Oh, Hope, I love your car shopping story!!! We all need to be more impulsive about doing what makes us happy!

Hppe, you're a wild thing! My gosh it sounds like funfunfun!

Whoop whoop Hope!! Sometimes we do need to ditch the "sensible" & have some fun :-) Wishing you many adventures in the Wrangler!
Deanna - I've had that face from the lady who did my bone scan too. The way she looked at me when she handed over the results I felt I should head straight to the funeral parlour! Thank god for an oncologist who will either be optimistic or practical, never dire.
Dune – so glad the chemo is going in all guns blazing. Before you know it you'll be done & stable & feeling close to normal again.
Cristina – sending virtual hugs & hope you get your tx plan & pain sorted out soon.
To all the cat lovers, I'm with you :-) My little Daisy is just a furball of love.
5 more sleep & little one & I are off on our adventure. Chaotic week of last minute checklists & people to see but that's all part of the fun.
Have a great week everyone!

Great car story! Love it! My mother bought a sports car when she turned 60. It had a huge sunroof; took up almost the whole roof of the car. And she and her friend drove around Omaha blasting "I'm too sexy" and similar songs. So I kind of got a double flash of happiness from your description. So happy you went for the fun factor!
Christine, so hoping they get your treatment sorted and cancer under control ASAP. And that once you're done with chemo that the cancer is zapped into oblivion. Same for you, Dune. And anyone else doing chemo.
As to the big D...I keep being told things will make me constipated, and it makes me hope for "normal". No such luck so far. The Celebrex, Femara, allergy meds, etc., all conspire against me. Better than constipation, but annoying as hell.
Hope Deanna and Linda get scan results quickly!
Hugs to all,
Terre

Hope, DH and I did the same thing 3 weeks ago. We threw caution to the wind and bought a new car. It was like "screw you cancer, you are not zapping all the joy from my life". I did chicken out somewhat at the end and we usually buy our cars, we did a one payment 3 year lease, just in case. Those 3 words seem to creep into my vocabulary a lot nowadays.
Glad to hear everyone is getting their tx in order. My DIL called last nite and said her mucus plug broke. We are driving up there, so we quickly packed our bags and are now sitting on pins and needles waiting for "the call".
OK, time to hear it for the dogs! Hope my picture posts correctly. Myra.

Cristina, praying they get your treatment figured out and that you get relief from the pain.
Romansma, you and dh just bought the vehicle my dh wants next, his truck is in major need of repair and he's had a jeep before and wants another. I remember all the summers taking the hard top off and putting the soft top on, driving around with the girls in the back, omg fun times! Congrats to your spontaneity!
Karz, have fun on your adventure! I'm sure it's busy right now but you'll be able to relax and unwind soon.
Myra, congrats on your new car too! And soon you will be a grandma, how exciting. Please let us know and drive safely. Your dog is so cute and takes up way more room on the bed than my cat.
Hugs to all, Annie

How exciting Myra! Can't wait to hear. And, yes, let's hear it for the dogs! Here are a couple of my puppies. It's a little throwback since they are both quite a bit bigger now.
Annie, I think your DH should go get his car so you can have some fun!

Continuing the car shopping theme, I bought two cars last week! One was out of necessity, it was totaled when my son was rear-ended sitting at a stop sign, the other was impulse. I've always wanted a four-wheel drive vehicle for practical reasons, snow...lots of snow so I test drove a Toyota Venza with four-wheel drive, then I drove a Highlander with four-wheel drive and everything else but the kitchen sink. It even has cooled seated for summer and heated for winter. As I was signing the paperwork for the Highlander, I kept thinking, hmmm how long will I actually get to enjoy this car? Will my husband keep it after I'm gone? You know, the usual end-game thoughts.
On another crazy note, I had my three adult kids and four grandchildren over for Sunday dinner yesterday. We set up our swimming pool but filled it with water from our hot tub and hose so the temp is a comfortable 90 degrees. Talk about spoiling our grandchildren. Anyway, after dinner the little ones were in the pool and kept begging for me to join them...so rather than put on my swimsuit, I dove right in, clothes and all. The kids were shocked that I would be so impulsive. Unfortunately, my daughter filmed the entire episode, which I fear may ended up on Facebook or YouTube one day, but one thing I want after I'm gone is for my grandchildren to know I was the FUN grandma.
I hope you all had a wonderful and fun-filled weekend.

