I had Taxotere in 2013. I would take Taxol a thousand times over Taxotere, but that was just my experience.

Kbee- Why is that? You've had a pretty easy time with Taxol, haven't you?

karabesque, can you ask for abraxane? Supposedly that has less side effects, but I'm not sure. It has something to do with the preservative agents they put in with the drug. Taxotere was no picnic. I haven't done taxol, but Taxotere gave me neuropathy and gastrointestinal distress after round 5. I mean like sleeping sitting up bad gastrointestinal issues and living on Pepcid a/c for about a week.

I did have an easy time with Tacol, my counts plummeted on Taxotere, the low back pain was like back labor for 3 days, and the taste and heartburn were bad. It was doable, but given the option, I would choose Taxol in an instant. Everyone's bodies respond differently though, soyou might have a different experience.

Yes. Taxotere 1 and 2 were not too bad. 3 and 4 were much worse. I took Ibuprofen on days 3-5; those were the worst days.

I did AC before Taxol and had nuelasta and did better than I am with Taxol. My MO said quitting was not an option. They are concerned about Abraxane, too.. So, I may get sick but at least it's only two more times in the chair.

End of Sept or early Oct I'm starting chemo. Anyone here have ACT in one cocktail or is everyone here having Taxol after AC? Any experiences on all 3 at once?

    Adriamycin, cytoxan, taxol-

    TIA!

I switched to abraxane and my life is a thousand times better. My body was fighting the taxol. I would think they'd want to try abraxane first and see how you do? I have no experience with taxotere but the ladies a on it seem to struggle. Hugs

I was on AC, then Taxol and Herceptin every 2 weeks 12x and Perjeta every 3rd week. I just finished #10, 2 more to go. My original MO's plan was after Taxol it would be Herceptin and Perjeta every 3 weeks for 39 weeks which comes to 13 Perjeta. I changed my hospital and now have a new MO and her plan is to give me only 6 Perjeta saying there is no data that Perjeta has any benefit beyond the 6. Should I be concerned? Any and all feedback appreciated.

12 taxol's in 13 weeks. I guess I'm done with taxol now. I see my oncologist Friday but my guess is that my tumor is half its original size (over 9cm). I start on AC next week. Wish me luck!

Number 10 Taxol done today and just two more to go. I CAN NOT WAIT to be done. Pushed them to get a deportation order and they said I could schedule it for the week after my last chemo. I can not wait. I hope getting it out helps with my blood clots. Is anyone else all bruised where their port is? I have big bruises all over my chest and then a small round one right where they access the port.

Then I get a few weeks off before my lumpectomy on October1 then a few more weeks off before I start rads.

    Melb,

you're headed for the finish line!!!! I can't wait to get rid of that port..but can't until I'm done with herceptin at the end of Dec. I've had the dang thing for a year, though it is better than being stuck all the time.

Taxol #11 Today.......It's almost here..... I can see the finish line....7 more days .. two more weekends of feeling like crap.... I can do this!

melb44 my port stays bruised too... I assume its from being poked every week. Mine comes out the 8th and I hope they give it to me so I can burn it!! :)

    Go Leigh! Almost done!!

Yes - my port hurts the next day too, like it's sore from overuse? It doesn't get bruised though.

yay mel and Leigh!! almost done!! I can't wait to get this damn port out either. ugh!

#8 tomorrow! I'm just having a really blah week and I'm getting antsy and scatterbrained. I sit at work and all I want to do is go home and hide in my bedroom, usually I enjoy being at work to take my mind off all of this crud. I had a really busy weekend with friends and I think that did me in. Now I know to not walk around theme parks for two half days and then expect to feel normal on Monday. I feel like a truck hit me! I was glad to get out of the house though and actually feel normal!

It's also been a full week since wearing my wig and I think I'm getting used to it. It's just SO itchy towards the end of the day. I get in the car on the drive home and rip that thing off and just massage my scalp, feels so good! On the weekend I wore the baseball cap half wig thing and that seemed to help a little but still SO hot in the Orlando heat!

Leigh you are so close! I am sleeping through the night (finally) and getting my life back which is awesome. It took 3 weeks PFC to get this way, but it is wonderful! I still have to get to the gym. I used to go at 4:30 am (kids and after work and school activities ...that was my only free time) but I just love sleeping in anymore. Soon the novelty will wear off and I'll be sweating up and at 'em like my old early bird self.

Week 10 today. Soooo close. And my first echo to check for any heart damage. Wonder if they tell you right away if anything looks off.

Now my OTHER eye is twitching and having lots of tingling. Haven't been able to exercise much since removal of port. Could that be the reason?

Milestone: 4 out of 12 Taxol treatments done.

This chemo malarkey is the slowest 12 weeks of my life but eventually it will end.

Well done all who are toughing it out. Headaches, insomnia, rashes, tingly feet, soggy nails, cottonmouth - we've got them all between us but we'll all get through this.

so I had my echo today. My report is not released for patient viewing ( my first echo was released in two hours on the portal) and magically today a cardiologist showed up on my portal as part of my care team. I have no idea who she is and I've never met her? Going to take an Ativan and try not to freak out?..

anyone had a sore throat with Taxol? I have one that started yesterday and it's still hanging around. I don't have fever ... Yet. Praying it's not strep!! Could this be a pesky SE that I just haven't gotten yet ? I hope so because nothing is going to stop me from getting #12 on Thurs!!!!!

Leigh - I always had a sore throat on and off throughout, and now, at ten days after #12, I still have it. I got a fever once, and the antibiotics they gave me cleared it up.

Leigh - I had a sore throat the first few weeks on Taxol. It finally went away though. Just one more!! Congrats. Did you decide what or if you are going to bring in treats for the nurses?

I want to do something for the nurses and I would love to share with my fellow patients as well. I have bonded with a few of them since we have been together every week for months. I don't want to be obnoxious though with others who are in maintenance mode or still have a long bit of chemo to go.

Did anyone bring in treats when they were done and share with everyone?

    Leigh,

It is probably one of those pesky side effects. I had a lot of sinus issues while on Taxol and persistent thrush. Unlikely to be anything that would stop your final Taxol. So great to finish, I just wanted to run out the door after 12 so they didn't decide to give me anymore treatments. Good Luck, MJ

Leigh, I always had a sore throat for a few days on Taxol.

Allison, I hope your surgery goes well.

Regarding the cardiologist showing up on your portal, anytime a new doc reviews something, they show up on mine. It has nothing to do with results for me

I didn't bring anything for the nurses after the last chemo, I didn't know it was the thing to do. Didn't even occur to me. Scared

But then, again, instill go every 3 weeks for Herceptin so I didn't feel like I was done dealing with them
