Good morning, Ladies! Woke up to -19°F (actual temperature) this morning and NO HEAT. 4-1/2 hours later the repairman is here, replacing my blower motor :(. Thank heavens for my little space heater. Poor kitty, who has been industriously licking off her fur for quite some time, is staying close to it. Doggie is keeping warm by her usual barking at every moving thing in the universe (bet you couldn't guess she's a terrier!!). To top off the morning, at 1AM the nursing home called that DH had fallen (probably trying to go to the bathroom). He had scraped his face but was all right otherwise. He has Parkinson's and is very prone to falling now. I feel bad for the home since there's nothing they can do to stop him if he decides he is going to get up and not ring for help (which he doesn't do about half the time). As soon as I can today I'll go visit him and see what's what. Not a stellar day.

Oh, Peggy--that's COLD! Maybe we should start calling you Anna, since you were truly Frozen, thanks to your bum furnace rather than thanks to your misguided and misgifted sister Elsa! Glad the repairman (was his name Kristoff, Sven, or Olaf by chance?) got there to restore heat and comfort to your life, Getting that dreaded middle-of-the-night call from the nursing home certainly was more than you needed to deal with right now. Glad your husband didn't break anything, but sorry you had the anxiety to deal with. I remember those calls from my mother's nursing home well --always knew that the mid-sleep ringing wasn't bringing good news. Hope your weather warms up a bit before you go visit him--even if your temp only goes up to where we started our day, at +! degree--actual, that would feel like a veritable heat wave to you, I'm sure. Trudi.

Trudi, Haven't seen Frozen but I *DO* know Harlan, KY, put out a warrant for Anna's arrest! Heat's back on now - with a new blower motor. The home is very good about calling when Chuck falls. Apparently those alarm pads that notify staff when a resident has gotten up (and shouldn't) aren't allowed by the State (what idiot came up with that rule?). And, to be honest, staff ignores those alarms anyway. There's not much anyone can do to stop DH when he wants to get up. He doesn't remember that he should use the call button when he's on auto-pilot. He is definitely a fall risk. That was one reason I wouldn't leave him alone for more than 15 minutes. My former boss' father had Parkinson's and he died, alone, from a fall. That's always in the back of my mind.

We are above zero now. Off to see DH. Thanks!

lane4, Thank you, that's probably right, though no one used the term "cavity shavings" with me. It sounds as if that's what my BS does. Additional margins aren't listed on my pathology report the same way as yours, but with each section there's a note about metal clips denoting the "true margin," so it's probably the same thing. I was definitely glad my margins were good, just a little confused about the terminology, I guess.

Those path reports are designed to be confusing for non-medical people. :(

Peggy, brrrrr. Here in south central PA it was a balmy 0 or so this morning, but with a wicked wind chill. I think we're topping out at about 15, at the most, but at least it's sunny and the wind has died down. Snowstorm predicted tomorrow. Some winter, right?

So glad your heat is up and running and that your husband wasn't badly injured. I hope you get a better night's sleep tonight!

When I had my surgery the BS told my husband he removed tissue a bit larger than a golf ball but smaller than a tennis ball. The tumor was in the 6:00 position. I have larger breasts DD and have a deep dimple on the underside of the left girl. With a bra on no one can tell.

Kay, Hubby was okay but quite loony. Sometimes he was "here" but others, way out there. Makes it challenging trying to keep up with his fantasy world.

We're to get snow but not enough to qualify as a snowstorm - 2-4" max "they" say. And even a bit warmer. So very nice having heat again! Dining out with my brother, coming home and doing nothing! HUGS. You stay warm too!!!!

Vickie, my lump was in the same spot as yours, Also have the magnificent, yoga-perfect, downward facing nipple to go with the dent. And, it doesn't show with a bra, which is quite amazing and I'm an A.

  • kayfry
    kayfry Member Posts: 334

Well, of course, I'm in that 6 o'clock club too, and also the left. But I'm more of the "barely A" style, like Peggy. Got the downward-facing nipple, check. Deep dent, check. Doesn't show with a bra, either, but I think if I wore some bras, it would. I'm in either a Coobie or a Handful bra (or a Genie, yeah, I stocked up to get me through rads and beyond), and with the little pad in the pocket, I'm good to go. Especially those Handful "lights out" pads, which are made with a little bump along the lower edge, almost like a very minimal push-up feature, not that there's much of anything there to push up! But they're perfect for giving me that little bit of roundness the lx took away.

Kay, Surprisingly, I still have a shape and I even seem "fuller" on top than my good girl. I now I regularly wear push up padded bras and I have "cleavage" - astonishing :)

  • kayfry
    kayfry Member Posts: 334

Haha, Peggy, my "cleavage" is now marked by a large amount of purple marker!!! (Just so no one misses it, I guessSmile) I might be a bit fuller on top (I keep wondering if I'm still slightly swollen, though), though it's a bit startling to look down at that "fullness" and not see the nipple! Sigh. I am very "attached" to those particular pads with the little extra fullness on the lower edges, because the underneath shape of the leftie girl is pretty much not there anymore. I bought some extra pads and put them in my other bras, too. Everything looks better if I just nudge it upwards, so the pads work, and minimal plastic surgery some day might do something, too. If I can stand the thought of having more surgery, that is.

