Angie Congratulations!
Thank you for sharing your Taxol journey I just finished Taxol#4 & I found your post to be very helpful. Even though like you mentioned everyone is different is always good to know what others experienced, we can always use it as of point of reference.
Congratulations again hope to join the finish line in 8 short weeks!!!

Angiesgo- CONGRATULATIONS!! You deserve a little holiday/mini-vaycay! I am thinking on planning one just to have something to look forward to when done. Your daily testimony was spot on! I have have gyno issues though and have a slightly bloody nose every day. Other than that, pretty much the same for me. I do get drained, but I just lay down b/c I am not a good day napper. Thank you for sharing your info on this page and the cold-capper page. Your hair looks incredible!
DFWFLYGIRL- You're getting there! Yes, have noticed a little "chemo brain" myself. Can't remember my clients by name anymore...have to look them up in the database. Oh well!

Just been prescribed Dronabinol/Marinol. I've lost almost 30 pounds since starting chemo in January. Vomiting, nausea and diarrhea have been my worst side effects. Anyone have experience with this drug?
0 -
mltdd, not to worry, I've found your 30 lbs! It's hanging out on my body Some people lose weight on chemo but, in my world at least, the steroids have done their dirty work!
Hope you feel better soon. There is just no worse feeling in the world than nausea.

mltdd ..... I lost 30 pounds on a/c but am much better on taxol. I gained a but and stabilized. ..

Angie- Congratulations on finishing!! Your daily synopsis is exactly how mine feels so good to know. My side effects differ (fatigue, bone pain) some. I agree with Nolagirl..you deserve a vacation or celebration!!
Mltdd - Sorry to hear you are having bad nausea and vomiting. I had that during AC and lost 20 pounds. I hope the meds help you!

MissBee: I'm in the same boat! Every time I go in for an infusion I've gained another pound or two! I never had a problem with maintaining my weight, but now I feel hungry all the time and it feels impossible to lose it. As if losing hair isn't enough!

angiesgo Congrats!! glad you've got this part behind you!
Those of you getting Herceptin, what's your schedule? Mine is weekly along with the Taxol, then I switch to every 3 weeks. I see angiesgo has a different schedule. I also see she's in Australia. Just wondering about others.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Is anyone else experiencing any puffiness or swelling? I'm noticing it mainly in my hands, to the point where I can't get my rings on and off. It seems to come and go throughout the day and I've been trying to up my water intake in case that's the problem, but it's strange.

- I finishes Taxol/Herceptin Feb 22. I'm going on 4th week of Radiation, 5x a week for 6 weeks.... and 2nd Herceptin
alone every 3 weeks on Monday.
I had a very similar experience as Angiesgo, thx for writing all of that cuz I wouldn't have.
I feel very lucky that I had dense dose Taxol, and not anything harsher. People say that I've been "so strong"....but Taxol really has been tolerable (even tho I was on STD) I still feel the bloating and skin tightness, but MO gave me water pills that help. Funny, I never lost my eyebrows until now, I have a few strands left. Waiting for my hair to thicken, I never lost it all, but super thin and I had buzzed it.
Radiation has been ok. I have redness, but nothing painful so far. The worst part is stopping there EVERY day after work! But its only a total of 20- 30 minutes.
Over all, this has been an amazing experience. I have learned so much about my friends, family, myself and the world.....the kindness has been overwhelming.......
Best of luck to all of you tough, amazing women who I am proud to have shared this journey with!!!!!!!!

I have Herceptin with each Taxol weekly, just finished #7. After 12 weeks I will have Herceptin every 3 weeks for 9 months. I imagine I will have radiation after Taxol is finished.

I have a hair question for those of you who are ahead of me with the Taxol (I'm on week 5 of 12). My eyebrows, eyelashes and arm hair that survived the AC are now falling out. BUT at the same time hair is growing back in force and fast in places where I don't want it -- enough to merit a shave, never thought I'd have to do that during chemo! As of a few days ago, I also have a little fuzz on my head, not enough to be really visible, but it feels soft and gives me hope that there is more to come.
How can hair simultaneously be falling out and growing back? If the hair on your head started growing back on the Taxol, did it fall out again, or did it continue growing?

hi there!
My hair everywhere but eyebrows and eyelashes left on AC. On taxol my eyebrows and eyelashes fell out but the hair on my head is coming back ( I am on week 12 this week and it's been growing since week 4 I think) I have a fuzzy head of soft hair! My bikini area has some soft hair like pre puberty but it's not growing any further. I have a little hair on one lower leg now to but not enough to shave.
That's the 101 on hair from me! Lol

week 2 day 5 of taxol--Ive never been so exhausted in my life! lol. its still far better than AC though. Im slowly losing some eyelashes and eyebrows and have some very short prickly hairs on my head.

