Hello all my Hermit friends! It's been a few days since I've posted, but I've been keeping up with all of you. It's usually really late by the time I get on here (like tonight too!) and I'm just too darn tired to do much posting. I have a horrible habit of staying up too late. Our weather has been absolutely wonderful - in the 80's and sunny. Got lots of weeding and fall clean up done this weekend. My veggy garden is slowing down, but still getting tomatoes, tomatillos, bell peppers, jalapeños, kale, swiss chard, artichokes, beans and carrots. This will all come to an end very soon. I have lots of tomato sauce and green salsa verde in the chest freezer now! Haven't gotten my mammogram results yet. If I don't get a call back, which I hope I don't, I'll just get a letter in the mail saying everything was fine. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Fingers crossed

Thanks Blondie. - What are you doing still awake?!
0 -
Blondie, thanks for asking ... I am fine. Although it's the middle of the night here, I am wide awake, so thought I would check in.
Jazzy, wow ... what an exciting day you had yesterday. I hope the police catch the bad guys.
Hi Monis.

Morning fellow Hermits! Just taking a few minutes before I get moving and start my day. Got so much to do and so little time to get it done!
0 -
Hermits- up early and out the door for a early morning meeting, but with a bit of time to hopefully catch some balloons in flight next to the park where I am working.
Mags- I am concerned about your shortness of breath. I have had that before with my asthma, but we know our bodies the best and it sounds like you know something feels different and not right. Important to go get checked out, perhaps an X-ray to make sure nothing else is going on as Blondie says. Let us know what you find out!
Hope everyone has good day.

Mags, be well! Thinking of you today.
Jazzy, i thought I had an exciting hood. Scary stuff, hope all is well tonight.
Enjoying my last few days of no SE freedom before Friday's chemo-prison. I suppose this would be a furlough? Taping a zombie marathon, woohoo! I feel sort of apocalyptic as of late and it seems to fit. Not doing much else today, cleaned a bit and running a few arrands later.
Thinking of getting a rug hook kit at the craft store, getting such cabin fever. Also, it will be too hot here for me to get outside alot next week. I have zero tolerance to heat now.
Happy Tuesday Hermies!
PS Teka, we would have a spa day!

Pneumonia. How the heck?
0 -
Doing cultures, hanging one bag of antib then home. Still at ER.
0 -
Can I come to spa day? So far 2 blown veins.
0 -
Owwww mags! That hurts!
Ct scan was pretty quick today, didn't have to drink that awful tasting crud. Only had the IV wooooooo hooooooo
0 -
Mags, so sorry about the pneumonia.
MOmmy, glad your CT went better than expected.

Finally home. Almost 6-1/2 hours. Chest X-Ray was clear, CT showed scattered pockets of pneumonia, so very mild case.
When I got there they wanted to do an IV. "I have a port." They don't like to use the port because of they risk of infection. Why the heck do I have it? So they try to find a vein. Blow out one on back off hand. Finally find one in the base of the thumb. Every movement pinches. Then the CT tech comes in, they need a larger needle in an elbow vein for the dye. "I have a port!!" So they finally agree to do the port. The LPN has never accessed a port, the RN is teaching her - on me! She can't get it, he finally does, the CT tech looks and it's the wrong port. They go off looking for the right port, redo the port, take me for CT. Doc comes in and gives the dx and tx. Anything else? Headache. All day. He asks do I want morphine. Ibuprofen, I say. It took two hours to get it.
So they have to do blood draws to culture, and have to do from 2 sites. Can't use the IV because it's doing a drip. They use the port for one, then have to find another vein. Oops, one more blow out. Different nurse finds one.
Finally, time to leave. I've sent DH home, cousin goes to get the car, aide wheels me out. I get in the car and realize I don't have any paperwork or rx. Cousin goes back in, LPN brings paperwork, rx, and apology. It's her second day there.
That was my day. I'm bushed.

Sorry to hear about your day Mags! Hate it when the nurses blow out my veins, for about a week I look like I got into a fight from all the blown veins!

There's an alternative, Onco. If you play in your browser it requires java. But there's a free, safe downloadable client. It doesn't require java, and that's what I've always used. But there should be videos on the site if you want to see.

Wow- a lot to catch up on here.
Mags- I am so sorry about the pneumonia, and all the challenges in the hospital, but it sounds like you got what you needed and hope you can rest well tonight. I hope you can take it easy and feel better soon.
Mommy- I hope the CT scan results are good.
Teka- if I could spend a day with you, it would be in your gardens or mine, looking at all the flowers and talking about them in detail. Maybe sitting under a tree with some nice coffee with leaves falling all around us with the fall season.
Made it through 2 very busy days at work. Talked to a good friend there I had not seen yet and who did not know I was back there PT. She was getting ready to invite me to her 60th birthday party end of the month. I seem to know a lot of people turning 60 this year (it will be the 3rd of 4 60th celebrations this year). I look forward to it.
No work tomorrow, but full day of personal things and my class in the evening.
Drove next to the park today while all the balloons went up. More pics soon!

Hi everyone, hope you all have a good hump day tomorrow. Me, I'll be in the infusion chair with round three of taxol/herceptin. At least I get a good nap out of it! That benadryl knocks me out.
Tonite I stepped out of my hermit shoes and went out to dinner with a couple of girlfriends. We went to Texas Roadhouse and then a little shopping. It was a nice change to get out of the house.
