I know, I am so glad that my Dr  didn't let this go.

When you say that your cancer is lympovascular, do you means that it didn't show up on ultrasound or Mammogram?  Mine just shows up as diffused throughout entire breast but they measured it and it was 10cm, I think that's just the area of cancer.

I'm so glad your tumor in your node is shrinking, that is awesome.   My surgeon told me sometimes with these agressive cancers they respond to chemo extremely well and sometimes dissapear altogether.   Let's have our fingers crossed xoxoxo

Lymphovascular means that it grows like a web. It is diffuse. I was told that it could not me measured because it is not a mass. I was also told that since it is very aggresive, it responds to chemo better than many other cancers. Keep us posted!!! XOXOXO Back!

I also am a recently diagnosed member of the Micro Papillary Breast Cancer Club.  My mammo showed scattered calcification clusters ~ 1.7 cm x 0.6 cm area and this  was diagnosed as DCIS.  I also had  enlarged lymph nodes in my right axilla and a left cervical node which upon Bx have been diagnosed as Micro Papillary Breast Carcinoma, triple negative. There is no evidence of invasive carcinoma in my breasts.  I am Stage IV - I have multiple tumors in my rt axillary, rt. subclavian, lt. & rt. internal mammary, lt. cervical and supermediastinum lymph nodes. Fortunately there is no organ or bone involvement.

I have completed 3 (21 day) cycles of Taxol and my recent scan showed significant tumor shrinkage!!!!  I resume another set of Taxol cycles tomorrow.

It is nice to know that I am not the only one out there battling this unusual  lymph loving Breast Cancer.  Perhaps sharing my encouraging report that so far chemo is successfully kicking this Invasive Beast will help someone else out there??

I pray that you all have encouraging news.

I completed 3 of 12 taxol/herceptin and ended up in the hospital for 4 days with a high fever and generalized pain. I came home yesterday and am going for labs tomorrow. I hope this doesn't delay chemo. I can't wait to be done!!! My white count tanked to 1. Anxious to see what they are tomorrow.

I am sorry to hear that your white count tanked and that you ended up in the hospital.  I hope that you are feeling better and that your counts are such that you can get back to the  battle.  I have included you in my prayers.

How often are your Taxol/herceptin treatments??  You mentioned that you initially were on FEC chemo, what is that?  How was that?

I was never on FEC. I was treated at FCCC (Fox Chase Cancer Center), and then switch to a local, small, hospital. I just had # 4 of 12, and it's kicking my butt. Initially I had 4 DD Adriamycin/Cytoxan. That was hard on me as well.

I had my first chemotherapy 2 weeks ago, I'm having FEC - T, 3 rounds of FEC and 3 rounds of T.

I ended up in the ER the other night with a fever and my count was down to .5 so they had me on an IV drip.  Other than that the chemo wasn't too bad apart from some chemo brain and fatigue.

Is anyone else doing FEC - T?

I have been doing lots of reading on this cancer type. It might be that lots more women have it, but it's not routinely checked for...it did not come up on my first path...only when we were questioning the diagnosis did the delve a little further.

In a nutshell, our prognosis is no worse than other women of our same stage and grade. It's just that it tends to be such an aggressive cancer, that we are usually caught a little further along stage wise. But I am in no worse shape that anyone else stage 3... Not that stage 3 isn't scary enough on it's own!!! BUT, micro papillary stage 3 does not make it worse...if that makes sense?!

Also...this type seems to be much more highly responsive to chemo than standard er +.

I cannot cut and paste well on my iPad...but I found all this in pubmed. Most of these are foreign studies. Not sure why the US doesn't look into it much.

Great News, Bella!!!  Keep up the shrinking!!!

I went for labs today because I was neutropenic before chemo, but didn't meet the protocol for neupogen last week, so I get to have neupogen for the next 2 days. I already feel the bone pain.Ugh!

Start claritin for the bone pain...stay on it for a day or so afterwards. Also, warm the shot. Don't let the nurse inject you with cold medicine. Hold it in your hands a few minutes...helps huge!!

    Bella - keep shrinking Sealed

I finished chemo and am waiting for some of my old energy to return.  Tamoxifen starts in a week.  I'll be on tami for 3 years and then hopefully on to femera after I reach the menopause (I'm 50).  Onwards and upwards.  Soon we'll all be celebrating!

    How's everybody doing???

I just finished my 4th and last FEC 3 days ago and will now be doing 4 rounds of taxatore, my tumor has shrunk to almost nothing so far and my Onc is really pleased with how it is going. I'm seeing my surgeon on Monday to see what she says.

I've still got some hair amazingly even though I shaved it to a number 4 a couple of weeks ago, I wish I didn't shave it now.

Hi  Bella, congrats on finishing FEC.  I hope you do well during the Taxotere.  Hang in there!

I finished Taxotere last month and suffered some annoying side effects but I'm told they will disappear so I'm trying to stay positive about it.

I've had some setbacks.  My donor site for my reconstruction (my thigh)  needs revision surgery as it keeps filling up with fluid and the last time they drained it some damage occured.  Also, because of highish fevers I've had over a week, I had an x-ray and it showed a shadow so now I need a CT scan.  I'm staying positive though because yesterday the discomfort in my chest turned into a chest cold.  Still have fever though and night sweats.

Bella, I didn't lose all my hair either but I shaved it anyway because so much of it fell out I think I would have looked strange.  It's taking its time growing back.  Eyelashes and eyebrows are also taking their time.

Hey Ladies. Congrats, Bella. I did loose a lot of hair on the taxanes, so don't feel like you did it for nothing. It left me with only a little bit of hair on the top of my head. I have no eyelashes, and little eye brows. My arms are hairless as well.

Ladies I was told by my MO that because our type of cancer grows so quickly, and chemo attacks fast growing cells, it works really well at shrinking it. I pray it worked well enough that it takes it away for good!

Surgery in a week for me. :(

Great news!  My CT scan was clear - my lungs are normal.

And, no more surgery for now.  My PS says it's too high risk and could make things worse rather than better.  So, I'm being sent to a pain management specialist in London.

Southampton Mom, how did you do with surgery?  Hope you are recovering quickly.

Ladies! I nearly died after surgery. I got back to my room and sometime that eveniing, I vomited and my chest started expanding. The mammary artery broke open and I bled into my chest, arm, trunk, neck, and face. By the time I got back into surgery, I lost almost 3 liters of blood. They put so much IV fluid into me while waiting for a blood transfusion that I ended up looking like the Michelin Man! I spent 3 days in ICU then 2 days in a regular room. I'm feeling better each day, and happy to be alive. I think.... I hope I don't have anymore torture!

Dear Lord Southhamptonmom! I am so so sorry to hear of your experience. Congratulations on coming through it ok. That is scary. Surgery is always a risk...even the simple "routine" stuff.

Happy to have you on the mend!

Oh my God Rose!  Thank Goodness your okay, how scary that must have been for you.   Did you get any pathology results back yet?

I did. 17/17 nodes clear. DCIS in the right breast. Weird. I must have had a ton of cancer throughout that breast. I had 2 different IDC types on biopsy before chemo. I will get a copy on Tuesday. I can't wait to have these stupid drains out. They are getting on my nerves.

Both my kids came home today with straight A's on their report card. Happy mommy.
