Hi all.
Sorry you're still in pain Alyson as well as everything else that's going on.
I could have mad cow too Fizzdon! Was in the uk in the early 90's...
I wasn't offered genetic testing either, so my well-endowed daughter should prob be tested when she's in her 20's too.
Just got back from a sweet Louise meeting. Nice to meet locals in the same boat as me...I also had an onc appt & my dosage of xeloda has been upped- hopefully my hands & feet can cope. Not to mention my fatigue
If it works out I'd be keen on a meet-up too (if it fits in with work & appts)
Have a good afternoon

I hope things are improving for you Alyson, and that everyone else is doing well.
#5 radiotherapy today. They removed the metipel film yesterday because I had a reaction to it.
I worry about my 18 year old daughter with the lobular. There is no breast cancer (that we are aware of) in my family history, both of my sisters and I have dense, fibro tissue.
I would love to catch up with you all if we can get a mutual day/time sorted out.

Hi Kt. Was the blood sample you had taken for the Artemin Biomarker Study? I participated in that one for Reuben Broom. Haven't heard of any updates. Cheers, Anne.
0 -
Yes, Twofer!
I see Reuben as well & that was the study
I guess it takes a while to gather meaningful data. I read it can possibly provide info re prognosis & be used for early detection? Something like that....
Hope you are well
kt

I gave blood for that study as well. From what I understand I don't have enough Stage 4 blood samples, although that may have changed.
Chemo 71 today, all went well. Im aboutto dash into work. Have a great day everyone.

Hi ladies, I hope you are all doing well. Happy Friday to you all, there will be lots of cool old cars travelling down the Southern Motorway tonight on their way to Beach Hop in Whangamata. Hope the weather stays well for the weekend. Have a nice, restful and relaxing weekend everyone. Donna xxxxx

Hi Fizzdon. Do you get to see the cars?
It's been a bit quiet here. I've been busy with work, my onc appt & taking my f-i-l to his hospital appt.
Next week I have a CT scan.
I'm relaxing at the mo- will have to find the energy to feed alpacas & make dinner soon....
Have a great weekend everyone

Lost post. Never mind.
Have been busy with MiL who has been in hospital. Now she needs to go into rest home care. Hopefully we can find one for her early next week.
Next Monday have injection into spine for the pain so hope this works.
Hope you all have a good weekend.

Good luck Alyson!

This bloody disease. A young kiwi friend who lives in Canada has just found her cancer has progressed. Her stats are virtually the same as mine. I got a clearance and she is back on chemo.
Have spent the morning looking at rest homes for MiL. DH and SiL just have to make a discussion.
Have a great weekend.
0 -
Alyson-sorry about your friend. Not fair it never is...
I hope your m-i-l settles into the rest home ok & that you have found a nice one. I can imagine it's not an easy time for any of you.
An injection in your spine doesn't sound like fun! But if it helps with the pain it's got to be good. (Mind you I had an epidural with my first child & that was ok)
We had a look at a section today (2 1/2 acres) trying to get motivated to keep moving & get this place onthe market! Sometimes it seems like to much effort, but I'm really ready for a new adventure... Tomorrow we might head to the big smoke, I feel like a Japanese lunch box for lunch & a change of scene
I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend

Have you checked out the info below our posts? Some seem to have been expanded out with brand names etc - lots more info! (See Shazza's for example) Is that because you've updated it? I'm quite happy with mine the way it is, but just noticed some peoples have all the extra info....
Looks like I'm not going to get my lunchbox today No one else keen to go, I'm a bit bored.....
Such is life

KT they have changed the way your profile, diagnosis is set up. I went in for a look most things were shown as private when I made them public it all was far to long. Guess I have had far too much Cancer stuff go on. I've gone back in and reduced it by about half by hiding my surgeries but it still seems too much so i might hide some of my older treatments .
I'm off to brunch with the girls. Hope everyone has a great rest of the weekend.

