Hi hermits- my day of self care is just divine. Did some exercise with the personal trainer, stopped at the health food store on the way to the spa for some good eats and some additional supplies for the fridge. Then some soaking and a facial. My face is happy, as is my body and soul. Now I am home relaxing for the rest of the day. My mini-retreat from the world today.

Mags- wow, that is a lot of people to cook for. The most I have ever cooked for was 4-5, which is the zone I will be in this year. I hope you, DH and the cousin can keep it simple and just enjoy a quite day with some food you enjoy.

Sally- thanks for telling me I have such good energy. I always was a high energy person, but the appendix rupture and bc in 2012 knocked me flat for awhile. Many months of not being able to do much of anything, except some part time work for awhile. This personal training I am doing has made the biggest difference in my energy. Not that you have to work with a trainer to get there, but she has made me realize exercising some every day makes a huge difference for me on so many levels. So keep talking those walks, 20 minutes is good!

Onco- you are right, after bc, every lump is worrisome.

Time to go watch a movie. Hope everyone has a good rest of the day.....

I actually wasn't worried until the radiologist said biopsy. Now I'm just going to not think about it. Until I have to.

Teka- how about all us hermits come to your place for dinner? The pies sound delicious.

I do miss the family Thanksgivings I had back east back when there were more people with us. We used to have more folks around back then. Since I have lived out here in NM, I have spent most of my Thanksgivings with friends which has been nice too. Almost every year I do something different. This year it will be with family.

Mags- I have had lots of biopsies in my life. Most of them were negative, until one was positive. You just have to find out what is going on and take it from there. Worry helps nothing, although easier said than done. We are all here wishing the very best for you around this.

Since its just going to be me, hubby and our furbabies, I'm making a small Thanksgiving dinner. We're having a turkey breast, turnips, potatoes, homemade rolls, veggies, cranberry sauce, gravy and 2 pies (pumpkin and apple).

The week before Thanksgiving I make the rolls and then freeze them and the pies I'll make the day before Turkey Day. Glad I won't have to have hubby doing a lot of the cooking this year as I did last year because of the surgery.

hi hermies, I love hearing all about your thanksgiving plans and menus. I just love this time of year! I won't let breast cancer ruin it for me either. My oncologist just called to say that my white counts are down, and I did have a slight elevated fever of 99° this morning. So I'm going on Cipro just as a precaution against bladder infection. I'm very glad to hear this because I do feel very icky today and just have no energy. I had a feeling something wasn't right!  DH will pick up my prescription later, so I plan to spend the weekend just relaxing and not overdoing anything.

if I don't post for couple days, everyone have a wonderful weekend I'm thinking of you all.

  • Mags, your table setting is lovely.  I hope the biopsy turns up nothing serious so it sets your mind at ease.  Waiting is the hardest part.  Thinking of you.

Hope everyone else is hanging in there! :)

Hi hermits- crazy busy day today, but nice dinner with a friend/colleague and some great conversation about many things tonight. I opted out of any wine consumption as my hardest personal training day is tomorrow, and last time I went to a biz event on a thursday and did personal training the next day, I suffered for it. Having good work outs are more important to me than booze these days.....

Mo- your dinner sounds delicious. Home made rolls sound yummy. I think making dinner may help you feel some normalcy this year after last year.

Teka- that cartoon cracked me up!

Bippy- I hope you feel better and that the meds kick in. Lots of rest, as Teka says.

Onco- we love having you here, but also understand the need to step away sometimes. I have done it at times, especially around some threads that can be too heavy for me. Lurking is good too. And if you feel the need to move on from this site, I understand that too.

Holiday season is hard anyways. Despite my upbeat attitude you often hear on this thread, end of the year holidays are  not my favorite time of the year. Because most of the people I used to spend those holidays with are now gone. Since my brother died, the holidays have never felt the same to me. But like many who face losses in life, we do the best we can with what remains. Many years I just go off the radar from Thanksgiving until New Years. It all depends on what is going on. I respect everyone's need to celebrate or totally avoid this time of the year.

Maiden- good to hear from you and hope you are doing okay?

Time for bed after a long day and evening. Hope everyone has a warm and comfy night. Let me know if it snows anywhere too!

    Hi Hermies.

Onco I know we all understand--just want u to feel good that' all.

Mags (HUGS) for all results. That pic was so cute putting all the tables together made me LOL cuz we used to do the same thing, it took days to do everything and set up for one day.

I'm on my usual anti -B for a while, feel like chit, look worse.

