@cookie54 thank you for replying! It's quiet around here! Yes I have had an MRI done, which showed segmental NME indicative of DCIS. That was actually my first scan this go around. I am currently at MD Anderson for an all day appointment. They reread your biopsy tissue when you come here and that new path report was posted already.... they said ADH with DCIS. I am just hoping this will be a speedy process and we can get everything moving... every turn has been darker and darker leaning more towards cancer than ADH yet it's been slow. I started this in September and it's already mid November. ... and ive had the discharge since April and the lump for 2 years...

@cookie54 the same thing is happening to me. I was diagnosed in 2015 with Adh 9 years later, and I was just diagnosed with IDC and DCIS. Grade 3. I'm still waiting on er pr her status. I'm just at the beginning of my diagnosis. I'd love to talk more with you. I haven't spoken with my onco yet. My results came in through the wonderful patient portal.

I am so glad I found this group!
I was diagnosed with Atypical Ductal Hyperplasia on November 14 of this year. I received a call from my doctor's office on Monday that they will be referrign me to a surgeon for next steps. Is that always the protocol for ADH or do they have information that makes it more likely that it is something more to be explored.

@chub30 we welcome you warmly here. Here is a page that you may find helpful:
This is a cut and paste from that page:
With atypical ductal hyperplasia (ADH), there are more cells than usual in the lining of the breast duct, the tube that carries milk from the lobules (milk sacs) to the nipple. These cells share some, but not all, of the features of low-grade ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), both in terms of growth patterns and appearance. ADH is a benign breast condition linked to a moderate increase in breast cancer risk.If you have a core needle biopsy that discovers atypical cells, your doctor likely will go on to remove more of the tissue in that area. Since ADH is not a true cancer, though, there can be some variation in how doctors approach them. Some doctors feel there is no need for additional surgery after the initial biopsy. Decisions about removal have to be made on a case-by-case basis. You and your doctor can work together to make the best choice for you.
With ADH, you may wish to seek a second opinion, asking another pathologist to review the tissue samples. This might reassure you that this is atypical hyperplasia and not an early form of breast cancer.
We are here for you!!

Hi, I had adh 9 years ago. I was just diagnosed on Dec. 9th with idc and dcis. Er+pr+her2-(fish) ki67 20% stage 2a grade3. Did anyone end up with similar results. What were your next steps. When I had adh my surgery was quick. I feel like everything is taking so long tjis time around. I told my surgeon I want a lumpectomy because I'm just not ready to get a mx and a lumpectomy surgery is qu
I can get in quicker. He sent me to see the plastic surgeon any way. He offered unilateral mx with implants. I don't want implants for the rest of my life. I'm 58 now. I'm so confused. Can I get some advice. Maybe I'm on the wrong thread, but I joined in 2015. TIA

@chub30 I wanted to send a quick note about your question. In my experience, the next step after the biopsy was a lumpectomy to ensure there was nothing more serious around the ADH area. After the lumpectomy, the doctors offered Tamoxifen and advised six-month screenings—alternating mammo and ultrasound. I hope this helps, and all the best.
@tinkerbell49 I can't be much help here. I'm hoping you'll get your answers very soon, and someone else might chime in to share their similar experience