Good for you Fizzdon, stick to your guns, its yr life they tampering with, the young lady that was on one of those programmes, rapid response, it took 6years for them to believe her as she was young, kept saying it was nothing and she is now terminal and just about to the end of her days. She rang the ambulance as she could not hack her back pain, needed some more stronger meds, its in her spine. poor girl. So you keep pressing them for what you need. My GRANDMA used to say, NOTHING IS gained from a shut trap. hugs

Haha thanks midnight and I did see that program it was very sad. I learned from the hell we went through with my son that the medical profession aren't perfect. In fact a lot of the time they are just guessing. For example why would my Oncologist want me to go on Tamoxifen without trying another AI. She knows I have a thickening of my uterus and blood clots run in my family. She should also know that AI's are better for Lobular. So I will be quizzing her again at our next meeting after my drug holiday. I am now wondering if it costs the Government less to prescribe Tamoxifen rather than an AI??? Anyway enough of that. This morning when I got up it was cold so I put on jeans and a jumper now the sun is shining and it's a gorgeous day. I hope your injection works Alyson and I am sorry about your friend in Canada. Where are you moving to kt1966,?we had 3 acres at our last place and it is nice and manageable. Have a nice lunch Shazza. I hope we win the cricket tonight or there will be a lot of grumpy people around tomorrow. Take care everyone, Donna xxxxx

Hi midnight, good to see you back here! I saw the program too. Makes you think...definitely need to be your own advocate.
I hope you get things sorted with your onc Fizzdon, & come up with a plan that suits.
We went & had another look at the section today- took my parents to see it too, and went for a drink at the local pub afterwards. I really like the idea of moving there- but we have to get moving here first. I need some inspiration to get cracking & finish de cluttering & doing the touch ups that need doing...
(I don't want to have animals this time, so it would mean lots of planting trees & lots of mowing)
Hope your brunch was good Shazza, sounds nice
Take care all

Hi kt, you will be busy with shifting soon. talking about animals, we have had 4 baby creas, alpacas, not sure on how that spelt. they cute. and kids, triplets and two lots of twins. quite productive for off springs this year. and cause, saphire the baby mini horse, she was born in Dec 14. she getting big, little .girl.
Yes i have been Hospital with cellulitis in the breast, and being diabetic, i had to have very potent antis, by ivs but they were concerned that some breast cancers present themselves that way and i was showing signs that itwas either a large infection or that, i was in for about six days and over weekend. and two weeks ago fell over rushing to loo in the night andbroke my ring finger on right hand, in the knuckle area, going to a hand therpist for physio on the 13th April, unless i get on cancellation list so finger dont end up dis -functional.
Hope every one ok. hugs Annette

I'm glad you're over the cellulitis midnight. Not much fun I'm sure. Wow you have been in the wars, breaking your finger too! I hope that comes right soon too.
Lovely to have so many baby animals They are so cute when they're young. Lots of work for you looking after so many animals. You'll have to post some pics so we can see
I love them too, but am ready to reduce so we can go away a bit more without worrying about them...that's the aim. It's going to take a while tho. Especially since I seem to be tired all the time, so it's hard to get on with stuff.
Hope everyone's had a good star to the week. Not long till Easter now (& the end of daylight savings)

Gee Annette - you have been through the mill. Hope you get physical therapy soon. And glad your cellulitus is over with. My husband was in hospital over Christmas with it in his legs. It's painful and not fun at all.
We're almost neighbours - I live in Otaki (for another few days, then shift to TeHoro). I need to come up to Palmy soon; may hit you up to stop by and take pics of your baby animals! They sound like great fun!
KT - hope you get your plans sorted soon. I hear you on tired all the time.
I'm stuck in Christchurch for another day. I have had probably 25 business trips here in the past 3 years. And I think maybe there have been one or two where I didn't end up changing my flight reservations. I was presenting evidence at a Council hearing, and the hearing went two very long days (was planned for about 6 hours originally). Exhausting. Fly home tomorrow afternoon after I take care of some appointments in the morning down here. Then I pick up a truck on Thursday afternoon to shift boxes to the new place and the movers come on Tuesday after Easter. And I have packed like 3 boxes so far. My husband has the kitchen almost packed. I HATE moving.
Wishing everyone a great Easter holiday.