Peggy....thanks goodness you had that space heater! So sorry about Hubby, no doubt that's startling to get a call a 1AM. Glad you've got your heat back...stay warm.

    pontiacpeggy Member Posts: 6,338

Thanks, Nash. I didn't have time to get startled with that call I was really out of it!

Kay, nothing subtle about your markings is there? Mine were 3 tiny dots - one on each side of my rib cage and one in the middle - all below my bra line. As I recall my mother had ink all over her but that was 30 years ago. I haven't worn my non-padded bras much yet. My camis have removable pads (Walmart, junior sizes, $6) and they are great. An extra layer of warmth. They are almost, not quite, but almost a shaper. I am a medium and got a large since junior sizes run small. Sometimes I wonder if I am still swollen after all this time; others, I really don't care :) HUGS!

Peggy...so did your mother also have BC? Just curious.

Peggy, the markings are in purple marker pen. I think maybe they'll be replaced by tats at my set-up appointment? But I really don't know, as no one has told me and I have barely spoken with my RO at this point. I can't imagine expecting these purple marks and stickers to last for 6 weeks, through the entire month of March, but I guess I'll find out on March 3! Luckily, it's the dead of a very cold winter, so I'm all bundled up and no one needs to see that I'm marked up like a coloring book! My only tat is so tiny that I really can't find it unless I look very hard. I do have markings on each side of my rib cage—purple marker and stickers—and a big mark right down the middle of my chest—which seem to correspond to what you had. Then the one tattoo just to the left of that on the upper part of my lx boob. Have no idea what they'll do with all that.

As I've said, I like these new soft bras with the little, light pads and no underwire. I always wore "lightly lined" Victoria's Secret bras with underwires for years and years, but I like these better now. I also ordered 2 of the Coobie camis, though I haven't worn one yet. I should be wearing them now, for warmth!

  • pontiacpeggy
    pontiacpeggy Member Posts: 6,338

Nash, my mother had lung cancer.

Kay, I haven't found a Vickie's bra I like in probably 10 years. I loved their Second Skin bras and have a ton of them. All the A cups, I've taken the underwire out. I have several in B cup that I put my "enhancers" in and I've left the underwires in those. I loved the colors. Vickie's seems to have abandoned the A cup for the most part - at least the last time I checked. And I've gotten cheap and buy from Kohl's - the really padded push up bras in their SO junior line.

Maybe they will tattoo you later but you'd think that they'd do all the tats at once. But then again, who knows???? Mine are really low - closer to the bottom of my rib cage. I thought they'd scatter them around my breast making a target or something :)

    Stay warm!

    kayfry Member Posts: 334

Peggy, I remember those "Second Skin" bras. The ones I have are mostly from the "Body by Victoria" line, and they are also at least several years old, because they discontinued the model I liked. I just kept wearing them and hoping they came up with another style that fit me before those wore out. I also generally try to find something in a racerback or some other configuration where the straps are set close enough together that the left one doesn't constantly slide off my separated shoulder, so that narrows down the options a lot. So true that Vicky's didn't have a lot for me, either, and I don't think I'll miss them.

The whole tattoo thing is a mystery to me. But it does seem to vary some from place to place. I'll find out soon enough, I guess.

You stay warm, too. May your heat work perfectly all night!

    pontiacpeggy Member Posts: 6,338

Kay, the really padded SO push-up bras come in racerback style and are really comfy. Well, not as much as our padded camis, but close! Wander in sometime and take a look at Kohl's. I think you'll be surprised.

It is 34° WARMER this morning than yesterday when my hands and nose were close to be authentic icicles. Being Michigan, it is not going to last. Back to the deep freeze by Monday. (And my heat is working perfectly!).

While I can't imagine getting a "real" tattoo, I do love being able to tell my oldest son, who is quite into them, that I have 3 tattoos :) And all will be revealed for you in a week!

    Have a wonderful weekend!

I hate being so stupid...but are you two talking about real ink and needle permanent tattoos? (I haven't read up on anything about Rads, yet). Did they hurt? UGH!...I've being stuck enough.

Kayfry, I visualize a big, purple marker, tic tack toe board on your chest.

Peggy, I see icicles hanging from your nose.

Everyone, keep safe and warm. Spring will come.

    kayfry Member Posts: 334

Hmmm. If I ever get anywhere near a Kohl's, I'll check it out. I see one that looks nice (online) but the sizes are s,m,l, etc. and I can't see any size guide there at all. I'm assuming "small," (what else would I be?), but hard to say. The nearest Kohl's is a good half hour away from where I live, longer in traffic. The downside of living in the semi-country.

