Lago, yep you are correct. I got the magnify glass out. Mine has a 1 and then nv underneath. Not sure about the v, looks like a upside down h. Anyway it is very faint.

Lago - Sounds like the chain retail drug stores vary from region to region or possibly even from store to store.  My mail-order price with OptumRX is great, but they aren't able to offer choices with generics.

    Thanks!

I have been taking Anastrozole for about for 7 months,  I have some stiffness in the morning, but it goes away after I start moving, occasional leg pain, goes away with exercise.

It is manufactured in Florida by Apotex Corp, CVS says it is not their choice, but being that I stared with this company

and I've had very few side effects, I asked if they could special order it for me, and up till now they have been doing it.

Hi Lago, this is going to sound atrocious, but for whatever reason... I never actually received a information sheet to look at *sighs*. All I got was the box the tablets are in and my prescription repeats, all contained nice and neatly in a clip seal bag.

I did have a look online for information, and it did help me a bit. Although as you'll probably be aware, most of the available information is aimed at the ladies. Sadly, men on Arimidex, as a treatment.... seems to be more of a special case scenario.

Abaling (and anyone else looking for more info), go to arimidex.com.  Find the link, way down at the bottom, that says "full Prescribing Information."  On the next page, you'll click on the PDF with all the info.  Way at the bottom of that, you'll find a phone number for more info.  That may take you through a few gatekeepers, but you should be able to ask for an in-house pharmacist.  Personally, I'd ask to speak with a PharmD (pharmacy version of PhD).

Tina, like you, use OptumRx for the price and 90-day supply.

Abalinga81 I believe it is required to get this information with your meds when they dispense it. I would go back and ask them for this.

Lago, that's exactly the impression I was under too... but thinking about it I'm not sure it's compulsory anymore. I'd spoken with the specialist and was given a run down of a few of the things I could expect. A few of these things I'm experiencing weren't in that rundown. I think part of the problem with the pharmacy is that they might have assumed I knew all about it and didn't give it to me.

I Live in Australia and I've been noticing a number of times that pharmacies (not just the one) haven't given out the info sheet for the various meds of mine (the last few times).. fortunately these are ones I've been using for quite a while and know them inside out.. I think there's been a legislation change (if I was being cynical, probably to save paper) in my state regarding this.. suffice to say I didn't actually notice until I got home (that pharmacy is a good hour drive away). You're right, I should've (still should) contact them.

BrooksideVT, that piece of information regarding the PDF was amazingly wonderful, it also lists a number of the symptoms I'm suffering.. I'm inclined to think it may well be the same thing the pharmacy would print me off, only with more information.

Thank you for the help so far to everyone who's replied, I'm appreciating it hugely lots :)

I suspect it is the same thing the pharmacy would have printed out, only in larger type!

Been away on vacation, so much to catch up on.  I went off Anastrozole about 12 days ago.  I had some short dizzy spells on day 2 and day 3, and nothing since.  MO said try for 3 weeks then call him.  I have echo cardiogram stress test scheduled for next Tuesday, just to rule out heart related issues.  The last thing I want to do is go through zillions of tests, so keeping my fingers crossed that it was drug side effect.

Abalinga81 The rules might be different in AU than in the USA.

Pat- I went off anastrozole for a month last year in November, then back on in early December. I had several dizzy spells off and on the first few weeks after starting up again. I remember the pharmacist told me dizziness was a SE, especially when first starting on it (or restarting it). I did not experience it when I started, only when I restarted.

I hope your dizziness is just related to the med change.

*nods* the rules would have to be different now.. they never used to be.. even a year or so ago I always got info sheets for everything. This change over here only seems to have happened in the last few months.

And Pat01, as has been said, this stuff does a really good job at causing dizziness and oddness (for lack of better words). I noticed it within days of taking them..

Which makes this thought randomly pop into my head for the first time ever... A few years ago I used to use Stemetil to treat bouts of vertigo (vertigo was actually the reason I stopped ballet), does anyone know if it can be used to help counteract the fuzziness/dizziness caused by the Anastrozole.

Abalinga81 that is a question you must ask your doctor. Drug interactions can be serious. You need to find out if it's OK to take these drugs together.

'Fuzziness' is one thing, dizziness is another. Dizziness you need to get checked out by your doctor, and the sooner the better.

Thank you both for the highly relevant responses. In my case, it's far more fuzziness and lightheadedness, but it feels very similar to before when I used to get my vertigo attacks (only without progressing to the world moving around me). I do need to agree fully, mixing medications is never a good idea without trained medical guidance... even with MIMS access, it would be incredibly wise to have guidance from someone who has spent years learning their craft.

Pretty much all my S/E's dissipated after the first 12 months.  (other than this stupid 5-7 lb. weight gain).  When I discussed it with my MO, she said they typically do lessen the longer you take it.

On it for three days now.  Either the weather has warmed up lots, or I can turn the heat down.  Is it possible instead of hot flashes I just feel generally warmer all the time?

  • ruthbru
    ruthbru Member Posts: 47,701

You could, I have a friend who is running around in sleeveless tops, and it is freezing cold around here!

Thanks, that's how I feel.  I actually asked a friend last night "Do you think it's too warm in here"?  "No!" she said.  And normally I would have the gas logs going.  I forgot about my new meds.  Hmmmm.....thanks Ruthbru

I definitely ditched all turtlenecks, heavy sweaters etc. and went with lighter weight, less binding clothes.

I get warm sometimes too. Just wish it would sync when I'm cold!! But then there are the power surges, never a good time for that!
