18 out of 30 done followed by colonos opy w upper endoscopy scheduled hysterctomy scheduled in mid oct 2017. Having a second thought about da vinci bc of fibroids and narrow way to remove uterus. Getting another consul to get abdominal hyst. PT in between and consul for probable bursitis removal. Skin cancer screening done. Looking for any surgeries I may have been overlooking. I am branded by health insurance company. YTD actual payout of $200,000.00 by United Health care And i saw lots of tiny chin hair #@%%* bought papaya to make facial hair removal scrub but no energy today,

rebamacfan123- do tell about a papaya facial hair removal... with Taxol done, chin hairs are growing back but not eye brows(yet). ... not fair.

Rads are over half way done..hope the remaining sessions are without issues fir you.

I am also looking to work in colonoscopy this year. MO said to wait til after mastectomy. Maybe I can get it done between rads and hysterectomy?? Didn't really want to do a colonoscopy before but after all I have been thru so far, a colonoscopy sounds like a walk in the park

KB870, great to hear that your hair is coming back strong after weekly Taxol and now hercptin. That is my regiment also. How long PFC did you see hair growth?

Cherry, Tuesdays we're always weird for me too because the chemo made me fatigued but the steroids made me jumpy. The steroids will start to wear off in the next day. Hope you are able to rest up and drink LOTS of water to flush out your system!

Dodgersgirl, both of us deserve a medal for fighting spirit. Will let you know about papaya scrub.

Colonoscopy is highly recommended bc you are only out of commision for the day before due to frequent trips to bathroom and on the day the only problem is you cannot drive for that day. This will be my second time.

Here is another idea besides getting it done between surgery and rads. My best guess is you will be getting about 30 sessions. For all the practical purposes, it is not a bad idea at all to get a break about halfway rads. My rad place had so called technical malfunction exactly halfway conveniently on Friday. It turned out to be a nice break for me both skin and fatiguewise. So maybe you see a colon doc as soon as rads start and schedule it on Friday about midway point.

rebamacfan123- forgot about not being able to drive home after colonoscopy. Will definitely have to schedule once hubby can drive after his open heart surgery.

Cherry sorry you are not feeling well today hope it gets better for you soon. Got my port in today went good, starting the chemo tomorrow!

Welcome to all the new girls sorry you are here but you came to the right place don't know what I would do if I didn't have this to follow!

T-Sue thank you for the pointers, every little bit of first had knowledge is great. I asked MO if i needed to bring anything to my first chemo tomorrow and they said just yourself. (they have been know to lie to me a time or two since this journey started) so if any of you ladies have suggestions on what to bring to chemo I am all ears (eyes :))

KB870, I'd love to see your pics but I don't think that link is the right place.

Kimberbir, good luck with your first chemo! I suggest snagging a bunch of magazines (from the library or waiting room). I found that once the benedryl premed bag hit, I felt pretty drunk and not able to concentrate on a book or anything serious. The best bet is finding another patient and chatting. I ALWAYS learned about a new resource or idea.

Hi guys, I was cleaning some mushrooms in the kitchen sink and saw that veins on my left hand got swelled a lot, when I elevated my hand the blood ran down but when I took it down it swellt again. When I am saying swelling I mean like I have not seen before, not that much. Anything familiar Cherry

DodgersGirl - I didn't get a Wednesday off yet, started my herceptin only this week. Uneventful, no premeds, port worked good, 30 min infusion. I thought the first time it would be 90 since it was triple dose, but nurse said protocol is 30, since I have been getting the herceptin for 12 weeks. She did say if I wasn't ok with that, they would go 60 or 90. I opted to go 30 since I haven't had any issues prior, in and out quick!. It was great to go to bed last night after the news and sleep, but kinda miss the extra energy. So far no SE from the herceptin. Actually won't have a Wednesday off til Sept 6th, have recheck with RO and an echo next Wednesday.

BJI. - hoping no SE for you with herceptin! Nice to sleep last night especially when going to work on Thursday!

My port didn't want to give blood last Wednesday so nurse moved around that needle they insert and got it working.... but it bled a lot more after chemo when they disconnected me from chemo and is bruised and sore still this week. No fever and spit isn't hot. Don't know if/when my port will come out so for now, I go back to MO in Sept for blood work, port flusfmg, and flu shot and maybe shingles vaccine

Sounds like your herceptin infusion should be a walk in the park compared to other chemos already received Hope it kicks cancer's butt for you.

Kimberbir, good luck with the first chemo, I did not bring anything to read with me I was concentrating on the ice bits in my mouth and waiting for any reaction they told me could happen. I had Herceptin before and we were told to stay for another two hours for observation, so some food would have been good, we did not bring any. And make sure you eat what you can and what you want. When I found out about my diagnosis I started eating alcaline and vegetarian, no bread, no sugar, some fish like once-twice a week. Both my husband and I went down 6 kg each in a month. But then I red that during the chemo the body will need protein to build the new cells and in case there will be no protein coming with food the body will be taking it from the muscles, so I started with both bread and meat. When I asked my onc nurse what shall I eat in order not induce the bc to grow she told me eat a little of everything except for phytoestrogen like soy products, and your cancer has been taken out, you can eat what you want. Well, she had some point there. I will revise my eating habits after the treatment but now I decided to eat both meat and even white bread. And bring a lot of water, I was drinking a lot. Good luck, hugs,Cherry

Kimberbir, great that they got your reaction under control, one chemo less to go. My veins are probably just my aging, maybe I did not noticed it before. The nurse told me to contact them if anything gets worse.

    Hi all,

I am what is called triple positive and there is a great thread that has been started back in 2011, it has over 1000 pages. When I just found about me being triple positive I both joined it and started to read it from the beginning because I wanted to know like ALL. Now I understand it will take some time but I got hooked and I am just reading through it. There are people on this thread who are still posting frequently since 2011.

Now to what I wanted to tell you all about. Back in 2011 one of the users on this thread posted the following:

There are some really good people in the world. I want to let everyone know. There is a website that offers a free scarf for people who have hair loss from illness. A few weeks ago I ordered a scarf and today it came in the mail, beautifully wrapped, along with a get well card personally signed by about 20 people. I was touched. The scarf is beautiful....gorgeous infact. I will be proud to wear it. Here is the link for anyone who is interested. What an amazing company and compassionate people.

    http://www.franceluxe.com/i/goodwishesscarves/Good...

I decided to try this link and it worked, I have now sent a request for a scarf with the good wishes, I will only have to pay for the shipping costs because I am outside the US, for any of you who wants it, it will be delivered free of charge.

I just had my 2nd Taxol. I have a very queasy stomach. Not nausea. Very tired and achey. Shortness of breath only if up and walking. Last time I felt better in about a week. Good luck

Emmalee - try nexium rather than anti-nausea medication. Worked for me. Tell your MO before your next Taxol. They may be able to change your "pre chemo cocktail" to eliminate some of your SE's. I got short of breathe about #6. In fact, they moved my echo up and did a chest E-ray but it went away post Taxol. Stay close.

I had my second Taxol today and had a mild reaction when I felt it was difficult to breathe, they stopped for some time and gave me more cortisone and antihistamine and then ran it slowly. Cherry

Had Taxol #4 today.. 8 more to go! No major side effects, but I don't want to jinx myself. I noticed my hair is starting to shed. I may have to buzz it soon. But I'm ready with a wig, scarves and hats. Hope your all hanging in there!image
