The Mallards must have cold feet. There must have been a few hundred of them in this pondimage

  • wow Teka. 20 inches! That's a lot of snow. Glad your electricity came back in but it sound like you were prepared with the generator.

2nd - be careful driving please

  • Teka, love love love the pics!!  But I'm so glad I don't have to deal with the snow!

Warning, this is a rant, so you can feel free to just move forward without reading!

Since November, I've seen my MO and my PCP!  I'm so disgusted with what seems to me to be lack of care!  I hate that you have to act like a hypochondriac in order to get things done!  I just feel like someone should be monitoring things more closely!  I shouldn't have to be my own doctor!!  I got so aggravated in the PCP office that I was ready to just throw out all my meds and see what happened and actually see if any test would change!  I know, I'm probably NOT making sense, but I just feel like at some point since the end of my treatment, that I should have had a lung x-ray and some sort of test for my heart since the Adriamycin can be damaging!   I also, to this day, still have not had any testing other than routine blood work!  And why in the world won't they check my vitamin levels, I mean, they have me on b12, d3, calcium and a multi, but how do I know if the levels are right??  And yes, I did ask and was denied!  Just told to keep taking them!  I also posted on the Tamoxifen thread that it was causing my blood pressure to go sky high 156/104 and when I called MO to ask about it I was told "if YOU think that is what is causing it, just stop taking it"!!  Like he was pissed that I suggested that!  However, since I've stopped, blood pressure is slowly coming back to normal!  Go figure!  Anyway, I've taken a doctor break!  Won't be seeing anyone until May unless something happens that I just can't deal with!!

End of rant!  And I do apologize!

Gosh I wondered what Blondie's 281 was. I thought it was code too. I have a thimble sized memory. I paid 2.35 earlier this week for gas.

Chevy - we've had the emissions test in Ft. Worth for years. Just now moving west into my county. We have been a little too rural to make it worthwhile but no more. We done growed up. Oh maybe your old car was pre-emission testing eqiupment. I haul 100-150# of goat chow in my car often. Beer only a case at a time - too cheap to buy more. DH has limit of one a day - limited by my finances HaHa.

Oh Sassy cleanup is almost done. I have one big load of towels to bleach yet. May be TMI but it was only bath water that came up not the really yucky stuff so not so bad. Got dog blanket washed yesterday so Someone (??) can give her a bath tomorrow. She has 2 giant sized beds with zip covers. Amazingly the inside pillow is about a king size pillow size. I have it bagged in black garbage bag so only have to wash the outside covers. If we ever get sun again I could fence dry them. Instead it and bathmats are draped over assorted things in garage - dolly, riding mower seat. I wouldn't mind if it really rained but this gloom is not pleasant.

Teka - generator looks like a necessity. Is it early for that much snow?

Nettie - grandbaby time has to be the best cure. Says one who doubts DD will ever get there. I did get some time with friends DGD this weekend.

Spookie - didn't know ducks got cold well maybe in Canada but not is S. FL.

Sassy - Not sure if you've seen any of these.

There are some museums who might have textile info. Wish I could remember who had one I wanted to see, somewhere east coast. But logically you would think West Coast for Chinese culture.

I saw a pale green VW bug with the license plate APHID. I don't think we have ever named a car. My car name would have to be Grandma related since the seller was one and so am I. It's a pale gray-green called Tundra.

Ah geez Nettie.... you sound just like me.... When I lost my hearing while on Tamoxifen, I was ready to just give up ALL the Doc's. No-one would listen, or if they did, had no suggestions... just wanted me to switch to Femara... I mean I researched, sent them 5 pages of web-sites, talking about hearing loss, and didn't do a bit of good. I just quit trying to get them on MY side, and went out and bought hearing aids. Done.

I stopped the pills... quit taking my vitamins, because I didn't feel any different. Now I only go get an annual physical... the thing is, when you go or see a Doc, there are so many people involved.... and you are just in a computer.... they listen, but they don't treat you like "family"....

Just don't worry about it.... If you feel good, take that as good news! I don't even HAVE an MO.... just go get my Mammograms every year.

I don't think I have ever had my vitamin levels checked.... and I'm not a Vegan, nor do I go to some exercise club, so I'm just winging it here.... I'm happy when I feel good.... Except for now with the Asthma.... but I do what I can, take the meds, and go drink a chocolate coke.

