Mammalou- I had a lumpectomy, but I am having the same problems. My RO told me to keep stretching through the pain when it starts to feel tight. Also, I've been diagnosed with lymphadema in my breast and lateral chest wall i.e. below the arm pit I am 5 months post-rads and have ben having trouble for 2 months now. I wear a compressure bra and the swelling in my arm pit has gone done A LOT.
Granny-so that's where the swelling came from!! Hope you had a wonderful birthday! What a news story!
Gina-Are you OK? worried about you...
Sherry-hope things are going well for you...keep us posted when you can..

yeah my breast swelled from nerves...always have to be aware of it.i never put 2 AND 2 together but the next day after i cancelled my appt.my swelling went down and never came back.I did have that mammo but i took a valium before i went.

I am sooo glad October is over!! Really don't want to be constantly reminded about BC, but I do understand the need for awareness. Every time I hear the words "breast cancer" a black cloud forms over my head

mamalou- i went to a massage therapist who specializes in lymphodema..and while i don't have lymphodema , she helped looesen things up and get the lymph fluid moving. the physiotherapist helped give me movement...and helped me get my confidence back in two sessions...

SusanHG - I know what you mean. I also understand the need for awareness but there is also so much overkill in trying to get the message out. Every wonder who decided October would be the month - the same month as Halloween? Just thinking out loud.

I wondered that too Jo. The teachers at my son's school dressed up as nurses wih pink ribbons for one of the school nurses wh just found out she has BC. It seemed both strange and weirdly appropriate to be celebrating Halloween and standing behind someone with BC on the same day. It's the monster who will bite you in the behind when you're not looking.

Question for you ladies...this morning I woke up with a cord-like line going from the bottom of my right breast to my upper abdomen right quadrant. I can actually follow it by feeling..can really feel the "cordness" of it. This is the same breast had the lumpectomy 1 yr ago...finished radiation last February and have been on Anastrozole ever since. Anybody have any ideas?

je1957~no idea here, so sorry.
Hi everyone. Granny thank you so much for the prayers....I have an appt at two today with another doc to confirm sinus infection or what.....can't believe the pain....today it is a dull throbbing. Had long talk with MO office, I see her Nov 28 after scans the week of thanksgiving...we are going to talk about these nerve issues....
Susan you are right. Scary ass Halloween month, breast cancer monster - so true! How bout next year we ALL dress up as breast cancer - We will wear sandwich boards that say, "I am Breast Cancer". That's it, no special costume, cause people just don't seem to get it, any one can get it.
Any word from Sherry?

je1957 sounds like you have cording and will need to see a physical therapist to get it treated and worked on. I am 9 months post rads and just started PT a couple of weeks ago. She said my muscles look like the beginning of cording but not quiet yet so good timing that I am in PT. I also do alot of yoga but it just has not been enough. I also get regular massages for the pec muscles and lymphatic system to keep it draining properly.
I am back. Thanks all for going with me. I was in alot of pain yesterday because the tumor was laying on my chest wall muscle and according to my BS not an easy place to get to. Today the pain is much better, did not take pain pills this morning but by lunch I needed one. I have my surgical post op appt Monday afternoon and hopefully will have the path report back at that time. But BS did say that if it was malignant she would be surprised so that was good to hear. When they got me in the OR and starting cleaning the area around the wire it fell out. BS said she had never had that happen before and I looked at the mammo and you could see how there was a hook in the bottom in my breast so I don't understand how it could come out but it did. Radiologist had to come and redo it, but I was out for all that excitement and made surgery a tad longer. So know the waiting game again. WE all know how that sucks.
Gina hope you are feeling better.

Last night and today I have been having pain in my bad boob. Is this normal?
0 -
ksmatthews: How far from rads are you? I started having pain 3 months out. It seems that the scar tissue has a kind of delayed reaction. Just when you think you've gotten through radiation and the fatigue and are feeling pretty good, Bam! the pain starts, but in my case, it was normal connective tissue regeneration (scarring). If it is bothersome, I would have your RO check it out to be sure.

Sherry: Gald to hear that you have surgery behind you. Now to keep the prayers going for great path results!
Gina: Glad your back! Hope you start to feel better soon Did they give you antibiotics?

