I thought of that too Chloesmom, but then I remembered, how I was quite amazed that my final pathology said that my breast weighed 975gms, which is around 2lbs, so my remaining side must weigh the same as that, in the cami, then the silicone would probably weigh around the same, as the remaining side. I find it is all in the adjustment of the straps. I wear mine adjusted right to the split in the front strap, which hides the concave in my chest and supports my remaining side and the form without falling forward. Try tightening your straps up tight and see if that helps at all. I know we all have different shaped chests, so it may just be that anomaly.

I know at the time, I was making jokes, about having lost 2lbs overnight, but I wouldn't recommend it, as a means for weight loss! LOL

    Hi,

Can anyone recommend a strapless, pocketed bra? Just bought a sundress that I'd love to keep, but I'm afraid I'll never find the right bra. I definitely need to wear a breast form (Tru Life size 6) with the dress, but the bra needs to be strapless. Any recos?

    Thanks.

Hi fralaliso, I have an Amoena Barbara strapless bra which comes with clear straps and normal straps, so you can use it as a convertible bra. I have a bit of a concave area which makes it hard to get something without straps to sit right, on my chest. It is worth trying this style on, but if it were me, I would go to a fitter and see if there are other brands available and try them all to see what suits your chest, best.

I recall another member here, who wears the Genie type, boob tube, strapless, knit bra, in a strapless dress. I think a size 5 form may work in one of those. Anything larger could drag it down, but it's a very inexpensive option which may work for you.

Thanks Ariom. I tried the Genie type boob tube, but with my concave chest, it keeps slipping down. Your comment about the Amoena Barbara and the clear straps got me thinking. Maybe I can find some clear straps to hook onto the Genie boob tube. Ok, that's my next mission. Thank you!

Some Kohls stores carry the clear straps, too. :)  Good luck!

I was lamenting how all bras hurt now that I have truncal LE, and someone suggested trying those little cups that stick on..... with some kind of glue I guess? Or sticky tape? I haven't found any yet, but it sounds like a possible option if you are on the smaller side.

    Chloesmom, Ariom and Esklader,

I got the new Valettas and the colors are stunning!! I love them. I was pleasantly surprised that the 12 fits really as well as the 10! The 10 is snug but and that is great for an undergarment. It's all I knew until now. The 12's are a tiny bit looser but not a great amount. They look great, just a little more wiggle room under the arm and around the chest which is fine because they will look a little more "blousey" in the back instead of being tight against my back. They will be perfect worn alone this summer or with a light blouse over them. Thanks for the points tip too! Hmmm, yes the 10% discount seems to be the thing and the points were nowhere to be seen...

Ariom, you would laugh because I went to store the Valettas in a drawer that I have just for pocketed clothing and it is stuffed to the brim. I thought, I need a "foobmoire" like Ariom! I have to figure out a new way to store them. I am obsessed with having enough pocketed clothing for summer so I collected a bunch this winter. Last summer, right after my implant removal, I only had one tank top and one Valetta and that was not enough for summer. There were not a lot of my size available in colors I wanted (probably cause all the ladies bought them up during the winter and early spring like I did this year!) and I ended up washing these two cami's all summer. Plus, I didn't really understand the pocketed clothing scene either. Now I have to stop myself from ordering more! I'm glad to have others that understand my excitement because it is a bit crazy...

just in case any of the valetta fans are in Boston, the Dana farber "friends" store, as of 2 days ago anyway, had a huge rack (ha!) of them , including new colors, for 30% off! May be worth a call to see if he sale is still on if you're nearby. As a warning, tho, the girl working there asked me if I knew they were for people who'd had mastectomies. I kinda looked at her and pointed to my chemo curls and lymphedema sleeve and said yeah. but it kinda threw me a little.

That salesgirl is a bit behind the times floaton, I have lots of my "in tact" girlfriends, wearing Vallettas too and loving the freedom of them!

Bettyboobs, I had to laugh at your dilemma, you sound just like me, 2 years ago, when my collection started to grow out of control.LOL I discovered a hanging system for my Vallettas which is a series of rings on a bar, that holds 6 items on their hangers, but only takes up the hanging space of 1 item on the wardrobe rod. I have a couple of these, working for my Valletta storage, I will take a pic and show you. It is a bit hard to explain.

Have you seen any of the other Amoena clothing line? They do change it, each season, so it may be hard to find items. I recently found a great tunic top of theirs, with stud detailing and wide straps, at a local lingerie shop for 50% off in their clearance sale. I also have lots of their workout/yoga wear, tops with pockets, which I love to wear too. There is some of that on metromedicalonline too.