I'll tell you, you can worry yourself sick, trying to get them to tell you, that you are okay! YOU are the only one that knows how you feel. I don't take anything unless I have to.... See, everything you take has an effect on something else.... So just think about it.

Go enjoy those Grand-babies.... they will help you more than any vitamins.... Just eat relatively healthy... YOU know how to do it.... and don't worry about nothin'.

Nettie - I read different things of follow up and some things I just don't get either. But then I did not get the chemo you got. I do blame insurance for bunches of it. I would like my calcium checked again and B12 but not gonna happen I know. I'm about to take a 2-3 week Femara break totally undiscussed with my MO who I see only once/year now. Don't have any answers for you. I even read somewhere anyone getting L sided rads should have an echocardiogram. HAHA not happening with me I can guarantee you. I also see lots of people who seem to have a lesser DX that I have, same tx and same timeline in tx and they are still on every 3 month checks. My insurance has never balked at anything charged to them, paid their appropriate part. I think if I was still on q 3 month checks that nurse manager would be after me seriously. My rant.

Have your brought them what are considered credible sources for followup with your BC stats in mind? Won't make them listen but will show them you DO know what you are asking them for.

Wren - I think Tundra for a gray/green car is very appropriate even if you didn't name it. Don't think I've ever named one. I think DH has some name for his old beatup Chevy truck. ?Goat Hauler maybe even though don't really haul goats anymore.

Oh Spookie I know.... When my clutch was going out, I was just perturbed at the car, clutch, DH, and EVERYthing! I called it a few choice names!

    1. image
    2. Is THIS your car? This looks like a hatch-back.... take a picture of your car.... WE'LL name it! Loopy

  • Teka, I think it's just the opposite, I NEVER complain, so when I do, it's not often!  So I don't fit the "squeaky wheel"!!  LOL

  • I went through all of treatment without complaining about one thing!  I just didn't!  And since I've been done, I haven't complained much accept about my back and then it was only at appointments, in other words, I never made calls or complained outside of my scheduled appointments!  I'm just disgusted that I'm told that things should be  monitored, but no one bothers to do it!

Nettie your docs are idiots , but you know that already. Put a letter together that states that you expect at least 1. treatment that meets minimum standard of care.2. expect that your concerns to be address and not minimized, ignored, belittled etc 3. That you expect the Patient Bill of Rights be followed 4. breach of these rights and requests will be reported to the locale Medical Board and whomever you are accredited by. 5. last paragraph I have repeatedly asked the following questions (insert list). I have not received an answer too ( insert list). The following tests have not been done(insert list). New paragraph. If the above omissions in my care result in a recurrence of my cancer or other disease that could have been prevented by diligent care as defined in minimum standards of care, you will be held responsible for lack of due diligence.

If you do a letter, please, get the advice of others. It works when I do it. I just don't want something to backfire on you and cause you more grief.

Seriously tired of docs not doing their jobs. Reporting to agencies , insurances, governments usually gets a response.

You will find who accredits them by the plaques on the wall or ask the secretary. Also, ask them for the address. If they won't give it to you --google will get it.

    BBL with BIll of Rights.

    http://www.cancer.org/treatment/findingandpayingfortreatment/understandingfinancialandlegalmatters/patients-bill-of-rights

If your not seeing anyone till May, plenty of time to get the letter put together and sent out.

In regard to hypochondria-----that's why the letter works. You've laid out in writing what they aren't dealing with, send a copy to your insurance company.

Littlegoats-----so happy it wasn't poop. You must have a white/grey water septic too. That's strange it would back up and not the black water. Anyways YAY. can't stand poop.
Thanks for all the links. I saw one of the three.( see post to Jwoo)

Jwoo I'm bleary eyed. Took the garment out again and gave it another look. Not handling it much now since it might be old. Also, put it in a better place. Stitching everywhere  is highest level. There is a quilting like stitch around the mandarin collar, yoke, cuff, and pockets. The color is a blue green. The embroidery all over is exquisite. It isn't as flashy as the pic I posted.  Their is a dart that goes from the shoulder to mid chest. There are no side darts.
I suppose a real clue as to age LOL is the little white size indicator at the collar. M.

The seller said it was from the estate of a career service woman. Of the two(7) he had left, one was very much bigger. It was well worn. Maybe she had this made and just never wore it as much. The other was several sizes larger, and a short  jacket/lounger type.

I am guessing I could give it to Ds-GF and let her find out the worth. She can then feel comfortable wearing it or pay off her school loans. Maybe even buy a new house?

