Helpful information for those who are at high risk for breast cancer: Some suggestions from the main Breastcancer.org site: * The expansive Know Your Risk section is extremely helpful if you have questions about what risk factors are, what you can or can't do about them, and more! * The Genetic Testing section is key for…
In October 2025 I was diagnosed with sclerosing adenosis. I do understand this is a benign condition, but according to the NIH, and Mayo Clinic studies, the damage the disease causes creates a “breeding ground” for certain cancers - carrying a 1-2 fold increased risk of developing these cancers in 15 years time. It’s…
Hi I was diagnosed with ADH 13 years ago when I was in my 30's. Had a few biopsies since then but everything came back normal. I went recently for my mammogram/ultrasound and was called back for a diagnostic ultrasound. The impression states: Left breast mass at 11:00 1 cm from the nipple which demonstrates interval…
Hello, My dr. wants me to get a breast MRI which uses gadolinium. I am very afraid of this as my dad had a cardiac arrest during contrast and also in addition to BC in my family there's a lot of Parkinsons. I also have autoimmune issues! Basically…I don't need any more problems. The dr will not allow me to have it without…
I had my cardio cat scan everything was good, so why is my LVEF low? I must get back to treatment I worry my cancer will come out of Remission!
Hello Everyone, I just turned 40 and alternate MRI and Mammogram/Ultrasound every 6 months due to family history. So far, they have been benign. This one says benign, but mentions "tiny bilateral pleural effusion". When I asked Dr. Google (I know…) about it, I saw both that this can be an indicator of really bad things,…
Hi all, long post to give context but the TLDR is — what to do about a large lump with high-risk/atypical findings (but not necessarily malignant) and positive-margins in one breast five years after early stage cancer in the other breast? Five years ago, I had a lumpectomy and radiation for stage 1 ER/PR-negative cancer in…
I'll try to keep the background as short as possible—unfortunately, it is a bit of a twisted tale. I had a screening breast MRI in Sept. last year. It came back BI-RADS 5 (greater than 95% likely cancer). The targeted US showed a rather benign-looking nodule that was presumed to be the one seen on the MRI. An US-guided…
Just wondering how many ladies out there decided to have prophylactic masectomies when your diagnosis was ALH or ADH? I know I can't be the only one.... Hugs to all, Valerie
I had stage 1 idc at 47 successfully treated, and a cousin had dcis. I’m concerned about my adult daughter’s risk, especially since she has dense breasts. She will get her first mammogram this year, but does an MRI every other year help detect problems sooner? Are oral contraceptives risky, or only after a diagnosis?