Wow - I'm all for spontaneity and things that bring us pleasure. I bought a used pontoon in May, and every time I'm on it, I congratulate myself for my purchase. And congrats to all of you for your new cars!
Myra - grandma! What good news! I'm more of a dog lover than cats (sorry cat lovers). He looks quite comfy.
Cristina - thinking of you and praying for the right tx and no pain.
Amy - let me know when it gets on Youtube LOL.
Terre - A happy medium between the big C and D would be fabulous.
Annie - hope you're feeling less tired and get that car!
Wishing all of us a good week with good news, less pain and a lot of fun!

Must be a car thing! I also bought a new red shiny car the week after I was re diagnosed. My son totaled the car that we bought him and I took the insurance money and bought myself a new car...passing my 10 year old minivan down to my son. Decided to put myself first for once! No greater motivation for a 22 year old to work his ass off to get a new car then driving your Moms minivan!

Congrats on all the new vehicles, and thank goodness AmyQ and Lynwood your sons weren't hurt (or at least I hope they weren't!) in those accidents. It's been about a year now, but I also bought a new red SUV shortly after I was re-dx'd. I was so sick at the time, I let my DH guide my choice more than I should have because even though this one has all the luxury and safety bells & whistles, I really don't like the red color and believe it's the main reason I got that exorbitant speeding ticket, so I may end up trading it sooner than later and am enjoying hearing what everyone else got.
Oh, and I'm also in the dog-lover camp. Love all the photos. This is Teek, and I need to get off the computer and walk him before it gets any hotter. Headed for a toasty 115+ here today.

Lynwood, I'm still laughing! Right on! We have provided our kids with cars, but I really have to draw the line at providing a second car.
It makes me smile that so many of you are doing things that make you happy. If not now, when? Ok, I gotta go think of a reason to go out today so I can drive my new Jeep! (Really, I wanted this for my husband, but I'm going to take advantage and have some fun while I still can!)

Romansma - You'd think that with all the advancements in cancer treatment there would be something they could give us that doesn't bind you up. So far I'm very disappointed myself. I took the injection of Relistor and nothing. I am hoping they will let me try again. Maybe if I took it when I wasn't so backed up. I started upping the laxatives again today. Was taking little thinking the injection would work. If I take too much (what it takes to move bowels) then I am so sick and can't keep anything down.
I hate seeing everyone in pain. It is depressing. Deanna I also hate to think you blame yourself for not being fun. It is NOT you. It is this terrible disease. It's so far out of our control, all we can do is our best.
Linda- You had boils? I developed one on my belly. Is it cancer related? Hope your scanxiety is not too bad waiting for results.
Dune, Janet and Deanna and everyone else feeling down or not the best.. praying for better days ahead.
Cathy

I just got back from "the chair" and am loving the puppy pictures -- so cute -- and the tales if spontaneous car buying. Whoop. Whoop. Whoop. Way to go!!!
My red blood cells are way too low, so back I go tomorrow for a bag of red. I had no idea transfusions took so long: 3 hours for a bag. Seriously? At least I know why I've been in bed all week.
This week my big C turned into the big D, and now they want to run tests. Gawd. I could really pass on that. I could live my entire life without even thinking about this. Whimper, whimper.
Cathy, thanks for the prayers. I am confident they help. You all get mine every day.
I have the same problem with getting sick when the bowels start moving after doing nothing for a week. I don't understand it at all. I take 2 Senakot -- the kind with the softener mixed in with it -- every morning and every night, whether they are moving or not. Miralax seems to do nothing. Prunes and warm prune juice. My bowels are getting far too much attention!
Congratulations grandma Myra. Be safe and enjoy snuggling that baby.

Hi ladies,
Love all the new car talk. My car has had the check engine light on forever and now the aribag sign went on- WTH? Oh well, it gets me from A to B, so no complaining there.
I saw the oncologist this morning. She's recommending something totally different from the 3 choices my onc had put out there. She thinks I should get the monthly shot of Faslodex plus Palbociclib-Ibrance? She said she would call my onc to tell her. I think I want to try that choice. She said it's better to run through hormonal options first before hitting the chemo. I asked her what Ibrance was and she said a "biologic" not exactly chemo. So that's what's up next for me.
Maybe this combo will help my pain? I don't know.
I'm all for the impulse buying-bought some new clothes from Anthropologie, but will have to return 2 as they don't fit. But total impulse buy as they are expensive. The other impulse is the trip coming up last week of August to Turks and Caicos!! It's another reason I want my pain under control to enjoy that.
I'm a cat lady but my husband and daughter are allergic so no cats for me. I miss having one though. My daughter is dying for a dog--my husband is allergic but maybe one of those hypoallergenic ones would fit the bill. Might be the next impulse buy after vacation. Would be good to comfort the kids while I'm sick.
I love all the photos everyone is posting. Here's one of mine from the iphone, not the best quality. Don't know why it's posting sideways!

