With thoughts of Marybe and her family,
I was so moved by Ruthbru's posting of the words Rossiter Raymond, I looked up the source. It is a poem he wrote:
Death is Only an Horizon
O God, who holdest all souls in life;
and callest them unto thee as seemeth best:
we give them back, dear God, to thee who gavest them to us.
But as thou didst not lose them in the giving,
so we do not lose them by their return.
For not as the world giveth, givest thou,
O Lord of souls: that which thou givest thou takest away:
for life is eternal, and love is immortal,
and death is only the horizon,
and the horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.
Rossiter W. Raymond ( 1840 - 1918 )So hard to say goodbye to someone who has made such a differene for so many. Her Spirit is definitely going to be a part of many of us who were blessed to read her words, and be informed by her courage.

I just saw this about Marybe over on the Stage 4 Board, and came over here right away! Omigod....not Marybe!! She has always been our rock. No matter what the cancer threw at her she kept on going and fighting back!! So full of life. My heart is breaking. I am praying and crying for you, Marybe. I hope you are not in any pain. Please God....a miracle for our Marybe!!
I am so glad Barb will be there with her and will let us know how she is doing. I truly cannot believe this is happening to Marybe.0 -

Sisters...as Marybe slips away peacefully, we should be celebrating her life and all the joy she has given us. Her gift to us was that she lived a noble life and left us all a blueprint of how to carry on... Certainly, a profile in courage. I feel blessed to have had her, all too briefly, as a friend.

I have just come on to check how things are. As usual Marybe, you are a trouper. You have inspired me and so many other.
Big hugs to all.

Yes, voraciousreader...if we could all be as compassionate and giving as Marybe. Her courage was so admirable. It's just hard to think about this "rock" won't be giving us all assurance! She never cared if we were stage 1 or stage 1V! We were all in the same boat... And her words comforted so many of us.

Voraciousreader,
Well said. I pray for her and her family but dwell on the gift she brought to us.

I know Barb won't get to the hospital until later, but I keep coming back here over and over, hoping for news of Marybe. Not THAT news, but news that maybe she's rallied. She has been such a good friend to so many, whether we'd met her or not. Always so giving, always so kind and gracious. Prayers for her, her father and family, and especially for Tim. We love you, Marybe.

Oh, no no no! Oh, Marybe you were doing better! How could this happen so quickly?
Yes, please God.... a miracle for Marybe! "Hope springs eternal!". I love it when she says that - always something good had just happened - so I'm holding onto that now for Marybe.
But Lord, if you have other plans, please bathe Marybe in all the love and light we have for her and make her journey an easy one. But come on, Marybe! Please ....hope springs eternal!

I cannot get my mind off the fact that our Marybe is this ill, in a coma. I am praying and asking God for a miracle. She has supported so many of us in the hard times.
I was supposed to meet her and other ladies from the board in Snell Knob, Mo. exactly one year ago this month. I was soooo looking forward to finally meeting Marybe, who I already felt was my good friend. The week before I left, I fell and broke my ankle so badly it required surgery then had to be completely off it for 8 weeks. I was so disappointed, and so was Marybe. I kept hoping there would be another opportunity for us to get together....0 -
This is not @ justjudie, but I have to point out that Marybe is sedated with morphine. She is not in a coma. There is a BIG difference, with the possibility to rally being considerably higher. She may or may not slip into a coma, but let's not put her there prematurely. Besides relieving pain, morphine reduces the"workload" of the heart, and that may be a good thing right now.
We've had the story in bits and pieces. Hopefully, we will hear from BarbA soon and get a better picture of her condition.

What worries me is what the morphine will do to her - it's evil.
Barb hope you get there soon - love to Mary.

I am here! Marybe is resting very comfortably. Her room is full of friends and family. Her cater, her friend Lee, her friend Kathy, and three more people and Tim of course. I sat holding her hand for some time and let her know I was here. More later.

Barb - please send our best wishes to Mary and her family - she is in our hearts.

Thanks Barbara for letting us know.

I like to think that the morphine is protecting her body, giving her a chance to rally. Marybe is so much about life, loving life, living life... this is all so unimaginable to me. I continue to hope. Thank you, Barbara, for keeping us updated. And love to you and Marybe's family and friends.

I cannot believe I didn't know Marybe was in my hometown. I used to always seek out people to meet and lunch with, etc. If there is anything I can do from my end please speak up. Barb, if you need somewhere to stay there is always an open room in my home. I can at least say Christ Hospital is a very good hospital and she is getting the best of care there. I'll keep praying and please PM me if there is anything I can do.

This is absolutely heartbreaking. Marybe has always been such a comfort to others. I hope she has a peaceful transition from this life to the next.

Eli, I'm with you ... I don't want to talk final while taking the load off her system might be doing some good.
Susieq, I've seen many, many friends/family on morphine when needed, and then off morphine when not needed. It can be a wonderful drug when used properly to ease pain and lighten the load.
Barbara, big hugs to you. You've had a lot on your plate this year, and to just up and go to be with Marybe touches us all. I've said before and will continue to say that the bonds we forth with some of our sistahs though this website is like nothing that others can ever understand.
Marybe, I want to read your post where you laugh at all of us for being so dour during this most challenge that you face. I love you.

I sat with her tonight and told her all of your names and your prayers for her and the love you sent and she smiled. I talked with her about her visit where we went to the Dali museum and I bought her earrings and she bought me a tee shirt with ants on it. I told her Marty teased me about having ants in my pants and she smiled again. Tim is staying tonight and I will be back around 7 tomorrow. She is at peace and knows we are there. Heading to pray then to bed after I scarf down dinner.
