Oh Wow Kathy!! Snow in NC? I didn't think you would get know there.........just shows how much I know......lol. I do so hope that the snow days don't extend the school year so much that your DD doesn't get her full six weeks and that the bub doesn't arrive before the school term ends.
That tea party was a lot of fun, and I had almost forgotten what it was like to converse with little girls.........lol........they are just so different than the grown up ones. Hubby and I are madly planning this trip to France, both of us on the computer doing a whole heap of research into where we want to go and what we want to do, accommodation, car etc........all the things that make a holidays fun.
Love n hugs to all! Chrissy

Last week was the best week! On Sunday I had the "Prayerbook Party" for my granddaughter. In the religious schools here in Israel when the first-graders are reading they receive their first prayerbook. The "party" is songs and dances they do for the parents, then each child is called up. They are all SO excited. Monday was another granddaughter's "Prayerbook Party" (the cousins are 3 weeks apart) so I was one happy lady. On Tuesday I went on a 3-day retreat held my an organization called Beit Natan, which offers support services for women with cancer. I've been going to the yearly retreat since I was dx and it's just wonderful. The hotel spoils us, and the activities are wonderful. This week - not fun. On Monday I had a liver biopsy (checking if HER2 changed from - to +). Awful. Local anesthesia for that procedure is a joke.
Thurs I start the new chemo.
I want last week again.

Lisa, I used t stay at Desi and Lucy's Indian Wells Resort every year. My friend and I attended a big Realtor convention, she is handicapped ane the smaller hotel suited us so much better. It is a lovely place and suited our needs. Wish I could go back once more. Wilsie.

I am having a rough time. Latest treatment failed, markers doubled in a week. Colostomy still difficult, they are threatening a stomach tube for nutrition. Very weak and depressed. Need prayers. Wilsie.

Wilsie, Sending prayers your way. I hope your docs find a treatment that works for you. Lots of gentle hugs to you. ((Wilsie)). Much love, lilyros

Chrissy......was looking for something and saw your name......so long since we have talked......sometimes you get on certain threads and have a tendency to forget the ones you were on before.......but you never forget the people.......so many familiar names I see....Carol, QCA, and there's my gal Ally.......fancy meeting you here.
Hope all my sensible ladies are doing ok.........I won't be a stranger, going to put you in my Favorites and will stop by soon.......missed you all.....hugs

Wilsie, thinking of you, and hope it gets better for you. if i pray before my bed tonight, then it will surely be for you. because i also think you should get well enough to go and see indian wells one more time. I am sorry for your trouble. How come they havent tried herceptin yet on you?!?!?! I would ask for it, because I have read about women, even ones who were low expressors of her2, ask for and get it. Because tumors are not heterogenous. Myself, I was equivocal, but they decided to treat me like i was a +, and it is pretty gentle on you. Thinking of you.

Oh Wils, I'm so sorry that your last treatment didn't work. Keeping my fingers crossed that you will find something that kicks cancer's butt really soon but in the meantime, you are in my prayers.
Yay Ducky!!! Nice to see you here!! Just as an aside, there are times when we are not all that sensible but we do try........hahahahaha! Don't be a stranger girl, make sure you pop in a little more often!
Hey Tomboy, nice to see you here as well.
Like all threads, we have periods when everyone is busy for a number of reasons and that's okay. I just want to put it out there that I do read mostly every day but there are the occasional times when I am absent for a little while like everyone else.........I call it 'life taking over' and that's a good thing. For those who need support or an ear, I am never far away for long.
Some happy news, we have booked our flights for France!!! The trip once again has ballooned, (now why was I not prepared for that to happen......lol), and we are going for six weeks instead of four! Can't say I wanted to say 'oh no dear, we can't be away that long', I just felt like hugging myself (and then hubby) and dance around the kitchen when he told me.......yay!!!!!!!! Now comes the time when we will be liaising with the travel agent to get everything else into place and organized so when we get there everything will be a breeze.
Stay warm and well all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

prayers are starting to work. I had a good night and was able to eat a bit. Adriamiciy starts Monday, I know it's tough but better than doing nothing. Wilsie.