Oh and D and C are diarrhea and constipation, right? I have the big C with all my pain meds.
0 -
Dune, hope you will feel like a new woman with those fresh red blood cells charging through you blood tomorrow! Big hugs to you while you wait!
I think Hope may have posted about the mind-boggling cost of Ibrance earlier, but I'm not sure, so wanted to share what I am still trying to wrap my head around. The CVS "Specialty Pharmacy" just called to tell me my Ibrance was approved and to discuss delivery. Thankfully, my co-pay is just $10, but have you all heard how expensive that stuff is??? $11,600 for a 21-day supply. I almost started crying -- just because it's so wrong that women who don't have insurance or a reasonable co-pay are faced with situations like that -- almost $200,000 a year -- and that's just one of two drugs I'll be on at the same time, pending my scan results. WoW!

Cristine, cute kids. I could have some fun there too.
Deanna, that's some pretty scary pricing. Recently another lady commented about having $10 K worth of meds, unopened, that can't even be taken back. Her cancer took over so there's no more treatment for her. Crazy.

Did not check in until now (thinking my head off over the bad scan experience and moving to Dana Farber if I could figure out how to do chemo when the time comes, Deanna, thank you!). So much happening! My belated cheers for those who have had special excitements over the weekend (wild cars and imminent coming of a new grandchild) and my admiring of the beautiful photos of kids and pets. Deanna and LindaE, hope you two have great results of the scans. Dune, so happy for your successful treatment! Terre, saw your new thread and loved it and would go there later to say something. Cathy sorry the injection did not help you yet, hope you will find the right medication soon. Constipation is another highly individual thing.
Update. My onc's nurse called today to let me know that my onc's very happy with the scans' results. I complained about confusions in the CT report. She said that my onc will go over with me Wednesday.
(Edited for typos.)

Deanna, yes Ibrance is exorbitant, but Pfizer has many good payment help for those with private insurance and no non generic coverage. I was able to get a copay card for 5 months then another 6 months directly from Pfizer.
Dune, hope u will be feeling better after your transfusion and Cristina don't forget to visit the Ibrance thread. .lots of good advice on supplements to keep those WBC and immune system working as efficiently as possible.
Best to all...Myra.

Hi All
I apologize if I don't mention you individually today. I just got home from a long day of a neck, chest, abdomen and pelvis CT scan, MRI and thyroid scan and I'm tired. I saw my onc and also got the CT written report. MRI report isn't back yet but we reviewed the images. The long and short of it is, tumors continue to progress especially T-10 where the mets were first found. I've had radiation to that area twice, and surgery and hormonal therapy. The tumors are pressing on my spinal cord which isn't good. I see the nerurosurgeon next for a follow up and also to get a RX for a back brace to help out. The good news is the thyroid nodule is stable and I did not have an allergic reaction this time to the contrast! No new progression but more progression in my ribs, but again those have been radiated twice too. Kind of in Limbo. Got a big hug from my nurse and Onc. Also got a hug from a gentleman who was next to me in the waiting room. ( he was a hoot!) I have to say that I was thinking of all of you in the 1.5 hour MRI. It helped me get through.
Now on to more pleasant things. I bought a convertible 6 years ago when I found out I had mets. Have loved every minute, and a hefty speeding ticket to prove it! LOVE it that some of you got a new car and others are enjoying their past purchases.
I soooo want a kitty. I may go to the humane society tomorrow. Saw a cute one on their site called Herbie. I love seeing pictures from you with families and pets. Post more!
You all have made a positive difference in my life and I'm grateful. Nice to know you were "with" me today. Best to those who are having scans this week. Must go drink more H20....and an Epsom Salt bath is in order. Perhaps a nice glass of wine......

My husband is going to try to show me how to post a picture, here goes!

LIndalou - I had not realized you've been dealing 6 years with mets! You are an inspiration to me. Sorry for the progression and good luck with neurosurgeon. Did you have rads recently? My pubic bone was bigger on scan following rads - it turned out to be inflammation and scarring from rads. We were and will continue to be with you.
Cathy - yes, I had boils in the groin. I would say it started with one in Dec 2014, than 2 beginning of year and a third one was on its way. That's when I said enough is enough! It kept on getting infected once or twice a month. It's not cancer related at all.
Cristina - you got it right on C&D! Good luck on Ibrance. Will you be on Ibrance + Falslodex or Ibrance + Femara?
The cost of Ibrance is indecent. Afinitor is also outrageous. Thank God for insurance and co-pay with Pfizer.
Dune - You'll probably feel better tomorrow after blood transfusion. Testing in that area because of the big D?
Xavo - can't wait to read what your Onc will say. Best wishes to you.
Myra - Are you a grandma yet? We want pics.
Lynwood - great family pic. And your fur baby is beautiful.
No news from my Onc re scan. I have the impression it will be a long week. Scanxiety is really creeping in and I'm trying not to show it. Will take a little magic pill. Wednesday is my pamidronate infusion and my zona vaccine at the same time. And of course, the forecast is better starting Wednesday.

