I just finished #8 of 12. The AC combo left me nauseated all the time. I am not nauseated with Taxol, but I have pain when urinating. Checked for UTI, but no infection. Also I burned two fingers on the oven a month ago and they are not healed. No infection, just not healing over. So I will be happy to finish up with the last 4 and then have the surgery.

    taxol #9 today.

I had an awful cold and cough about a month ago and I still have a lingering cough and a sore chest from all the coughing. Dr ordered a chest X-ray just to make sure it is nothing more than that. I'm nervous, even though there is an obvious explanation. I just don't want to have to be treated for something else!!!!

Numb: So glad the baking soda/salt mouthwash helped! It saved me!

Blue Koala: Try to not worry until you have something to worry about! ( I know, believe me; I was the queen of ultra-worry!) But at least your doctors are on top of it and you didn't have to argue to try to get a test, etc. and this way you will know quite soon if you need more treatment. And if you do, you do, and it's great you can get it. Right? :) None of us wanted any of this and it all does rather stink. I had a sinus/cold infection in the first week of June, and I still have lingering effects. I'm hoping that now that I've just stopped my final Taxol (have Herceptin only now going forward for 9 mos.) that the lingering cold will go away. Good luck to you.

I'm feeling much more relaxed about it now. I know it's most likely just the remnants of the cold. I'm just having a rough time on Taxol, enough of a rough time that my dr is concerned and we trailed dropping the dose today. I don't want any more complications.

OMG, if steroids is retaining fluid then I don't want it and I expressed that to the OC. She still says it prevents reactions. Yes, I know but I think it's highly unlikely that I will get nausea. I never get nausea with AC. OC said she wouldn't take off steroid or reduce it. I'm the patient and I have rights. I don't mind taking the benadryl and pepcid without the steroid and zofran.

HOUSTON - I would not go against my OC if I were you.  The reaction she is talking about is not nausea but something more severe.  I started off on 20mg dexamethasone the night before my 1s and 2nd Taxol.  I also had 8 mg dexamethasone on the day of the infusion as well.  For my 3rd Taxol I had 8 mg the night before, 4th Taxol 6 mg, 5th Taxol 4 mg, 6th Taxol 2 mg and 7th Taxol I had no steroid the night before, but I will always have the 8mg with the infusion.  You may not retain fluid, it doesn't happen to everyone.  It didn't happen to me, so far.

I am starting weekly Taxol on Wednesday. Seems like I have such a long way to go. Not looking forward to it.

I have felt like Taxol has gone faster than AC, I think because I'm in every week rather than every second week.

I agree! The second week on AC was totally needed, but I felt it was a wasted week! I like being able to count down every week

The weekly infusions fly in for me too.  It is like I am no sooner finished one week when the next week crops up.

I have had 5 weekly treatments of Taxol. After the 4th I had tingling in feet, and after the 5th tingling and numbness. This denotes nerve damage, my 6th treatment has been put off, and I am waiting to see the Oncologist, to learn what will happen next. Has anyone else experienced this?

Numb - we always seems to be in the same boat. Both in hospital, mouth sores, nuepogen shots, ILC, and now same dosing of dexa... Chemo sisters.

I was curious to my Wbc count today for an embarrassing reason. It's 1,7 which seems low. But I didn't want to explain that I punctured my toe last night on a wine glass I dropped at a concert. And I cut myself with gardening shears the week before. If I end up in hospital over this stupid wine toe episode... Sheesh! We've all heard if fwp. (First world problems) this is CP. also all these lovely steroids mean I'm nattering on at 1am even after taking a gravol an hour ago. 5/12 paclitaxels under my belt. Yay taxol!boo AC.

Oh and I'm out loud and baldy proud these days. Can't be arsed with hats scarves and wigs anymore. Plus I have some decent hair growing back.

    Good night. I hope.

1Uniboob, I had some decent hair growth at your stage of treatment, and then it fell out again. So don't get too excited.

Just some encouragement for newbies. Before starting chemo I was preparing myself for horrible in bed summer beeing weak and sick. I am 1 week past last Taxol. I had no severe sideefects on Taxol. I exercised every day, was active, didn't stay in bed even one day. I iced my fingers and toes, did cold caps. So far no neuropathy. I didn't go to work, but worked from home because I was afraid of public transportation( my commute is long and involves crowded public transport ).. After chemo # 9 I did 10 miles hike on my birthday which was really huge achievement for me.