Lovin' all the holiday talk from years ago--missing so many now but of course more have been added and making everything sounds so yummy==pies (yum) and MO homemade biscuits,, haven't done any of that in years

It got chily here today and a little busy with work and lots busy with stupid drs. I shouldn't say that they watch me so carefully for everything so I shouldn't complain. but I do anyway.

OK going to try to sleep, just couldn't yet?????

TGIF Hopeing everyone has a good weekend.

Onco, as they used to say in the Motel 6 commercials, we'll keep the light on for ya. I understand your need to step away, but don't be a stranger.

I did make a good share of last year's Turkey Day dinner except I couldn't lift the turkey from the oven nor could I lift my bread maker to make the dough for the rolls, they were a bit over the lifting restrictions that my BS had me on following surgery. I always roll my homemade rolls in a cinnamon/sugar mix before they are baked.

onoco, it is my first year here, but i get you. I was on a support board during my dad's long illness and eventual death, and right after I just had to stop going there. I may also join you in the absence, holidays are difficult for me too, as like Jazzy, all my special beloved family are gone. Just do whatever is right for you.

Feelin better this am good thing too, as I am off for a special onco massage!  She is also certified in treating lymphoma/prevention, so she may become a good resource. All I know is I am tight as a rope in my shoulder muscles.

    Mags, thinkin of you.

    My Hermies, TGIF!

Overcast and in the 40s here today. Went for a milk run to the corner store and I felt like I should have been bundled up like an Eskimo!  Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Good morning hermits- I am watching the Today Show and seeing there is a polar vortex coming to the middle of the country and over east. Bundle up peeps! It is chilly here this morning, but clear and sunny. Evening temps are down in the mid 30s at night but so far, no hard freeze yet.

I bought some organic cranberry sauce the other day. Another thing off my Thanksgiving dinner purchase list.....

Going to my hardest work out of the week this morning. Cardio/core day with the personal trainer. Then home to finish up some work for the week, including a conference call for something I could not get through yesterday with my client.

Back from the gym, and my trainer kicked my butt this morning, as she always does on "cardio core" day. My body is really feel strong though 9 weeks into this intensive program. After next week, we go down from 3 to 2 days a week and then my personal training program will be wrapping up the week before Xmas. Then it is MY JOB to keep up my fitness and continue to loose the lbs.......

Today Bippy and DH are going for a bike ride in the hood, then finishing travel trailer for our weekend camping next Friday. Sooo lookin forward to it! Our bike club will be there too, cannot wait to see them. My WBCs must be bouncin back, feel ok this morning.

Best to all, have a nice Saturday

Good morning hermits- hope everyone is waking up to a nice day. I am going to go do some jazzy music jamming this morning, which I have not had time to do in over a month. I miss my music peeps!

Footprints- this is a great thread, one of the first I found when I first joined two years ago and has been my favorite all the way along. Nice ladies here in all stages with this junk, from those in active treatment, to post treatment follow ups (me), and those living with this disease. We try to be a friendly non judgmental place for people to share whatever is going on, good or bad. We have a few laughs here too. We hope you will stay, and be part of the conversation.

Bippy- you must be feeling better to take a bike ride. Good for you!

I went one year back in the 1980s to Howard Johnsons with a friend for Thanksgiving. We were both struggling with some family issues at the time with our families of origin, and decided to opt out of the family get togethers. We had a great time, and no dishes or family drama either!

    Mags- how are you doing?

Lili- are you out there and let us know how you are doing too please? Good or bad, we are hear to listen.

Hope everyone has a day of feeling good.Happy

Good morning, Hermies. I am recovering from my first evening out. Our church hosted the Gaither Vocal Band last night; we got tickets a couple of months ago on faith that I'd be up to it, and I did ok. It's a huge church (sanctuary holds 3200 people) so a lot of walking. But the performance was great, lots of audience participation, lots of comedic relief. I actually put on a bit of makeup, a touch of mascara on my twelve remaining lashes, wore my wig, looked mostly normal. It was a good evening, but long. We had to get there early as it was sold out and we wanted to have decent seats, and it ended around ten, so I went right to bed when we got home. DH was energized, and stayed up til 2. This morning I am sore all over, my knees hurt bad, but I'm glad I went. It's the first time I've been to church since my surgery. I felt pretty self conscious, just not used to the wig, I put some body tape on my head, so I knew it wasn't creeping up, but it felt like it. DH took a pic of me and my cousin, so I'll let you be the judge. Don't know why my cheeks are so chubby.
