wow!! Lisa those pictures are magnificent!! As was the nature itself, I am sure! Was it really hot?

chrissy, yes, I think this visit was meant to happen this year, not last. Of course, my DS "decided" to come down this weekend to pick up his kayak, I'm sure it is just to check out my cousin and see what's happening. I think he is a little freaked out by this latest health issue also. Anyway, I will have a full house this weekend.

My doc told me to try to give my body time to relax and heal, but like you I was always a doer. It feels so unnatural to me to lay down and read a book. But I am trying. So rest up, so you can do more tomorrow. lol

I am in the city again at my eldest DD's house. She tripped and fell in her back yard on Thursday night and has broken her nose as well as badly bruised other parts of herself. Luckily the break is not displaced but she is very sore, swollen and bruised none the less. I will be here a few days just to keep an eye on her.

Nancy it sounds like you have a house ful for sure.........yes, it sounds like your son wanted to check things out for sure......lol. Aren't kids funny sometimes, it's almost as if they think we can't take care of ourselves....lol. Hope your weekend goes well. As for resting and learning to do little, I have learned over time to spend my energies doing knitting, sewing, crochet and anything else I can do with my hands.......at least then one part of the body is 'busy'.

    Have a good one all!

    Love n hugs. Chrissy

oh, your poor DD! Pain in your face is the worst!

My cousin arrived. And we've been having a good time. I've been showing her around. But we got a bit of a cool down and she is very chilled. She is talking about going back to Hawaii all ready. We looked up some flights tonight, but she didn't want to book until tomorrow morning for some reason. Anyway, it has been great to see her. My DD and I will probably drive her back to the city wednesday night so she can get a flight on Thursday morning.

Nancy so great that you and your cousin are having a good time. After living in the tropics myself, I understand how cold she feels about the temperature cool down........lol. It would be like you visiting the Arctic in the dead of winter! It really doesn't matter how long she has stayed as long as you both have enjoyed the time you have had together.

Still with DD and looks like I will be here for a while yet.

Hey there folks, so we have moved with thirty days notice. Owner decided to sell and although we believed it would be a year we were given a sudden notice. Apparently her sister had taken second mortgages on the property that the, now deceased, mother didn't know about. So the functioning sister finds out that the property is in deep debt. Sooooo we now live in another suburb of Seattle and are trying to cram into a house that is 700 sq feet smaller and has a two car garage vs the five car garages we had. We tried to donate, trash and otherwise get rid of things but we still have rooms filled with boxes plus the garage. We were on 5 acres and now have a backyard that is 14 feet deep with 6 ft side yards. Ai yi yi. Eventually we may get mostly unpacked. Maybe. My back is just so bad now that I cant pick up one thing. My poor husband has had to do so much work. We even paid the movers to pack the kitchen and dining room and our housekeeper stayed longer on her day to pack.

Now the old landlord is trying to keep our money even though the inspection was perfect. I have a sinking feeling she doesn't have it. Laws here are strict and we were supposed to get our deposit back in 14 days. Nopy nope, no money.

I go see the Onc just for a checkup in July. No mammo.

My first cousin who had been clear for 12 years and had a recurrance and then went to stage four, now has another recurrance. She is in chemo this time. I feel awful for her. She is a couple years older than me and I will be 70 in June.

On the good side, this house is really well set up except for it being two story. It has little extras like silent light switches, no big water heater just small ones, good wiring and really nice back yard deck, small but quite perfect. I like this house and it is closer to our DD and Sil and DGD. That I love!

Lisa your photos of Utah and Sedona are just beautiful.

Chrissie, a new Grandbaby? So good to snuggle a new baby.

Hi everybody, I miss you all but it is good that I am more seperate from BCO now.

I think of everyone. Love to you all! Ginger

Chrissy, when I fell and broke my arm three months ago, my 95 year old mother who lives in Florida was so

heartbroken she couldn't come out here and help me...guess it goes with the territory.

Oh Lisa, I'm so sorry. How much longer will you be in a cast after the surgery? That is such a bummer. Just when you thought you might be set free.

