Hi hermits- I have slept in until 8 a.m. the past few mornings, which feels good after a crazy week. But I ended the week on a good note having dinner with a friend/colleague from my current client site who I have not really seen much in the past couple years. We enjoyed some great food, wine, and time catching up on many things.
Since we like to talk about food here sometimes, I have to tell you about this delish appetizer we had. Called saganaki, and it is greek kasseri cheese that is prepared flaming by your table side! It is topped with cognac, flamed, and doused with a half a fresh lemon. The warm cheese is served with fresh pita bread. It was one of the best appetizers I have had anywhere ever!
Attached is a photo of our server preparing the flaming cheese at our table.

Hey girlfriend......at first look I thought it was you doing your thing......sounds delish.........

Jazz.......going to my daughters today to help her prepare for a birthday tomorrow for her FIL.....how she got into this is insane, ;but sometimes things happen.........it was just 7 of us, and gradually the very people who were having nothing for "their father"........decided to ask if they could come to dinner at her house where the father was going to be......Not dessert mind you...........DINNER...........she said yes...........now her quiet dinner for 7 has turned into a eating and drinking party for 17.........while his own kids did nothing................of course my SIL, but who does all the work...........Yep....my daughter......that is why I am helping her..........she works every day....takes care of her kids............is not very healthy.......and is training a new puppy getting up in the middle of the night to put Stella out..........so I ask you...........what were they thinking................and no one will clean up the mess but her and I....................oh well shit happens.............

Ducky- there is an old expression, when you want something done, give it to a busy person! Your daughter may be one of those people. I used to plan big parties for my family long ago, 40th for my sister, a 70th for my dad, I even planned my own 50th birthday party! Whenever there is something to be planned, everyone thinks I might take it on! I am a project manager by trade and therefore it makes me a very good planner, but will say in my free time, I don't wanna plan squat! So here is what I have learned, everyone wants a party, reunion, etc. but very few people want to help do anything about it.
That being said, I hope everything goes well with the party.
And thanks for thinking I am that young girl, but much older, fatter and blonder than she!

Ducky---blah hate to do those things anymore--Good Luck.
Jazzy I love u'r pics and oh I've eaten that before and it is good. There are a few Greek dishes I really enjoy and that's one of them. Yrs. ago I dated (for about 2 yrs) a Greek man and I really loved him, and it was time for him to get married and then he told me he had to marry a Greek Girl--But --wait but--I could be his girlfiend forever cuz that's how he loved me-hahaha it did break my heart but I left him and he'd call me every couple of months for about 8-9 yrs never saw him tho. That's why I ate so much of their food. I know that was not interesting it just reminded me of it. hahaha
I was crazy busy yesterday and a few calls today---got some straight thru sleep tho and Jazzy I'm glad u did too.
Teka u'r posting more than I am.

Dwill hope you feel better soon
I took a holiday from letrozole and it helped a lot, and se's were less afterwards but it made me. Really depressed and affected my sleep so i changed to aromasin, but that now is affecting my joints just less than letrozole, and it makes me gain weight too, its all a pile of ****

There u go Lily, u'r right it is a pile of chit this whole thing and just ciz u'r finished with the treatments doesn't mean it stops.

Lily thanks for the info.........my sleep has not been affected at all by the AI....of course I would get the shitty SE's instead of the easier ones.........I'll take hot flashes any day over feeling like a cripple........I would also take less sleep too over thinning hair, neuropathy in your feet, trigger fingers, and looking like a dried up old prune..................thinking with my luck I would go back from a Letrozole vacation, and add hot flashes and insomnia to the ones I already have......
Face it....it all sucks......never gained weight.....lost a little but gained nothing.....my MO said that alone is a miracle......she said most do...........well big deal.......thanks for small favors............its all bull crap....right......

Jazzy just got back from my daughter's ........very little to do..........22 pieces of sausage, and 50 meatballs....made the gravy.....we work well together.......tomorrow will be salad, bread at her house, but before I leave here I will make the lb cake for his birthday.
I told her today.......you did not need this shit......I said "maybe I am mean, but damn it I'm thinking of you"...........she said "you are Mom"...........I said bull shit............it was only 2 years ago that whole friggin family was not talking to you, your husband (their son), and had not seen your kids, (their grandchildren for over 5 years because his younger sister is an asshole"..................she forgives a lot easier then I do............you don't hurt my kids.......ever.......and they[ did...........now they are back in the picture, and its all lovey dovey..................said to her "YEA TILL THE NEXT TIME"............imagine he has a wife, (who does shit)............3 daughters, and another son with a wife..............they did not want to do anything........then then brother said in a text tonight.....who could buy and sell my daughter......"thanks for doing this for my father"....................REALLY.............oh well.....why am I telling you this.........LOL..............venting done............LOL..............Love my daughter....

