Albeit belated, congrats, Shipsgirl! Hope you're feeling more energy with each passing day.
Pretty good idea, Hugz. The one thing that made chemo more 'enjoyable' for me was treating myself to things I normally wouldn't/couldn't do. Despite limited $$ I always ate lunch out somewhere that was dear to my heart pre-chemo. Post-chemo I would meet up with my parents and go out for ice cream or whatever else my heart desired. For the next week I handed over pretty much all parenting responsiblities over to my ex and my parents and watched movies on my computer at any hour I wished without guilt. In a way, I tried to make it a holiday for me. Oddly enough, I somewhat looked forward to chemo day because of this even though I knew I was going to feel like shit afterwards. Whatever gets us through it....

Thanks for the good wishes. Love the t shirt idea. Looking forward to getting some energy and enjoying the rest of summer. Rads don't start until September.

Well it's almost here. Tomorrow is my last Taxol treatment!!!! I'm a bundle of nerves, totally anxious. It's been so long, but I'm soooo looking forwards to getting my life, not to mention hair back! I still have Herceptin until the end of January. Does this mean I'm PFC? Or does Herceptin still technically count as chemo?
I'm nervous about radiation, may it's just because it's something new.
I've been planning Hazel's first birthday, so it's been a great distraction. We're also taking her on her first camping trip in two weeks. August is crazy busy!
All I know is I want to celebrate!!!0 -
Congrats on finishing up, Mirmirpanda! A celebration is definitely in order. I wanted the same... went on a 5-day ski holiday with my 6-year old 6 days PFC. Enjoy this time between chemo and rads.

I'd go if I'm around. I'm all over the place for the next few months so don't look to me to suggest times and/or commit. I'll just pop in if the stars align. Outdamnspot, Marian, and I were planning on meeting up next Monday evening somewhere around False Creek, in case others are interested.

Sneakychiquita ... would have liked to meet up with you guys on Monday unfortunately I can't make it that night. Next time.

Good to see you all here and like Sneaky I am in if I can make it. Ossa, so excited for you and all that is happening!
Marie, if you happen to check in here, maybe you want to meet up with us on Monday night? Sneaky would you mind if I asked Rupi and Barbara? No worries if not.

Marie, any chance you are interested in the Monday evening meet?

Hello British Columbia Ladies!
Well today has turned into a beautiful day! I hope that you are enjoying some sunshine wherever you are. It really feels like the end of summer is coming for me.
It started out raining and dismal where I am (Horseshoe Bay area) and now brilliant sunshine and warmth in the afternoon!
My DH and DS have gone out for a round of golf and I'm going to take the dogs for a walk and then putting up my feet to watch a movie (one that only I want to watch).
This week I'll be at the BCCA on Wed Sept 4 at 9 am for a RO follow up. I'm not really sure why I am having a follow up and I'm not sure what to ask him if anything.
What scans if any do you all get after radiation is done?
Is anyone else going to be at BCCA around that time?
I'm looking forward to grabbing a blueberry scone from the cafeteria and could hang around for a chit chat if anyone happens to be going there around the same time.
Marie

Hi Marie,
Yes, nice weather here in East Van as well! Just got back from a mini-vacation with my daughter on the island and the sunshine coast and planning to spend the day relaxing near home base today.
As for the RO follow-up, mine was pretty useless. He checked out my skin and said all looks good and discharged me from his care. But your radiation was specifically targeting your hip, right? If so, maybe they will offer a follow-up bone scan to see if how that spot fared? I would love to meet up on Wednesday but I won't be around then. Hope the days goes well and you find someone to meet up with.
Enjoy today. Sounds like you've got a good one lined up.

Hi everyone. I'm from Powell River and have had two separate primaries within two years. I went to the Rapid Access Breast Cancer Clinic in Mt. St. Joseph's Hospital and was treated very well.....surgeon was great as was her nurse advocate Imelda. Curious to know if anyone with a similar diagnosis also didn't get chemo? Does anyone know where they might do autologous fat grafting in Van, or Victoria (or anywhere in Canada)? I refuse blood tests as John Hopkins University Breast cancer clinic say they are very unreliable and so, without symptoms, they don't do them for anyone with stage 1 to 3 breast cancers. I find the waiting too hard. I am 63. Here, in Powell River, we are somewhat isolated and often have to go out-of-town....in my case, because I wanted a sentinel node biopsy this time around....taking 7 nodes the last time kept me in bad pain for almost two years. It is one rough journey first time around...not so much second time around because you kind of know the procedure...but still.....hoping everyone is well and happy and enjoying the Fall-like weather!!!!

