Hi everyone, sorry for the silence! I have been thinking of you ladies. I checked the posts before and wrote up some stuff, but just when I thought I had submitted, I got logged off, lost everything.

Dorothy 26: Yes I had the OncoType done, and my MO did not think the benefit was clear to have chemo, so I didn't.

Stellamaris: Hope you have recovered well and thank you for thinking of me. Met a lady today who said her friend complained about a Breast Clinic surgeon to her. When she got the name out from her phone messages, it turned out to be someone we know!

Marian: Hope you are healing well after the surgery. May I ask you, how did the doctor conclude that your lump was a fat, through biopsy?

I finally had the u/s and a mammo done yesterday. From the u/s, one of the 2 doctors thought the lump was a fat necrosis, the other one was concerned about an IDC as it is close to my surgery site, so she suggested a biopsy. I asked her if MRI would help rule out, she said it would. They could not see the lump on the mammo (I was very reluctant to do it again-- 4 more shots on the cancer breast, and once again it did not turn out useful in my case with dense breast tissues, even with a lump one can see with naked eyes and feel with fingers).

The fact that the lump is on the biopsy track and appeared soon after my biopsy, in my mind it is easily connected with the biopsy (as fat), and has been there through my surgeries, only it seems to have gotten a bit bigger. But fat can grow too, right?

Take care and enjoy the spring! Taking care of yourself is your first priority -- something I learned at today's seminar, share with all the wonderful people here!

BeachLife, I did nothing about the fat lump and it went away so was the fat I guess. I recall getting a call for a biopsy weeks if not month later but said I was having my exchange soon and not to worry. For you, will they book an MRI?

Spring out but cool still~~am enjoying my short walks each day, seeing how fast everything is growing.

Marianelizabeth, Happy to read you are feeling better and out for your walks each day.

Beachlife, thanks for replying. Still waiting for my results........

Beautiful sunny day here in TO but the breeze was a little cool till later in the afternoon. It can only get better from now on!! Love the sunshine...makes one feel so much better.

    Have a great evening all.

Hi Everyone: I am 3 weeks post op and healing well. I won't have to have rads, and will be going back to work April 25th. Just wanted to share the good news that I can now put this behind me (although I still have the left breast reduction to look forward to). Wishing you all the very best in health and many thanks for your support.

Stellamaris, great news! no rads is excellent news and going back to work good also. Please take your time though and hope not full-time right away? How long until the reduction?

dorothy26, so glad you are hanging in with in BC/BC! Keep us posted.

Feeling better every day other than 2 coughing fits today that leave me exhausted. But not so tired as to no enjoy the fact that our broody hen has hatched 3/6 tiny chicks today! Maybe more on the way.

Wonderful news Stellamaris. So pleased for you :)))))))) I would concur to try and take it slow returning to work in whatever way seems doable for you. I was able to set a schedule to increase days, but some take part days or the odd day off. Even with non-physical work, it can be a tiring adjustment to be on the go or on your feet a lot.

I agree Dorothy that the spring warmth and sunshine is so healing.

Keep us posted on your broody hen Marianelizabeth! So cool. I get lovely tan speckled and baby blue local farm fresh eggs from friends.

MarianE - the reduction will be in 4-6 months (maybe I'll get a matched set for xmas. I will take it easy at work - going back full time, but I can take the odd day off if needed. How fun is that to have a broody hen! Keep well everyone Hugs

Hi Marian: The imaging doctor only suggested biopsy. I can ask (my family doctor?), but doubt she would order it. People I know have been going to China to do MRI.

Stellamaris: Glad you can put all this behind you after so many surgeries. No rads is such a relief! You made it sound so smooth, I shouldn't be too scared if it comes to it i guess. Going back to work full time could take some getting use to based on my past non-BC related experience. Take it easy!

    Enjoy the weather, ladies!

BeachLife, I know of a couple of people who had their MRI's done here~~very comprehensive and $2500.

Beautiful day today and we now have 5 chicks hatched so feeling like new life in our Vancouver backyard.

Well, remember when I said I was freaked out by the stories of fipples turning black & falling off? Ya. One of them is turning into jerky.

I am so angry with myself. I should have just gone & got my 3D tattoos. I waffled back & forth & finally decided I wanted a protrusion, for my husband, so they would feel more realistic. He said he didn't care & said I should just skip another procedure & get the tattoos but I convinced myself that he would NEVER tell me nipples were important to him because he is selfless. So I did it. 100% for him. Unnecessarily.

My surgeon said I was the perfect candidate. I have excellent skin, thick dermis. I had no strikes, no elevated risk factors. Even so, my worst fear is coming true. I just want her to take them both off, clean up the scars as best she can & wait patiently for them to heal so i can go get 3D tattoos... In ANOTHER 6 months. Over a bunch more unnecessary scar tissue. I feel SICK. This has been the longest 2 years of my life & I just want it to all be finished. I'm so done.

it:S ok fluffy, don't beat yourself up. You tried for altruistic reasons and it didn't work, so on to plan B. I have been wrestling with this too. I am leaning towards the 3D tatoo, because I am so tired of surgery and scars. I still have to have a reduction on the left in about 3 months. I think it is just horrendous that we have to go through so many surgical stages. I was very disappointed that the reduction on the left could not be done at the same time as the reconstruction. It just puts so much more stress on the patient, not to mention being DD on one side and B+ on the other lol. And the worry that there could be cancer in the 'good' breast that they won't find until the pathology on the reduction.... Sending you cyber hug and all the best.

hi everyone - Stellamaris, hoping your recovery continues to be coming along well and you are enjoying your trail hikes! Marianelizabeth, are you back to yoga yet? I have restarted Zumba, and will be putting my kayak in the lake soon.

fluffy - so sorry to hear of this setback :( with your poor fipples .... does 'jerky' mean it's struggling for survival, or no longer viable? please keep us posted with how it goes ((hugs))

fluffy, I too am sad for you and yet another wait and see then possible procedures. stellamaris I suspect that doing any further surgery when you were having a DIEP would have been in part due to incredible length of the DIEP and the effects of any more time under. Any basis for that?

