Oh Survivor and SpecialK I needed that laugh!  I never got a wig, wear scarves.  So I do get a lot of not asked for advice.  I like the special agent/green alien glow line.  My friends want to buy me the tee-shirt that says "yes they are fake, my real ones tried to kill me".  The neighbor is not a close friend, in fact just the opposite (have had a run in with him about subdivison rules).  That is what made it very weird, especially after asking me to step outside.  Again, sure he meant well but when he told me to test my PH by peeing on a stick I about lost it!  Has anyone everr hear of this theory?  And he did have a story, his brother, lung cancer, died.

No, of course not.  The dryer is not under any kind of warranty.  It is our 3rd in 17 yrs.  We bought epensive this time (LG/great reviews).  Called LG already, no magic button to push.  To top it off we left the poor cat in the garage all night (must have followed us in there one of the timees we were hoping the dryer would start by throwing the breaker).  Boy is he pissed.  LG gave me a # to call for repair.

Love this thread! You guys are wonderful.

Chick: Can't believe your stalking neighbor...that is creepy. I know people mean well, but really. Re: flying, I flew in July with my TEs and walked right through the airport security things both flights with no problems.

Jbennett: that is horrible that your mother died the week after your BMX. I can't imagine how hard that must have been, going to her funeral at that stage of your own recovery. I am so sorry.

Survivor: thinking and hoping for you that your doc visit goes well tomorrow. I well know this worrying and waiting - all of us with TE Trouble have experienced it at one time or another. Now that I've actually been through the "worst case" (losing the TE) I can honestly say even when you think you can't go through it, you do, and you get to the other side, and things get better. I hear you about people telling their stories about someone they know who has C. Unbelievably, my own sister dropped by to see me after my TE removal surgery and as she was leaving started telling me about a neighbor who just died from cancer. As I closed the door I was like, really? Was that supposed to cheer me up? I think the theme is "it could be worse" but I don't really need to hear that right now.

On tamox - I have been taking Arimidex (a generic form, I'm post menopausal) for 1 year now. The first 2 months I had pretty severe muscle/bone aches in my feet, legs, hips. I started taking d3 and walking and it got much much better. The past month I quit walking and lo and behold the muscle/bone aches came back. This week I am back on my walking so we'll see if it helps. It's worse at night. I also have lots of hot flashes but after a few months you adjust to those. I've had them for years going through menopause naturally....Power Surges!!

re: appliances = it cost so much to fix them it's usually cheaper just to go new. They are not making them like they used to and I don't think it matters how high end you go. My sister just had a bosch dishwasher go out after 2 years. when we bought our house we put all new appliances in and most were replaced by 6-7 years!

Jane-That is what scares the crap out of me with the appliances.  We built 8 years ago.  Just waiting for something to break.  The dryer thing is just really irking me this morning.

Let me get this straight, He wanted to sell you the filiter systerm this suppost to change your urine PH from the brother that died? This man would obviously never make it in advertisment. It may just be me, but it sounds like the whole uriine PH changing thing didn't work out so well.

He did clarify that the brother started the PH water too late.  My husband said he is just being nice, which he probably was, but my husband was not the one standing on the porch in the cold being told to pee on a stick and drink water with backing soda (something I could do if I wan't interested in the water filter).  Oh I forgot the best part, he called me Dedra.  My name is Dia.  HE DIDN"T EVEN BOTHER TO GET MY NAME RIGHT.  Not good at advertisement or sales.

OMG! Well now we know the cure for cancer! It's peeing on a stick and buying a new water filter system! We have to alert the press! OY!!! ;-) Chickadee your neighbor is lucky you didn't knock him off the porch.

I didn't have chemo so have not had to deal with the remarks that come with losing your hair (I'm sorry you guys have to deal with that). I have had people tell me stories about relatives who got cancer and died. This seems to be a universal knee-jerk response to hearing someone has cancer. I'm no therapist, but what's up with that?

I haven't used this line yet, but I am prepared to: "What a comforting story. Thank you for sharing!" That should sut them up. (I plan to say it in a very sincere way, not with sarcasm, so they will be even more confused as I walk away). I'll let you know if it works!

Tamox: Took 2 weeks before I noticed SEs: Hot flashes, dry skin, insomnia, moodiness, increased thirst and urination. Only the flashes were there the whole time. The other SEs appeared, stayed a couple of weeks, then went away.