Yay Wilsie!!! hopefully that will be the start of many good nights for you. So glad you were able to eat a bit as you need to build your strength. Slowly does it as every little bit helps. Sending more prayers that the Adramyacin is not too tough on your already fragile system and that it kicks cancer butt big time!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Wilsie, great that you had a good night and were able to eat! I so hope this will be a turn-around and things will look up from here. Isn't Adriamycin the one called the Red Devil? Well, let it live up to its name and do its best stuff for you!! Prayers.
Chrissy, I'm so excited for you and your DH! SIX WEEKS!!! I'm having fun thinking about what my DH and I would do on a 6 week vacation in another country---it would be interesting to say the least!. What are some of the things you want to do and see?
Hi Tomboy--I don't believe I've welcomed you, but glad to see you!
Lisa, love the little bird!
We did NOT get the "snowstorm of the century" that was predicted, despite all the television coverage, weather alerts, bare grocery shelves, school closings, government office closings, road brining, etc, etc. The Raleigh area and areas north of there got substantial amounts, but in the Charlotte area we got rain and temps just above freezing.
Hope we all have a good weekend!
Kathy
PS: Hey Ducky--good to see you.

Beautiful native beech forest where friends have a cabin or as we say a Bach.

Wilsie, I so much hope the new tx works well and is not too difficult for you. When I was on the Red Devil (at Stage III) I would find that I absolutely could not eat a few foods though others tasted normal. To add to the weirdness, after each tx (once every other week) it was something else I couldn't eat but stuff I hadn't been able to eat on earlier tx went back to being OK.Chrissy, that trip to France sounds wonderful. Pictures! Pictures! Pictures!
So I didn't start my new chemo. I went in on Thurs as scheduled and the secretary pulled out my file, on the cart with all the Thurs files, and there's a note clipped to it from my onc saying they should tell me no tx this week - he wanted more healing time from Monday's liver biopsy. A very sweet young DUMB AND INEFFICIENT volunteer had clipped it to my file instead of giving it to the secretary. Sigh. I'll start on Wednesday.

There is something magical about butterflies
0 -
There certainly is, Lisa. These are gorgeous!
Today was a rain-free, warm, beautiful day here and late this afternoon DH and I went for a drive in the country looking for signs of spring. Somehow we eventually wound up at our favorite ice cream shop too, so it was a good day.
This thread is too quiet lately! Wilsie, I'm thinking of you and hoping you're improving and able to eat more, and Leah, hope you had an uneventful start to the new chemo and are doing well. (That was a real crackerjack volunteer, too!)

Hi girls! Great pics Lisa! Love butterflies and you certainly have captured that one well.
Kathy, what a nice way to end a drive........icecream is good no matter that the weather is like.......lol.
I am in Cairns at the moment, arrived here yesterday. What a shock to the system as it is very warm and humid here, and and thank goodness my BIL's house is fully air conditioned, it makes it a little easier to manage. The last two days have been spent catching up with family but the next couple will be spent with the camera in hand........yes, I will share....lol.
Wilsie I hope you are doing okay.
Love n hugs to all. Chrissy

Lisa how is the arm?
Wet day here we are pleased about the rain but sad the storm has caused extreme damages further north of NZ. it is now heading for the East Coast where it should hit about midday.
Real bad pain in back today so now have to see what can be done about it.
It is time I got up.

Tomorrow is the big day for my arm. I hope I get a good orthopedic surgeon.

Here's our Anna, age 19 months. Copy/paste job, so I didn't know how to make it smaller. Her world's going to be rocked in about 3 weeks when baby brother arrives! Love the overalls.
Lisa, I hope the surgeon's the best there is and that all goes well for you! That was a heck of a thing to happen and I'm so sorry.

SoCalLisa, I hope you are feeling no pain, I bet you are staying away from writing here, I do hope you are alright, and can peck with one hand soon and let us know.
Wilsie, i am thinking of you, and praying for you too. I hope they are taking very good care of you while you are doing the adriamycin, and i do hope it blasts you back to a good semblance of health... I am going to try and keep you in mind today.
Hope everyone else is okay too.

Love it Lisa. Autumn is coming in our part of the world.
One of our strange birds a Takahe. They are actually quite large and they are real clowns. They were thought to be extinct but a few were discovered some years ago and through a breeding programme there are now quite a number but they are still endangered.
