DEbbiey - I am so glad you found us here. This is a wonderful and very supportive group. I am so sorry for all you're going through, we've all been there but with different stories. Do you have a follow up with your PS this week? If not I'd call and go see him/her. I had my TE removed 4 weeks ago tomorrow and the first 1-2 weeks it looked awful too. Now it is starting to heal and looks so much better...hang in there it does improve. I think its really hard to see that flat (concave) area after having something there. I feel like I have grieved the loss of my breasts all over since this happened. One of the good pieces of advice I got on this thread if you haven't read back through it is to eat plenty of protein - 100 G/day. I am really focusing on eating high quality protein daily and I think it is helping with the healing. You do need to take it easy but not so easy with 4 children!

when you say 100g protien a day do you mean like a 100 gram steak a day or do you mean as there are a 20 grams protien in 100grams of fish so you need to eat 500 grams of fish or equivelent a day? That is quite a lot how do you manage to do it in a day?

debbley - Glad you found us. As I said to you in the other thread there are lots of great women here who will offer you support. You have a lot going on, and having 4 children to look after on top of everything else must but be really tough right now. Hang in there….I know it must seem insurmountable right now, but you will get through this. Hugs.

Hi Debbiey-welcome to an all new club.  I seem to have had this least trouble of all the ladies here, my TE just sprung a leak.  But I like hanging around here because these are a great group of supportive ladies!

chickadee: We used to sell girl scout cookies in February/March! I guess it would be too cold for you guys to do booths at that time of year...never thought about that, I thought cookies came around at the same time wherever you live. My 13 yr old decided to quit girl scouts this year, I can't say I'll miss selling cookies...:)

Miasanta-So. IL does a fall sale while Missouri does a Febuary sale.  That is until this year.  This year we get to do a fall sale AND a feb sale.  Then from now on we will only do feb. sale.  In Ohio when I was little it was a feb sale and it was miserable cold.  Not looking forward to switching to that.

I go tomorrow morning to have my left leaky TE replaced.  I would like to ask everyone to say a little prayer for me that all goes well.  PS says the surgery shouldn't take very long but I might end up with a drain. I hope not!

Chickadee - The wedding was great.  I'm so glad I waited until tomorrow to have my surgery.  After being home most of the summer, I mentally needed the interaction with my friends.

    Thanks everyone!

jbennett38 - Hope you don't need the drain, saying a prayer for you and will be thinking of you tomorrow.

debbiey - glad to hear you see your PS tomorrow. Regarding protein, not the weight, but the grams. For example I get some atkins shakes that have 16 g of protein & drink 2xday as a supplement to my diet. You're right though - it is hard to get 100 in a day but a goal to shoot for. I hope you get good news tomorrow too.

jbennett - good luck! Glad you had a nice weekend!  I will say a no drain prayer for you!

debbiey - welcome!  This is a great group with an impressive amount of collective wisdom about the mysteries of the TE!  Sorry you are here but glad to see you.

I have been away from the site for a few days and ZOOM!  can't keep up! Welcome to new members!

RE: PROTEIN INTAKE: You need 100 grams total daily. Example: One serving of Fage Greek Yogurt has 23 grams of protein. (That is nearly 25% of daily requirement right there.) 23 whole almonds has 6 grams of protein; 1 ounce of toasted pumpkin seeds has 8.5 grams. 6 ounces of salmon has 34 grams. A cup of cooked lentils has 18 grams.

    Hope that helps!

    fluff-I couldn't open anything...

And by the way, all you ladies that claim to have 20 year olds...NO WAY!  You all could be in your 30's!

SpecialK and everyone else -- those NO DRAIN prayers worked!!! Had my TE replaced today and he "loosened up" some stuff. PS told my husband that the TE had somehow folded over on itself and he punctured it probably when he did the last fill. He said he did a through and through. He had never seen one do that before.  Of course, it had to happen with me.  I'm in a little more pain than I thought I would be (considering I was numb there to begin with), but overall I think I'm doing well and thankful this part is over.  He was able to fill it to 260cc, so I'm just 50cc less on the left than the right.  He thinks he will be able to fill it a little more next week when I go back to his office.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their kind wishes and thoughts.  Everyone on this board is so nice and helpful.  It really is nice to hear from people who understand what you are going though!

Yeah jbennett!  I was wondering about you!!  That is great about no drains and that he got so much in you.  My PS was expecting to find something similar to what yours found.  Instead he found an actual hole or rupture not sure what he told my DH.

fluff - I got scared Surprised

jbennett - yay!  But crazy about the folding deal.  Awesome that you got that much fill so didn't lose too much progress.

chick - I also have a 23 yr old son - and I was 32 when he was born - do that math!  The double nickel is next month!  I can't believe I am this freakin' old!  All my new little post-chemo gray hair doesn't lie though :(

ren - are you really eating all that healthy stuff - if so, I bow down to you!

    dll66 - still feeling ok?

debbiey - what did the PS say?

SpecialK - you REALLY look great.  So what about a little gray hair....be proud!

I have a 28 year old son and turned 50 this year.  I can honestly say it hasn't been my favorite year...and not because I turned 50.

jbennett - thanks!  I am just happy to have hair at this point!  The year I turned 50 my oldest went away for his freshman year of college and we moved to Tampa where I knew nobody!  I think we can all agree the past year - not so great!  Hopefully we all will have better times coming, right?

    Yay for no drains, jbennett!

Still feeling good--thanks for asking, SpecialK. I don't need the muscle relaxers or pain meds during the day, but still take them at bedtime so I can get some rest. I've been plagued with insomnia since starting tamoxifen. Follow up with the PS on Wed & expect to get the front drain removed.

WOW!!  Wish I would have found you ladies a few months ago.  Would have made this crazy TE drama a little easier.  I thought I was the only one with all the TE problems.  5 surgeries in 3 months.   Had my left TE removed Wednesday for the 2nd time.  That one was only in for less than 2 weeks.  Had allergic reaction to Cephalexin - it was thinning my skin, bright red, peeling skin.  I told my PS I was having a reaction to it but he didn't believe me.  TE got infected and was removed.  Out with the bra stuffers...again!  I thought I was done with all that.  But hopefully the 3rd time will be a charm for me too.  We'll see.  PS wants to wait 2-3 mos. before trying again.

DLL-I wouldn't call it insomnia, but I have not been sleeping good since starting the tamoxifen either.  The other night I had a dream I was bit by a rattle snake (thanks SpecialK-how's the friend doing by the way).

    WhitneyV-Boo, but welcome.

Question for all you that keep getting infections...did you get alloderm put in originally.  My PS used it on me, but warned me it could up my chances of infection.  I lucked out and it didn't.

SpecialK-I did the math and you are old, JK :)  You still look great!

Good girl, JBennett.  Glad you're home and all went well.

Chickadee...Yes, I had the alloderm.  One took, one didn't.  Replacement TE surgery after Thanksgiving.

Do any of you have itching?  I get it from time to time on the back of my right shoulder.  When I go to itch it, it's numb and I can't get it to stop.  My husband massaged it last night and that helped for a bit. It drives me nuts.

    Special K...how bout those Rays?!
