Yay Kathy!!! So glad that your DH has agreed with the good sense of utilizing the Church Hall........is that a big sigh of relief I hear?.......lol. I'm sure it will mean far less work for you.
Sas I love watching the birds! There's not a whole heap I can name but I just like to watch them as they go about their daily business. I have a pair of black birds that live in my garden and each year they build their nest in my weeping myrtle and every year they think I don't know where it is but I watch it to see the babies grow and watch usually as they take their first flight.........fascinating.
I have finally chose the photos to be put into the exhibition at the Gallery in my home town. They will be for sale and hopefully someone will like them and buy. These are the ones, the first three are A4 size and the last three are 6x4 matted as a triptich.
All bar the rainbow were taken just outside my town and the rainbow was taken from my back yard.0 -
Love them!

I would buy the first one. Can you tell I'm starved for blue sky and feel oppressed by all the fir trees here? There are places in eastern Oregon with similar landscapes as the last 3. I grew up in Oklahoma and lived in Texas. You could see for miles in both places. DH says his eyes are tired if there are no mountains to stop his view. Great photos Chrissy!0 -
what a view from your back yard, Crissy.. the rainbow is my favorite, cause I'm feeling so "sunny" these days (sic)
Hope all is well with everyone.3jays0 -
I love the idea of having the three pictures together but apart.0 -
Love, love, love the photos (both Lisa's and Chrissy's)
I've been trying to download photos from my DD's old phone onto my computer so she doesn't lose them and for some reason my computer won't recognize her phone. Driving me slowly over the edge.
I had my bday trip to NYC. We had a great time. Saw all the sights. I will post pics after I finally get to work with my phone. We saw the play Wicked. What a joy. A great memory. We also went to the Ground Zero Memorial. It was intense.
Then last night was my sleep study night. That was not so much fun. I probably got as much sleep as I usually get, but all the wires and being in a different place and having to ask to get unhooked just to go to the bathroom was not comfortable. They will have a report for me in about 2 weeks.
I am going to start a low calorie diet and work on exercise soon. I have got to get more energy. Anyway keeping on with the journey.
Good luck with the show, chrissy
good to "see" everyone.0 -
Try my Fast Diet, I lost 25 pounds and two dress sizes so far..started in April..
eat normally except for two days a week not consecutively only have 500 calories..
no book to buy...0 -
That sounds like the diet DD wanted to try. I think she doesn't want to admit that she can't do stuff like that with type 2 diabetes. I can just see what her blood sugar would look like on the "normal" days.0 -
Chrissy, love all the photos, but especially the first one. Such vivid colors! They all will sell, absolutely. The rainbow is gorgeous, and never in my life have I seen one like that.
Lisa, that diet sounds like something I could do. What do you eat on the 500 calorie days? You've had really good results.
So glad you had such a good time, Nancy. I long to see NYC again, but it's a long expensive trip for us. The last time we went we went to Ground Zero too but it wasn't nearly as complete as it is now. The only thing I've ever seen that matched its intensity is the Holocaust Museum in DC.
3 jays, it's so good to see you here again. I look for you every time I come on.
Nancy, almost forgot. Is your sleep study for apnea? If so, I'm a veteran at that and have used a bi-pap for almost 10 years. I'd be happy to answer any questions if needed.
We did get snow, but like they said, just a dusting. Very pretty, though.
Kathy0 -
Kathy, the study was to see why I was waking up so often, I don't think it is because of breathing issues. I think it is twitchy muscles, hot flashes or scary dreams because I startle awake. Anyway, they gave me a questionnaire to fill out afterwards and I told the nurse she should fill it out because she had been watching me all night. But she said that she knew all the answers, they wanted to see what my perception was, I answered most of the questions with I don't know. LOL
We got snow, too. Very pretty, just a dusting to 2", but it's hung around for 2 days. The first day, a man tried to stop his car for a truck that was pulling out of my road (I guess without looking) and skidded on the road and mowed down all the mailboxes (including mine). No one was hurt, luckily. It's happened before, they get put right back up. Just have to go collect my mail from General Delivery for a couple of days.
