FierceBBird & 4sewwhat,
Super mom, I'm not. Made plenty of mistakes.....
The best thing for my son was he got obsessed with kayaking. I always told both kids, find something you like, stick with it and you will have that passion & joy of being accomplished at something.
I pushed tennis on my daughter, she did play High School tennis, but quit her senior year to kayak. She does triathlons, & stills plays tennis..
My DH was a good kayaker so taught DS when he was 11-12. Sports are the easiest for boys, but sadly for some sports you have to start in first grade to be able to play in High School.
I know there is no easy fix, It's so hard for kids to "fit" in, feel good about themselves. So many things out there, besides video games...my kids got hooked on chess for awhile. I tried to get DS to hike in the mts. He kept yelling at DH & I "this is stupid". Lol....DD loved it..
FBBird, I do not want to be insensitive, I realize you are not able right now to haul your DS to the Mts. To hike or ride bikes...just keep encouraging him to find his passion....whatever that may be...

I'm a little embarressed now...kind of wish I hadn't posted my "dark and twisty" side last night. I do have a drain put in, but the site where the drain is going in is causing me pain. I've talked to my nurse navigator about it and she's gonna call me back after she talks to docs.Anyway, feeling better today mentall/physically. sorry for the dump last night

We all need that once in a while Tang!!! Glad you are feeling a little better. I found if I kept my drain tube taped down tight so it couldn't wiggle it didn't hurt too bad. YOu prolly are already doing that, just thought I would throw it out there.
Golf Girl! My boys never were interested in sports but 2/3 dance and they all play instruments and sing. Of course the girl child is the adventurous one!! Two of the kids want to do everything under the sun! I keep telling them to pick a few and get good at them!! The time will come. I think the frustrating thing is when you know they are capable just being lazy!!
Off to shower so Cami isn't the only purdy smellin' one round here today!!

Tang, no worries, please do not feel bad. We all come here to be honest, and not burden our DH or kids. We will have a super, duper, partay for you when this shit is behind you.
I had unbelievable fatigue the month after PFC... ( Post fu€king chemo ) Not everyone does, but I was recliner bound. Long, slow stinkin process.

Oh my gosh, what a day and it is not even half over for me..

4 I'm sorry---I feel kind of like that too----Been so busy and hard to communicate and just a ditzy day--between my pain and pain meds I had to stay awake and I think to some customers I sounded like I was on something else---I hope I didn't screw up to badly. Oh well, it's done now.
oh my Gf's son gave me a nails certificate so we're planning on going Thursday, but I will not get a pedi too--They are so gross I can't let anyone see them, my fingernails are growing all funny too but they'e not gross just silly looking so maybe they can make them not look so witchy like--they curl in all directions, I've cut them down quite a bit cuz of that and I don't want any stuff on them now until they get better. They are lifting off the bed (well just 2) so ????? My nails used to be perfect, well at least my ears still look good-LOL They match.
It's hot here today, we have the air on, of course I'm wrapped in a blanket, but cooling off tomorrow--This is crazy would like some old fashion spring weather.

susan hope your dh feels better soon. How is the Havelan, ok, luckily no neuropathy in hands or feel, it is just like the rest of them, I am down for about 6 days after it, sick, not throwing up just tired/exhausted.....cammie, I appreciate your concern, take advair and spiriva does it help no, i will say that after chemo the breathing gets worse and tonight and tomorrow it will b ok....i wish they could figure it out, and I guess it matters but whatever...
sassie it is a a big place....I know they can't take the tumor out cause of where it is on the chest wall. just aggravated. the breathing is annoying...i am going to make toast for dinner and get my wendys frosty....oh haven't reached the fental for pain yet, working up to it.....the race for the cure was awesome, was in the wheelchair, which is depressing but it was ok....
am doing ok today, getting there but chemo again wed, then my week off.
thanks to all others for caring and hoping you had a wonder day...
luv

My mother, who at times is a very wise woman, has often said that your number one job as a parent is to keep your kids alive.
Sometimes. you can't do that, and it's not your fault, my Godson lost his 3-year-old to neuroblastoma.
But if you can do that, keeping them fed and knowing that they have a place to come home to and that they are loved; keeping them away from danger whether it's diving head first into puddles or running headlong into the street when they're little, or drunken diving off roofs into swimming pools when they are older. Then Lord love you, because you brought that baby into the world an wiped his spit and laughed when he peed on you, and you fought for him when he was bullied, and loved him when he insulted you. You love him, you love her.. let him know, let her know & then know they are their own people. Some of us are really lil'shits & then grow out of it. Some of us look like we have the entire world in our control - and then find out we don't and crash hard. Just love them. That's all you can do. Just love them and do your best to keep them alive so they can be whoever it is that they are. And, happy mother's day, because it's not how your kid IS that determines how you are as a mom.. it's your love for your child that makes you a mom and that love is so worth honoring.

