Juli, what a fabulous picture, and what a great occasion! Many thanks for posting!
Did you know we're planning to feature members' photos and quotes in the upcoming BCO fundraising event Rock the Ribbon? Here's more information about the event and who to contact if you're willing to let us use your images and words. We'd love to hear from members of the Chemo in Sept 08 group.

Hi there, not a "member of chemo in 08" but I spent 6 months of 08 having CMF.
5 years, no recurrence, on arimidex, as of December 11th, 2013.

Thanks for chiming in, Runnermom. We share the same diagnosis. Thanks for the hope. I put my diagnosis and treatment into PREDICT. There is really a lot of reason to be hopeful.0 -

People have asked me how I remained positive through my fight with Breast Cancer. Here are some tipskis. I am a four year survivor.
1. Have your family and friends around you for support.
2. After I cried, I decided I was going to do this my way. Wearing heels and lipstick. And sequins and pink.
3. Don't listen to other people. Listen to your doctors.
4, I always go up, got dressed and looked presentable. I didn't want my son seeing a "sick" and " sad" mommy. It also made feel better to be myself, because that's who I am.
5. Took me awhile to not worry about my job. My health comes first.
6. Continue your normal activities, whatever they may be. Mine was the gym. Thank God for it.
7. Buy a sweet hoodie to wear after the surgeries. Mine was pink.
8. Make plans because you need distractions. I took my son to see Disney on Ice the night I decided to have both breasts removed. The lights went down, I started to cry. No one saw me. Little Mermaid helped. Then I was okay.
9. Let people help you.
10. Bring your makeup bag to the hospital to when the male nurse comes in he says, "Damn girl, you look hot!" LOL this happened.
Don't forget to LAUGH LOVE AND LIVE 💋 Be strong girls!0 -
Foxy, that's fantastic advice. I followed a lot of it too. Although I don't have kids I wanted my boyfriend not to feel like our life was over. We needed to stay strong for each other - which we did most, but not all, days on this path. It's been 19 months and 7 surgeries.0 -
I count my "cancerversary" as the date of my mx. November will be my 22nd year from dx/mx....no recurrances.0 -
Nihahi,
What a nice posting that is so nice to hear...:)0 -
Thanks sherry....I prefer to start the count from the day of being cancer free, not the day I learned I had cancer.0 -
Thank you all for the smiles this thread always inspires - and the hope and encouragement you're sharing with everyone!

Nihahi,
I agree I to go by the the date I became cancer free ...0 -
I have several anniversaries. This past January was my five year anniversary of my mastectomy and tomorrow is the five year anniversary of my final radiation treatment. No treatment in the past five years except Tamoxifen and Zometa/Xgeva. I was diagnosed at stage 4 as I had a single met to sternum. The first year I had chemo, sternum resection and radiation. Best wishes to all you women (and men).0 -
