Haha kt1966 - keeping your sisters gift, that's the sort of thing I'd do. Good on you - you deserve a treat Hope you aren't feeling to bad kiwimum and your family spoil you. Good luck with your results Shazza, Have you all noticed the change in the weather, thank goodness. Hopefully I might start getting some sleep now. Regards to all, Donna xxx

I would keep it too KT. I hope that everyone is doing well. I slept all night last night!!!! My sister brought me a gel pillow which is supposed to keep you cool and help with the hot flushes (which were horrendous at night), and yay it seemed to work. I was sleeping with a bath mat on my pillow. Sweat seems to glide off a bald head!
I had my Oncology appointment with Rosalie yesterday to talk about the hormone therapy. She said that she'd like to start me on Zoladex and Aromasin instead of tamoxifen and see how I go. If the SE's are unbearable then change down to tamoxifen. She said that the histology of my BC, the heavy lymph node involvement and tumour size warranted the top shelf option first. She said that there was no urgent hurry to start so I am tempted to get radiotherapy over before starting it. I am over feeling like crap. I want to start walking miles again and feel like myself for a little while.
I know some of you have been on this stuff - can you please tell me if it affected you and in what way.

Sending big hugs Kiwi66.
Hope all you girls having treatment and tests go well. I had my appoinent with my BS on Monday and it went well. Mammo etc was fine. Erica has ordered the MRI on my back as she said as soon as she knew there was something not right she is morally obliged to check it out. Was growled at for not letting her know earlier as she could have got the MRI straight away. Anyway it's on Thursday.
I am due for funding for my foob if I can ever get through to the Health Line to get my subsidy number. I have to get it because the prosthesis place are not able to get it now. Silly privacy rules.
Had better get moving as I have to go and look at a rest home as my mother in law needs more care. It's not easy.
Hugs to all.

Alyson - sorry about your MIL; so hard.
Kiwi66 - how many radiation treatments are you scheduled for?
It's a beautiful day in Sunny Otaki today. I'm working from home and on annual leave (mixing it up a bit). Going to meet some people about buying a house from them, have a property inspection from the rental property manager this afternoon (between 12 and 4 - couldn't they do better than that?), and have an offer of free iris bulbs to pick up not far from home (they'll go in at the new house). We love the house we're in, but it's being sold along with the surrounding 12 ha, and it's beyond our price range. We've only been here six months and had been told it was a long term rental. Oh well. So, we're trying to buy. I have an appointment with a mortgage person tomorrow. Hoping to buy something decent but cheap enough that we can pay it off pretty quickly. It's actually possible to do this in Otaki.
Hope everyone is doing well.
Hugs to all,
Terre

Good morning
Alyson, I'm glad you saw Erica (is that Whineray Kelly? I saw her a couple of times & she's lovely) and that your MRI is soon. Great everything else is ok. I hope you find a nice place for your m-i-l easily.
Kiwi, I wasn't on aromasin, but was on zoladex & letrozole- similar I guess. I didn't find the se's bad. Hope it treats you well. Wow you were having major hot flushes- fantastic to have something that helps you sleep.
Thanks Fizzdon & Kiwi! I don't feel so bad keeping the bracelet now but I need to go shopping again...I'd better exercise some self-control this time.
Have a good day everyone

KT - you keep that bracelet and enjoy wearing it! Good for you. I've been known to go out shopping for a gift and return with one for myself.
Kiwi1966. I was switched from Tamoxifen to Zoladex + Aromasin last October. Like you I had heavy node involvement and an "angry" tumor as my surgeon likes to call it.
I've noticed an increase in joint aches and weight gain (grrr!!!). Apart from that I've tolerated it ok. Before I switched I had a bone density scan to get a baseline. Aromasin can accelerate bone density loss. I also take Risedronate weekly as my baseline wasn't great.
I hope your MRI goes well Alyson.
Good luck house buying KiwiCatMom

Hi Alyson, good news about the Mammo and good luck with your MRI. Kiwi1966 I can't speak about the Aromasin yet, but I think that's what I will be going on next week. They said might be going onto an AI that starts with E and I'm pretty sure she said Extremsane which is the other word for Aromasin. Hopefully the SE won't be like Femara. It wasn't so much the aches and pains etc. which I think are pretty standard with AI's, but more the problems with heart and blood pressure, shocking constant headaches and problems with constantly wanting to wee. I have been on Zoladex for over 6 months now and I really don't think there are any side effects. They weren't sure if it was the Femara or Zoladex so took me off both, but I'm pretty confident it was the Femara as I stopped taking them a couple of weeks ago and feel pretty good now. For the first couple of months I got my Doctors surgery nurses to give me the Zoladex shots and then I took over and now do them myself. I reckon it's worth it to not get horrendous periods. Definately coming back as a man next time

Morning.
Alyson, I hope the MRI went ok. When do you get the results?
Kiwimum, I hope you're recovering & in less pain now.
Hi everyone else- have a good day.
I'm off to Pilates. I really would rather stay in bed, but I know I'll feel better for doing it...