Good luck with your fills!  Sounds like a lot of saline is happening this week!

I havn't really thought about my sides not matching exactly when I'm done, but SpecialK brings up a good point. I should not expect exact symmetry since lefty has been filled to 350ccs since FEB and has lots of pstosis. BTW are any of you ladies on the pic forum? I'm there if you want to see lefty (and what's left of righty).

By the way lefty is behaving much better today. Less redness and just a little fluid accumulation-yeah.

Yay Survivor!  Sounds like you are on the mend!  It should get better everyday, just takes time.  And patience, which I think is what the big guy in the sky is trying to teach me.  Smile

Momof3- Don't you just hate the whole patience thing. I too was not so patient before this journey began, but man or man has he stuck that lesson to me. Hopefully since this has been one of those "hard" lessons to learn, we will. Keep wanting to say, okay okay God, I get it.

Hi all! I went to the PS today. He is pretty sure that the left TE is leaking.  He put 120cc in today and wants me to call the office on Monday to let him know how it's doing.  In the meantime, he is putting my paperwork through to the insurance company to get approval for the replacement surgery.  So that tells me he thinks he will be replacing the TE next week.  He said it's still surgery but wouldn't be nearly as bad as the mastectomy.

jbennett-that is how it went with me too.  Put more in, call on Monday.  SpecialK told me it wasn't as bad and she was right!  It really isn't.  Short surgery, I didn't have any drains either.  Had it on Friday, went to dinner out Saturday after church.  Driving my self by monday.  Keep us informed!  How far away from exchange were you?  Mine said if I could maintain most of the fluid he put in to test it I could go straight to exchange, but I couldn't.

chickadee-I had 400cc in the left (leaky) and 310cc in the right.  He had not mentioned exchange until today when he found out I was leaking.  He asked what size I would like to be and said if I was expanded enough he could go right to exchange. But that's not going to happen.  My appointment was at 10:15 today and I think I can already tell that it's flattening out. How soon did yours leak again?

Anyway, he said he would like to do the exchange next week.  Hoping for no drains! I'm glad to hear the surgery isn't so bad.  I have a wedding to go to Saturday night and I really don't want to miss it. It is about a 2+ hour drive.  Do you think I will be about to make it?

I got re-filled on a friday and could tell by the next day.  And by sunday very noticeable.  I must have stopped leaking though because you really couldn't tell the difference even though there was about 200cc difference between the two.  That is about what it is now.  I would guess that if you have it early in the week and don't expect to be swinging from the rafters at the wedding you should be good.  Nice thing too is since you are already expanded he should be able to fill you up a little too so you don't look so lopsided.

chickadee - thanks for the post.  I think I can tell already.  It has flattened out a little already.  My son says he doesn't notice but I don't think he really wants to look that closely to my "boobs"!

PS said he would be able to fill the new TE quite a bit.  He didn't fill the other side today which had less anyway, so hopefully they will look similar.

The easiest way for me to tell was to put on a shirt with a scoop cleavage, like a tank or cami.  One side would lay different.  My daughter (7) tried to lay he head on me last night and just pick it up, looked at me and decided to lay on her pillow.

chickadee-my friend and hairdresser just had a baby.  She had him in the shop the other day and he was sleeping so soundly on the chest of another client.  It was her turn, so I said I would take him.  Well there was no going back to sleep on MY chest.  I couldn't find a way to make him comfortable so had to give him to someone else. Frown

Pretty sure the TE is leaking.  It just feels different.  Thanks for your input!!

Hi ladies.  Just got back from PS.  Skin looks great, fluid is gone, and we did another fill with no problems!  I'm so happy.  This is the first time in weeks that there have been no surprises or bad drama.  I have 5 fills left on the left TE, then the right one goes back in at the end of November/beginning of December.  We have a plan, Stan!  Happy Friday everyone Laughing  Oh, by the way, was at Old Navy yesterday and they have the cutest pink ribbon t shirts (short and long sleeve) and a cute pink zip up hoodie.  I got one of everything!  Have a fabulous weekend.

Hope everyone had a happy fill day.  I got another 60cc.  Only 150 left to go to get it back to where it was before.  He looked at me today and thought they looked the same size, but the don't.  Weird how the first 200cc or so makes such an obvious difference.