I hear you on moving, Terre! I'm dreading it- we have sooo much stuff. Will have to ruthless & pare it down somehow.... It sounds like you've been very busy- I hope you get to relax a bit soon!
I had my CT scan today, it was amazingly quick once I got in. A new machine I think, I've never had such a quick scan.
Hi everyone else. One more day, then we get a long weekend

My long weekend starts tonight and not a moment too soon started feeling exhausted again with the chemo. A few days off should recharge my batteries.
KT good luck with your scan results.
On Monday I went to a get together of a few members of The Metavivors facebook group I belong to. It was nice to meet some Stage 4 people in real life. Do you know about the group KT & Terre. Sweet Louise put me on to them. There are quite a few members through out the country.
I had clinic today. Looks like there's a new rotation of residents starting but I got through nice and quick so no complaints.
Hope everyone has a fabulous Easter Break. I'm spending mine doing nothing

Hi all middle of the night and I am awake having cup of tea.
Spent yesterday moving MiL into a rest have. She has been quite ill with chest infection and is having memory problems. We are so eased that she is now just up the road from us. SIL was too busy to do anything yesterday.!! I know she is a lawyer but she will tell everyone how much work it has been getting her mother into the rest home. Grr.
I am exhaust end the pain in back is terrible and fibro is bad. Not sure that the injection into spine has worked.
I think things are going to get interesting as we clean out MiLa house over the weekend. DH took a course of things last night saying they were his and his sister could jump. Goodness knows what we are going to do with everything. Mil had been going on about all her stuff and oh my gosh after having to find things for her yesterday I can tell you she has loads of junk but SiL can deal with that. Also there are all sorts of things that no one wants. Such as very pretty China etc which I don't want as I have two China cabinets full already. Oh gosh there is so much.
Sorry to go on.
Hugs to all.

Sounds like everyone has been busy. Sorry about your pain Alyson, hopefully there's something that can make you more comfortable.
I have had radiotherapy for the 12th time. Only 13 more to go. As I was allergic to the mepetil film and I am pleased to say that my skin in so far looking pretty good. I am excited to have the next 4 days off, not to mention the start of the school holidays, so no more dragging my son out of bed in the mornings before we leave for rads.
I intend doing as little as possible over the break - hopefully the Easter Bunny doesn't visit me, I need to get rid of a few more chemo kilos!

Hi everyone, I hope you are all feeling good and will all enjoy a lovely restful Easter? That's such a shame that you were allergic to Mepitel film Kiwi, but at least your skin is holding out okay. I hope that injection starts working soon Alyson. Well nothing really to add, I'm feeling really good having this drug holiday, feel like my old self again haha. I'm going to a wedding on Saturday, don't know the people but I'm sure I will cry as I always do at weddings. Am going to spend the weekend in my happy place, sewing and hopefully cooking for my kids. Love, peace and good health to you all this Easter, Donna xxx

Nearly halfway Kiwi . I'm glad your skin is holding up. It will be really nice to chill out for a few days. Can't believe its school hols already!
Alyson, you've had a stressful time lately, with your pain & your m-i-l. I hope she settles in soon and that injection starts to work better....hopefully you can get some rest today & a better nights sleep tonight!
Shazza, enjoy your long weekend Metavivor was mentioned at my last Sweet Louise get together, but I'm not on Facebook & don't really want to be, otherwise it would be nice to meet others...
I had a busy day at work & on the road. I'm glad I don't have to work till Tuesday now
Happy Easter everyone

Hi ladies - I hope you are all having a wonderful relaxing Easter. I have been that's for sure and yes glad it's school holidays too. Have had a big clean-out in the linen cupboard and a storage area too - so good to get rid of excess junk not needed around the house any more. Going to drop it off to the Op shop on Tuesday when it opens.
It has been good to read back over all your news on here as its been a few weeks since I last checked. Alyson that was great news re your back not being Mets and I hope the injection is starting to work now. It can take a little while I think.
Good that you are still stable too Shazzakelly - and still doing well on the taxol infusions.
Kt - I hope you get your place on the market soon. I know exactly how you feel - I am going to put my house on the market in Spring this year after 19 years in it! Am just going to keep sorting/cleaning out stuff over winter and organise those jobs that need repairs and maintenance etc. I have loved the place but it's time for a change and its a big place which we don't really need any more.
Donna - I think an MRI is about $1,500 if you do it privately. I'm on tamoxifen - just over a year now. Weight gain - YES. Not really any other side effects though. If you can get your blood pressure down a bit - maybe they will consider the AIs? Are you on pills for your BP? Hate to say it but losing weight, exercise, giving up coffee and alcohol are all good for lowering blood pressure.
Nikki - good luck with the rest of your radiation treatment. You have certainly had a bad time of it all. Plan something nice for yourself once it's all finished.
Terre we will have to catch up soon. I have been doing ambulance shifts out of Levin and Feilding lately. I hate having to drive up and back for those so I'm going to look for a place to stay in Levin. I'll be getting stuck in to all the study I still have to do over the next couple weeks. And Midnight that isn't too far away from you too in Palmie. I'm getting to know the ambulance entrance into ED at Palmie hospital very well and where some of the wards are - mainly Coronary Care Unit.
Enjoy the rest of the Easter break everyone.
Love to all x