Hi All: I'm so happy for the new cars, new treatments and all that is going well for all of you ! I've been tempted for several weeks to go out and buy a Mini Cooper !
The only thing that helps with my constipation is Magnesium Citrate ! It's at grocery stores ,drug stores, and dollar stores in the pharmacy department. it's liquid and tastes pretty good.It only takes a half bottle or around 6 ounces. If you drink more be prepared to stay home all day, close to the bathroom. I prefer the cherry flavor. My aunt used to buy this all the time and I never knew why. Now I know !

Lindalou, sorry to hear of your progression but 6 years, wow! That's a long stretch, are you bone only? I noticed no chemo in your signature? Have you never done chemo? Maybe it's time for a little of that to calm those bones down. I think you should go get that kitty tomorrow for sure.

Hi All!
I have to get on all this car talk!! We bought a sports car just before my rediagnosis. We call him Clyde & we love him. He is a 2000 Honda S2000. The photo is in the spring up in the Okanagan.
I'm having rads to my spine, rib & sacrum on Wednesday down in Victoria. Going to be a long, long day. We have to leave on the 6am ferry, for a 10am appt, 10:30 CT scan & rads at 1pm. then turn around & head home. It's prime tourist season there & I couldn't find a hotel for less than about $300-$400 for the night & that's just crazy.
Take care ladies, cheers, Dee

Romansma, I'm pretty sure within the next couple of months my dh will have his jeep and I will post a picture! Cute pic of your son and dog. How are you feeling on Xtandi so far?
AmyQ congrats on both cars, they sound very nice and yes I know what you mean about those dark thoughts of how long will I be around to enjoy these things, I really hate it when I go there but it's hard not to. Loved your FUN grandma story, sounds like something I would do. I hope your grandkids got a chuckle out of it.
Linda, still feeling tired, wish it would stop but I'm not letting it stop me. I had a fun weekend.
Cathy, sorry to hear the injection didn't work, there has to be something that will help.
Lynnwood, my car is a copper red, bought it 3 years ago and red isn't really my colour but my girls and dh said I looked like a hot mama in it lol. So I made them happy and got that colour, I really wanted a shiny silver grey colour but the red has grown on me. Love your cat, so beautiful! Who's all in the other picture?
Deanna, your dog is adorable! What a cute picture, and wow it was a hot one there yesterday!
Cristina, beautiful picture of your children having fun. Best of luck with your new treatment, praying for it to knock back those mets and your pain.
Xavo, the call from your onc's nurse sounds encouraging, hopefully it's better than you thought trying to decipher everything. Please let us know.
Lindalou, sorry you had such a long day, that will be me on Thursday. Good to hear you didn't react to the contrast time. Now relax, have some epsom salt baths to detox and go get a kitty. Sorry to hear about the spinal compression, I hope there is something they can do to help.
Dee, good luck with your rads on Wednesday, I'll be thinking of you. Sure sounds like a long tiring day. Your sports car looks like fun and Clyde is a cool name. Funny how people name their cars, my daughter named her last car Dwight 😁 and her new car Lexie.
Hugs to all, Annie

The car talks here definitely are a very healthy sign! No dark clouds! I think history is made by people, and statics is also made by people. We are in the process of making the new statics. We will change the statics by our long term survivals. LindaL, sorry about the progression in T10. But, hey, you are my hero! 6 years of successful confining the devil in your bones?! Dee, why do you need rads? For pain control? I expect my onc to announce his treatment of my severely fractured T9 tomorrow. I hope I could do the procedures. I am wondering if a radiation should go first. Thanks Annie for the comments. I will update the issue later. Lynn, beautiful family pictures. Which fabulous son totaled the car you gave to him? The red Coca Cola?
Everyone else, expecting your posts and have another nice summer day!

Annie, in the picture are my husband and 3 sons. We have been married for 35 years, together for 40. They are my world. Our oldest son has Asbergers which is challenging at times. He is a great help to me with things around the house. Our middle son just got his own apartment a few months ago, he is a job recruiter. Our youngest son just gradusted from college and began his first job as a teacher, part time.He also works at our local Costco. Shame that Costco pays him more then teaching which is his passions..so for now he is working. 2 part time jobs