Cheeeevy? match that, baby.

Ziggy u look like Dolly Parton.

Trying to decide about this cough I've had for a long time...also have nasal junk but for some reason the meds I normally take are not working.
0 -
Netti, check the se's for aromasin. I've been on arimadex for over a year, developed a really weird cough. Listed as a SE. Now on an approved one month vacation from it, cough is clearing. Also, if you are on lisinopril for BP, that can cause a cough.

Hello all my dear Owlettes - been lurking and reading.... but too tired to post.
I keep seeing this pic and it makes me laugh out loud every time. (Maybe it's because I loved DONKEY in Shrek.....)

Grandma & Grandpa
Grandma and Grandpa were visiting their kids
overnight.
When Grandpa found a bottle of Viagra in his son's
medicine cabinet, he asked about using one of the
pills.
The son said, "I don't think you should take one Dad; they're
very strong and very expensive."
"How much?" asked Grandpa.
"$10. a pill," answered the son.
"I don't care," said Grandpa, "I'd still like to
try one, and before we leave in the morning, I'll put
the money under the pillow."
Later the next morning, the son found $110 under the
pillow. He called Grandpa and said, "I told you
each pill was $10, not $110. "
"I know," said Grandpa. "The hundred is
from Grandma. "

Trying to play catch up, very little sleep last night and I'm exhausted
4444Sew and FBB, if this helps any: my step son (who lived with his dad and me full time, mom out of the picture) was 14 when I was dx'ed the first time. He was just on "that age" when life takes on a new meaning for them. He had LOTS of problems with my dx. Didn't know how to express his feelings or vent his anger/frustration/fear appropriately so started acting out big time. As others had said, try to keep the lines of communication open and try to find something that he can do and fun with in a constructive manner -- whatever that may be. If he suddenly takes up new hobbies, good thing. Maybe speak to a social worker from your hospital to see if they have support groups geared to that age group. This f'ing BC really affects them too.
Tang, hope you're feeling better and out of the "dark and twisty" mood. I was there yesterday (Mother's Day got all f'ed up, thanks to Mr Wonderful) so I tried not to depress everyone with my dark mood. Lots of crying yesterday and last night, though..... Hey, if you can't dump here safely, where can you?
Cammi, smelling pretty and pretty nails too? Wow, we'll need pictures of all that.
Susan, hope your DH is feeling better.
Ziggy, so sorry to read about your Godson and his son. Life isn't fair and just sucks sometimes.
Blessings, thanks for the cool picture!
Pawprint, thinking of you and hoping you are well. (Try to stay cool in all this heat this week)

I just wanted to pop in and say hi and send love to everyone that needs it. Had a super busy weekend, been sitting under a storm cloud (both literal and figurative) today, so will read over the last several pages tomorrow. Going to try to let the rain lull me to sleep.
<<hugs>>

Jwow there are no clouds today--have some good rest, and some chicken soup and whatever the weather Geez I hope everyone feels decent today==I know it's not easy, but we still try.
Well one thing is I took a shower--now today I used Philosophy --name is grace--just smell like really clean and fresh, no flowers just nice. Whoa I smell good--I took it early this morning so I would smell good for Joey--he's sick again and he always notices my fragrance Of course now I'm ready to go back to sleep but at least it's relaxing.
I had a bumpy nite of sleep last night I was so tired fell asleep about 10PM very relaxing my phone rings at 10:30 and then I was awake til like 2am woke up at 4 so that means I'm goofy all day--tho noone will notice but me.