It's snowing here today and right now it's about 15 degrees, so Michigan looks almost like the tropics, Peggy! Tomorrow is definitely supposed to be warmer—there's my day to ride Remy—but back to the deep freeze here on Monday, too. Ugh.

SweetHope, surprisingly enough, we are talking about real ink and needle permanent tattoos! Well, so far, I only have one, but most people who go through rads seem to get more, so I'm still in the dark about whether I'm in line for more of them or not. But not to worry, mine is so tiny that I honestly almost can't find it at all—really, I'm wondering if the RO and techs will be able to find it! And it didn't hurt at all, I swear. Just a dab of ink and a quick prick of a needle that I barely even felt. The point of them is so that you're positioned exactly the same for every treatment. Also, I guess, in case you ever need radiation in that area in the future, it's a permanent record of where you had it.

As for now, the way you're picturing me is just about exactly rightHappyI think I would rather have more tattoos than the marker/sticker/tic-tack-toe arrangement! Also, picture some icicles for my nose, too. This snow today is supposed to turn into rain and ice tonight—I'm hoping more rain than ice, since we had some wicked ice storms last year that knocked out people's power for at least a week and closed roads for much longer than that. We were lucky in that our power only was out for about a day, but our property has a lot of trees and it was quite a disaster, one we still haven't completely cleaned up a year later! Keep saying it, spring will come. Is it warm in New Orleans?

Sweethope. Yup. REAL ACTUAL TATTOOS! They are TINY!!! And there's just a pinch when they do them. No pretty design, just a dot. Don't give them a thought. Shots hurt more.

I did have icicles. It was awful. At least I had less than 5 hours of suffering without heat. Today much warmer (well, it is 17) so got my car washed. I couldn't stand to get near it it was so dirty.

Kay, here's one that I have. They have colors in the store. Linky These are real sizes. The sports and yoga bras just don't fit me.

Kay, lucky you getting rain and ice. That's worse than snow. (Although this year, everything is bad). We were to get 2-4" of snow but it went south of us - aiming right for you. Stay warm, safe and dry.

I had a lumpectomy and mine was caught early.  I had internal radiation.  Where the internal balloon was it left a large space.  It filled up with blood and tissue.  It does make it hard for them to get a good mammogram.  I get 3D and usually an ultra sound.  Last one was okay; however, due to all the blood, etc., they are going to give me another ultra sound in June.  They said if it looked okay they would just go back to do mammogram once a year.  Mine place really hurts and I do find myself stressing.  I lost a friend who was 46 and left a 7 year old little girl.  She fought a battle but lost it in December.

Claudia, no wonder you're stressing. How awful to lose your friend at such a young age. Is reconstructive surgery an option to get rid of the "stuff" that has collected in that "empty" space? And since it hurts, I think you might consider talking to your BS or other doctor about the pain. You shouldn't be in pain two years later, at least I don't think you should. I'm not. But I had external rads. Please talk to your docs! HUGS!!!!!

ClaudiaMetz...so sorry about your friend. I too lost a dear friend to BC. We had been friends for 48 years, since middle school.

I had the internal rad too and didn't know about the possible issue with site. Guess I'll find out at my next followup. So glad yours was caught early. So your lx area still hurts after 2 years. Did it just start hurting recently or has it hurt the entire time?

    Hello to all !

Central Jersey here enduring yet another snow storm.  Ugh!  Spring cannot come soon enough!

Bawling. Has anyone had an abnormal Birad 3 mammog?  Got one on the left GOOD side with ultrasound & mammog coming late  March.  The horrid cancer was on the right side...now I have this worry about the left side which also had 2 negative biopsies plus a cyst aspiration.  Anyone had this situation and what are the chances of problems on the left?  Really cannot go thru surgery and rads again...cancer surely messes with your head.

Hi , I also had internal radiation and it did hurt when I got a saroma, but after that was drained it felt much better and I ended up with a dent where the cancer had been and where they put in the balloon.  But it doesn't hurt anymore. Mine is at 12 oclock. I had some fat grafting to fill in the dent and will get it again when I am healed from my ovary/hernia surgery in March.

Peggy I also lost my mom to lung cancer. :(  6 yrs ago today.  Dad passed away 13 days before from they figure a heart attack in the public rest room when visiting her at the hosp as their 58th anniversary was the next day.  Memories.........

Its gonna be chillin tomorrow. 39 below with wind chill.  5 below is the high.. brrrrrrrr...

I hate it when the furnace decides to take a break in the middle of the winter.. NOT a fun time!!

NdGrrl, what an awful time you had with both of your parents passing so close together. How crushing!

We have another "warm" day - meaning the high will be in the 20s. Back to our deep freeze reality tonight and the next 10 days. This winter has not been fun. I want it to go away!!
