I really love a good bonfire of heartless techs!  Prior to surgery I had one tell me (before getting stabbed in the nipple 4x's) "oh it doesn't hurt that much."  All I could think of through my tears was, come here bitch and let me stab you in the nipple 4x's!  BURN baby BURN!  Jo, here's my smile, is it evil enough?  Kitty

Have something new to add. Just dropped off kids at school and actually heard one teacher say to another behind my back and in a whisper "those poor boys, their Mom is sick with cancer". Now I know it was probably well meaning, but first off , do not feel sorry for me or my boys. We are doing just fine and second today is a good day, I am not sick all the time. It is so hard not having people lose who you are in the cancer thing. Just tired of it. I do not want anyones pity, me and the boys are getting through this whole mess and plan very much on getting to my "new normal" life very soon. Just wish people would treat me the same as before.

Kitty - I'm glad I wasn't the only one who wanted to ring the necks of those damn techs who said the needles to the nipples would not hurt that much.  It was so bad I thought I was going to pass out after 3.  Step aside, I will help you push those idiots in.

Hadley - I am still smoke free after 5 1/2weeks.

Thanks to everyone for keeping this thread going.  It is so wrong that we have to come here to start with but it does feel good to have a place to come to and get rid of all the crap we have to put up with.

I want to throw technology in the fire. Can't live without it but it drives me crazy.  I have an iphone and I use it for everything.  the last update apple did cause a problems with my syncing from my phone to my computer.  Well got that fixed finally but my music would never sync up.  And I use that when I exercise.  So last night apple puts out another update so I do it and it messes up the sync again, but I was able to restore from a back up but now I have to reput in the last Dr visits etc that I did not have from the last back up.  What a pain in the butt and I don't have a great mememory trying to figure out what I need to check on. urrrrgh

fortunately i was "out" when they injected the dye in my nipple - my worst experience was the needle core biopsy - i was bruised for a couple weeks after that lovely procedure.  i hope to never need one of those again!  it was terrifying, it hurt, & i was thankful my daughter (12-yr bc survivor) was with me to hold my hand but was also sorry she had to see the pain i went through.

You ladies are wonderful....I am inspired to toss in one more thing....all these bruises the plavix is giving me. I look like a banana....now I am not terribly vain and don't generally care what others think of my clothing choices or hair style etc....but I have never been particularly fond of my legs and now they look like I am either related to a banana or am being beaten every night across the calves. I know this is normal...know it is keeping the stent clear and my heart pumping and all thse good things...and I don't mean to be whining given that I am alive and all but .... could I have one day where my legs are not prurple?!!! the researcher who calls every 3 months said it is normal..they expect it and would think it odd if I did not bruise....ok...got that...but she said that there is no way I am just waking up with a ne wbruise ....I must be bumping into things....ok...generally I agree. I am clumsy at night...but I have done nothing fun or otherwise to have the huge purple mark on the inside of my thigh so....in with her and her generalizations!

oh...and thanks for the collective outrage with the bra event yesterday! So glad to know it is not just me who thinks it is ridiculous!!!

survivor11....nope- no reason to pity you ! wonder what they would have done if you had turned around and said "poor boys why would you pity them when they are the most well loved children in the school?" ...that would have stopped them!Wink

    Jo Thanks

Sandee--and everyone------why are words given a definition , if when we use them people respond in a opposite manner than the definition of the word. I have decided in the future unless I feel there is a good reason, I'm just going to keep silent until the idiot becomes so uncomfortable with the silence, they repeat their stupid question. AND then repond with "and my answer was what?.---- Deal with it----Or explain what part of my answer are you not understanding". Make him squirm.

Ducky-----your going to have a visitor at the shore this week-end . Her name is Irene. She decided to bypass us in Florida. I will hazard a guess, she will be quite messy and make a terrible visitor. Imagine a Shaker and Whirler in the same neighborhood of Virginia/DC in a week. A first on our written record, I'd bet.

Granny-----In Detroit during a bad time, a cop(no less), gave me a knife to carry to my college night classes. Mace up one sleeve, knife up the other. Until I realized I couldn't get the bloody thing open. DUH------here mugger have a weapon, duh why not two. Got rid of the knife. In the end when there was an attempted mugging. I straight armed him---that's swinging the arm straight from one direction to the far as it will go, it can carry a lot of force.-----caught him right in the eyeball. One for us girls !!!!!!!

Seriously hope no one is hurt by Irene, she's picking upforce.

at the beg.of this thread i burned my Xhusband who left me for this pig without a roof over my head with 4 kids.well that pig just died and the X is fallin apart...well shit on you....i burned both of you before.i cant burn her again because she is dead and now she has to face her maker but i can burn my X again.....feel the pain you brought to my 4 kids and me.you channged all our lives...now your alone with only your dog and one daughter who won you by default.why cant i take this smile off my face?????

Sandee----i HAVE SOMETHING THAT MAY HELP i HAVE TO REPOST IT FROM ANOTHER SITE. The whole story is complete do I won't say anymore now. Sandee it will be long ,but it will help not just you but othersWink

Survivor 11-----Have a chat with the principal and ask her to have a review with her staff regarding HIPPA violations and why. Hippa violations carry stiff violations/money penalties. I think a first offense is 25,000$. It may not apply to this situation. BUT you can Shake the Rafters. No one has the right to discuss your medical information. Go to the Hippa site, and just for satisfaction, peruse the site to see what you can find. Then quote, it to the principal. OR call the school board and ask what there rules are on Hippa and then quote those to the principal. There are times we have control , others that we don't. This is a time you can say----it's wrong and the teachers need to learn------period blunt.