Ducky- you are a good mom to make your daughter aware she is doing a bit too much for people who may not really appreciate her. I think we all see things like this so clearly after all we go through, but others do not. It is frustrating to see people we love being taken advantage of!
I have had a low energy day and decided to opt out of the party tonight. Big drinking parties not my thing, but want to find a way to celebrate with this friend so I e-mailed him and said cannot make it, but would like to meet up at one of our fav nearby places soon. Going to let the party folks party, and do something with he and his wife separately. Maybe I just need to learn these big parties are not my thing anymore.
The friend I was going to meet tomorrow for brunch and the gym had to opt out. So I will do the gym and some other things tomorrow I need to do. I gave myself more time at home this weekend, which I need. I realized I got over-committed in the end, but now am back into balance.
Cami- I dated a guy who was half Greek and got to enjoy lots of good food at his parents. His mother told him I was an "old maid" at 28 and that no one wanted me so he should not marry me either. I was stunned, as I knew him for years before we dated. The relationship ended. I always suspected the mother wanted him to marry a Greek girl too. I like the food better than the men! LOL!

Jazzy.......OMG......the nerve of her...........28.....................my grandson got married last year..........he married a girl who was 2 years older then him..........she was 30..............how dare that woman, so rude...........and he listened to her..............you did not need him..................unless you had a huge pair of scissors to cut the cord before you would marry him.............sure she would have been a butinsky the whole time......................Horrible woman..........well at least you enjoyed the food....
I imagined you young like Kathec............just thought you might be.......I am an old broad.....been around the block more times then I care to share.........LOL........closer to "on way out, then on my way in".......LOL..........
Yes take care of you.............told that to my daughter before leaving her tonight........like I said "I can forgive you when you hurt me.............don't ever hurt or take advantage of my kids"............then you meet the "LION"..........

DD dated a Greek boy in college. I *thought* he was a nice boy. He flat out told her he couldn't marry her, had to marry a Greek girl. That's not why, but if I saw him today I'd still try to hurt him. Ugly story, involved the law.

Hi hermits- I think back on those things that happened in my twenties that I would now say FU, to quite frankly. Teka, you made me laugh with the punching him in the junk comment.
Ducky- I might be around the same age as Kathyec. I am going to be 54 in a few weeks. Just not as young as the girl in the photo from last night that I posted tho....
Took a nice nap and up for awhile and going to take a warm bath tonight. Bit of self care tonight with rest and a soak! Had a bit of D today. Cami, are you doing any better with that right now?
Teka- I saw that cat lady barbie on FB a few weeks ago. One of my friends now has it as her profile pic there! LOL!
Hoping everyone had an okay Saturday.

Jazzy thought you were much younger..........have no idea why..........I have a birthday next month, only I won't be 54.............LOL
0 -
Ducky- I like to think of myself young at heart, maybe that is why? What day is your birthday?

Jazzy so glad you opted out....and glad you are taking care of yourself...DW, I am not a teacher but went to many sped conferences. love that, glad you are doing something for yourself...

Teka I like the cat lady Barbie---
Blondie I hope u feel better.
Ducky u'r DD is probably just trying to keep the peace.
Oh I didn't mean to down Greek people really some of my dear friends are greek but they are very hovering moms-haha In all fairness I did date another Greek man a couple of yrs later and he didn't care what his family wanted only I didn't want to marry him. So my only mistake with him was he wanted to take me to Greece and I dodn't go--I was so stupid. Oh well.

Jazzy..........April 24th..................Honestly it goes by so fast.........can't believe I am going to be 79........WOW now that is an old broad...........LOL.......
We have so many birthdays in April it is crazy, but then again we are a big family......1 grandaughter, and 2 grandsons.........all April..........then me........but no one celebrates anymore because they are all older, and they do their own thing...........which is fine.............and now I have a great-grandaughter due to be born...........you guessed it........April........LOL
I told the grandkids................No more summer babies...............your killing my weekends down the shore.............LOL

Hi hermits- staying in yesterday was just what I needed. Quiet evening, warm jetted tub bath to relax before bed, a little tv, etc.
It was cold a blustery day yesterday, got a bit of rain again too. I did do some outside yard clean up work to remove some of the garden debris. I have a bit of that to do out back this morning, along with a number of other things, then some errands and a trip to the gym. Back into the fray today.
Blondie- so sorry to hear about your breathing problems again. From the mets or something else? I know prednesone usually helps. Keeping you my prayers for better days.
Ducky- be proud of 79. I always like to say getting older is a priviledge denied to many. You have lots of family birthdays in April, something to look forward to! And I loved the comment about the summer babies. Summer by the shore is so great back east, but a short season! Another thing to look forward to.
Teka- love the posting about walls/friends. So very true!
Wishing everyone a good Sunday.

