Ya I am ok now, just very tired and sore. I think because they are non epileptic is the reason that they dont keep me, but my DH said that the nurse told him if I had not stopped when I did that they would have kept me.

Glad you're okay.  My niece has epilepsy and after her seizures she was always very very tired.  No surprise that you're sore.  You take care of yourself!  HUGS!

    Nancy,

Sorry yesterday was so difficult! I hope today is a much better day and that you feel stronger every passing day. I hope you aren't too sore; sometimes the discomfort is worse the day following surgery.

ncollett- that sucks! I understand the stress seizure connection (good stress and bad stress) my students have them often. but wow 10 min! I know with the students we have a 5 min limit before we call 911.. maybe cause you were already at the hospital they let it run its course? but geeze.. 10 min + re-incision .. poor body.. that took a toll for sure.. rest up... ice packs and movies..Im so sorry it was such a rough day :(

Finished up my rad yesterday! Yeah, yah hoo, whoop whoop! (Can you tell I'm excited!)  Went to a nice dinner with DH, Kids, 2 granddaughters and sis.   Got 2 nice flower bouquets, one from work is pink and soooo pretty!  DH is taking me to Bahamas in Feb 2015. Can't wait.  Time to heal now and get some normal skin hopefully.  I'll see MO on 9/22 and have to schedule a recheck with BS and then I do final followup with RO in 2 months and he said BS will follow me for on-going check ups and then I'll have annual mammograms (so this is what I was told yesterday.)  I did my final PT and LN massage. It was really great. If you can, do it. Well, have a great evening.

YEAH, Mari!  That's wonderful!  So glad you're done.  The Bahamas!  Please take me with you!  You'll heal in a flash.  How wonderful to get the bouquets.  A wonderful way to celebrate another milestone. Enjoy the evening!

    Nancy,

So sorry you had to go through all that! The re-excision is enough to deal with...are you feeling better? When will you know if they got clear margins this time? You sure don't want to go through that again! Thinking of you and hope you heal quickly.

mripp, congrats! Wonderful feeling, so good to see you smiling. On my last day, I wrote "BYE!" with a sharpie between the girls. I figured those techs drew on me everyday so I had to beat them to it my last day. Enjoy your trip     Smile

Mari, Congratulations! You look so happy in your picture! A trip to the Bahamas must add to your excitement.

Jo, I didn't think about writing a message to the techs... I think I will have to try that!

    Poppy,

The techs got a kick out of it. One of my usual team was working down the hall on another machine that day and the girls went and got him to see my message....then I was a bit embarrassed...but only for a minute. He had seen them for 32 days what was one more time?  :-)

Sorry you are still having seizures and are worn out. Hopefully you won't have any today and can just rest up.

ok, I thought I posted this already.  Im not very discussion board savy.  I go into surgery wednesday the 17th for a Lumpectomy with total nipple removal.  yuck.  I am a D cup so a week later the PS is scheduled to go in and reshape and lift the bad breast and reduce and lift the healthy breast to make a matching set so to speak.  ANyone else do this?  SN is set for the day of surgery so I still don't know if I will need chemo.  I hate not knowing.

Anyone with experience on this type of reconstruction?

What a busy schedule you have, Nitengirl1!  I'm in your pocket!!  Definitely yuck on the nipple removal.  Don't blame you for hating not knowing.  It's so hard.  I don't have any experience with reconstruction but I'm sure others do.  Keeping you in my thoughts.  HUGS!!

Pathology reports in today-left side clean margins (9 mm from tumor) nodes clear but some lymphatic vascular invasion. Still ER+ and PR+. Stage 1. Right side-HEr2+ tumor only .5 cent surrounded by DCIS. Total size=1.8cent. Clean margins (9 mm from tumor). No lymphatic spread or lymph node involvement. Stage 1. Stil need chemo, Herceptin and tamoxifen or other drug plus rads but I'll take this good news!!

April8, that's good news that the margins are clear.  Whew.  You'll get through the chemo and rads just fine.  You might want to update your treatment status.  Breathe for a bit now!  HUGS!!!

    Hi Everyone!

Sorry you had such a difficult time ncollett.   I wish there was something they could do to prevent them.   Take care and rest easy.