The diet I am going to try is monitored by my doctor and is a meal replacement one. It is fast weight loss and then education so one does not gain the weight back. I have lost 15 pounds on my own in the last year, but I can't seem to keep it going. Of course, eating out while on vacation has not been helping. I want to feel good again. I am willing to try anything at this point. lol
I think I would like your diet, better, lisa.0 -
My Mother was obese and a yo yo dieter. I was born overweight and struggled with it until I was 50. I decided I wasn't going to yo yo. I started by cutting desserts to half servings, lost 4 or 5 lbs and maintained a couple of months. Then I gradually cut back on other portion sizes, gradually and in steps. The point was to never cut enough to feel deprived and to allow periods of maintenance. Took about a year and a half to reach my 50 lb goal but when I did I had no trouble keeping it off. Unfortunately, when I started Tamoxifen (couldn't tolerate the Als) I lost weight, almost 70 lbs. Now I am struggling to gain it back. Believe me, I would rather be back on the other side of the equation.
Edited to add:
At almost 230 I wore a size 20. Now at 102 a size 8 fits. And I'm almost 5"10".0 -
For my two 500 calorie days, I have a fiber bar and coffee with 1% milk, yogurt with fruit for lunch and a large bowl of soup I make with chicken or beef broth, veggies and a little pasta that I measure for two of us 1/3 cup dry pasta..I am sure it can be done for those with sugar problems..and it is only two days...if you crave something have it the next day, like pizza or whatever.." The Week" magazine had an article showing it was very healthy..0 -
I'm not worried about the 500 calorie days. I think she would feel she had permission to go wild on the other days. She loves carbs, poor thing. Probably inherited that from me. I would be happy with just carbs and vegetables. Your menu sounds good to me.0 -
Lisa, that diet sounds like most anyone could do it. I just might give it a try too.
Nancy, we use the excuse that Southerners don't know how to drive on snow because we so rarely get any, but you're in MA. Maybe the guy who mowed down the mailboxes was from the south!

lol kathy.
wow picture posting is so much easier. The mods say that the donations in marybe's memory helped make that possible.
picture out window of hotel room in NYC. It never got dark!!!! There was always a ray of light coming through the shade. No wonder no one ever sleeps.
I am so sad about veggy!0 -
Taking a picture of the statue of liberty in the distance.0 -
Wow Nancy, what a view! All that reflective glass, no wonder it never gets dark and no one sleeps........lol. As much as I like to sleep with an open window I think there I would be using blackout curtains!.......lol. Sounds like you had a ball!
I've got to get back to dieting and loose some more of this flab. Thank goodness summer is here and it's much easier to eat the right way than through winter.........I don''t know about you but in winter I want to eat all those stick to your ribs type foods.....you know the one, those that also stack on the lbs?.......and it's so chilly and wet all you want to do is sit by the fire and not move so you don't burn those calories.......sigh!.....Oh I wish I were young again when I could eat what I liked and still looked like a stick insect!......those were the days......lol.
Enjoy your weekend all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy0 -
Chrissy, Wish I could eat like I did when I was young but for a different reason. I was born chubby (10.5 lbs) and was a chubby child. From the age of 12 until I turned 57 I was never less than 20 lbs overweight. Then in 1999 I got pancreatitis, lost 100 lbs and it damaged my digestive system. Untill the BC dx I had only managed to get back to 20 lbs below goal weight.
Tamoxifen took me right back down to 100. I'm 5 ft 10. Three weeks ago my MO took me off that and put me on a different anti-hormonal that also promotes weight gain and I've gained 6 lbs but I've still got a long way to go. I would much rather be back on your side of the equasion.

Hugs Chabba that's tough. Have a SiL like you and she can't gain weight.
Beautiful morning here in late spring. Have decide I need to change out of my jeans as they are too warm.
Big hugs to all0 -
My PCP runs a weight loss program out of her office. It is a meal replacement program. I am going to start soon. It is fast weight loss and then learning about maintenance so one does not gain lbs back. It feels extreme, but I want to just get to feeling better and have more energy. I will be medically monitored the whole time. Since I had my babies I have been heavier than I should. I am petite (read short) so I am only suppose to weigh 120. The last time I lost weigh was when my DS was training to get into the Marines. We did an intense exercise program. I liked it so much I kept doing it. But lately I get so tired all the time, I don't do much exercising at all. So we will see what happens. I'm gonna miss food!!! Seriously I am going to miss cooking.0 -
On the positive side, when I was on a diet I still had to cook for my DH who eats full meals...0 -
My DD is leaving tomorrow, so I only have to prepare the dog's meals after that. But I will have to get through Thanksgiving and the holiday season. I'll get to eat a little bit on those days I would assume.0 -
Is anyone here? Just wondering, since no one's posted in days.