What bugs me is in all the scrolling of men's and women's clothing, not once did I see a garment that opened all the way down the front in a long dress.

  • Oh, Owlettes - either I've been MIA, or y'all have been a CHATTY bunch since I last checked! Shocked

All the news here is about the BIG STORM ready to hit tonight. I mean, come ON.... this ain't Buffalo.... we get all these newscasts of the Public Works directors in their polo shirts and Dockers (It's 70 degrees) telling us how all the City trucks are ready for emergencies, and how PGE (electric company) is ready for blown transformers and downed trees. The big wind (50 mph) hits tonight, and the rain follows. It won't even make a dent in our drought, but should fill up the nightly local news for days. Blah de blah de blah.....

LOVE all the pics y'all have been posting....

My TBI seems to be getting worse. I'm now scheduled with the Pulmonologist next week, and he has already ordered supplemental oxygen for me. My O2 sats run around 85% at night, and 88-90% when I wake up.... NOT good for a healing brain.

The APAP machine made me very, very sick. Luckily I did the research, threw out all the anecdotal stories, and took in some solid NIH reports to my ENT/Vestibular Specialist, who agreed with everything I told him. I may be one of his guinea pigs with some of his colleagues in the Northwest.

Memory issues are shot. I can't remember the last time I took all my drugs, even though I have one of those GIANT pill containers that Grandma keeps on her bathroom counter. I just keep forgetting to fill it up.

DH is happily decorating the house for Christmas. I'm happy he's so happy. Maybe I'll post some pics when he's done.

    Sending huge hugs to everyone...

Sassy - It was blocked just as pipe exits below the foundation so only what I had put recently in outlet which was a teeny bit of toilet water and then the shower water. All below that on way to septic was fine and dandy. I do not want a septic backup. And I understand sometimes they can come on dramatically with little warning.

Maybe the garment was just too long and the well worn short jacket just fit better. I wish I knew someone in costuming. DD did have a college roomie that was a theater major but she not in contact with her anymore. Maybe contact a college department?

Blessings - we can get 40 mph wind easily on a "nice" day. At least the newscasters keep busy. (((HUGS))) I think the bunch has gotten chattier lately.

Sassy- DO NOT REPORT ANYTHING TO THE MEDICAL BOARD. It will haunt you for the rest of your life and if you think your doctors don't do anything now you can be guaranteed it will be zero after you file a complaint. Been there and learned the hard way. Seriously do not file anything. Nothing will come of it anyway. You will be so sorry. Don't tell folks to do that.

So sounds like you tried it Rosie? I know... Sometimes we get so sick of all the "stuff" we have to go through... But we just gotta work around all their crap... and figure out another way... We KNOW they aren't always on the same page as we are... but it seems like sooner or later, we can figure it out on our own, and come out of it even better.

I tried reporting the whole hassle about losing my hearing... It didn't do any good! Even sent the drug company some of my pills! BUT it wasn't maybe the same brand, or mix that I had been TAKING at the time! And they couldn't do anything... So I had to live with it... and got hearing aids. I was told to file a class-action law-suit... That would have been the worst thing that I could have done... And I really couldn't blame ANYbody! Not the Oncologist, not my PC, and maybe not the drug-company, because they WARN of possible stroke... So I just stopped taking the pills.

Sometimes Nettie, you just have to step back, and re-conoiter... (I think that's a word)... Try working on one thing at a time with your Doc's...they will be more willing to listen if you aren't all up in arms, with a list of things....

Okay Spookie! You have a "Spark".... I really like my Cruz so far... It will last me forEVER! xoxoxo

    Good morning Owls...
It's raining here today, and windy. But nothing like the weather many of you are having.
I have been getting doctor appointments scheduled by the end of the year since all deductibles are paid up and I'll have more to deduct for medical on my taxes.

I have a question. When you were diagnosed with BC, and a team of doctors was put together for your care, such as oncologists, radiologists, your primary doctor, breast surgeon, maybe plastic surgeon. Did you ever get offered, or referred to a mental health professional so you can work through and process your feelings and fears related to your diagnosis?
  • spookiesmom
    spookiesmom Posts: 8,178

No, but my hospital is part of a large system here. They had brochures EVERY where about services offered for ca PTs. There were All sorts of things available. The docs themselves never said a word

  • paw print - no mental health support offered by my mo. Only prescription drugs. Booo
