I don't really care for that second layer on the white ones either Wren, but I do usually wear the white under something, not on its own. I find that second layer can be seen as a line across the front, if you wear the cami on its own. I do have the red and a coral too. I buy the different colors when I see them on sale, because I can wear them with a jacket, or sweater, with just a little bit showing. I add a matching scarf, in the cooler weather.

I just bought 2 on ebay. $25 or best offer with free shipping. The seller was great. Accepted $20 ea when I sent note asking to have shipped them together.
Go tomorrow to get measured for first foobs if it doesn't snow too much in Baltimore!

Way to go Chloesmom! That's the way to do it, I hope you love them!
Good luck with the fitting, try on lots, really get a feel for what is right for you and then you can keep an eye out for bargains on sale. Let us know how it goes, hoping the snow holds off!

Tried on the essential light but it was a little big. They are ordering in a smaller one as well as an oval to see what drapes better. Felt great, just a little too much boob! Loved the feel of the Marlena bra, but it was cut a little too high in the front. The fitter is looking for a cool type with a lower cut.

What is typical insurance coverage for forms? My ins pays 80% but policy says "as medically necessary". Fitter said get silicone as Aetna typically pays for one set every 3 years. That seems crazy as I thought they only lasted 2 years. Thoughts?
I really wanted foam too and since they last 6 months thought 2 pair a year was reasonable.

Get the most expensive one from your insurance,,, which is probably the silicon. Find out more details from insurance. the Tru-life weighted forms, that Ariom loves,, are less expensive on Metromedical,, I think only $72 for a pair. WAY cheaper than the silicon, which on their website range from $125 - 172 EACH!!
http://www.metromedicalonline.com/trulife611.html#...
I would get the silicon from your insurance and then you can try to bill the other ones if you want,, like a swim form or the Tru-life,,, but get them to pay for the most expensive!!

I agree totally with Glennie about buying the most expensive through insurance. I am blown away by the difference in price between our 2 countries. A silicone form starts at $450.00 here, yep, the same one you buy, for a couple of hundred. As Glennie suggests, check your insurance, there are women here who get a huge allowance for forms and bras etc, I guess you just have to research what they will pay for. Then you can shop around for th best prices at sales for the other things you need. That metromedicalonliine price, for the Tru LIfe 611 weighted foam form is the best price I have been able to find anywhere.

Yes, some insurances are WAY better than others!!! Hopefully your fitter is insurance savvy, and will know to bill the most expensive ones.

Cholesmom, I had Blue Cross/Shield until Jan. 1 when I went on Medicare. BC/BS is very generious, 2 foobs per year and pretty much unlimited bras.. they said a reasonable amount and I was never refused. The camisoles and tee shirts with pockets were also considered bras so were covered. They paid all costs after my deductable was met. Medicare is not as generious but I think one foob every other year and 4-6 bras, havent got that in writing yet tho. Some of my silicones were $350.00 so was glad when ins. paid them. Unfortunately I am one in a million that the Amoena Valetta cami does not work for me, it gaps when I bend over and I bought two of them thinking they would be so great, love them but guess just not the right fit for me. I have never read where anyone else but me has had this problem with them. Be sure to check with your insurance first. Good luck

ndgirl, I was wondering if you could take a side seam in, on the bra section of the Valletta, to tighten it across your chest. Do you have the straps tightened all the way up to where the strap splits in 2? I am sure you've probably tried all these things and it is likely just the wrong cut for you. Amoena have brought out another few tops, with the bra inside which you can see on their website. The tunic and the casual tops, may be really comfortable for you, with no gaping and if your insurance will cover them, they would be good to have in your wardrobe.

Yes Ariom I have the straps all the way up, just think my chest is con caved enough in that area that the don't lay flat, I am bummed about it too, will take a look at the ones you suggest. Thanks

I have not posted here for a while and have been making do - I have an unusual situation with the loss of an implant leaving me with a 650cc implant on the right and nothing on the left. It has proven a bit difficult to find bras that work since the right side is basically large and immovable unlike a natural breast. I recently found a bra - the Anita Versailles - saw it first in the gift shop at the hospital where I have been going in Washington D.C. for a clinical trial. This bra is quite stretchy and light but seems to fit me very well, stay in place, and is not too hot for me here in Florida. I recently ordered another one in nude online fro PArk Mastectomy, as the one I originally purchased was black. My only complaint is a seam across the cup makes it less smooth under a thin t-shirt but I usually have to wear a camisole over all bras anyway to disguise the difference between sides. This bra is by far the most comfortable one I have tried - and that includes the two that I was fitted with. It works with the poofs from my mastectomy camisole and all of the different prostheses I have - love it!
pamfights - I often see deals for coobie from their site directly - recently saw one in the back of More magazine to save $20 on 3, the code is MORE20. Coobie's site is www.shopcoobie.com - I just tried that code and it worked - went from $66 for three bras to $46. I have found that I like the regular bra as opposed to the full coverage which surprised me because my implant is pretty large, and it also has hooks at the straps so that you can crisscross the straps in the back. I also found that Walmart has Genie bras plus their own knockoff that is comfortable, if less durable, the price is right.

ndgirl, I knew you'd have tried everything to make it fit, was just throwing that out there, just in case! I love the tunic in the new range and it sits higher on my chest:)
SpecialK have you seen the Amoena Microfiber Marlena 2167. It is not as pretty as the one you have, but is a similar look and coverage, but with no seam across the cup. I just googled the Anita, because I am not familiar with that brand. It is a really nice looking bra, but I can see how the seam would show through some fabrics. Depending on your size, there are still some of these Amoena Marlena bras available on sale, for $9.00 at metromedicalonline in chocolate and when you sign in, you'll be offered a 10% off coupon. I have pretty much started wearing this bra exclusively, when I wear a T shirt, because it has no seams or ridges. I ended up buying 4 of these, because they are so comfortable and smooth. Just a thought.

ariom - thanks! Just looked at the Marlena - it sure looks comfortable. When I looked at the chocolate one is the same price as the others in the Marlena which is $26.50, so maybe not on sale for that price anymore. At least I am not seeing them. I did find it in blush on ebay for $13.99. HerRoom has it for $26.50 but 20% off. Because I am in this situation temporarily (hopefully) I have not purchased too many bras, and have some others I can wear under T-shirts, although less comfortably.

