Since we live so far away, we took our motorhome up to Lincoln and stayed in it for the 5 days I was having Brachytherapy. Worked out well for us...
Have been on Letrozole (chemical name for Femara) for about 6 weeks now. Only side effect so far is hot flashes. More than I remember having while going through menopause (I am 68 now) but still livable, especially when I consider a possible alternative.....
My RO offered a free massage on Thurs. It really was a nice 'treat'.......

I need prayers for my friend the 27 yr cancer survivor.first breast then colon.im goin there now and it doesnt sound good.i never did this before so needless to say im a wreck.this damn cancer sure does suk!!!!!0

Sorry I've been away from the boards, I missed you all!!!!!!!!!!! My DD is keeping me busy and exhausted....she has a two week contract job starting today so it should be a little more normal around the house, then she's off back to college.
Jo my mom took Tamoxifen for five years - she always complained of joint pain and bone pain. She insisted on a bone scan every 6 months it seemed like. Her hair also was a little brittle and dry from that as well....oh but with all this, did I tell you she's a 13 year survivor?

Wow!!!!!!!!all the wonderful prayers worked for me!!!!!just me!!!!I feel so strong while my friend is so weak.forget about prayin for me....i think the world is prayin for me but her (Phyllis) she needs the prayers...i feel like i hog now....
And im getting flashbacks of my own nightmare but im strong...really strong....didnt think i could do this.....Thank you again for all those prayers..
I dont really know how she is doin except she looks bad,sick,tired,crying.eful.just keep prayin please....HAVE I TOLD YOU LATELY HOW MUCH I HATE CANCER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One more thing to worry about. Gee my Dad died at 49 of a massive heart attach so I have the bad genes anyway. Did not want any help from radiation

I have heart disease in my family too. My dad had bypass surgery, my mom has had a major heart attack that the doctors can't believe she lived through, my oldest brother had bypass surgery at 50, my next brother had bypass surgery at 48, and my youngest brother had angioplasty at 39. Scary stuff! I know that I received some low dose radiation to part of my heart. Maybe I should see if I should start seeing a cardiologist to keep a good eye on things.

Granny praying for you and your friend. I really dont know if this is the place, but I have a few friends the need lots of prayers too.
The first one is Lisa who is doing chemo Tac/Cyt now. Tomorrow will be treatment #2 for her.
The second is Vickie who has brain cancer and due to the location they will not do chemo or rad. Now she has another tumor on her brain and they dont know yet if it is cancer or not. She is going to Duke to see her dr this week.
The third is Janet, she had BC 15 years ago and started hurting in her side and alot of vomitting. They thought it could be her gallbladder. After xrays and ct scan, they have told her she has a huge mass in her lungs and alot of lesions on her liver. She is in icu. Scheduled to have a biopsy on liver Tuesday. The dr's have told the family she only has 3 to 4 months. So without a biopsy they already must be sure it is cancer!
Granny I am with you I HATE Cancer!!!! When does this nightmare end?

KS Mathews...anyplace on BCO is fine.this is the after rads thread.well it used to be anyway....we do everything here...lots of prayin but then again we pray on all the sites...please post on all the sites you go on.....you can never get enough prayer.
I know i can speak for the sistas here.We will be prayin for everyone on your list.

ksmatthews I will pray for your friends. I wanted to add that your friend with the brain tumor may want to look in to Proton Radiation. there are not many places in the US that provide it but MD Anderson in Houston is one of them. I have a friend who is battling lung cancer and has leasons in his brain. They had already done traditinal radiation on him and did not feel they could do it again but did do the proton. Proton is able to deliver much smaller beams and targets the tumors better without destroying health tissue like breast radiation does. It is housed in a three story building just for this type of therapy. Just wanted to pass this along so your friend can ask about it.

Thanks girls. I will definatly tell her to check on the proton radiation. They told her at Duke that because of the location she could lose her memory and speech. Maybe proton they could do.

Does anyone else have weak/ sore muscles? I was doing an activity for 20 min. yesterday that involved squatting and today I can barely walk, because my leg muscles are hurting so bad. I also notice if I sit for a long period of time that when I get up I am like an 80 year old woman. I called my Onc office and the nurse just told me to take ibuprophen. Is this normal for us?
