We sure are all different. I gained a lot of weight on exemestane...after losing a whole lot on WW the year before diagnosis. Hoping that you don't gain any at all songbird..hope you are lucky like Lago!

Agree with everything bc101 said...I would switch MO's if mine talked to me like that. And I had terrible joint pain and stiffness on Arimidex, felt like I was 90.. Switched to Aromasin and it all went away. We all react differently. I would try another, to see if you can get the benefits without the worst of the SE's. I think they all have some. Like RMlulu, I've lost my thick hair on Aromasin and also can see my scalp iin spots. Very disheartening after getting it back after chemo..But if I have to choose feeling like I'm 90 or looking like I am, I'll choose the latter.

Yikes! Hair!  I have a cowlick in back, where, unless I keep right on top of my dyed brown hair, the white roots make it look as though I have a bald spot.  My fear is that I'll have a real one if I keep up with this drug.  When I was on arimidex, I lost hair for a few months, then went back to normal. Maybe I had a little less hair, but it remained pretty much status quo.  Now,  on exemestane, there is a wad of hair in the shower drain whenever I wash my hair (every two or three days).  Have any of you found that your exemestane and/or arimidex hair loss stopped after a few months?  I had a receding hairline before all this started and, Lago,I know you've mentioned the same. and maybe some of the rest of you?  I'm wondering whether those of us with similar history are more subject to hair loss?  Anyopne considering switching back to arimidex?

BrooksideVT I do think my hair has receded a bit more but still doing fine. I even asked my hair dresser if he thinks my hair has thinned and he said no. I see more hair in the drain but my part is still very tight. It may be a bit more but I don't think its excessive. I'm watching it though. As you know I am using women's Minoxidil but I was using that before diagnosis to keep my hair line from receding too much.

and Wavewhisperer I'm with you. I rather have less hair than deal with the depression, back/neck/shoulder pain and sleep issues on Anastrozole. That was not living!

Hi April485 I hope you shift that weight soon, and thank you for your best wishes that I don't gain weight. Hopefully I will be like Lago:)

My neighbor is on holiday. We are painting her house while she is away - no, just magnolia!(Skybluepink with purple spots would be cool though) It will be a surprise for her when she gets back from Italy. It's really hard work cos its been pebbledashed, so you layer the paint on with a big brush and then wiggle it about ha ha! Quite a messy job - lots of cream colored creepy crawlies wandering about now too!

weathers on the turn here in the south of England, so better get it finished!

    Have a lovely day gals:)

Songbird, forgot that you were from UK. Just got back from 2-week holiday there. Had packed for cold and rainy weather like we had there last September, but this year it was sunny and i the 80s!! I had to buy some lighter tops. Beautiful country. Spent 3 days in the Cotswalds, one night in Bray and the rest in London. Returned to find it cooler in SC than London!

I went to London in January of '95 (wow, the years do fly by!). As you can imagine it was cold, grey and rainy. Would love to see it during the summer.

Glad you had a lovely time Wavewhisperer!

Yes it has been what we call an Indian Summer. You got home just in time cos that all changed during the night and it is now gale force winds with driving rain. So cold! Can't paint today(neck and shoulders are thanking me!). Neighbor came home and was so happy she cried. She's in her 70's and has had more than her fair share of burdens, she's so lovely. Would have been even better if we could have finished the job, but we will as soon as weather allows:)

UK today is more like you remember bc101. If you want a landscape that is green and grey and rains a lot you go to Cornwall, "the West country" we call it. Having said that, it is a truly beautiful place and the home of Fistral beach in Newquay where you get good waves for surfing.

    have a great day gals!

Hi Walley! Here is to hoping that you continue feeling good on this drug...wish it was true for me, but alas, it is not. I am seeing my MO on 11/6 and will decide where I go from here.  Do I stay the course and suffer? Do I try another AI (when we have heard that the easiest is exemestane out of the three) or do I stop taking anything and take my chances. This all remains a mystery to me right now. I have had a rough few weeks with the weather change. My joints are screaming and my left foot pain is off the charts, but I am still hanging in there until I see her...we shall see.

Hi Ray I've been on aromasin for about 7 months now and haven't had any joint discomfort or excessive hot flashes. The only side effect I'm experiencing is constipation. have to take a laxative every few days . I tried tomoxifin and letrizol and ended up  with crippling migraines hence the change to aromasin.  good luck to you  sandi

Been on Arimidex for about two months. Doctor was concerned about swelling in my ankles and hands since I have a history of blood clots. The bone and back pain has been intolerable. He wrote me a prescription for Aromasin today. He said that many patients tolerate it better. I guess I'll find out soon. I am going to give myself a bit of a break before starting, maybe a couple of days. Thanks for all the input, ladies!! Bless us all.

It's my first day changing to Aromasin.  I've been on Tamoxifen for nearly 3 years, with 3 monthly Lucerin shots.

Today I had my first Zoladex injection and will get them 4 weekly + switched to Aromasin.  I'm crossing my fingers the side effects are kind.

With Taxmox & Lucerin I already have stiff joints, terrible hot flashes, thinning hair, weight gain ... all at age 43!

Maybe this new cocktail will be better for me.

A leading Oncologist told me You need to wait a couple of weeks at least (in my case he said 2 months) when changing hormone affecting meds, not a couple of days, before taking the new ones or the risk of side effects is significantly higher.

Has anyone had elevated liver enzymes on Aromasin?

Sicilian no more back pain for me on Exemestane (generic Aromasin). I was off for 5 weeks before the switch.

Lily55 OMG yes. Just got labs back 2 weeks ago. I see my MO next week and will discuss. I thought it was my diuretic but I take such a small amount I couldn't understand why all of a sudden. I see my primary the following week.

Hello all... I just started hormone therapy with eligard inj last week, does anyone know when to start aromasin. I have received recommendations from 2 MOs. one recommends to start after 7 days the other after 21.  Any experience or recommendations?

My MO said 1 month from final chemo (I didn't do radiation). My NP said that if I had done radiation it would have been right after I ended radiation, about 5 weeks. I stared 5 weeks after final chemo.

I stopped tamoxifen and took aromasin the next day, as my doc said to do. Having read some of the above, I am a bit worried that I should have been advised to take a break before switching! Something to raise at the next appointment.

I've been on it for about six weeks and now have a side effect of carpal tunnel syndrome in my left hand. It really hurts at night :(

Found some exercises that help though.

    Keep well everyone

song bird, I have a tad of carpel tunnel but not from aromasin.  I find it gets bad when I use my laptop or a computer that is not set up correctly......doc gave me a wrist brace to wear, you can find them in most drugstores (or at least in NJ)

I wear the wrist brace at night, at times if it is really bothering me, I will wear during the day but find it helps a lot!

Lily absolutely. Let me know  if I don't check in. My appointment is this Wednesday morning. When do you see your MO or MD? I fear my MO is going to blame it on the diuretic. Such a small amount that I've been taking for a while though.

I will try taking a little more time off in between, then. Like we haven't been through enough, right? We have to deal with this crap.
