Microfat grafting or BRAVA doctor recommendations

What is the most irritating part about the BRAVA? Is it the vacuum pressure, the silicone or the ridges?
I will mention that I recently changed lotions I use during the day to Kiss My Face Aloe and Olive Oil unscented. It has helped A LOT!0 -
used brava again friday-4 hours, saturday 6 hours, sunday 8 hours. irritation is from the silicone border--probably from the wipes..
I purchased the Aloe Life Skin Gel. Should I use the wipes on top of this? ( I used a small amount of adhesion). Perhaps Aloe Life Skin Gel has a diferent formulation which does not require use of the wipes at all. Let me know. Eileen

I did not use the wipes when I use the skin gel. The gel does take a little longer to dry. Hope that helps!

Lizdehart--perhaps did not dry long enough. Will try again--but, I certainly have made a lot of progress--due to your suggestions.

Contact jseda. I believe she is doing BRAVA at U of W. Also member cascader had a consult, may be doing grafting?0 -
Eileen,if you cannot tolerate the Brava, they have had great success doing fat grafting without using the Brava. What I have read says the Brava enables them to graft more fat each time,so it takes fewer procedures and a shorter length of time to get results. This was a European study where they have done fat grafting for many years without the Brava.I saw Dr.Kishinevsky in CT,she does fat grafting using tissue expanders instead of the Brava.I was unable to have it done because the TEs caused me so much pain I had to have them removed.Just some thoughts as it sounds like the Brava may be too irritating for you to continue.Take care.

Hi All,
I came across this doctor today when searching for a MD who does recon with Microfat grafting in Chicago (which I do frequently). It looks like he is at the cancer treatment facility in Zion. I haven't been to see him but this is the closest to Chicago I've seen. Anyone else familiar with Dr. Stephen Ray?

No, not familiar with Dr Stephen Ray. Last I had heard there was no one trained in the midwest. Great news!

pandazankar--thanks for the input. Yes--I am hoping to going to smaller implants with additional fatgrafting. Still want to use Brava as much as possible--perhaps it will be of some help.
My first round of fatgrafting took quite well without brava. Hoping for the same next time. Eileen

Dr. Stephen Ray at CTCA at Midwestern Regional Medical Center and Dr. Arch Miller at CTCA at Southwestern Regional Medical Center are now performing total breast reconstruction using autologous fat grafting.

I read such great words about Dr. Trott at the beginning of this forum, but I am trying to read about the results AFTER surgery. I have surgery planned with Dr. Trott and I am hoping for some reassuring words.0 -
At the fatgraftpatients.com website you should be able to discuss your questions with patient of Dr. Trott. There is a special section relating to his cases. My fatgrafting has been going quite well. Hoping the same for you. Eileen0 -
Eileen, Dr. Trott is a woman (not a man), so you may be referring to a different doctor. I signed onto the fatgraftpatients.com website you mention (last night); it says I am activated, but still won't let me sign up for any forums. A system can still be secure and user-friendly, so far, fatgraftpatients is not.
So, back to this forum. Still hoping to hear from any patients of Dr. Trott in Beverly Hills. Her name is mentioned over and over, but I can't find anyone who has actually had reconstruction done by her.0 -
I finally got into the fatgraft website. Unfortunately, it is really geared towards patients who've seen one particular doctor; there are stories supporting about ten other doctors, but that's it. Still, I will see if there is some useful info. I really wanted info on doctors from LA (I could not find any info)0 -
Summergirl - maybe you aren't finding stories on Dr. Trott b/c she hasn't done a ton of these types of recons? There are only a handful of docs doing fat grafting with Brava for complete reconstruction of a breast.0 -
I chose Dr. Trott because of all the conversation about her on this breastcancer.org website; I read comment after comment and so many people went for consultations for this procedure with Dr. Trott. So, I asked for feedback and someone referred me to the other website fatgraft website, but the majority of that website is dedicated to one doctor with some info on a dozen. From reading through BCO website, I've seen many other doctor's names who perform this procedure, but they aren't on that other website. So, Still looking.0 -
SummerGirl-I don't think Dr. Trott has done many of this specific type of fatgrafting. There is a doctor in Santa Monica-I think his name is Aronowitz who has been doing this with another Dr. from Japan. I think they were the actual pioneers of this method. This is the same Dr. that Suzanne Somer's went to.