Once on another thread, we found out that we were being quoted on FB. I immediately deleted my info in our sign off line. I'll share it here , but the world has no business knowing anything about me. What we write here is visible to the world---------Cluck'em

Sandee------I wrote this on another thread--------it specifically talked about arm bruising, for leg bruising try and get Ballerina leg warmers.

Plus-----stay on top of the bruising . Plavix can cause a thing called TTP--(spelling OMG) thrombocytopenic purpura. Suggest you study it well, as the average nurse hasn't got a clue.

Wenweb----in 1996, I tired to patent the sleeve you see athletes wearing. The patent was issued 14 months before my patent lawyers search. Bummer.

What brought me to the idea was. My Mom was quite ill. She reached the status that the slightest thing would cause a skin tear. In treating a skin tear, I created another one. So, my mind went to work. The easy part was wrap the whole arm in the dressing and apply the tape to the dressing, but it kept slipping. How to anchor it. I used mens knee high tube socks, Terry cloth(cushioning) Wilson brand. Tube socks b/c there was no seam. Cut the toe segment off. Slipped the toe segment up the arm over the dressing. The upper portion went to mid humerus(upper arm). The ribbed portion( which would have been at the knee) was at the wrist. Skin tear healed beautifully. At the end of one week. I also noticed that all the bruising which was extensive was gone. HMMMM. Her hand was still bruised miserably. So, cut a slit for the thumb to go through ( small) in the ribbed portion and pulled that done over her hand. The thumb was the anchor to keep it over the back of the hand. Again , in a week all bruising was gone. So, I figured we might have something. Well, 14 months to late. My Mom was delighted b/c even at 81 , her arms looking such a mess made her self conscious. After she became well, she wore them as needed for the rest of her life.I even wore them this past winter, as Florida had the coldest winter on record. With hotflashing they were easy to tear off LOL.

With a shirt on it looked like the arms of , perhaps, a turtleneck, but didn't add the warmth of a full shirt. I thought there might be an application for anyone wanting an extra layer on the arms , but not on the body. Besides what I used it for,  those that were cold sensitive, all outdoors activities, could benefit. The inventor who received the patent didn't do anything with them for along time or so I thought. I kept watching everywhere for them. The next Olympics , I saw them on some track & field Olympians. I jumped out of my chair. Bummer. We were so, committed to the idea, we spent the money for the search and name copyright, when my husband was layed off and being very careful with one income (I'm cheap).

When there appeared to be a need in my patients like my moms, I would tell them her story. The fact that I lost the patent, help to motivate them to get them LOL. The fact that it was terry cloth was lost on one family , when they brought in mens thin dress socksUndecided. The first patient, that came into the hospital, with the tube socks on, that I hadn't told, said it was being passed by word of mouth. All I could do is feel happy that one person to the next was benefiting.

Ahhhhh we all have had ideas. I looked at the money expenditure as a learning experience, not fruitful economically, but like I say the first patient that came in with them on, said it all.

I'm throwing Hurricane Irene into the fire.  I live in a flood plain and really don't want to contend with an angry bitch storm on my official crash and rest day.  Into the fire she goes!  Sizzle and pop. Lots of steam.

Grannyd-----so thought you would say exactly what you said. Too late now for the extra ideas b/c  i'm in Florida and we are used to these. Only by food that you would eat normally, i.e canned foods that will get used even if there wasn't a storm. Bleach a few --bottles---used for post storm cleanup-----mold here grows quickly. Extra TP/ paper towels/paperplates/plastic cups/trash bags ---eventually it will be used. Gas fill up the tank. Battery powered tap lights are great-----just don't mount them carry room to room. Update laundry cleaning incase no electricity. Drinking Water  for several days/drink products that you can like without being cold.  Game items that can be done in low light.  Fill tubs with water and check that they don't leak water away ---if they do you can get rubber things that prevent that------water from tubs can be used to make toilets flush. Fill outdoor gas canisters for grills----can still cook if no electricity. If your complex has a community pool tell them/ask if the have extra chlorine for quick decontamination post storm. Also they should lower  level a few inches.  Don't use candles unless then are in a container. Tea lights in a container are great. Don't use masking tape on windows -----proven worthless and horrible to get off. Link into chanell 13  central florida ---has lots of good info.       Tell residents to clear pathways in apartments so if they have to walk in low light they won't trip on things. Bug spray for skin. Spray apartments before storm for bugs------when there's to much water outdoor, bugs want a dry place.=====all the same for houses. Extra animal food -eventually will get used, but can be in short supply after a storm.  Comfort food and spirits for the worst part of the storm. -----government would totally disagree, I will aquiecese to the Government-------------------Last I heard the winds were decreasing. Here a 100MPH winds would be sniffed at, but building codes are different.

Call system or check system among residents to make sure they are ok. Update emergency call lists of families. Like I say should have written this a couple of days ago=====oh well. Hope all is well and the winds continue to decrease.

Ducky ------hope the shore house does well

Lets hope George's monument with a crack in it comes through ok.