Jazzy......yes so many don't make it to 79....my husband was 57.........the one thing I was looking forward to was making it to 50 year anniversary......
I sometimes wonder how it would have been had he lived......he saw so much, but missed so much too...when he died we had 9 grandchildren the youngest just 1 year old......he is now 24......the oldest grandaughters at that time (twins) were 9 they are now 31 with babies of their own (one is Grayson's Mom.our twin) some remember his some don't......but his picture has been shown and loved by all who did not know him......in their eyes he never died.........and he was so loved by his children all 6.......did they have their squabbles.........hell yea........but because he was such a good father they are all very successful......2 own their own construction companies......and of those 2 1 also owns his own Physical Therapy facilities where his son has a degree in physical medicine....the other works in the business too.........plus he also has an "all state" Volleyball player at Widener University as a freshman....another of my daughters is a V.P. for GlaxoSmithlkline Pharma.....and her sister is an Executive Coordinator for the same company....another daughter works as Director of Physical Medicine for my son also........the oldest son is a Director for the biggest Commercial Real Estate Co. in Delaware County........so he did a good job........but how they miss him..........
So you are right I should be glad I am hitting 79 even with all my bumps and bruises, aches and pains..........'at least I'm alive...........
So you have a good day ....be good to yourself, and by the way Jazzy....I have a daughter your age....LOL they are 56, 55, 54, 50, 48, 45........LOL I was busy for a while...........
0 -
Ducky- wow, you were busy! I know you have shared lots about your children here. You seem to have a really lovely big family.
And I understand your thoughts about your husband and the "what ifs." Although it was not a spouse, I had a brother who left our family sooner than expected. He passed away at 40, and it changed the family dynamics for our family forever. I am sorry you lost your husband so early and did not make it to your 50th anniversary. Hugs.
Lily- how are you doing today?
Teka- there is a large grey Maine coon sitting by my birdfeeder this morning. Made me think of you!

Jazzy I always like to hear when u have a good day of relaxing u deserve it so and still need it, so u just do it.
Teka relaxing post.
I hope everyone has a good day today, the sun is out here but chilly.

Ducky, were the 3 oldest all in diapers at one point? Yikes! Did you have help?
Blondie and Jazzy, I hope you two take real good care of yourselves so healing happens smoothly.
Good morning Teka and Cami.
I started a cold while DH was in the hospital with a COPD exacerbation this past week. He is home now, so I am going to have an "in the recliner resting" day to shoo the cold away.
I hope everyone does something nice for themselves today.

Jazzy...I probably bore the hell out of people talking about my family, but I am so proud of all of them........my children especially.........so many times when you have a large family.....lots of kids, there is always someone waiting for you to foul up somehow..............People think......lots of kids, lots of problems.........and sometimes that is true.........but my husband and I made sure there was more then enough love to go around.........they were spoiled with "love", not with "things"..........my daughters always tell the story of their 1st Barbie...............their friends had "Barbie".......my girls had $1.00 Store fake Barbie..........LOL..........and the funnier thing was their youngest sister (the baby) who came along several years later.....had a "real Barbie"............she never lived that down..........
When I had my cancer......I was smothered with love and concern....this past Wednesday was 3 years since my surgery...............I got 24 phone calls, text messages, and FB messages............one from each of my children and grandchildren saying "keep on fighting"..........it doesn't get better then that..........my children made a promise to their father the day he died........he said to them "take care of your mother".........they kept that promise.......
So sorry if I bore people, I am just an overly proud Mom I guess........I am blessed.......
0 -
Ducky- you don't bore us, you share such nice things about your family. I have so little family anymore, and look at all the children and grandchildren surrounding you that love you with such admiration. They love you and want you around to share their lives with them. It is a blessing for sure.
I have been feeling a bit frustrated with having too many piles around here that never get dealt with. So today I am focusing on putting some things in piles while are either 1) things to find a home for 2) things to take to consignment 3) things to donate or 4) that which needs to be tossed! Helped me to get some surfaces cleared off and things processed. The beginning of spring cleaning I think.
I had some errands to run today and found myself at a Trader Joe's and found this beautiful bunch of gladiolas for $5.99. Decided I needed a bit of spring time in my house this week.
Here are the glads.....