Not back to anything but walking post hernia and I am still feeling the effects of it. Had trouble taking deep breaths with stabbing pain under my right ribs (of course the BC side) for 14 hours this weekend. It happened 10 days post op too and may just be a pocket of air. I see my physio Wed, PS Thursday and surgeon next week so hopefully by then all be well and I can get back to yoga and some hiking.

I hope everyone else is OK! Lovely spring weather!

phoebe and Marianelizabeth. - so glad to hear from you! I am doing great. Went back to work full time this week, and have been out hiking since 3 weeks post op. I really think we can get the kayak out Victoria day weekend. Am seeing the PS on Friday and hopefully get the all clear. Marian, sorry to hear you have been in pain. Sincerely hope that resolves itself quickly. I was on the table 10.5 hours, which is why the reduction could not be done. She had technical difficulties joining the vein, and almost gave up. She was ready to call for the tissue expander. So, although disappointed iam grateful that the DIEP finally took. I love the foob...it feels natural. Take care and enjoy this gorgeous weather!

    Hi Ossa,

Where did you get your nipple tattoo(s)? I am definitely leaning towards that after I get these expanders out in a few weeks! Very excited about that, see the PS tomorrow and just waiting for a date! I'm thinking of taking a trip to see Vinnie as I hear he's the man and it sounds like a good excuse for a fun trip :)

    Hi Wendy3,

Are you enjoying the dragon boating? I called but they were full for this year. I'm hoping to join the Port Moody group next year.

I am sure you will be happy with the 3D mine looks more real than my real one, lol

I am considering getting a touch up as it does fade a bit. Have to make a decision if I want to change my implants and get alloderm or stick with this so very imperfect little foob. Was not very comfortable wearing a bathingsuit on a resent trip, my foob has some bumps and lumps and this was quite noticeable in a bathingsuit (at least to me) So have some thinking to do and decisions to make Pros and cons ....

Just finished my first dragon boat race and am absolutely loving it. Together with love s of friendly breast cancer survivors. I figured it's as good as any place for me and being outside is awesome. I don't post very often but I follow along almost everyday. I hope you are all very well.

Wendy3 so glad you are doing the dragon boating! You are fit and this can only help you stay fitter and healthy as can be!

Ossa I get it with thinking about foobs. I saw my PS last week and we discussed my boob/foob. The augmented good side seems to have more capsular contraction that the BC one and now the implant is high and the boob sags quite noticeably. Do I care? Not that much but I do want a change from my Allergen 410's. A year on the wait list already and likely another 8 months +/-. Lennox and MacAdam (I think both) as of July 1 will not take immediate reconstruction patients until they clear their wait lists. Good news is that they have a new PS starting with them in September and she has been to the US for training. My PS thinks most of my woes are radiation related and probably true. Right shoulder rotator cuff latest along with the cording. But really, all is well and recovery from hernia surgery going well.

Wendy - so happy to hear you are enjoying the dragon boat racing!

Marian Elizabeth - hope I don't have to wait that long for my reduction :( I am very lopsided right now. Also, I am counting on the pathology on the left side to rule out any disease there, since nothing shoed up on mammo or mri. Glad to hear you are healing well :)

Hello ladies from Beijing! I finally logged in though it took a very long time from here, almost thought it was blocked just like Google n Facebook. Checked in this thread before my trip about a week ago, but was crazily busy writing up……

Marian: thanks for the info on MRI, I have had it done here in Beijing. It is a good test tool for soft tissues, as it turned out the lump is benign, probably due to inflammation. It proves my suspicion since it showed up after biopsy n it was on the biopsy track. I m glad I did not agree to another biopsy before I left as it may result in more issues. And I should not agree to more mammo in the future as it never worked for me due to dense breast. Hope one day we ll be treated the same as In the US, an MRI would be a natural step. Hope you have a smooth recovery!

Wendy, so glad for you! I want to join when they are open for regn again. I have trouble sending email via my Telus address but can receive mail, have to go through "My Telus.com" route to send, fortunately I brought my password. Hope your clinical trial goes well.

Stella: glad to know that you are doing so well! I know we all worry about our "good breast", I did too. But ultra-sound n MRI both proved that it is free of suspicion for me.

    Take care!

Wendy - you sound very happy and bubbly about the dragon boating. Wonderful to hear :)

Marianelizabeth - glad the hernia situation is resolving well finally -- a drag about the wait list though and hope it's not too long. Very interesting info re our Drs and their workloads - good news re a new recruit. I see her in June for a check-up and to plan for later fall stage 2 and what that may entail. My rad side is still kinda tight but no real issues 3 months after.

Ossa - I am fascinated by the 3D info, and after stage 2 think I will strongly consider that. Middle of my small crop circle side is very flat, so still think a little bump of an origami swan nip would help distract too.

Beachlife -- hellooooooo across the world, and a big YAY to benign. whew!!

Stellamaris - hope you've been getting some weekend hikes in! Do you have any idea when you find out time line to sculpt and shrink the good boob? That will give you peace of mind and a straighter walk!
