Hi all,
Lynne - what great news about your husband. For whatever reason, I think any dyalisis will be temporary, if required at all. And please don't apologise about posting "all about you" - I needed some good news and yours lifted my spirits.
Annie - thank you for posting the pic of Charlene. Also brought a smile to my face. I'm still in shock and mourning, but it helps to remember her bright spirit.
Auroaya - glad you're doing better but so sorry you fell. How scary! Hoping your improvement continues and you're less sore every day.
We're making progress at the house. Keeping busy seems to help with my sorrow. We've had THREE DAYS!!! of sunshine in a row!!!!! Have I mentioned (about 10,000 times) how sick of rain I am? I know those of you in California would love some of our rain, so I'm sorry we have it all. I froze 8 containers of broad beans and 6 containers of peas from the garden yesterday. And one small container of snow peas (we kind of left these a bit late so they became just peas). And we're making progress with mowing. The grass is knee high and still damp, so it's a challenge. Plus we didn't really know how to work the ride-on mower. No straight mowed lines here! Looks like we had too much Christmas cheer and got on the mower for a joy ride. We have more oranges, lemons, grapefruit, and plums than I know what to do with. We have cherries too, but they're not quite ready and the birds are stiff competition. And the apple trees are full of apples - they're still only about 1.5 inches in diameter, but there's lots of them. Will be a challenge to figure out what to do with all this fruit! The feijoas are blooming, so we'll be innundated with them soon. And the figs are getting ripe. All this would be fantastic if I knew how do to things like make jam or do canning without the risk of killing people. Botulism comes to mind. I will probably donate a lot of the citrus to Kitten Inn; she does know how to make marmalade and not kill people with it, and she is selling it in the op shop. As soon as we get the grass somewhat under control, I'll take some pics of the orchard and chickens....we have lots of eggs too!
Hope everyone is having a good day. Sending hugs to all.

Lynne, I sure don't see your posts as me-me-me, and I am sure we all would always want you to come here to share your fears with us. Please never feel an ounce of guilt for seeking support. I'm so sorry you and your DH are both going through so much right now. It's not fair.
The picture of Charlene is beautiful. BC sucks so much. It makes me angry that it took such a lovely woman.
We were sheltered in the closet in our home a couple of times last night. One of the times I thought for sure it was over as the TV news said a big tornado was headed in our direction. Fortunately, that one went back into the clouds. So many people didn't get so lucky, and a family friend lost their home last night. They are physically okay, but their house is gone. I couldn't help but think that amongst the hundreds and hundreds of homes that were damaged that someone in one of those homes is probably experiencing cancer or some other serious illness at the same time. Sobering thought.
Thank you for all the supportive comments about my scan tomorrow. I will admit I'm getting pretty nervous at this point. I'm trying not to waste any energy on the worry, but hey, I'm only human! ha I'm so grateful for all of you here. I think we all feel a little less alone with each other to lean on. Love and hugs to all!

Loveroflife - glad you're ok! Hoping txmom and others in the southeast are ok too. I remember living in Oklahoma City (Moore) and hiding in the bathtub. Ironically, every nasty huge tornado in Moore has missed the house we lived in - wiped out houses around it, but not that house. I don't miss dodging tornadoes. Sending good thoughts and prayers to those affected, such as your friend who lost their home. Sad.
And what you said to Lynne was spot on and well written!

Hey Deanna, thank you that's a great idea, I will post the picture of her there for others to see.
Chelle, no snow here yet, only rain! I really wanted a white Christmas but according to the weather forecast we will ring in the New Year with the white stuff.
Auroya, so sorry about your fall, thank God you didn't break anything!
Terre, wow I could think of a million things to do with all that wonderful fruit, you lucky girl! My daughter who is a chef would be in heaven. Sounds like a fabulous place you got there, so happy for you guys!
Lovelife49, so glad to hear you're ok but sad to hear of your friend. I can't imagine going through something like that, we've been fairly lucky in our area even though we've had several warnings.
Hugs to all, Annie

Introducing Praline to you all, my new life companion.

Thanks, Annie and Terre!
Linda, your new dog is just gorgeous! Snuggling with your pets is the best medicine available.

Linda, omg Praline is absolutely adorable!!! I just want to hug her, she is a beautiful dog. Enjoy your new companion, I am sure she is bringing you much love and happiness.

Oh my dog! Linda! She's beautiful! So regal! I am so happy for you!

Linda,
Praline looks wonderful. I just wanted to reach out and pet her 😊. I am a dedicated dog lover, so I must run and walk my two (Mary Lu and Nala), before I go out for the evening. Have fun with your fur baby

Linda, Praline is so cute. I understand why you decided to make her your own. She has a sweet yet regal face. Her pictures brightened my evening. Thank you for posting them.
Aurora, I am glad that you didn't break anything. I hope your soreness goes away quickly. I also hope that you continue to gain strength and healing every day.
Terre, What a treasure your land is. You have such an abundance of so many varieties of fruits and vegetables. I am envious although I am not confident that I would be the best person to take care of everything. I look forward to seeing pictures.
Annie, We haven't had snow here either. There is a storm forecast for Tuesday. To hear the Boston weather forecasters you would think they were talking about the storm of the century, but I think it will only amount to a few inches here. More is forecast for back home in NH.
Lovelife49, I have never been in a tornado, but it must be terrifying. I am glad you are safe. I am sorry for your friends' loss of their home. It is good that they are safe, but it is so difficult to lose a home and possessions. It takes a while to rebuild and replace.
Enjoy your night. Stay safe and comfortable.