  • chrissyb
    chrissyb Member Posts: 11,438

Oh Lisa what a bugger! I can only assume that it is not healing and needs a plate for added stability and strength. Any idea yet as to when the op is scheduled? I sure hope it encourages the healing so you can get rid of the plaster.

ginger, nice to hear from you. glad you are settled again.

lisa, oh rats about the upcoming surgery.

well, my cousin's trip was short and sweet. We got a cold spell 2 days after she got here and she was freezing the whole time. Remember she wanted to move here to live with me. I'm not sure what has happened in her life to make her so timid and anxious. She needed to know where I was going to be every minute of the day. Would not venture off on her own. She was very concerned about my up coming procedure and would I have to stay away overnight. I said I had no idea what was going to happen we'd just take it as it comes. So she decided she had made a mistake, would I buy her a ticket home. I said sure. My DD volunteered to drive us up to the city Wed. night so we could stay overnight in a hotel and then put her on a plane the next morning. We had to get an attendant to take her through security and to the gate. It was great to see her, but I feel bad for her. I think she had been in a bad relationship for a number of years and it took a toll on her. My DS says to me "at least, you can travel by your self!" ha ha He is such a card.

Anyway, I am back to living by myself again, waiting on my other house to be ready. Windows are going in this week and the kitchen cabinets are said to be here on the island. Slow progress, but progress nonetheless.

can't wait til we see the finished house, I bet you too

  • macatacmv
    macatacmv Member Posts: 1,200

Oh I am soo tired of waiting for this house to be done!!!!!

I had my pre op appt with GYN today. She scheduled the procedure for July 2nd. Seems very far away. But she said she'd take care of what ever was there at that time. She wants to get biopsies of all 4 quadrants. Sounds like fun to me, not. We did a pee test to see if I have an infection or something since I am so uncomfortable. So we'll see what that reveals.

I get a little confused when talking to doctors. They seem to try to cover all the bases, but still don't tell you exactly what's going to happen.

NO SURGERY, at least not now...Love my new orthopedic trauma surgeon...I didn't even know that speciality existed, but he is great and does he know broken bones..that is what he does...so will use bone healing machine and PT for now...he listened to me..

Nancy your house is coming on a treat and the pics are great! I know when you are doing renovation they never seem to end but eventually you can look back and smile at tall the mess that was.

You will find that July 2nd will come around quicker that you think. I'm glad that you are happy with your Gyno and that she is going to take care of what ever she finds. Waiting is the hardest thing to do.

Lisa. yay! No surgery yet! I sure hope that the treatment he has lined up for you works a treat and you never need to have surgery at all.

Still down with my daughter and looks like I will be here for some time yet.

    Love n hugs all! Chrissy

Lisa, I'm glad you like the surgeon and hope with you that he doesn't have to use his surgical skills.  I really like that he listened to you!  Your vacation pictures were stunning, BTW.

DH and I've been keeping  the baby DGS for the past 5 days as DD had to return to school for the duration, but Friday will be the last day.  DH remarked yesterday how much more tired he is this time around, and I reminded him that it's been 6 years since we kept a baby full time and those years have taken their toll.

Nancy, love the house in progress.  I can understand why you're getting impatient and I surely would too, but it's looking great so far and can only get better.

Chrissy, I'm so sorry about your DD's injury but glad you're able to help out.  I've never had a broken nose but DH has and said the pain was dreadful with it.  I know she's glad you're with her through this.

I still have A-Fib and go back to the cardio. a week from today.  At least I think I still have it.  I try not to think about it a lot because I'm one of the most suggestible people on the planet.

    Ginger, you're a downsizing champ!

turns out I have a bladder infection or UTI. So I am on antibiotics. Now it is good that it will take a few weeks for me to get this procedure.

Chrissy, is this the body builder DD?

Kathy, isn't it funny how just a couple of years can make so much difference in our energy levels these days? My DD is in the count down for school ending too! I sure hope you can get your afib under control. It takes a while for the meds to work their magic.

Hey did I tell you all that I get to take a break from the tamoxifen until I get my results.