On a different note....my dryer....I am so mad.  I know in the grand scheme of things this is not a big deal BUT...I could not get the "liscensed" service tech to call me back.  I had called 2 and neither would call me back.  Meanwhile, a local repair man was more then willing to come fix my dryer but he couldn't because he was not "liscensed" to service this particular brand.  So I call customer service again and rant and they call one of them and tell them to call me back.  He does, says maybe he can get to me today, and also tells me to call customer service back again and raise heck that they won't cover this service call.  So I did.  Told them I was very upset that I spent this kind of money on an appliance and was getting the run around (first off) and that I had to pay for it (second off).  He reminded me that I am the one that declined the extended warranty.  Ugh, I should not have to buy an extended warranty on a "quality" product.  Then he says if I want to file a claim I can by submitting the original purchase receipt.  So I say, if I submit this you might reimburse my service call today.  He says no, you submit, then you wait while we decide if we except your claim and THEN you service your machine. Oh boy I went off.  Again, in the grand scheme of things this in NOT a big deal, but they were messing with the wrong woman today.  Ended up hanging up on them and telling them I will never recommend their products to my friends.

Have a great friday night everyone!  I need a beer!

chick - Go get a beer right now!  I should have one with you - been a while since I had a beer.  DH and I went to mexican food last weekend and I had a mojito - it was pretty fun!  It was pretty strong though and I am not used to drinking, thus I am an incredibly cheap drunk!  Sorry about your dryer - they don't make them like they used to, do they?

Glad all have happy fill stories this week!  I am going to a conference tomorrow given by Moffitt Cancer Center, on women's cancers.  Should be interesting - if there are any recon presentations, or useful products I will give you all a full report.  Have a great weekend!

I saw the PS today and he removed ALL of the sutures.  I was so glad.  I do not go back to see him for a month and that will probably be the last time for a while.  I am not planning to do this again, but I may want him to reomove the excess tissue later.  This part is mostly over for me. Yeah!! I hope everyone has a great weekend.

psalms91, I too just started PT this week. (My BMX was in FEB but I had TE complications and righty was removed in July. Finally ready for PT.) I went really slow, really light, only did range of motion, no weights, and stretching. I did not push myself AT ALL (so unlike me pre-BC but post-BC I listen to my body more). Also, I am afraid of lymphodema so I am not pushing it, am being gentle with myself and making sure I elevate my arm after I worked it out.

Sounds like you overworked your muscles a bit and they are now letting your know they are awake and paying attention! So that is a good thing. But take it easy next session and see how you feel. there will be time to get stronger. Patience, patience should be BC's nickname!

Good healing to you all getting stiches out and getting fills! Yahoo!!!  Fially some happy news! Enjoy the weekend.

Sorry to say that I am now officially in your "club" temporarily, but there is a silver lining...

(I had a question a week or so ago about a leaking incision.) Over the weekend the leak got worse & I noticed a pinhole. By Mon, the hole was about the size of a quarter & the surrounding skin was very, very thin. PS removed the TE in his office.

I had a lat flap on my radiated side & that side has held up fine. Go figure that my non-radiated side is the one giving me trouble!

Options: 1. reinsert the TE in a week or 2 & try again or 2. do a lat flap on the other side w/exchange for final implants @ the same time. I am going w/another lat flap because I feel that my skin is already compromised & this really shortens up the recon process for me even though it is a much bigger surgery. Will prob go w/a slightly smaller implant than I originally was shooting for because I was almost expanded enough.

Surgery is scheduled for the end of next week. Smile

Sorry for all of you that have had to endure extended time w/the TEs. I don't think there is any way to be prepared for how uncomfortable they are. Now I am looking forward to getting the other one out!

(SpecialK, I am also in Tampa.)

Wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them:

I had tissue expanders filled for the first time on Wed.  They were put in immediately after bilateral mastectomy in July;  The problem was it really hurt when he stuck the needle in which I wasn't expecting because everybody else said it didn't hurt.  THEN when he took the need out it bled and bled and bled. The nurse had to apply pressure to stot the bleeding  Ran down my side and puddled on the table. Both nurse and Dr said they have never seen anyone bleed so much except one other person and she was on cumidin.  That scared me.  I am not on any blood thinners.  I have done two rounds of chemo (A/C).  So dreading the next "fill up".