Now that there are dogs involved, mind if I jump in? I was dx with bone mets about a month ago, altho I have been feeling the pain for the past year. I was going to a chiropractor for 6 months trying to heal the pain in my hip and grew frustrated when nothing seemed to help.
Last January I thought it was a good sign that he never ordered x-rays. Now I try not to think that we could have caught the cancer nearly a year earlier if he had.
Here's a picture with me and Charlie, who is my canine soul mate. This was right after chemo #2. He is so in tune with me and never leaves my side on bad days. I am so very fortunate to have him.

Noni, Welcome. Charlie seems to be looking at you intently as if he is looking out for you and ready to keep you safe. He is obviously devoted to you.
Here is a picture of my grandson with his dogs, Maggie and Max.Maggie and Max. Maggie and Max aresiblings.

Maggie and Max are beautiful.

Oh, Linda, what a gorgeous dog! Congratulations on finding each other! You're both very lucky! And love that you've made her your avatar pix.
And love seeing everyone else's fur babies, as well as your handsome grandson, Lynne, with those gorgeous Goldens! I'll post one of my fur baby soon.
Noni, try not to beat yourself up about missing an earlier opportunity to find your mets. It's happened to a lot of us. Unfortunately, things always look a bit clearer in hindsight. Was your original surgical pathology 100% DCIS?

welcome noni, glad you have found us. I also had back pain for about two years before they found the cancer. Although I do have ILC and IDC, my bone mets are ILC. They are much harder to see in scans. My GP did order X-rays last year, the mets in my pelvis and femurs looked like arthritis. So I accepted that as a reason for my pain. Then I had a routine mammo. The shit hit the fan and I'm stage IV right out of the gate. But on a high note... I was dx and treated with tamoxifen in september. My recent scan on the 15th showed much improvement. So as our lovely Caryn says " life does not end with a stage IV dx, really"!!
Love all of the doggies!!!

love. - good luck on your scan tomorrow
Lindae. - praline is adorable. Thanks for posting pics. Think we all need a pic to smile about
Lynn. - glad your dh is healing. Please don't feel you are talking to much about it
I have a pet scan tomorrow. I generally don't worry much. Freaking out a little this time. Just that I've been off Ibrance for low counts so !much and have even missed or been delayed in Falsodex shots due to hospital stays. Can't see how I can stay STABLE if I am not getting the meds. I have a mo appt Thursday so won't have to wait too long for results.
Hugs All around

oh patty, you have been through so much. I'm praying for a good scan! How are you feeling? Have you been able to keep any nutrients down? I have thought about you often. Love Chelle.

doing better today. No more more v&d. Just feel weak and tired.

Hi everyone. I second noni. I read daily but the dog postings pull me in. I have a cocker spaniel as well. Gracie. Don't know what I would do without her. Feeling like a failure today. Lasted 7 weeks on aromasin. Have a hysterectomy scheduled on the 7th of January. I reached a point over this past week that I was totally unable to move due to the pain. I went through the same thing with femara. Lasted 5 weeks on that one. I have a very tolerance to pain. It was unbearable. I stopped the aromasin today Don't know what the oncologist will say in a week. I have 2 masses on my ovaries. I don't think they are highly suspicious for cancer. I am hoping the antihormonals targeted those ovaries and I will be more successful when they are out. I don't know. You are all inspirational. mary Anne

Well thank the lord for that! Maybe now you can become stronger. Do you have an appetite? Or does the thought and smell make you feel sick? Did the upper GI and colonoscopy show any reason for your problem

The little fluff is Stevie Wonderdog. The hungry looking beagle is Allie McBeagle.
Noni, I also could have caught mine a year earlier, and maybe my life would be different. But, I guess that isn't uncommon with cancer.
Patti, good luck on your scans.
Mab, sounds like you have a lot going on. I hope you get some better news from your ONC in two weeks.
Cute dogs everyone!

Can't remember if I posted this before, but since dog pics are making people smile... This is my Pom, Nala, being held dangerously close to our Thanksgiving turkey by a family friend.

This is Mary Lu. She was found by a dumpster and was pregnant. My hair stylist rescued her and I adopted her after her puppies were weaned. She is very loving though still a bit traumatized by her life on the streets

Caryn, I love how Nala is licking her lips as she looks at the turkey. It's so great you rescued MaryLu. We rescued Stevie. I love that we saved him. Now he is such a snuggle love.
I think we needed these lighthearted doggie posts. It's been a heavy couple of days around here.

Love the cute doggie posts! Yes, I have cats. Lots of cats. But I also love dogs. Plan to adopt one when I retire; probably a retired farm dog would be best for me. An older dog in any event.
I don't have any dogs of my own, but in addition to helping at Kitten Inn, I also help out at HUHA - Helping You Help Animals. They mostly rescue dogs, but basically any animal in need can go to HUHA. Currently, in addition to the resident dog(s), they have a magpie with a broken wing and a baby pig. Here they are relaxing at Christmas.
