Just met with my MO today for follow up. Told her about the bladder pain and leg cramps after first Taxol/Herceptin infusion. She said Taxol does affect people differently with the leg/hip/joint pain. Mine was mild and she didn't suggest anything to take for it, but I didn't ask for anything either. She said the bladder pain was unrelated, and not an SE. (I think differently...it is the only possible trigger). Bladder pain subsided with my Gogiberry juice and alkaline concoction that I typically use.

    Starting #2 tomorrow..

Kymberly, herceptin is known to cause flu like aching in your muscles and joints after the treatment, generally it gets better each time. Taxol causes some muscle and bone aches as well, but for me those diminished the further I got in treatments. Maybe the first 4 I had 2 days of bad aches, especially in the evenings.

Hi girls! Quick taxol question! I just had taxol number 13 today, three to go! Has anyone had restless leg symptoms or for me actually all over restless like ants are in my skin during the taxol? It seems to feel better when I walk to the bathroom. Then on Sunday and Monday my legs are so heavy and I walk sooo so slow. Anyone else?

    Thanks Loopy

Thanks for the info! Today much better. I think your right. It's probably the Herceptin since they gave me a loading dose the first time and said that all my subsequent doses would not be as strong. so I'll keep my fingers crossed that it will that it will get better!

mmesamom- yes. I had restless legs during taxol, but they told me it was from the benedryl. They cut the dose in half and it helped.

    I've probably asked this before, but I don't remember!Happy

Approximately how long did it take for y'all to notice hair loss? I just finished my 3rd weekly yesterday and so far so good! Very few SE, just a little more fatigue. Plus the steroids didn't keep me up last night like they did last week, so bonus!

    hi there!

I get the restless leg syndrome on Tx day night. The steroids keep me up until 3 or 4 am...

I lost my hairs on day 13 of AC the day before tx number 2. On taxol it's growing back but I am loosing eyebrows and eyelashes with the taxol. I had long dark brown reddish hair and I appear to be growing in platinum blonde ! Lol

Deaconlady, I lost my hair on my third week of Taxol. It started falling off a little at a time and then by the handfuls. It was all over the place. I would try not to brush it and I would end up with a birds nest on the back of my head. My kids started calling me Yoda and then I just shaved it. It felt liberating shaving it off.

Angtee, yeah... to your last Taxol treatment!! I hope that AC is nice to you.

I am also finished with Chemo. 4 AC and then 12 taxol. Last one was Thursday. We have a 3 week break before my next herceptin so we are in our way to Florida to celebrate. Still feeling extremely exhausted, but oh well, I'm done.

Hi Ladies ... Hope you are all doing well .

    • Have any of you had 'attacks of bone pain?'    I can be fine ... with minimal pain on the usually symptoms days 3-6 ... i'll do a bit of activity or walking and suddenly i'm in bed in excrutiating pain that takes hours to get on top of even with Percocet .. I have to do deep breathing , massage, hot baths else i'm flapping around on the bed like a crazy woman.

    • Is this normal .. I expected some constant aching .. but not these sudden debilitating episodes that take my breath away.

LilNutmeg- So sorry about the bone pains. Have you discussed these side effects with you MO? I think that would be the place to start.

    hi ladies

I have just had taxol #16 out of 24... I couldn't really complain up until last week. My fingernails and toenails have started to become extremely sore. Anyone experience this? Told my onc and she said it happens and they may fall off... Ugh

Anyone have any tips to deal with the pain?

Also I've noticed my calves are really sore and almost swollen.

    Any input would be appropriated

    Thanks

Bosco2602 I have had a couple of days of fingernail pain; it was weird like they were all bruised and i had heard of this so i was concerned it would continue and they would fall off but it has since passed....

LilNutmeg I have not had attacks of bone muscle pain but I have bone/joint/muscle pain all the time. i find it quite bad but i have refused meds for it as i am on so much already. the MO offered steroids but that is the last thing i want to take more of. Somedays the muscle pain feels like shards of glass in my thighs. Rest helps. it bothers me when walking but also at night if i am in one position too long. i have used biofreeze it helps a bit.

Homeschool4 good for you for being done! enjoy your vacation! I am looking forward to one when i am done!

Does anyone know much about radiation after AC and Taxol. I haven't asked the MO many questions yet about that. i assume its every day and i know i need it for approximately 7 weeks. is anyone else on this schedule of AC then Taxol then radiation?

The surgeon said i will need a bit of reconstructive when all the treatment is done. the left breast has shrunk some and she says radiation will make it shrink more and it will "perk" up so it will definately not be a matched set!

I hope everyone has a good day. i have taxol #8 Thursday. i am at work now but am exhausted and having lots of muscle pain so i may just do half a day.

    Take care

    Sawyer

Ok, so it seems this is going to be the sequence of events. I get sick as a dog on day 3 after Taxol/Herceptin. SICK I tell ya. Fever. Short of breath. I have what feels like a sinus infection. Extremely fatigued, to the point of not leaving bed since Sunday. Every cell in my body hurts. This is Tuesday. Hubby called Oncologist for me and they said to see my general practice dr. What?! They won't help with my side effects?! I don't understand. I'm literally sobbing right now. Ladies does your oncologist help you get through this?

I've only had two treatments but so far it seems days 3-5 have been aching bone pain, and Fatigue. The fatigue is the worst. By 2pm I'm done. Nap time. I also notice my vision has been more blurry than usual the last 4 days. No nausea though. That's very Lucky.

Kymberly - I've had some vision problems while on Taxol. My blurry night vision got better when my MO reduced the steroids. Vision is still altered, but better.

So sorry Birdie!!!! My MO handled all my SE and didn't want me seeing my family doctor while on chemo. I'd try calling again and make the MO see me. Don't know why some don't seem to be nearly as compassionate or helpful. Hope you get some relief soon!!! Sending good thoughts and prayers your way! Hugs.

Birdie56 - I am surprised at your MO response. Two weeks ago I had swollen glands under my jaw. I mentioned it to the chemo nurse Friday. She said if it did not go away to call my MO. Monday it was worse and very tender. So I called my MO and he got back to me before the end of the day. I was told " any problem, any question, call".

Birdie, I feel for you :(. I would definitely make an appointment with MO and discuss face to face. I agree with Praline, the MO should not be so dismisive with SEs