Susan I am 3 weeks out. I see my BS Tuesday so I will talk to him about it, thanks!

ksmattews~about three weeks out I started getting shooting pains from the inside out. My RO even asked me if it had started yet. He said almost all his BC patients tell him that. My pains would be real sharp almost drop me to my knees, then would go away.
I saw a new family practice doctor today, and I LOVE her! She listened to everything as we talked about my history the last year - I didn't have one before cancer- she checked my ear, no infection, she checked my throat, no infection, looked up my nose, and she really doesn't think I have a sinus infection. She said an x-ray would probably be inconclusive to "see" a sinus infection, but she was thinking that since chemo attacks rapidly producing cells an nerve endings do this as well, but it takes nerve endings a little while longer to start to regenerate, heal, etc. she thinks I have some nerve damage issues going on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Somebody grab the "validation" stamp and pop it on my forehead! Turns out I'm not nuts.
So she started me on gabapentin to see if the nerves will calm down. She thinks this will help my mouth, jaw, temple, face pain and curb the extreme itching in heat, hands in hot water etc. So this med for two weeks, if no relief then cat scan of face (I have a cat scan already scheduled with MO this month) and then if inclusive a neurologist.
So battle half won, now to get rid of this pain.

Gina - Instead of a neurologist, perhaps a pain specialist is in order if the medication does not work. Sherry and I both ended up seeing a pain specialist for our permanent nerved damage from rads. And like you, someone get that validation stamp and put it on my forehead. What a relief to know I am not nuts - LOL

For all our lovely sisters who want a vaccine/cure for this wicked disease, I noted on another thread on bco. that one gal has started fund-raising for Dr. Tuoy's research. God bless her! Seems like women have to take it upon themselves to find a vaccine/cure.

hey all I changed my bandage today and boy am I bruised. But Dr did say it was in a hard spot. I was able to switch to tylenol today. Still pretty sore but not horrible pain. Took a shower which made me feel better. DH took me to Walmart to get some bandages and then went to the nursery to get a couple of plants. Came home and went to bed, got up when a friend brought by some food and flowers ate a bite then went back to bed for a couple more hours. Guess my body needs the rest to heal. Then one of my childhood best friends called me and she wonders why I don't like telling her things. She crys and carries on like I am dying. She is one of those that her whole life is full of drama.
Hope everyone that is having pain can get it under control. Nothing more miserable than being in constant pain.

Sherry - Good to hear you are feeling better and resting. Your friend sounds like my little sister - the drama queen. They can be so tiring - no wonder you wanted to go back to bed - LOL ((((HUGS))))

Ok really strange question but were better to ask it?
I had another one of those "episodes" of extreme pain comes on in the mouth somewhere explodes to the ear, face, temple, etc.... I was due to take the new med Gabapentin so I did, and it started to subside within the hour and wasn't as severe as the "episode" on Wednesday or last Saturday. While this was occurring I was thinking to myself, I wonder if the barometric pressure is changing, seeing that right before it looks like it wants to rain the last two had happened. I was inside at the time, an hour later go outside and the sky is full of dark clouds wanting to rain.....
Weird huh? Anybody else have new "football" injury pain?
0 -
Gina---I was told a long time ago that the barometric pressure either going up or down has something to do with all kinds of pain...like headaches, body aches etc.I can tell when its gonna rain 2 days before it actually happens.my back starts to hurt.As for the headaches since i stopped eating dairy i really dont get them anymore.you might want to try that.I wish you pain free days honey....enuf!!!!!

Gina - I can tell you when it is going to rain - the left knee starts giving me fits. Also when the barometric pressure changes, I get terrible sinus headaches. Guess the weather does have something to do with all kinds of body aches and pains. Hope the medication works for you and you have pain free days.

Sagina: I read your post about the pain you have been having. I too am having the same symptoms for the last few days. I am 2 weeks post radiation tomorrow. The pain starts as an aching in jaw area, almost like a tooth ache, then headache, ear ache and severe temple pain. Not sure if this is related to radiation or the weather or the car accident las"t week.....uugh!!! Ibuprofen takes the edge off but the area feels very "tense?" It is the opposite side of my face than the bc was. Feeling a little nuts myself. I also started Zoladex injections and Femara genric this week..........soooooo confused!!

tamcathtech - Why did your onc decide to do the zoladex/femara instead of tamoxifen?0
-
Omaz-- I have been on Lexapro for depression/anxiety and when I was intially diagnosed in June my primary doctor added Wellbutrin to the mix. I have had a long standing history of depression/anxiety and my brother is diagnosed bipolar. Instead of taking me off these meds(they are not capatible with Tamoxifen) and switching me to Effexor she decided not to change this plan. I have a past history of endometriosis so I see the zoladex is also used to treat that as well. I am not planning on having children, and I am only 39 so not sure how long I will keep up with this before I go for surgical intervention. I had been on Depo Provera in the past due to the endometriosis years ago so we'll see how things go.

Thanks Tam - Sounds like a good plan. I think I will be switching to femara soon too. Chemo put me into menopause and as soon as my doc is sure my periods aren't coming back I think he will switch me to the AI. I hope it works well. This is all so much sometimes! Take care.
And - Big Congrats on getting through Rads!!!