Oh wow! Lilshit, I was reading about all our Mom's and some of the problems they are having, and feeling so bad for them...
Then I read your post, and that just did it! I sat here with big tears in my eyes, because you are the sweetest, most caring Lilshit I have ever known... And you get it.
My Brother went through soooooo much with his Son.... Such a long story... He just KNEW there was going to be a parking spot with his name on it, and the city jail, because of all his visits... blah, blah. Grown Son now... Fathered maybe 3 kids, homeless, lived on the streets, got State Help, only lives for smoking and drinking with that money he gets...
Brother finally said "We can't do it anymore"... Just let go and let God. He lives with anyone who will take him in...
Then my Brother's oldest Daughter, lost her 12 year battle with breast cancer... Even SHE had been trying not only to raise her Son, but help her Brother...
She passed away, leaving a 14 year old boy, and his Dad was in rehab. Then "Jake" went nuts... tore their house completely apart! My Brother then tried to help out his GrandSon.... Took him to live with him, in an efficiency one room apartment.... Bad times ahead.....
But eventually this kid turned it around! Went to Church, and Kenny taught him drumming... Found him a job, bought him a bike, which he wrecked.... But finally he started "listening"!
I was so afraid to talk to Kenny because I thought, "OH no, what now?" But they got it together! He is sooooo proud of his Great Grand-son! And Jake is doing wonderful! Works for UPS, has his own car, a girlfriend, and is living with his Buddy. The girl-friend's family has a big part in his life also.... AND his Dad, who has been living in a sober living place, is trying to find a place, so he and his Son, can live together!
So sometimes they have to hit rock-bottom.... and hopefully they don't take you down with them.
I think it really helps to be able to talk about these problems.... hoping that maybe, somehow it will help. And then Lilshit comes along, and makes me cry.... Is it any wonder why I love you guys?
Okay, okay, you little brat! I'LL show you! Just have to go upstairs, find that album, and post some pics, and you will laugh your head off!
Nettie... Have you tried those nasal rinses, and maybe Allegra? Those help me, where sometimes the Claritin won't.
4444444444444! That was so funny! What I can't understand is.... Why are they worried about that "lasting longer than that 4 hour thing?" I don't see a PROBlem there... ! Or is it just me? Man, I remember when...... When we were younger and...... Okay... I had better not.
Sorry 2222222nd time... Guess us gals just know how to listen... We can listen and not judge... Either that or we can go track them no-gooders down and beat the livin $hit out of them....
JWow! PLEASE tell me what your avatar is! I just don't see it right!
Oh for God's sakes....! Is that the top of your head, or someone's???
With a Tattoo?
Which reminds me.... I just colored my hair again yesterday.... No more white... Ha, ha! Now I'm back to some sort of semblance of an original color I've had many times before! It's a crap-shoot! I bought this Clairol on sale...! Good thing it wasn't RED, or Purple!
Ah Geez.... Cammi and her showers! And so how come now I have to feel "decent?" YOU said it.... like THAT'S gonna happen!
Oh damn! Joey is sick? Make him some milk-toast, and tell him I said it would make him feel better! Toast some bread, and put a little hot milk over it, with lots of butter! Or make him Macaroni and cheese! Give him whiskey.... that always worked.... Honest to God, my Grandma would make me drink that when I had a cold! Lord knows there was plenty of it around! They were trying to kill us!
So, No.... I won't notice if you tend to be goofy... That's okay.... We just don't want anyone to be sad or sick....
Love you guys!

ziggy, thanks for the words of wisdom. When did you get so wise anyway?
Does anyone have Medicaid? Do all doctors / hospitals take Medicaid? My test results were not so good and I'm probably headed back into treatment. The university where I work has held my job for a year, but if I start into chemo again and or surgery I'll probably end up on social security/disability/Medicaid.
I have very good insurance now, but not sure if I Medicaid will pay for all treatment or surgery.
Wings are tired, feet are sore, and having trouble finding a safe place to land. Winds just keep blowing me over every time I try to rest.

I have medicare and medicaid, they do take it...

Hugs to all that are in need and hurting for various reasons!
Once again, not such a good day for me, however, finally have an appt with my chiro this afternoon, hoping to feel better tomorrow!! Then I have the massage appt on Thursday, so hopefully between the two, by the weekend I'll be feeling better!
Sorry I don't have time to comment on everything!

FierceBlue, so sorry your test results were not better. Cancer really is a monster.. We are always here for you...
Good morning Blondie/Sandy, hope you are feeling ok ? I know you are getting something scary.
Teka, what was the coffee cup made of yesterday? That was edible ? Looked tasty.
Ziglilshitproseposter....your words are beautiful & so true. Sincere sympathy for the loss of your Godson sweet boy.
Chevy, I think most families have the sad soul that can't find there way, addiction issues, it is all a heart breaking train wreck.
2nd, hoping for a brighter week for you.
Sas, still spinning or feet on the ground?
So many wonderful Owlettes, waving hello to all.
I am off to see MO. 3 month blood work & talk about Arimidex. Keeping my fingers crossed for decent WBC. Last time they were checked they were very low.
BBL...

Oh So man sad stores with so many families. There's so much that we can't control all we can do is pray and pray things turn around and when they do it a joyfull feeling. It's truly heartbreaking .
I'm sorry I've been so busy with this job, I never thought I'd actually have to work with it, but it's busy now and I am working. I can't nap when I want to. Or just come on when I want so this is serious business here.
FBB I say extra prayers for u and Medicar/caid takes everything, well it's supposed to.
