xoxo

Ha Trish, I was just thinking this morning that in good old Canberra, ANZAC day always is the definitive time when the cold weather really hits... hate to say but it's going to be 25 here, no snow naturally! We are having a family picnic down by the estuary and I'm about to make a big egg and bacon pie. I'm going to try to be clever and imbelish it with the rising sun crest in pastry. Using puff pastry so it might not rise to look like anything.

Jenn, Kylie and Chrissy. Hope youré all feeling better/stronger today.

Have a lovely day everyone. xxx

Celebration time girls!!!!   I finally got my marching orders.......as of tomorrow morning I'm out of here!!!  Yahoo!!!! and come Friday I will be in my own home after four long weeks away.............you might say that I'm sort of looking forward to that.......lol.

Racy good to hear that the tech didn't see anything untoward.  Now perhaps you can relax for a while.

Jenn and Kylie, sure hope you are both feeling a little better.

Kate I would get your port checked as it really shouldn't feel that way.  Your egg and bacon pie sounds delicious!  Enjoy your picnic!

Trish, a there is nothing like a warm blanket a crackling fire and a good book on a chilly day..........sit back, snuggle up and enjoy.

    Love n hugs all.  Chrissy

Racy - hope you get good news on your U/S

Chrissy - glad you are finally going to be free - are you still glad you had your knee done? Just got home from the DFO (only place open today) and I was realising just how bad my knees are - wish I had your courage.

Kate - you'd better get your port checked out. I had some strange sensations at one time but they went away, but nothing like what you are describing.

Sue, I have absolutely no regrets about getting the knee done and am champing at the bit to get the other one done........lol........guess you could call me a glutten for punishment.....lol.   Even with the set back, I will still go ahead as soon as possible.  I am walking with just one stick now so the walker is banished and I have a 90 degree angle bend to the knee.  It will end up better than that but there is a modicum of swelling so that stops it as well as needing more strength and that is just time and work.

Bite the bullet girl and go for it!  I'm not saying it's easy but I surely have no regrets and it already looks better that before it was done and I'm not quite four weeks out.

I've got first hand knowledge of my Mother's knees - I do not like how they look - she had both done but went public. I wish I could find someone who has some new neat way of doing it. I hestiated because they don't like to do it if you're too young as they only last 10 years, but now I'm a lot older, I'm probably at the right age. Last time I saw a surgeon I was only in my forties.

Yay - finally sitting up and have eaten something (boiled eggs - thanks for that tip Trish) so starting to feel almost human.

We had a black out for half the day, thank goodness we have gas heating, it is freezing.

Kate - I hope you get some stuff sorted, second opinions never hurt and often help. Your pie sounds fantastic as does your weather.

Hooray Chrissie, wonderful news and I am so glad you are happy with your knee despite the dramas.

Racy - great news with US.

A big hug to Sue, Lyndal, Jenn and Alyson. I really appreciate all your kind thoughts. xx

Been cleaning all day except for the trip to the DFO - nothing else open. Our bedroom furniture is now polished and I finally vacc'd under the bed and behind the bedhead - serious fluff/dust bunnies like you have never seen. I'm embarrased to say several years build up of dust. Even did a bit of a chop in the garden and I feel like I've accomplished something good - back to work tomorrow.

Chrissy - I'll be thinking of you on your release tomorrow.

Chrissy! That's great news :-) enjoy your home coming, and your own bed.

Kylie, so glad the boiled eggs helped, I did live on them during Taxoterrible lol. Did you try the jelly beans?

Kate, your pie did sound good - so we had fried egg sandwiches for lunch. Seems eggs were the food for today

Sue, you could have hopped on a plane and come down and cleaned my house lol

Jenn -you'll be impressed, I'm posting this on my iPad! Finally got my house to be wireless. This is luxury

Hope everyone else had a good day

The ER doc left a message for me last night that the ultrsound did not indicate anything suspicious. I asked for the scan and report to be sent to all my docs so I expect they will let me know if follow up is required. Sue, I feel very comfortable going to the Wesley with issues, where all my docs know each other and communication is easy.

