hhuey, I would definitely call your doctor with those symptoms. I see you are on Herceptin which can have heart side effects. Better safe than sorry, let your doctor decide if it is important or not.

thanks honey! I was awake a lot last night with 'flu' symptoms and 'restless' muscles - sore aches and pains - I think an antihistamine might help.... before sleep.... I am one of the anaphylactic girls with taxol... lol

huey - yes tell your MO. I started experiencing shortness of breath at about Taxol 6. MO moved up my second echo and ordered a chest X-ray. All was fine after the end of Taxol (although it's the herceptin that usually causes the heart issues).

Taxol #11 infusion uneventable. Trouble with port for the first time. Blaming the nurse - first stick, no blood return, she tried flushing, instant pain and burning. She removed needle, tried a second time, same thing. Called in another nurse for advice, tried moving it a third time with no luck. Finally got someone else, she got it right away. Delayed things by almost an hour. No one has had trouble accessing my port in the previous 10 infusions. Thinking i will request Jane not be my nurse again. Got a little sleep from midnight to 430, finally got up at 445, read some, watching tv. My port site is sore today, hasnt bothered since I got it back in may

in the infusion chair for Taxol #11. Had to reschedule yesterday's appointment til today cause DH has unplanned open heart surgery yesterday. He is in ICU now and that is where I will head after infusion today.

Port didn't want to give blood this morning. I think my port acts up when I am dehydrated. Sure not drinking enough water while at the hospital!

Infusion is way different today not having a partner to help with icing hands and feet, as well as other things DH did each chemo session.

I am sooo worn out from this week. Hope that enables me to sleep tonight

so my triage nurse referred me to the ER ..they did an xray and a chest CT scan with a quick push of the contrast to check for blood clot..no clot, no pneumonia, heart fine, lungs fine..they are attributing my shortness of breath and chest pain to anemia which I could certainly see because my red blood cell count is down..my MO says it's fine though but on my labs it has been in the red for weeks..If I am sitting I'm fine but any normal paced walking winds me easily...I called my MO and left a message to see if it's still a go for infusion tomorrow..we will see

    Hi all,

I'm cross-posting to a couple of topics to say hello. I've been a lurker on these boards for a while. I started weekly Taxol in July and will be following it with AC: 12 rounds of Taxol, then 4 of AC every other week.

I just finished Taxol #5. For the first three, I had a steroid with my premeds and ended up with side effects of heartburn and fatigue 3 and 4 days after treatment. My MO gradually stepped down the strength of the steroid with each treatment, and I didn't have the steroid with #4. The week from #4 to #5, I had zero side effects. I mean, nothing. Felt totally normal and healthy. And so far so good for #5. So I think the side effects were only from the steroid and the crash. Moving forward, I won't have the steroid for the rest of Taxol.

Am curious to learn more from those of you who've done Taxol followed by AC.

I have just finished my 6th weekly Taxol ( light dose). The phenergan given before the Taxol always whacked me and I also had steroids for the first 4 treatments. Since I had zero allergic reaction to the Taxol, I discussed withdrawing these additional meds from the chemo regime. We agreed and yesterday I was in and out in 90 mins and felt great afterwards. No red face today either which is interesting -makes me think the steroid actually causes that , not the Taxol. The nurses in the chemo room were very reluctant to adopt the changes-they like to stick to an established regime. But Im glad I pushed for it.

tonyaberryman- I had another mammo and U/S Thursday and see my BS this afternoon. Hoping to get an idea of what's next for me. Wednesday will be Taxol 12. Waiting to see if DH will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow or Wednesday to a rehab center. Sure miss having a helper with all of this. Sigh

Hi, I finished #4 of 12 weekly taxol yesterday.

It seems that I have UTI symptoms for about two days (bad luck!). I will have a test today. I might be prescribed antibiotics. I am worried if this could result in any delay in my treatment. Is there anyone using antibiotics during same chemo regimen? Any idea on that?

in the chair for Taxol 12 of 12, too!!!

Port decided to be stingy with blood return so we had to tell it who was boss... then the blood flowed.

WBC down a bit from last week at 6.8.

Feeling tired. Miss having hubby here with me. He was released from hospital yesterday and is on a rehab center where he will get cardiac and occupational therapy. I will visit him when finished at the infusion center.

Had to cancel our "chemo's over" celebration because of his surgery so will just have a bigger celebration once we are through our medical stuff this winter. How does sitting on a balcony listening to the ocean waves while having room service sound!!!

Good luck to all of you who are starting or in the middle of Taxol.

My next step is surgery in 4 weeks