Maya15: My hair is also growing back. I noticed peach fuzz after my third taxol and now, after my fifth, it's starting to turn dark! I'm so excited. As for m eyebrows and eyelashes, they continued to fall out, but I notice little hairs coming back in there too. I'm obsessed with watching it come in : )
Ps. Armpit hair has peach fuzz now too. As much as I hate shaving, I love that it's there. It reminds me of being "normal."

Hello Ladies! I have been a member of this group for a few months, but this is my first post. I get so much encouragement from reading about others going through what I am.
I have finished my AC Chemo and I have had 7 Taxols. After week 2 of taxol I got a rash on the back of one hand that stumped the doctor. A couple of weeks later it started on my left hand and now is on the back of my knees and wrists. Doctor is still puzzled, but he called me in a cream. He did prescribe a 6 day steroid pack, but then advised me not to take it because he believes I have a stomach ulcer.
Has anybody else experienced this and what worked for you?

Hi Ladies just wanted to say a big thank you for sharing ur experiences its very useful !! I just started the 12 weeks taxol on this week. I have already had 3 months AC. This is day4 and so far its easier than AC. I have pain almost everywhere in my body but I can deal with it. Yesterday was the worst, I was extremely tired and had a very bad pain in my joints and bones. Hopefully its gonna be easier later on. I decided to take 30 g L Glutamine per a day. Is there anybody who has experience with L GLutamine during taxol? Many thanks and hug for all brave women here!! Daisy

Ddaisy--I had bone pain in the beginning but added cocktail of L-Glutamine, Amino acids, B6 daily and it has helped mitigate pain greatly for me. I am also icing hands and feet during Taxol for neuropathy but MO said it also helps with pain and swelling as a 2nd benefit for feet and hands. I take Aleve and do weekly acupuncture with walking and a lot of water. Hope you get relief as you go....some other gals are doing this also and it helps some and not others.

hi all!
So I got to ring the bell today! 12 Taxols down! It was very emotional. I was there with my oldest daughter and my boyfriend and all of a sudden in walks my daughter who I thought was in Ohio ( she goes to nursing school there and I am in NH)- she flew in for my last chemo! I was in shock and so happy !
Tonight everyone is settled down and I am exhausted but can't sleep and have the tingly toes and some bone pain.
The MO said " it took 12 weeks to put this into your system it's going to take awhile for it to go out". I am booked to see them in 2 weeks for labs. I am booked 5/2 to see the radiation oncologist. Today they didn't seem hot on getting the port right out..... They said sometime we leave it in in case we need it.
I ended up having to go in again Tuesday this week for IV fluids and IV nausea meds.... Not sure where the nausea came from???? I keep getting dehydrated no matter how much I drink
I hope everyone is doing well. Stay strong and fight fabulously 💕

Congratulations Sawyer!!!!
Good luck Daisy, I hope you feel better soon. I have yet to take anything for neuropathy/bone pain but I know many on here have.
Welcome Sue!
Maya, my hair on my head has grown this whole time I've been on chemo, but never enough that I didn't choose to shave it. Meaning, it would grow but simply wearing a hat would make parts of it rub off and I could still grab the roots and easily pull it out. Eyebrows and lashes are very sparse and about every 2 weeks I get just enough light stubble to do a quick shave. Arm hair on my forearm never fell out and no hair on my lady bits/armpits/nose! I can't figure out any rhyme or reason for all this.
DWFLYGIRL, you up in the night like me from today's steroids?

Congratulations Sawyer!!!
I get to see my oncologist today. They skipped last weeks taxol due to neuropathy in my hands and feet. Oncologist needs to give ok for chemo today. 3 left to go. Anxious to get this behind me.

Is there any drug pauses during the weekly taxol??
0 -
Mama3M--Not sure what you mean? Are you asking about during the infusion? If so, for my first one I got Zantac, then Decadron, then Benadryl, then 30 minute pause, then Herceptin, then Taxol. Took about 5 hours the first time. Now I get the first two mixed together then the rest with no pauses as long as the drugs arrive on time! Usually about 3 hours.

MissBee...you know the routine well. Benedryl nap after or during chemo and then that wears off and hello steroids. Didn't get to sleep until 3am this morning....ugh