The problem started after Taxol # 10 . I got a lot of steroid swelling in legs. Its hard to work and one leg looks biger then other. But I do Exersise still..... My MO send me to check swelling . I did eco, sonogram .nothing wrong. I guess it's steroids. So I am hoping swelling will subside soon. So far still hard to walk:(

Or, yes, one more problem..very annoying. Night sweats. Its horrible. I wake up every 15 min sweating...so gross and annoying.

But, reading what you ladies go trough, I shouldn't complant. It was not that bad after all.

I still doing my Herceptin every 3 weeks. Just had one today. But it was so much easier without chemo and all premeds and cold capping that was total of 6 hrs.of torture.

Best of luck to all of you who still going trough Taxol!😍

jemever: i had tingling and sore fingers and toes after my first taxol, but then started glutamine and it went away until my seventh dose this last friday. I started getting a pins and needles feeling on bottoms of my feet and backs of calves. My oncology team recommend alpha lipoid acid 300 mg twice daily and 50-100 mg of vitamin B6 once daily, along with massage and possibly acupuncture. Unfortunately my feet are starting to blister and crack. Oh, they also recommended application of coconut butter (not oil) on the bottom of my feet. Hope this helps you. It can be transient.

I have done 7 Taxols but no sign of any hair growth yet.  My head is covered in a very short white fuzz that doesn't appear to be growing much, but I guess this is early days yet.  I have no hair growth on my legs, under arms or anywhere else.  Eyebrows and eyelashes are very sparse.

Viktoryak - I am also do AC (herceptin, perjeta, carboplatin, taxol) every three weeks with weekly taxol sessions. I have only been through one full cycle - of six - so far. I am also using the cold caps for my hair, hands and feet. Were the caps successful in helping to keep your hair? I have my fingers crossed!!

dccancer, as I heared cold caps work best with Taxol. So you do AC? Chemo AC as well? It is very hard on hair I heared. I only did Taxol and Herceptin so far my hair thinned a lot but still there. But I read somewhere they will be still shedding after.big shed 21 days pfc. So keeping my fingers crossed. As for ice it worked with me for neurophaty and keeping nails.

I feel very tired around my eyes, and it is only around my eyes.  I look like I just got out of bed and didn't sleep a wink for the night.  I have been looking like this for a few weeks now.  I can go out and do things but all around my eyes look jaded and then my wig feels heavy on my head.  I have bags under my eyes and a bit of tension in my head.   Does anyone else feel like this ?

Yes my regimen is (Herceptin, Carboplatin, Taxol, Perjeta) every three weeks. Normally the infusions would on be once every three weeks but bc I am getting taxol instead of taxotere and live just 10 minutes from the center I take the taxol every week. I really hope to keep my hair. I work out a lot and can't wear a wig for that. The hardest part is leaving the caps on for four hours after treatment.

I have just realized that I stopped drinking the water and this has contributed to my fatigue.  Someone asked me yesterday was I drinking the water and suddenly the penny dropped that I wasn't and this is the reason I was feeling like my head had shrunk.  I started immediately drinking it again and oh the difference in how I feel today is striking.  Taxol is very drying on the system and I was waking up with a sore throat every morning for the last week until I had my breakfast.  So my advice to anyone who is feeling fatigued is drink plenty of water.  I had forgotten how valuable it is when on chemo.

Oh Yes, ever since day one I was told to drink at least 80 oz of water a day, and I had not stopped since. It was slightly hard to adjust drinking Alot of water at first, but OMG, during cancer treatment and even later, the importance of drinking lots of water is paramount. Imagine all the drugs we have in our system, it is necessary to flush and detox the toxins out of your body.

Had my first Taxol yesterday. Today I am feeling pretty normal just a little tired. They iced my fingers and toes during the Taxol infusion. So....1 down, 11 more to go. Ugh.....

I agree, the weekly goes fast. My chemo day (1) and next day (2) are good. Halfway through day 3 I start to get tired & achy. No where near as bad as AC for me. You can do it cris!