Just lost my post !!#*#@!
MRI done and should get results early next week. Gosh how I hate being in those machines. Felt so weird afterwards I went and treated myself at Crafty Knitwits in Milford. I love that place but should never go there as the wool and fabric wave at me and insist I buy things. And of course they make great coffee.
Don't think I have told you that I am knitting a shawl. We have another grandchild due at the beginning of August. DS and DDiL will find out what it is going to be on Tuesday. I think I would rather have a surprise. Will post pictures if the shawl as I get further on.
Had better get dressed as I have a report to write today.
Big hugs

MRI results good as far as mets go. According to the BS my back is a real mess and this information caused us to collapse into laughter and we laughed until we cried. My BS is an absolute sweetie. She says she worries so much each time I have an unidentified problem. She told me at five years that she hadn't expected me to get that far.
Very hot and sticky tonight.

yay that's great news Alyson.

Yay Alyson
Sorry your back's a mess but great it's not mets! Can you do or take anything to help?
Keep on keeping on
It has been hot today, like summer still... I wonder if the cyclone will hit us much. I'm working on Monday, so I hope it's not too bad by then (rural postie- don't want the mail or me blowing away!)

Great news Alyson! I love how we can be so happy about a back being a real mess
Lazy Saturday here. It's lovely and sunny and hot. I think we'll take the kids to the beach this afternoon. May as well enjoy the weather before the foul weather hits

Well, the wind has definitely arrived up here. No doubt it will get worse, it will be good to have some rain though.
I managed to mow around the house & the orchard this morning (ride-on mower) so that's good
I hope everyone is hunkered down & ready for Pam... (I'm hoping we don't lose power, which we often do in storms, then we lose water too bcos the pump doesn't run).
Hope everyone's had a good weekend

the wind is definately picking up here as well. Hopefully we don't get the full force of Pam. Poor Vanuatu. Yesterday was absolutely glorious a group of us went down to the viaduct to look at the Volvo round the world boats and stopped and had a few drinks in the Wynyard quarter and a wander around. It was such a lovely evening.
Keep safe everyone. Think the worst of the weather is going to hit tonight.

KT I hope you don't get too wet delivering the mail. Hope everyone else is safe and dry. Not too much action in my neck of the woods.

I've done my postie run already, not too much mail & not too much wind, phew - just a bit of rain.
I hope you all have a good day

For perhaps one of the few times in history, there's more wind in Auckland than in Wellington! That's what I hear anyway. One of my Auckland friends was freaking out about wind and rain and I told her it sounded like a normal day in Welly.
Glad you made your run safe and sound KT!
Hugs to all,
Terre

Hi everyone, that is really good news Shazza. The storm fizzled out to nothing here in Auckland - thank goodness. It's gotten so hot it's like the tropics and I just had to put my air conditioning on. I can't tell nowdays if it's actually the weather or another hot flush haha!

Yay Shazza! Keep it up
Sure is steamy Fizzdon. I'm not feeling to motivated to do any work....
Catch you later

That is great news Shazza. Hopefully #70 went well.
Up early this morning to make the 8.40am radiotherapy appointment. Tomorrow and Friday are 7.30am ones. Hopefully it won't take a long time to get into town. I am starting my Zoladex and Aromasin on Friday. I was thinking of giving myself a break from all the drugs until radiotherapy is finished (Rosalie said that there was no screaming hurry and I could do that if I wanted to), so I might do that yet. I just want to feel normal for a few weeks again. It seems a long time since I did.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Safe travels into Town Kiwi1966 at least parking should be good at that time. I've had horrendous parking problems at Auck Hospital the last few weeks. Hopefully the radiation will go ok. It's years sine I had it but can't remember too many problems.
Pilates and then work for me. Hope everyone has a great day.

Oh great I'm off into Auckland Hospital Building 8 today at 10:30 to see what medication they are going to put me on. I'm already worried about the parking I had my 1 year check up at the Manukau Super Clinic yesterday it went well and I'm all good. I had an argument with the Specialist, she said I won't need anymore MRI's. I told her I will be having MRI's even if I have to pay for them (does anyone know how much an MRI costs)? She said my Lobular was picked up by Mammogram and I said yes, but not until it was 3.5cm big!!!. God they piss me off, they must see me coming and say oh no, not that woman again! I guess I will never forgive them for not believing me when I found it 18 months before. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the nice weather while it lasts