Hi bluepearl. Glad you found is not glad your here tho! I had only 1 primary and did have chemo..but heard there was major testing & decisions being made as they learned not all BC's needed chemo, perhaps that's why? No clue about that.. I'm surprised to hear they didn't do a sentinol node the 1st time. Glad things are going well now for you, I think that's what you were saying?!

Hi Bluepearl~~I think I recall you being on this thread awhile back? I am also MSJH or was as I was discharged from my BS, Dr. Dingee in June. But now back with a small lump just below scar line that I had an U/S on yesterday. Radiologist wants it redone with him present so they are trying to organize it in conjunction with Dr. Lee as he is doing my U/S guided thyroid biopsy Monday.
So where are you in treatment as you mention waiting? Do you by chance know Jana Packard and Sean Palmer. They are good friends who live near Eagle Creek. Jana plays serious duplicate bridge so in in Powell River often.
Koshka, either is fine with me but Ossa what are your hours then?
Hi Cher!

Marianelizabeth, I 've been wondering how you are doing, and glad to find you here. Sorry to hear about the lump, and best wishes for the thyroid biopsy too. I'm having a bone scan on Sept. 17 because of a tender spot under my left arm on the chest wall. Say no more . . . How is your hubby doing with the sailing?

liefie it does seem to be never ending. But I did just get another call and both the biopsy and the repeat U/S will be done at the same time on Monday and so I hope the weekend goes fast. Sorry to hear you have a "spot" now too.
Here is Dick's blog link. He is not doing it but a good friend here is managing it from what Dick sends. David, the good friend will be crew on the last leg crossing the Atlantic. I am glad I decided not to go with what has been happening but am so glad he is living his dream and he really is! Our youngest son is probably going to go for the crossing in November and I am so happy for that too as he has been such a great companion with me so far and a break with his dad will be so good. I tried unseuccessfully to use the link above so you may have to copy/paste the link.

Hi: don't know Jana or Sean. I just hated waiting for blood test results, so refuse them. I hope the "lump" near your scar is benign.....just over grown scar tissue. My first and second primaries were 1 cm exact and .8mm....the first was low grade so can understand that. I asked for oncotype test but they did not want to do it....at Mount St. Joseph's or oncologist in Victoria....said my treatment would be the same...anti hormone. (I have had mastectomies). There was no lymphvascular invasion. Did chest X-ray and CT scan.....oncologist here said not necessary as that"s a work up for more advanced stages and stage 1 doesn't get them. I didn't get a sentinel the first time around because surgeons here don't know how to do them. I really had to be my own advocate the second time around. The surgeons say they don't get insulted but they do and wouldn't even do a referral to Vancouver. I just stomped into the clinic, asked for doctor on call, had my info on the breast clinic with list of doctors who do sentinel nodes, made a big fuss on a Friday morning and got a call Friday afternoon with an appointment the following Wed AND a surgery scheduled the following Monday. THAT was quick. So, advise being your own advocate and a squeaky wheel.
Hope your biopsies are all B-9!!!!! Cher...how big was your tumor? Mine was .8mm...could that be it....I am also an oldie....63.

Marianelizabeth, will be thinking of you tomorrow, and hope for the best outcome for you. Will try to read that blog. Really sounds as if your DH is living his dream - how wonderful that he can do that! We are boaters too, so will follow his progress. Exciting times ahead for your son too, and wonderful memories will be made.

Girls, How do I tell if a slightly bumpy in the scarline is a reccurence or not? My scarline always seems a little bit bumpy from day one and I have been 9 years out. Also my underarm seems bumpy since I had all nodes out there? I really can"t tell what I have especially since I have Lobular BC which grows like stacked file folders which are flat and not really noticable lumps?

My oncologist said mets there tend to look like tiny red pimples. I don't know if that's 100% correct.

thx bluepearl. I will have to do more research.
