KD, my DH had Rigers when he was in septic shock. It lasted 45 min and later he felt like he'd been hit by a truck. I hope you dont have that left-over response.

Tonight I am singing at an outdoor memorial for the homeless in my county who have passed away this year. There were vets, so an ROTC guy from the local college will play taps. Sadly, four individuals were only known by first names.

Poodles, that's wonderful to remember the homeless and homeless vets who have passed. It is sad that no one knows their whole name, to honor their service. Sing like the angel you are. Taps makes me cry.

    HUGS!

I must have been in my own little world waiting for my CA125 test to come back, which came back negative for any suspicious proteins. If there was something directly mentioned about politics, it went right over my head. There seems to be a lot of controversial material out for public consumption right now, so it is hard to ignore no matter what side you are on. My concern is pre-existing conditions because it effects each and every one on this page. If that is taken off the table, all insurance companies will be mandated, whether a work policy or individual policy, to not cover pre-existing conditions. It is an all or nothing deal straight across the board. As a matter of fact, I had a conversation today with the Governor of my State regarding this - we shared sports seats this past winter. I will post a selfie that he took of us in January. I, for one, cannot afford to pay out of pocket for treatments or meds. My radiology bill alone, just for the tx was $55,000 for October. That does not include the doctor.

My surgery was yesterday and I have been doing great so far. My surgeon called tonight and said they got all the cancer from the breast and the 2 lymph noids were clear of cancer so she said go share the good news and relax this weekend. I am so thankful.

I know I'm new to this thread but I'm pretty upset by those who are trying to censor it. The initial "political" poster went out of her way to not bring up politics but to reassure us that her dismay was not related to other issues. There was no bashing. Why is it okay to express our emotional pain on all other aspects of our lives but not this one? I find it comforting that others here are feeling the way I do. The openness is why I was drawn to this particular thread and was following it long before I ever posted.

Yay! Yay! Yay! Vicki!!!!!! I'm so very happy for you!. We've been on the chemo journey together since August and it's such a relief to now that you're one MORE step closer to being finished. It's just such a relief not to have to wait for results again. Just keep ice handy and rest, even though you're doing great. Your body still has a lot of healing to do.

Michelle, congrats on your CA125 results. (I probably have known in the past, but chemo brain creeps in...) What is that test looking for? Is it a genetics mutation test?

Judy, we'll have to share pics of new cars, although mine will be done the old fashioned and much easier way for sure! I've been in enough car accidents to know your way is sure a tougher way. Once when I was about 17, I drove an old 1957 VW bug (the one with the little oval window in back.) I wore a "fall" (hairpiece that was long, just not a whole wig.) Anyway, I was parked at a stop light and was rear-ended by a sweet older man. Well, my fall went flying off. The poor man's view was limited because of the small rear window and he thought I'd been decapitated. He was so relieved when I got out, minus of course the long hair! Glad all is well with you post-accident.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday. It's supposed to be almost 90 here today! Our part of the country hasn't gotten the memo that it's Fall yet!

need some input from those who have had their surgery. I'm having surgery next Friday, just six days before Thanksgiving. Ordinarily we drive the day before Thanksgiving 3 1/2-4 hours to another state for several days of (large) family time, shopping, etc.

my surgery will be a 2 cm IDC lumpectomy with sentinel node biopsy. I don't know if I'll have a drain tube.

My sister and also my sis inlaw have offered to come here to spend Thanksgiving day. They will be giving up family time to be here. Sure do feel loved.

How did you do, say, five days following surgery. Does it sound like too much travel/party

Rita, I had a drain for two weeks so I would not have gone anywhere . You may be up for it but I would discuss with your surgeon . There's always risk of complications or infection .

Dara, CA125 is a test for ovarian cancer. My numbers are so low that my doctor wants to just give me a shot of Lupron to shut down ovaries and not remove them.

BagSharon, I am puzzled as well about the lack of concern over current state of large matters. As I said before, we all need to be aware of the pre-existing conditions ramifications. It effects each and every one of the US ladies. I am aware of what the ramifications are and am planning accordingly. I have one year to get my ducks in a row and have any necessary treatments/surgery and I am not wasting any time. I had the details of hc spelled out to me by my governor yesterday. It is quite alarming. BagSharon please message me when you get the chance and I will provide information as to where you can get information online about this situation.

Dara, I bet that really surprised him... Rita, several of us have had lumpectomies, and no drainage tubes needed.. there are others who can answer that better, but I just went home and just had to heal for the next step...

I don't get into politics... but I will say at this time in our country, no matter who you voted for... Just keep praying that God's will be done.

Rita, I wouldn't have been up to a 3-4hr drive five days after LX. My SNB site was pretty sore and my capacity for putting up with onconvenience was pretty low. Im usually laid back, but this whole BC experience just put my body into high alert for about a year.

Rita, I did not have drains. IIRC, I was still icing occasionally but not after a week I think. I took Tylenol when needed. I think you might be happier not travelling. For one thing, you need rest after this major surgery (and it certainly is) and I doubt you'll get that much with your trip. As hard as it is to cancel much-wanted plans, my recommendation is to stay home and have your sisters come visit.

    HUGS!

Rita, I also had lx and SNB without any drains. Your BS should be able to tell you if you will need one. 5 days later, I was feeling fine except for some discomfort from the node removal. I know everyone is different however. I'd be sure to ask your BS's opinion, and then just see how you're doing.

Rita, after my lumpectomy I was holding the seatbelt away from my chest for weeks. You can do that on short journeys, but after a while you're twisted in the seat and it's pretty uncomfortable. And I also didn't like driving over bumps which jolted my boob. And I needed to rearrange the pillows at night, it was hard to find a comfortable position to sleep in, so I was glad to be in my own bed.

Everyone is different, so you could be fine, but I would be wary of committing yourself till you see how you feel.

Let's see, in the past two years I have dealt with cancer, death of my grandchildren's other grandfather, sudden death of my ex-husband of a heart attack, death of my mother (had to take her off life support), and now my father is in the hospital with a massive infection and cellulitis that is life threatening.

Time for politics? Not so much.

Molly, with you all the way.

Teresa , my prayers are with you and your father. Like you life has been difficult . I prefer not to add fractured relationships to it with politics . I am here to give back what I was given when I came here scared and not knowing what to expect .

Teresa, keeping your father and you in my prayers. Way too much happening in your life.

Molly, don't you dare leave! We need you here. I've quit discussing politics though I agree that we all are anxious about any change to our health insurance and that should be discussed here. Love you.

    HUGS!

Miko-for some reason my profile still shows surgery as the 17th. I corrected it to the 18 awhile ago. Oh well. So you have the wire in one day and surgery the next? Haven't heard of that being done. I will have wire localization at one hospital, then go to another for surgery.