Chrissy, parole at last. I have been thinking about you. I hope you have had visitors. I can't believe you want to risk another extended stay so soon. It will be lovely for you to be back in your own town, bed and kitchen, and with your husband.

It's still warm in Brisbane. Often ANZAC day heralds a cool change, but not today.

Sue, I love a clean house but didn't do any cleaning today. Good for you, and good to see you posting on the Hair thread.

Kylie, Jenn and Kate, thinking of you and looking forward to you celebrating the end of chemo.

Lyndal, I am succinct because I am always typing on my phone.

Hi to Trish, Alyson and Jezza.

Racy - did you have the ultrasound at the Wesley breast clinic? If you did - was it Jo who did it - she's my favourite.

Hey it's getting colder by the minute - we do have the door open. I was thinking about you today and thought we should try and meet up (Lyndal too) - I was walking around the DFO wondering if you were one of the women there :)

Was that the DFO at Jindalee Suzie? Only takes me about 10 mins to get there so by all means, if your heading that way again, let me know and we can meet up for coffee.

Kylie, so glad your feeling better and Chrissy, so happy you can finally go home. Lol Racy, I think your just better with words as well.

Sue, I had the ultrasound at Wesley imaging. I normally go to Diagnostic Imaging for Women at Spring Hill for my annual scans. They are very good.

Did you buy anything at DFO?

Lyndal, I'm a bureaucrat so being good with words is a big part of my job. Actually, being on this site has taught me a lot about supportive communication. I think you ladies are all great posters.

Hello Sisters!  I would like to say Hi! and God Bless.  Keep the course and always MARCH FORTH.  I just had to write today.  I have been reading blogs and recovering from my breast cancer Diagnosis .  I just want to say - stay the course and stay positive.  During my recovery, I began writing to help others through this process.  I felt I could help others with this effort.  I ended up writing a book called MARCH FORTH.  I am proud and thrilled to say my book won first place in the Reader Views Readers Choice Awards for Self Help last month.  If any one would like to read it, it is available on Amazon and on Kindle.  You can visit my webpage at 4marchforth.com.  As Always, - MARCH FORTH!

    Hi everyone

I just wanted to sign off, thankyou for your support and wish you all well, especially the ones undergoing chemo, Jenn, Kylie and Kate and of course Chrissy for a speedy recovery. Also thanks to Trish for setting up this thread.

I'm hoping I have been lucky and this is the end of my BC journey, although still have some lingering doubts due to the size of my tumour. I seem to be going well on Tamoxifen.

I'll probably lurk from time to time but am trying to wean myself onto other things. Have discovered Words with Friends so that's a good distraction

I'm home!!!!! Well at DD's until tomorrow.......lol. DH will pick me up then and transport me home at last! I can't believe that when I dressed this morning I somehow have managed to not put any weight back on........yay!!!! Now that will make loosing more a little easier.

Yay Kylie so glad you have managed to eat something at last and you are feeling better for it.

Jenn and Kate sure hope you are feeling much more like your normal selves.

Sue the cut to my knee is just a straight line that will be almost invisible when fully healed. All the stitching was done internally. The new prosthetics that they use now are supposed to last a whole lot longer than ten years. It may pay you to check it all out and get some up to date info as a whole lot of things have changed.

Alyson hope your shoulder is feeling better each day as the cortisone kicks in and does its job.

Trish and Racy sure hope you are having a great day!

    Love n hugs. Chrissy

Gerri, wishing you well as you get back to normal life.

Alyson, I didn't realise you were taking an overnight trip. Though I thought that Hawkes Bay is probably a couple hundred k south of Auckland. Enjoy!

Chrissy, have a great night and tomorrow at home sweet home :-).