Wow, nitengirl you have a lot happening!  Best wishes for clear margins and speedy recovery from both procedures!

Good news April8!   Glad you had clean margins!

April, Clean margins, no chemo! Great news! So happy for you!

Nitengirl, I had a lumpectomy, sentinel node dissection with oncoplastic reconstruction on July 23rd. My nipples were spared. Only one surgery, but it was 4.5hrs long. I woke up with the cancer removed, and my breasts higher and smaller. The recovery has been slow, but it was a major undertaking. I have not lost sensitivity, and my incisions are very thin and healing well. Let me know if you have any specific concerns or questions.

    PoppyK,

What is oncoplastic reconstruction?  He doesn't want to do anything till the pathology comes back clear.

    Nitengirl,

Oncoplastic surgery is basically a combination of cancer surgery and plastic surgery. It can be done at the same time as the original operation, or later, such as after the pathology report is complete. It sounds like this is what you will be doing, too.

My surgery was done all at one time. The areas of concern were removed by the SO, while the PS started operating on the good side. When the SO was done, the PS rearranged the remaining tissue on the bad side and put me back together. When I woke up, I had smaller, higher, matching breasts.

    Hope this help you.

    PoppyK,

Thats sounds like what I'm having done except he doesnt want to start till the pathology comes back.  I guess it makes sense.  They decided you needed chemotherapy?  Was that based on your ocnotype?  They haven't decided yet with me.

Hey guys can I ask you a question?  Did anyone here have a lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy with only one incision?  I guess my tumor was close to the nodes (and of course it moved to the first one grrrr) so I only have one incision.  Just wondering if anybody else does?

    Nancy

Poppy, I am also grade 1 and doing chemo.  I have my last A/C (thank God) in a week and then I start taxol (weekly).

No seizures today just sleeping a lot! I cant believe how much this re-excision has taken out of me. They said this one was supposed to be easier.. Dont know about that one. I am way more tired and much more painful.

Sorry to hear that, Nancy.  Maybe something to do with all the seizures you've had.  It took all your reserves making it harder to tolerate the pain.  HUGS HUGS HUGS!!!

    Hi All -

I am scheduled for my lumpectomy (right side) on Sept 30th. On the Friday of Labor Day weekend, my biopsy results came back positive for Invasive Breast cancer stage. It is only a half a centimeter in size. On the day of surgery I will also be having a sentinel node dissection done where they will take between 1-3 nodes out. My surgical oncologist has already fairly much determined that the course of treatment will be surgery followed by 6 weeks of radiation, finally followed by oral chemotherapy (estrogen). I am no stranger to surgery, both inpatient and day surgery. Getting all the nuclear stuff shot into my breast is new though. My biggest area of concern is when it comes time for the radiation and the chemotherapy.

I keep hearing that after this type of surgery you are not supposed to have blood draws or blood pressure readings done on the operative side. Does anybody know why that is? Also, I have heard that after radiation therapy a certain amount of radiation remains in your body even after the treatment is done, Is it for life (remaIning radiation.)?

Prior to all this, I was tied up from March 31 until present with 2 fractured ankles. Actually I am still finishing my physical therapy from this and my last session will be on Sept. 22nd.  All this breast cancer stuff started kicking up on August 8th.

     Thanks for Listening,

Debby, The decision for chemo is because of my positive node. If the nodes were negative, then the Oncotype Dx would have been used to inform the decision.

Nancy2, Interesting that you only have one incision! Sounds like a plus to me. Positive node, a huge minus! Glad you are almost done with A/C.

Nancy, Glad the seizures have stopped! They must have taken a lot out of you! Hope your pain level improves and you can get some rest.

MarieBernice: Welcome to this group that no one wants to join, glad you found us. You'll be at risk for developing lymphedema after surgery, even with the removal of just 1 or 2 lymph nodes. You'll need to protect that arm from any type of trauma like sunburn, mosquito bites, no vaccinations, IV's or BP's on that arm. There are lymphedema topics you should read elsewhere on this site.

Your body does not become radiaoactive from the radiation, though the effects of the radiation continue after the treatment.

The nuclear stuff that's injected for removing the sentinel nodes wasn't as bad as it sounds

I'm confused about your oral chemo, did you mean an anti-estrogen med?