Hi all,
Kruise - definitely need to catch up. My client in Petone is kicking off the next phase of the project on Thursday, so I'll be up that way more often too. And I mostly know the oncology day ward at Palmy Hospital..and radiation..and CT scan...and blood draw place.
We're moving to Te Horo beach tomorrow. We've done some cleaning/clearing, but have basically run out of time, so we're just moving stuff at this point. The movers arrive tomorrow. We were hoping to shift some stuff today, but the owner scheduled a repair man for today. We agreed, because he said he was going to work on the roof at the back of the house. Imagine our surprise when he arrived with a trailer load of lumber! He's redoing the front deck and stairs. So now, we can't even get to our car. If we want to shift something to the car, we have to either go around the house and down the rather steep bank on the lawn, or down the very narrow and steep basement stairs, then up a 40 degree incline to where the car is. And by the time they finish, the traffic will be horrific, so basically a lost opportunity unless we go rather late tonight.
Do I sound grumpy and whiny? It's because I am grumpy and whiny! Then the selling real estate agent calls and says he's giving us "plenty of notice to clean the place up" because he's bringing people through tomorrow at 2 pm. My husband told him "no". No, no and no. The repair man has also announced that we need to be here at 8 am on Wednesday to give him access to the house for interior painting! I'm taking Wednesday off work to clean and we had arrangements to pick up a carpet cleaner Wed morning. So it looks like I'll be on annual leave again on Friday, trying to get out of this place.
Sorry for the huge rant; just needed someplace to vent. No replies or sympathy expected, just needed someone to listen (so to speak). The good news is that this is REALLY inspiring me to save money so we can get into our own place in the spring. Kruise - we may have to talk!
Hope everyone is having a good Easter break and happy for all the good stability news!
Hugs to all,
Terre

Hi all
Our Easter has been shattered. DH's cousin is the first road fatality of the holidays. It was her mother who died two weeks ago. Yes I know she is a cousin once removed but the cousins were brought up together as my MIL and her SiL where both widowed early and DH and his siblings regard their cousins as older sisters. Jacque was so looking forward to a holiday as she had been Joyce's main care giver. The girls were in one car and the boys in the following vehicle. So her husband and son saw it happen.
We are also trying to move MiL's stuff out of her house. I can't believe how much there is. And it is being complicated by DH's brother who lives in Spain and wants to keep everything. It's not much to store he says. Grrrrr. He is so unrealistic.
My back unfortunately is a real problem. So many discs have collapsed and vertebrae not good. Never mind shouldn't complain too much.
DD is back so must get moving.

Oh Alyson. I am beyond sorry. Please accept my deepest condolences. You have every right to complain, so please don't apologise!
Sending you hugs and good thoughts.

wow, it sounds like everyone has been pretty busy. Glad you're having some down time Kruise.
Alyson, so sorry about your dh's cousin You've certainly had a tough run lately- I hope things improve soon.
Terre you've been flat out too! Why can't they wait till you've moved out to do their renovations- it's really not fair doing it now!
I was feeling grumpy too because we're not making fast enough headway towards getting on the market! Small stuff really. I just hate that limbo state where you're not sure what the next move will be.
Back to work tomorrow, time to stop doing chores so I have some energy tomorrow
I hope everyone has managed to have some good times over Easter! I managed to get out for lunch a couple of times, so I can't complain.
Take care
