Haha Leigh, I'm just glad this kicked in now. It would have been nice it was in place 3 months ago when all this crap started but I'll gladly accept it a few months late if it means I can save my sanity by taking a vacation when this is done! :)

I'm starting to get random dull pains all around my chest and armpit/lymph node area, on BOTH sides, not just the cancer side. So of course this is freaking me out to no end. Does anyone else get this? The other day it felt like someone was stabbing around my nipple area. The past 24 hours it feels like something is poking my upper ribs. I know they said sometimes it's the chemo 'working' its magic but the fact that it's both sides and by my ribs is starting to drive me batty. Anyone else?

Stef: I might have had a little of that. Not so much in the ribs, but in the breast and nodes area. I have heard rib pain is a SE though. Also, for the most part, I think all the pain is gone now. I just finished #12 on Tuesday. So MAYBE, just MAYBE it IS the TAxol working?

Tres: I think it means SHE doesn't know. Can you have her tell the MO to call you back?

    Thanks Ladies,

I am being put on a chemo hold for now 3 weeks anyways, till they figure out what is doing it.

Will be back then I hope. Good luck to all the Taxol gals till then.

    Cathy good luck!

Anyone else having breakouts? And I don't mean a few - I mean like 50 giant cysts? This is awesome. :-( I really don't think I could feel any prettier. NOT.

Princess: I had some acne on Taxol that was pretty unusual for me but pretty minor stuff. You should be almost done?

at request of a couple of friends, I wrote two blog posts this week about my life on Taxel. The first one was written on a good day and the second on a "the whole world sucks" day because as the week goes by, the days are not the same, nor is my mood or attitude. Read them if you want.

trvler I have bad acne. I went to my derm and she prescribed retin a cream. I'm about to pick it up. She said it's what is best for steroid acne. She had to fill out paperwork to get it approved. Apparently insurance companies don't want us older ladies asking for it for wrinkles. If I was 15 it would have been no problem.

I was in a funk at appt 8 today. My mind was not in the game and I just wanted to go home...4 more...I am gaining a lb a week from the steroids and it's really getting to me because I am overweight to begin with..the abraxane works so much better for me, you'd think I'd be happy...

That's funny because I was using retinol before dx and I stopped because I didn't want to use anything after dx. I was afraid mixing it with chemo would cause some negative SE or something. But again my acne is minimal. I do like using it. I really noticed a difference when I first started it. Not so much with the wrinkles but my skin seemed brighter.

I can understand the weight gain being bothersome. Do they say after you are done with the steroids, it comes off? I haven't gained weight from them or some reason.

    Hi everyone,

I have been reading all your posts hoping to ease my nerve. I am starting dense dose taxol every 2 weeks this Thursday. I am very nervous. I just finished AC which kicked my butt.

Any advice? I know I should take B6, B12, And L-glutamine. I have the doses but when do I start? Will these make my stomach sick?

My head is shaved (best decision I made) so hair isn't a concern. I am worried about neuropathy, fatigue, nausea (since I've been nauseous for the past 8 weeks) and the unknown.

I really appreciate any tidbits you can share.

My advice is to ask for weekly Taxol. I think the people taking DD have a harder time. Why are you getting DD?

Weekly Taxol lasts longer, but can be adjusted more easily for Neuropathy, etc. Dose dense tends to cause more pain. My fatigue was not too bad on Taxol, but that varies for everyone. I also think I am probably more tired than I realize, but will not fully appreciate that until my body has recovered

    Karen,

I want to see how I feel on Tuesday since I always felt best on Mondays and Wednesdays…..Wednesdays were steroid high day and Mondays, I assumed were good because it was the longest since infusion.

Allison - not sure why DD, just what I was told. I will need to ask.

Karen - did you do DD? I do want it over quicker. Did you get neuropathy

Just so you know, someone posted a study once that said outcomes for both are equal so don't let them tell you that it is more effective. I am going to guess it has something to do with cost. But I am ever the cynic.

Super down today....... Weekends are getting tougher as I get into higher #'s... I'm trying to focus on the fact that I only have 3 more...........I am so tired of this! I honestly do not remember what if feels like to feel good and that is super sucky!! I also keep looking for the elusive hair.... and it's still just a sprinkleing of fuzz. I need something here to push me through these last few weeks.... I was hoping it would be hair....NOPE!

Michelle, I did not do dose dense. My MO did not give me the option of dose dense. I think cost of Neulasta and the decreased ability to alter it for neuropathy. Dose dense does finish sooner though!

Hugs, Leigh. You are almost done! You can do it. The fuzz is the beginning and this is the week mine started growing.

leigh....I know what you are going through. It sucks! There is an ending. You are 75% finished with Taxol. I do everything in numbers. My hair IS growing. Of course not fast enough and it's mostly white so I still look bald. Not winning. LOL>

Leigh - you are so close! I can tell you that #12 does happen. My last treatment is this Wednesday, and #9 was the low point for me.

I am week 8. Should have been 9 but with all the allergic reactions I lost a week. My hair is the opposite. It thins and thins and thins each week but doesn't all fall out. I think I'm going to be bald by the end of treatment but it's death by a thousand small paper cuts

Leigh I told my nurse it was "hump day" in my chemo treatment. Like a Wednesday before a big event you are looking forward to. Time stands still

Leigh, I was the same way at the end of my Taxol. I felt like I couldn't take it even one more day. It sucks! But here I am, almost 5 weeks PFC and looking back wondering how I did it all. Sometimes I get all misty when I think of how proud I am that I did this! You can do it and it will be over soon!! Gentle hugs!

Congratulations to all of you wonderful ladies who are finishing your taxol journey this week! And to those of you who are just beginning or are having a difficult time, I'm sending you lots of love and hugs. Only those of us who have been there or are going through it still can understand. <3

Hi - my first post. I'm from UK and I've called myself MsBrompton after my bike.

Started weekly Taxol 14 days ago - had 2 treatments so far, 10 to go, and mastectomy behind me. I'm also on Herceptin. It's all very new. (Does that feeling of chemo being an unexploded bomb inside you continue, or will I get over that?)

I've been reading about everyone's ups and downs. Thanks EVERYONE who has already posted encouraging messages. What a source of support! Was so encouraged by the picture posted by the woman (sorry forgot your name already) with gorgeous twin boys going on the Pride march with no hair! Have learnt that no hair is no big deal.

A bit jealous that some of you are nearly finished your course. And nervous about the next 10 weeks, but so far all I've had by way of side effects is a cold sore (herpes), and only a small one. Gonna try to walk 6 miles a day. Wonder how long that resolution will last? Also taking B12 and B complex to try to put off the neuropathy.

OK - Only 2 treatments left!!! 13 days!!

Side note: port did not return blood today - they asked up the chain and our drs think it's fine. BUT blood in arms wouldn't return either - and our nurses are so good, no idea why. They had to call the specialist guy up to get a good flow return. So I'm thinking I'm def getting the port out w/my surgery if they are going to have to stick me 1+ times to get this done!

I had my mom trip up the fishing line hairs too - wow did that ever make a difference! It's only a tiny tiny bit shorter now, but all scragglys are gone ;-)