Hi, still there in a few sizes. Go to metromedicalonline click on red "sale" on right hand side and then mastectomy when it drops down. there will be prosthesis pics on page but click on left hand amoena blowout and then look for the 2167 in the drop down list. I hope that isn't too confusing! LOL $9.00 is a great price, it is just the chocolate color that is left at that price now, but they had a pearl color too.

Ariom, what catalog number is the longer tunic? not sure if I have seen that.. very interested tho. Maybe I am just not seeing it.

the Marlena felt great just a little loose in the top of the cup for me as I'm either and A or AA. Wish I could wear it as it is both soft and supportive
Ndgirl. I am sorry that you can't wear the valettas. For me they feel great ( wear a 12 even though usually take an 8-10 in tops). The only issue for me is the cups are spaced too far apart of my size. I had to take in the net part above the band and take in the center too to pull the cups together. I keep checking ebay for more colors. maybe you could sell them there? Have 4 already coral, black, white and brown With 2 genie modesty shields in each cup in don't need a foob

ndgirl, it is just called the Amoena shirt 1020 and is a tunic with no sleeves and comes in black or a taupe color. It is a short version, of the maxi dress I love. It was from the 2014 range, but I guess it willbe available in some stores over there. I can still purchase from the mobile fitter, I found in Australia. I have bought a lot from her as she has great prices and she will mail me a to of stuff to try and supplies a post bag to return, what I don't want.

ok thanks, I really dont like to wear no sleeves anymore, hence the flabby arms. I do around home in the summer but not usually going out. Thank tho. Sounds like you have a great gal to do business with.

I am not big on sleeveless either, but they do a matching jacket/cardigan in the same modal fabric. I bought a few of those in different colors to put over the top, if I go out. Not great if it is really warm, but good, any other time.

ndgirl, My Medicare pays for 1 foob every 2 years and 2 bras every 6 months.

Ariom - I am not seeing it - I see Amoena Lily, Nadia, Jada, Shelby, Annabell and Tia for $9.59, but no Marlena.

Hi SpecialK, so sorry to confuse, try this link; to metromedicalonline it doesn't have the name Marlena just the number 2167in the drop down and the color is chocolate.

I like the Marlena too.

Ariom - I don't know how you got there, but I appreciate the link!

Chloesmom, I have the same problem with the Marlena, a little too big in the cup for me with the size A breast forms I like to wear. I have a pair of larger forms I sometimes use with it.
Ariom, I've been a fan of Anita bras. They don't all fit me well, however. I haven't tried the Versailles, but my favorite bra of all the mastectomy bras I've tried, for comfort, is the Anita Nastasja. Like the Versailles, unfortunately it has a seam across the cup, which is a disadvantage, as I like to wear fitted tees. With black or print tees it's okay, but otherwise, I don't like how it looks. Another bra I've loved from Anita is the Gloria. It's still listed on MetroMedical, but has been discontinued. It's seamless and has a really great shape for me. Like the Nastasja, it's a pretty minimal bra, not high under the arms or on my chest, two hooks in back. I'm really sad they discontinued it, though I have a few on hand. I wear a 34A, so quite a bit smaller than you, but you might want to check out some of the Anita bras. I think they're really nice. The also make a big line of non-mastectomy bras.

Hi Erica, I like your new piccie!!0 -
Hi Erica, love that picture! Thank you for the tip. I have been mostly sticking to the bras that I know, but should branch out and try some other brands that are not available here. I did try a couple of Royce from England, but I don't like them, the cups are too close together, or something, they look really weird! I will let you know if I find an Anita that suits. Thank you!
SpecialK, I am so glad that link worked for you, I am not very good on the computer, after all that messing you about, was there anything for you?

Erica wondered if you could share what size form you use? I tried the Apoema 2s triangle size 5 in the A cup Amoena which as mentioned was hollow in the top The fitter is getting in a 4 as the 5 were too perky. She is also going to try a4 oval so there would be a lower profile. Then we will try a bunch of shallow cup bras to get a good combo. I'm wondering if a 4 will be to small or if I should ask her to get in a 5 oval too. I'm too old for perky breasts. They don't stock a lot at that store and it is a hour drive to the place.
The other question is I thought you mentioned liking the Amoena Performance in another post. Not sure if it was you? If you are familiar with that bra do you know if the cup is real full like the Marlena? It looks like what I need for the summer when exercising
Looking on the various websites it's hard to find the ones that fit smaller chests. After I nursed my babies I was always looking for an A that was supportive enough for what were soggy fried eggs. Bras were either like handkerchiefs with no support or looked ,like smaller versions of my grandmas. I often wore a B that was too big in the cup just to get an underwire to hold things up.

Erica or anyone else who has tried the Anita or bras other than Amoena - I love the Valetta camisoles, and I have the Lara bras (which I find too stiff at the bottom but like the look) and the Marlena, which I find more comfortable on the bottom but does gap and comes up a little high for some of my clothing. Do any of the other bras you've tried have that comfortable band on the bottom similar to the Marlena or Valetta insert? And do they fit similar to the Amoenas? Thanks!