I know that some women find the Valletta expensive, I agree that it isn't a cheap item, unless on sale, but compared to some of the other tanks and camisoles I have purchased, there is no comparison, when it comes to quality and how well the Valletta washes and wears. I have mentioned before that I am still wearing my original black Valletta, which I bought just a few weeks after my surgery. It is the most worn item, because I use it as an everyday staple, in my wardrobe. I can't tell you how many times that top has been through the washing machine and it is only now, 2 years later, starting to show some wear.

That is awesome Ariom! I've seen it before but always a pleasure. I'm afraid I don't have quite that much storage but your lovely FoobMoire is great motivation to do something soon! I think I need to re-organize my closet...

Thank you Betty, Glennie Nomatterwhat and Crystalphm! I have to admit it has changed a little in the 2 years, I have had it. There are a few more foobs, yep, I know, how can one woman wear so many foobs! and there are a lot more color options in the Valletta. Must remember to put up photo of the cool hanging system, I found for the Vallettas.

This is the hanging system I have found for the Vallettas. They come in a set of 5 to a box. I found these in an Opp Shop, would you believe for 50c, but I believe they are still available. I love how they stack the tops and don't take up so much room on the clothing rod, in the wardrobe or closet.

I love those closet savers (I use them for all my tops).

This seems as good a place as any to say hello.  I was diagnosed a couple weeks ago and am having surgery on May 1.  Because there's some pre cancer spots besides the DCIS, plus family history, I'm having a BMX.  I was pretty sure from the beginning that I didn't want reconstruction (the thought was making me more depressed than anything).  I'm so glad I found this forum.  It has been so helpful.  I really want to thank all the wonderful women who have provided so much help, advice and information (and retail therapy).  It must have given me enough confidence that my bs didn't really question my decision (a little surprised oh and she moved on).  I am very grateful to you all.

Very cool, Ariom! I still haven't bought any Vallettas! I want to, I just really want to try one on first and haven't gone looking yet. Do you think Metromedical will get some more sizes in for the ones on sale, or do you think they are trying to completely get rid of those colors? I sure like the sale price, but what they have left is not my size.

Hello Flounder! Glad you found us, there is a lot of information here, if you read back a bit. If you still have questions, ask us anything, there isn't anything off limits here! LOL We are all Uni or BMX and we have worked our way through most of the issues that we have to face when new to this.

Mel, I doubt there will be any change to the sale stuff at metromedical, that Blowout Sale started a long time ago and they did have all sizes at the start. As far as I know, these sales are possibly yearly, but not sure. I do know that Amoena bring out new colors of the Valletta, but they don't keep producing them, I think Black and White are the regular colors and the others come and go, so the ones on sale were the colors that were finished. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Thanks, Ariom - that actually is very helpful...now I know not to hold out hope for them to replenish sizes in the sale items and it let's me know to buy the colors I like before they disappear. I did look at the sale ones a while ago, but I guess I wasn't ready to buy yet so it looks like I missed out on those. I think part of my hesitation is that I'm afraid they may not come up high enough on my right side where more tissue was taken so it is more concave. I was trying to figure out from your picture how high it is...I know you did mention the straps are good, so I that gives me hope that they will work.

Hi, Flounder! I'm glad you found the site - it definitely is a great source of info and friendship!

One of the great things about the Valettas in addition to comfort is that the straps adjust and you can make them high or low so the coverage is great.

They run small. I wear a 8-10 in my clothes and the 10 is very form fitting so I get that to wear under things. To wear alone I get a 12 and it drapes nicely over my waist. As I have a narrow frame I took a tuck in the bra part to pinch it together to bring the cups closer together and snug up the elastic. Can't wait to buy more !

Thanks for the info! Glad to read about another satisfied customer! My dresses are 10's and my bathing suit tops pre-surgery are 12's so I am planning on getting a 12.

I was panicking a little with the idea of facing a new body shape right in the beginning of summer.  I had to cancel a little vacation I had planned next month, so I decided to use that money and do a little shopping.  I had ordered a few of those Valetta camisoles, but I ordered in my normal size, so now I've ordered a few more one size up (thanks for the advice).  I also had ordered a mastectomy tank top from Land’s End (I already had bottoms) which already arrived and fits great.  I also got the one piece tugless tank with no bra (just lined) to wear if I want to go flat.  I don’t know that I will, but I figured it may come in handy.  Just having some of this stuff in and sorted before the operation has made me feel a lot calmer.

Yay for feeling calmer!!  Shopping is excellent therapy.  Flounder, I have the tugless tank too, and I love it. I also bought one of those sun protection shirts that are long sleeve. Wearing that over my tank,,, no one can tell,, and I'm only half flat!

Welcome, Flounder!  I'm not a shopper (I will wear the same bras with my one set of foobs until I have no choice but to replace them!) but am glad you found a way to calm your nerves a bit.  Sorry about your diagnosis; wishing you a smooth surgery & a quick recovery.
