I am feeling pretty good. I'm still feeling pretty wired from the steroids, but so far this is much better than the Adriamycin and Cytoxan.

HelenFaith, I was having dreadful heartburn and acid reflux after the first couple of treatments. Tried Pepcid Max strength several times a day, but it hardly made a dent. Asked the pharmacist if one-a-day omeprazole (Losec in Canada, Prilosec in U.S.) would be more effective, and it has completely taken care of the problem.

Thanks everyone! I am starting think I do have heartburn that comes and goes. I had a pleural effusion with the cancer diagnoses, so my first fear is are for my lungs, but I can take very deep breaths and can do my 3 mile walk without any issues. I will talk with my MO and will keep you all posted.

TWG, good to hear you did well. I believe a strict diet of clean eating, L-Glutamine powder, vitamins B6 & B12, Calcium & Probiotics and exercise as highly recommended by MO and Dietitian have all made a difference for me. Find what will help you. Check with your cancer care center and see what supports they provide and get connected. My center offers everything, including Yoga, as most do. Take good care.

librygddess - Have you already had the A/C treatments, or are you having them after you finish the Taxol? What was the size of the original tumor? I don't see your profile information. How many Taxol treatments have you had? Since the A/C is much stronger than the Taxol you should see better results with it. I had a lumpectomy and then A/C before starting Taxol. All I can tell you is that my tumor markers were still elevated after six Taxol treatments but two weeks later are in the normal range. The treatment effects are cumulative so don't panic. You're in my prayers.

It's been 3 weeks since last my Taxol. Y'all can do this!! While going though it it's definetly hard to see or imagine the end of it,but it's there:)

Taste is coming back, fingernails have stopped lifting and are actually beginning to feel stronger. I'm not as tired and don't crash by the days end as much. The comment that I read before I started chemo that really stuck out to me and got me through is "it's doable" and it is:)

    Hello,

I just completed number 11 of Taxol. Yeah! One more to go and then Herceptin. I was told Herceptin would be every 3 weeks, but my oncologist nurse just said the doc had me down for weekly for the remainder. She said it was probably because it was a more consistent dose, but was going to double check that was correct. Anyone with early stage Her2 that had weekly Herception?

I brain, my Herceptin will continue on a weekly basis after Taxol is finished. The reason is because it might be the culprit that caused a blood problem (ITP). After that was over, we started H back as a tiny dose, then the next week a little more and then to a regular weekly dose. No loading dose ever. I hope this will mean fewer and milder SEs.

Hi, I just joined the group. I had #2 taxol today with Herceptin. So far I feel Great except my teeth hurt, throat scratchy( allergies?) restless leg and not tired at bedtime. On day 5 my upper leg bones ached terribly. Aleve got me through. I read something earlier from a post that this could be bad. Anyone know ?

I want to be walking more but not... and chemo day I give myself permission to sleep and lay around.

In his Palm-those are all things I had with my infusion. Not sure details of your premeds, but some of the side effects are from those.Stratchy dry throat I used sugar free candies, drank lots of water. The steroids, yes kept me up first night and lots of energy the 2nd day. My bone pain starts by day 4. I take a Claritin every day which does help, along with tylenol as needed. I also had tooth/sinus pain, runny nose is pretty common also. The taxol is very drying to your system, my nose dries out even bleeds. I use a saline spray and a little vaseline at night.

This is a great place for info, if you have the time read the previous posts. Also check out group that started chemo May or June ( which ever applies). You can enter your diagnosis details, surgery and treatment details and hook up with people with similar to yours. Welcome to the club none of us asked to be in!

kb870-- I use Ayr Gel a few times a day and apply at bedtime. Seems to have stopped my bloody nose from being so dry. And during the day I still spray Ocean saline mist to try to keep areas I can't get to with Ayr Gel

I think the dry stuffy nose is most annoying if my Taxol SE as it makes me feel like I can't breath.

Had Taxol #5 yesterday , slept through the entire session ..... first time for everything! It went very well and then came home and slept for another 2 hours and only slept 2 hours this morning.

Fingertips are a little numb and feet are kinda achy, but nothing unbearable . I do have a rash on the back of my neck and a little rash in the middle of my bald head, I'm not sure if it's from the Taxol or the heat here in Georgia. After everything I've been through, I'm so not worried about a little rash, lol.

How's is going for the rest of you ladies?

I have a new attitude and lease on life. The treatments are working and shrinking my tumor and I'M SO, SO THANKFUL for that! I received great awesome news this past week and I've stopped worrying about dying from cancer and all the bad thoughts that came from that.

Looking forward to my future as a strong willed woman, as possibly marrying the man of my dreams whom I love more than any man ever and getting my life back on track.

Thank you to ALL OF you STONG WOMAN for checking on me and so thankful for your support!

Tonyaberryman - I loved reading your very positive post. Full of thanks, hope and love! And how romantic too πŸ’•πŸ’•. I was sorry to read now you're not feeling great. The SE's we are all affected by are only a torture 😀😞😞. I am due Taxol #5 on Thursday (almost halfway). So far my SE's have been very manageable. No nausea, no neuropathy, no bone pain. Hair loss after #2 and eyebrows and eyelashes thinning now. I am so relieved to be back on track after having bother with my wound for 5 weeks and chemo was postponed. Counting down every week now til the end. Hope you are feeling better tomorrow. Keep the sunny side out πŸŒžπŸ’πŸ’

I BRAIN - I am getting my herceptin every three weeks now that I have finished taxol (March 23rd). Having more joint pain this time and am thinking about having MO slow down the infusion and see if that helps. More likely it's the AI but still have 6 months of herceptin too.

Thanks, Dodgers Girl, for the information. My liver levels are better after skipping a treatment a few weeks ago. They're slowly rising now, but my MO is not too concerned since I have only three more treatments to go. Yippee!
