Hi, justjean. i just wanted to say that arthritic areas light up too, at least that' what my docs tell me. My pet-scan after chemo lit up like crazy in specific areas, they said no cancer, but inflammation and arthritis light up too. It could be just schlerotic lesions, or bony islands, both benign conditions that do light up. Wow! You have really been clobbered by the return and return again of this beastly little bugger! Can you call the triage nurse at your treatment center and tell her about your mounting anxiety? Perhaps they can prescribe something to calm you?

Or, can you reach your primary care physician after hours to let them know of your anxiety about this? I am so sorry that you are worrying, I do know how hard it is not to, but I always tell my mother who is a great worrier that she is worrying about things that might not even be real, and if they were, she cant change most of it anyway. Do you have someone you can call, a best friend, to talk with; or go for a walk with? I am pretty sure it's probably just arthritis, but maybe you could call your onc tomorrow, and he can help you. hugs for you, okay?

I will call her office in the morning and ask for a few to just get me through the next few days until we have a better idea of what is going on.

Yes, clobbered is a good word for it. Over and over and over again.

Thanks for your words. They are greatly appreciated!

Hi Justjean, Kathec has given you some great advice and I totally agree with her, arthritis can and does light up like bone mets and so you can get a false positive. It's hard for the radiologist to tell the difference sometimes so you may need another scan or MRI to confirm his dx. Please try not to worry too much right now and do ask your doc for something to calm you down and get you through the next few days. Here's hoping it's just your arthritis showing on the scan.

    Love n hugs. Chrissy

Thanks, Chrissy - I have an appointment with her on Friday and I'm sure we'll figure this all out. I talked to my HR person today and she gently urged me to go for disability. Wow, that's a whole 'nother subject. But now she's planted this seed...

    This place is the greatest.

Hello, I have been having increasing right hip and knee pain for a few months now, it will radiate down my leg, and my lower back. It is worse at night when I am trying to sleep. In the last 2 weeks, my right leg has gotten weaker, and shakes sometimes when working. My regular check up with my surgeon resulted in an appt for a bone scan on Nov 25. I am so anxious, waiting for results. They were chatty in the room setting me up, then low talking and silence! makes me paranoid. anyone else have this type of pain and weakness?

Hi Sugarplum that sort of weakness can be caused by other things as well as BC but I do understand your concern. Once the scan starts, the nurses and techs always go quiet so please try not to read anything into that.

Here's hoping that your pain is something other than BC.

Thanks for replying, Chrissy! I find the waiting for test results so hard. I wish I could've looked at the scan, but they wouldn't let me of course, I hope I get results tomorrow.

Sugarplum waiting for test results can be really hard but trying to stay busy or socialising with friends so conversation flows are good ways for the time to pass.

I'm keeping everything crossed that your results are good.

Hi Soriya that little pea sized lump could just be a cyst so try not to let your imagination take you to the dark place of BC. I know its not an easy thing to do but please, do try.

Keeping everything crossed that the little lump is indeed nothing to be concerned about.

everything i read lead to cancer cus my lump is not movable. Done with ultrasound n they didn't tell me anything. I will find out on Monday or Tuesday. They didn't want to give me bad news because they don't want to ruin my holiday? I remember with my breast, radiogist tell me right a way, that he concerns cus i have mass on my lump n i need to do biopsy. This time at a different location, this radiogist didn't even see me.

Hope your results are good, bonnets! I'll say a prayer for you.

Unfortunately, I got my results today, I went to my family doc, she was out, but I saw a another doc, and I have a possible metastatic deposit on my L5, lumbar spine, that is new since my last bone scan in 2010. Feeling kind of shocked/numb right now. I knew something was up with my increased pain in my hip, and weakness in my leg.

Don't know what the next step is, will have to see my oncologist I guess

Oh Sugarplum, I'm so, so sorry to hear this. Hopefully your treatment will get you to NED quickly and keep you there for a long time. Please let me know what your treatment will be.

Just you let you know that there is a bone mets thread here as well as a Canadian girls thread if you want to explore them.

I'm sorry to hear that news Sugarplum, hoping you will have smooth treatment and go into NED quickly. I had my bone scan done today and I could see the screen a bit during certain parts, I didn't notice any "white spots" but is it even possible for an untrained eye to see anything during the scan? Would we be able to notice anything?

Hi, stephaniegee. i think many things make our scans light up, I swear mine was so lit up crazy. but they say many other things light it up, inflammation o all kinds, but THEY swear it is not cancer! So i guess i have to believe them! Hope it is all good news for you, and i am sorry you and soriya are worrying. I will tell you, for me anyway, that the first year, year and a half after being diagnosed, is when the worry runs highest. You will reach a calmer place soon, and your doctors are watching out for you. I know i drove my docs nuts with my worries.

Sugarplum, I am so sorry to hear of your progression, at least bone mets are better than vital organs, but they have many things in their arsenal to help you.

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone. I couldn't view my bone scan screen, and they wouldn't show me, Stephaniegee, :(

I have to get blood tests done Monday, and I am seeing my cancer surgeon on Monday also. there seems to be a lot of different treatments. Wondering if anyone had to get an MRI or bone biopsy done to confirm?

Sugarplum, it was very obvious what mine was from both my bone scan and CT. I never had an MRI so can't comment on that.

Good luck with your blood test and your visit to the Surgeon. You will find there are numerous treatments available but we usually start off with the easier ones and keep chemo for later.

I have a pain under my right breast that is concerning me but i will have answers soon enough - scan on Wednesday. I keep telling my self that I had a mx, radiation, diep recon and that generates a lot of scar tissue which can hurt. It's not actually a lump i have but pain right at the bottom on my breast where it connects with the ribs. Doesn't hurt all the time but isn't getting better and maybe a little worse...so on and off. It doesn't hurt to touch it just hurts when I'm doing nothing or something....it's weird. I have a dinner planned with a friend that night so it will be a good distraction. My mom and dad come down the next day for a long weekend for an early xmas. A clean scan would be the best gift I could get.

Hi Jenjen, sorry for your pain. What you describe could well be from scar tissue but I'm glad you are getting a scan to give you a more definitive answer. Waiting for scans and then for results can sure be a bit of a pain so I'm glad you're going out for dinner with a friend and then the day after, spending time with your Mom and Dad. Both are really good distractions.

Keeping my fingers crossed that all will be well for you. Please let us know the outcome.

I got my bone scan results today and the secretary told me that my dr said it was fine! (Yahoo) But that it did show I had fractured my ribs (where i had pain) but it was healing. She told me it was most probably from a cough or something I did to fracture but I don't remember doing anything. It makes me a touch nervous because I know bone mets can cause bones to fracture easily but if my scan didn't show any mets, I shouldn't have anything to worry about, right?