My DS is driving me crazy. He calls and asks for my opinion, then does not like what I have to say. He is looking for a new job. This is the busy time here. We're in a tourist resort area. So I mention that there are great paying jobs here for the summer. So he humors me and sets up an interview with a package delivery company. They say in an email to him to show up clean shaven and properly dressed. So now he doesn't want to shave his goatee. (which I have personally wanted gone for a while) Oh boy, I gotta let this one go!!! He thinks I'm just trying to get him to move home. Like force him to live on this island that lots of people pay good money to come visit. sheesh!

We took our youngest son out for his 41st birthday dinner. We were down at the harbor, but it is a gray and misty evening. I am glad I am home in my warm PJs...

A friend of mine told me that when her adult kids would tell her about their latest plans, no matter what they said, she would always reply, "Great Idea!" I tried it and it worked pretty well.

    Lisa nice sailing ship.

Kathy little ones tend wear me out after only a short time now so I really admire your grit in taking care of your GS for so long and still be on your feet and functioning. Sure hope your visit to the Cardio gives you good news!

Nancy it's horrible to say but I'm glad part of your problem is a UTI and a dose of anti B's will cle.ar it up quickly. Yay for getting a Tamox break while you wait for your procedure....just goes to show that there are sliver linings to just about anything......lol. Kids, no matter how old they are, seem to want to hear Mom's opinion and then ignore every word we say. I think I would be telling your son that if he doesn't want to earn good money that you have no problem with him doing as he chooses but, when he works it out that he is cutting his own throat, don't whinge and grumble to you. I usually start by saying,'if it were me, I would..........' that way they seem to take it that the choice is theirs.

The DD I'm with is my eldest, the bodybuilder is my younger DD.

Wow Lisa! The way that flag is hanging says it is windy and the sky is so grey that I can almost feel how cold it is.......lol. Nothing like being home and tucked up all warm in your PJ's.....best way to relax if you ask me.....lol.

Looking forward to bed tonight as I am so tired after cleaning DD's windows. They were hard to see through so I thought it time they were done.....lol.

    Take it easy all! Chrissy

Sending good wishes for healing for Nancy, Lisa, and Chrissy's daughter.

Last night I went to the Art Garfunkel concert. Best concert EVER. The tickets were our anniversary gift from our kids. Best kids ever, too!

Thanks Leah for the good wishes for my DD, much appreciated.

I too love Art Garfunkel! He seems very popular with our generation and a lot of the younger ones as well. I have never been to a concert done by him but would dearly love to. Lucky you for being able to and wow! What great kids to think of getting the tickets for you!

How are you faring Leah? We haven't heard from you for a while so I really hope everything is going okay.

Getting tired but a couple of early nights just might fix that .......or not. I have been doing a lot of things that I usually get someone else to do at home but I need to get DD organised to make things easier when she is better able to get to things herself. Cleaning cupboards is not my favourite thing but getting rid of a whole lot of flotsam will go a long way to helping sort things out.

    Take it easy all!

    Love n hugs. Chrissy

We went to a Simon & Garfunkel concert back in the 60's or early 70's. It was a sellout and they decided at the last minute to put seats in the orchestra pit. We were 4 rows back. It was awesome to see a duo that could produce all the sounds on their records with just 2 people and 2 instruments.

Chrissy, Your DD is so lucky. I wish someone would come and do my cupboards.

My DD and her boyfriend went to a Dave Matthews concert this weekend. He sent me a video of the band playing and then panned around to show my DD dancing. It was so cute! I said it was almost like being there. lol

Well, the nurse from the GYN office called on Friday and told me that the results from the urine test were consistent with a compromised sample. She said to finish up the antibiotics, but they couldn't do a new test cause it would be effected by the meds. So, the symptoms haven't really changed so I guess it was not an infection. Oh well.

Getting rid of the clutter really does help to keep things organized. I think it is easier too, if it is not your own stuff.

Here are the flowers that my DD and her BF brought me today. It was very sweet. She gave me a happy Parent's day card. Since for most of her life I was both mom and dad. I have a cousin who is just amazed that I can cook on a outdoor gas grill and I'm like someone's got to do it!

My days as a military wife made me a jack of all trades.too. Navy men were gone usually from 6 months to a year at a time. So we had to be both Mom and Dad so much of the 21 years my DH served. But you do what you have to do.
