Stitching the pieces together

barbe - did you use the little tree icon ("insert/edit image") to post your pic?
Once you add the image URL, you then have to go down to "dimensions" and just click in the empty box. The dimensions should automatically load. If they don't, your picture won't show up.
Other than that, I have no suggestions other than saving the image you received to your computer, then uploading it to Photobucket like AlwaysHope said...

I found you!!! I have been looking for this thread for weeks! I am a new/old quilter. I have resumed quilting after not doing any for many, many years. My hands just will not let me knit or crochet anymore so I am back to quilting only this go round I am limited to machine quilting which turns out to be fun too. I do a lot of other crafts and machine embroidery also. I was trying to post a picture from FB but it will not appear here. I am not very good at posting pictures so I will have to do some work on that. I will try the insturction above and see what I can do.
Glad I found you all, AJ

I was trying to post from gmail. Crap. Maybe Chrissy will post it for me if I forward it to her? Would you do that for me, yet again, please Chrissy. I really thought I had it figured out this time!!

Sure Barbe anytime but I will be away from home until next Monday your time so if the time lapse is no problem, then send away. I'm happy to do it for you.
Hey AJ, bout time you dropped in!........lol.......I was wondering why you hadn't put your head in the door........lol0 -
Elisimo, here are some instructions for posting pictures from Facebook:
Open a Facebook photo, then right click on the image and "Save Image URL." That is what you paste into the Add Picture link (the one that looks like a tree) on BCO. After pasting the URL, click on the size box and the size pops up automatically - you can then change the size if you want to. Aim to keep the pic at 500 pixels wide or less so it will fit within the boards layout. Very large pics are also slower to load.
If you're using a Mac, hold down the Control key when you click on the pic from Facebook, and get the URL with the Copy Image Address.• The Mods

Meece, I haven't been on here in several days, what a surprise to see your snowflakes at the top of the page. At first I was wondering how did you get a picture of my snowflakes then I read your post about learning to crochet snowflakes . I have the same book '99 snowflakes' as well as several other booklets and leaflets dated around 1983-85. That tells you how long I have been crocheting with thread. I can't remember who said it but the more you do the more consistant your stitches and tension will get. I like to do several off of each pattern so I get the idea and the the pattern in my head and I can make them faster. To help preserve my booklets and make it easier to carry around to do when waiting at various appointments, I have typed the patterns to fit on a large index card (5 x 8) and have a small clipboard that I keep them on, the smaller size instructions is easier to hold on my lap or on the side table next to my chair at the house.
One lady at my office asked me if I could teach her how to make the snowflakes. On Monday, another came in my office with a questioning look on her face, I thought she had broken her computer but she wanted to know if it was too late for me to make her an angel for Christmas. I was able to crochet her angel in 2 nights, I will stiffen it and have it ready to give to her on Friday.
If you want to put the glitter on them, the starch alone won't hold the glitter on, you need to use a glue product like what I use Plaid's 'Stiffy'. This will be a more permanent stiffining solution. I have several that I stiffened many years ago and are just as stiff as when I first made them. I keep them sealed in zip bags and in a box when not on display at Christmas to help preserve them.

On the other hand if you have a photo in photo bucket or picasa web you
can just slide it over if you open both BCO and the web album at the same
time in windows. Igenerally don't used outlook express for my browser..but
here is what we do to knit lap robes for our hosptalized veterans..

lvtwoqlt - those are great instructions! Thanks!
SoCalLisa - I'll bet those knit lap robes are very much appreciated by the Vets! I have several bags of comfort quilts in my car (made by our Quilting Club at church) ready to go to the Palliative Care department at our local VA hospital.

Today was our Quilt Class Christmas party! I've missed every single one of the previous ones because I'm always sick this time of year, and last year I was having my BMX.
A class member hosts it at her home....in past years it was in her massive, gorgeous (so I've heard) home overlooking the lake, but this year it was in town, in a 100 year old Craftsman style home she is refurbishing. What an awesome house! It even had the original Ice House and Carriage House out in back!
The house was all decorated for Christmas... we had a yummy potluck, and then had our fabric exchange. You bring either four fat quarters, or anything equal to a yard of fabric, and if you make the wrapping, so much the better. Then we number off, and you pick your gift from under the tree. Unfortunately, it's one of those "stealing" games, where the next person can take your gift and you have to get another.
It actually was a lot of fun...I got some beautiful cobalt blue fat quarters which promptly got "stolen" from me. Then I went over and stole some black and white FQs. Well, someone else had their eye on them, and took them from me, so I went over and swooped back my blue fabric! Then it was MINE!
What's really fun is to see what others have made out of their Christmas Party fabrics. I'm sure some overachievers will be ready to show their stuff in class on Thursday.

Oh, I got three more snowflakes done. Pretty easy to do little projects while sitting in front of the t.v. One of the patterns I just completed incorporated beads in it. I still have made some errors, but until I get better at this, they will just be unique.

Alright! Where's the "like button" for the snowflakes and all the comments about them? I'd click it for all those posts. ;-)

Those are very pretty, Meece. Nice job!

Thank you. My mother has crocheted all of my life and I never thought I was capable. The instructions always looked unmanagable. I am still running up against some of the snowflake patterns that I run up against something I don't understand, but I am really gonna try...

I LOVE THOSE SNOWFLAKES

You are doing great with the snowflakes Meece. I also am missing the 'like' button on all the comments complimenting you on your work. I like crocheting the snowflakes because they are so quick, instant gratification, compared to making an afghan or hat. When I am stiffening mine and I make a comment about a stitch I may have missed, or too many stitches on another place, my husband says that 'each snowflake is individual, you are just making them more realistic.' Also the Amish in their quilts always make a 'mistake' in one block. They call it their humility block since we cannot make anything perfect, only God can.

Meece, you have inspired me to post more of my snowflakes. Not all of these patterns are from the 99 snowflake book.

How lovely.
I like the "instant gratification" of the snowflakes, but also like the fact that I can learn different stitches and techniques and have something to show for them. Years ago I bought a bunch of crocheted snowflakes out of a catalog. Last year, I decided to wash them, but whatever they used to size them didn't completely wash out and I never re-blocked them. I don't know where I put them, but I think when I find them I will try to duplicate them on my own.
I just made the one in your lower left hand corner yesterday. I didn't block it yet. I think I mak put some on gifts this year to decorate them.
This may also make another good lap project for our 11 hour drive to see patch a week from Friday.
DIL is a knitter and I am looking for a good hobby related gift for her this year. Any ideas?

P.S.
I am so glad that this thread is getting some activity. I really appreciate you ladies. REALLY!

Meece is she into lace knitting? If she is get her some 2 ply silk to knit herself a shawl. There are many patterns available on line and most hanks contain 800 - 1000 yards which is more than enough. Your snowflakes are so lovely I'm going to do some fore myself.

LOVE the snowflakes!!! I'd like to see them done in sliver...woza!! I used to crochet a lot. Even made clothes for stuffed animals that I had made (like Roo from Winnie the Pooh). I can knit, but don't ever seem to like the fit of what I've made. They seem stiff. I have to lighten up on the tension! I DO love the new wools though...takes my breath away!!!

I like the shawl idea. I will search out some patterns and the silk. I found a "yarn drum" to help keep her knitting organized.
