I probably looked like a questionmark... then it dawned on me this was whatevah from the site.. Never said I was bright.. I was as if we were old friends (I use the term "old" loosely) I am honored to have met these ladies and hope to meet again in August

Whatevah did nt want to be in the picture so she was our photographer

She - I am so sorry to hear of the recurrence.  Wish I could have told you that in person at the lunch, but I'm in Rossland right now on a ski vacation with my daughter.  Thoughts are with you.

Thanks Sneaky! It's been a pretty crazy few weeks. I thought you were out of town this weekend, next time we will plan a little further in advance (August). For a spontaneous lunch, today was perfect and Whatevah was a great surprise.

Marian, I'm totally impressed with Ossa too, she's elected left coast picture poster lol.

Marian, yep, on a Saturday ...  My usual chemo days are Fridays and any time there's a Stat in that week I end up going on a Saturday.  On the up side, it's really easy to find free parking.  Just trying to catch up on the different threads but I can't believe you're walking 5K!!

I've been busy just trying to figure things out (re stage 2 of reconstruction) and working on the ROM on my right arm.  It had been 3 months since surgery but ROM was still quite limited but finally got set up with a physiotherapist and been going to yoga (doing modified poses) for almost a month now and there's been a huge difference.  Am heading away for a little get away with my hubby and didn't even think about lyphedema. My PT recommended that I get a compression sleeve as a preventative measure so I'll keep my fingers crossed that it will be an uneventful flight.

I'll keep up on this thread in case there's a get together earlier than August.  Enjoy the sunshine!!

Two years since confirmation of my diagnosis... though in my heart I knew long before this.. Been two years of ups and downs... I have learned so much about myself, I have found out I am a lot stronger than I thought I was... It has been a lot of tears, anger, laughter, personal hell, I have found out how much my boys care.. they have been there for me every step of the way.. My DH has been my rock (though he drives me nuts sometimes) he has always been there for me, I am surprised he is still around as I have experienced some foul moodswing and he was (is) the main recipient of my moods..I have found out who my true friends are, I have gained new friends \i have lost some "friends"  Decided I do not need "fairweather friends> I want true friends who are there when you need them..And I have "met" all you courageous ladies.. I am living by some great word of wisdom She gave me....Cancer has taken enough from me.. I do not allow it to take anything else.. I am in charge....Thank you for being there for me ladis you all rock

Wow Ossa, your words are beautiful. I think our DH and kids can sometimes feel the brunt of our frustrations during treatment, we can all relate. A DX sure changes the family. We are all fighters that's for sure. When I was first DX, almost a year ago now, you reached out to me, our cancers were so similar, just size difference. You were from my families home town so I felt a instant attachment. I will never forget your words, "They are not doing this too you but for you". I reminded myself often....thank you. Some dates we will never forget...

Thank you everyone for all the inspiration and Encouragement you give to all the newbies, it makes a difference.

She, enjoy the vitamin D, I am so jealous, I still have a few feet of snow in my yard.

    Happy Sunday All!

Hi Ladies, Has anyone in this group done cold capping?  I am planning to and just wondered how it went and how it was received at the Cancer Centre.

    Hi shipsgirl,

I didn't, but a friend who is currently in chemo is doing the cold caps and I believe she said she is the first patient to do so at the Vancouver agency.  She does all the pre and post-chemo cold capping in the 5th floor lounge.  I know it's a long day (9 am - 3 or 4pm for AC) for her and she has to have at least 1 person there tending to the cap situation the whole time, but if you've got the $$ and a good support person then I think it's doable. I asked how long her day was going to be with taxol because it was a 5 hour infusion for me (versus 1 hr AC), but she said it'll take about the same amount of time because her infusion are shorter.  I was on dose-dense and she was doing weekly so that must be the difference.  I'm assuming you'd have to go with weekly taxol if you wanted to cold cap it because the day would just be too long otherwise.

    Best of luck!

Hi Sneaky, thanks for the feedback.  That is really helpful!  5th floor lounge huh?  I wondered about pre and post.  I knew it would be a long day, though I live quite close to the BCC so I could come home with a cap on and finish here.

Did she just show up and get sent to the 5th floor?or how did she arrange that?  I've been wondering what happens when I show up with 2 coolers full of dry ice and my electric blanket etc etc.  My Oncologist has had no experience with them and is skeptical, but is quite willing to support me.

How is it working out for your friend?  How many cycles has she done and is she keeping her hair?