Firstly just realised that these posts are from last year and secondly do not understand what GointoCarol means in her post in June - probably 'cos I'm British ;-)

Hello,
I am new to this forum and I've been looking into fat graving along with the BRAVA device as it is my only remaining hope for reconstruction. I had Stage III BC at 33 years old on my right side. After chemo, I had a bilateral mastectomy and a tissue expander placed on my left, non cancer side. It was eventually replaced by a silicone implant and after radiation on my right side, I had an abdominal tramp flap, plus a revision to add a silicone implant on my right side for symmetry. Long story short, after years off swelling, seromas, inflammation surrounding my implants, and enlarged lymph nodes, the implants had to be removed leaving me with a very small breast mound from my tram on my right side and nothing at all but a sunken in and concave hole on my left side. There are no other flap surgeries I can have and just recently found out about using the BRAVA + fat transfer as being my only hope for reconstruction my left side. It sounds so wonderful and much less invasive that everything I've been through but want to get more opinions. I live in Orange County, California, and have severe fibromyalgia. I cannot travel to The Miami Breast Center every 3 months for surgery. I am only 46 years old and want to look like I have two breasts.
Does anyone know of any "in network" plastic surgeon (meaning they regularly practice and bill for breast reconstruction) who currently use the BRAVA + AFT in the Orange County area or even in the LA County area? Please help if you can.
Also, I would LOVE to talk to someone who's been through the BRAVA plus AFT and I could REALLY use a mentor and friend. I'd be happy to call you if you'd be willing to speak me. My direct email address is christielopez@cox.net.
Any help or direction is very much appreciated.
Blessings to everyone.

Hi,
Do you know how to find a list of doctors that are doing fat grafting with BRAVA for COMPLETE reconstruction of the breast?
Thanks a lot!

I'm a seasoned Brava microfatgrafting veteran, doing reconstruction completely by fat grafting. I had Dr. Khouri for first two surgeries and Dr. Ahn for the last two. I still have one or two more to go. Probably just one b/c I'm nearly out of fat! Radiation requires multiple surgeries, unfortunately.
Regarding a mentor, you will find incredible support on www.fatgraftpatients.com. Several of us are over there posting our entire stories as we go along and supporting each other. It is extremely helpful to have several people helping you, not just one! So I would encourage you to come join us.
I'm not aware of any brava fat grafting surgeons in the Orange County area, but perhaps someone on the board over there will. We have a listing of surgeons, but not sure if it has been updated in a while:

One girl is having her reconstruction with Dr. Laren Greenberg but that is up in Palo Alto.

CLOGLO,
Just did a quick search. Here's one in Newport Beach that you might want to check out...

Actually, if you read the whole article near the end this doctor essentially says he isn't a big proponent of fat grafting. Sounds like he just does standard TE to implant stuff.
Want another alternative to fat grafting?
At Dr. Seify's practice, although there are merits to the fat grafting technique, he uses his own technique that does not require any additional invasive procedures such as obtaining fat from other body parts. His tissue expander and implant technique is a great option for those who do not have enough fat on other body parts.

Sorry, I missed that part. I was just trying to help since I'm from the same area.
I forgot to post this one from Beverly Hills. There's one mention of using the Brava, not sure how often she uses it. Her work looks pretty good. http://www.drcassileth.com/before-afters/breast/

Good spot JenLee! I'm always on the lookout for new docs using Brava. There are so few in the country doing this. Exciting to see another one using it!