I could say I was busy getting ready for the holidays, but have shopped only for the grandkids and DH. DD and I go shopping the Saturday after Thanksgiving so she can help me with what she needs and also her DH. Never have been a Black Friday shopper. Honestly, this is the earliest I've ever shopped at all, since I dislike shopping in general, and folks who get up in the wee hours to shop on the day after Thanksgiving can have it!
Come to think of it, I do need to buy turkeys tomorrow for Thanksgiving and Christmas while they're on sale!
Hope everyone is well, and love to all.

Hi Kathy! I've been busy getting my photos ready for the gallery and they are now up on the wall........the opening for the exhibition is tomorrow night. I've been getting ready also for the annual Aussie Girls get together, it is being held in Sydney this year and am really looking forward to catching up with those who can make it from last year and to meet the new girls who are able to make it.
This time of year is always busy for me as three of the four grands have their birthdays and the eldest turned eighteen this year so a bigger celebration was in order. It looks like December is going to be just as busy as I get back from Sydney on the 1st then I have to go to the city on the 5th to have dinner with my kids to celebrate my birthday and then on the 6th get to see the ENT re this darn deafness. GS number 4 has his birthday on the 17 and he insists that I bake his cake.......the only year I haven't is the year I had my mastectomy......and then I have to transport it to the city for his celebration.
To top all that, they all descend on me for Christmas and usually stay for three or four days so my little cottage becomes one big bed........lol.......thank goodness the weather is usually very warm so we can spend a lot of time outside! Sometime in amoungst all that I need to do some shopping both for food and gifts.......not sure when but if I start now I should be able to get 'er done.......lol.
Have a great day!
Love n hugs. Chrissy0 -
Hi all
Like to see this thread more active. Went shopping today - our big and still quite exclusive department store had a sale and everyone goes crazy. Evidently all the well do do ladies were lined up before the store opened and there was a great rush to get in. Didn't get in until midday and it was still crazy. Got a few things -its really worth it.
Then on the way home I stopped at a light and the car behind didn't, not too much damage but its going to be a pain. Hoping it can be done while I am away.
Must go and have a bath as I am a bit sore.
Big hugs0 -
Chrissy, your post made me almost out of breath! You surely do have a lot going on. Am glad the pictures are hung and ready for the opening. Good luck with it and I hope they all sell!
Alyson, so sorry about your accident, and I imagine you are very sore today! DH and I got rear-ended once (at a light, like your accident) and we were very sore for the next few days. Hot baths do help some, but time helps more.
I did buy 2 turkeys today, one for Thanksgiving and a 20-pounder for DH's family Christmas. I've never cooked a turkey that big before but I'll do that one and probably an additional turkey breast. We may not need all that much turkey, but never know how many until the actual event and it's better to be safe. This crowd will have no problem taking leftovers home with them either, so that's a plus. I'm wondering if I could thaw the big one in one of the church refrigerators too.
Hope everyone has a good weekend!
Kathy0 -
Wow Kathy! That's one huge turkey! How many days will it take to thaw? OMG! I just thought, how many hours to cook the darn thing?! I've never cooked a whole turkey but I have done a breast but I like smoked turkey breast.....yummm........particularly on a crispy bread roll with cranberry sauce, lettuce and tomato.........oh darn!, now I'm hungry and want one of those.......haven't got any of it so will have to raid the fridge instead.
Aly I do hope you are not feeling too sore today after getting bumped yesterday.
Yup, I'm on a wall. I do hope they are liked and enough that I sell at least a couple so I can recoup what I've laid out to get them there.........it had amazed me just how expensive that was.
It is a cool overcast day........I was hoping for a day of sunshine as my friends daughter got married today.......oh well, it could be worse, at least it's not raining!
Have a great weekend all.
Love n hugs. Chrissy0 -
I had a 20 pound turkey and it just fit in our oven, but it almost didn't. Our kids alternate between us and the in laws so this year we're just us instead of 14. I had five of my ancestors on the Mayflower and all made it through the winter so were at the first Thanksgiving,so this holiday means a lot to us. I can't imagine what they endured.0 -
Wow Lisa! What a family history! No wonder Thanksgiving is so special to you.........and that's how it should be.0 -
I was thinking that your family know the real meaning of Thanksgiving.
It is summer and we have had our first BBQ0
