in the bag for sandman
Yipee for JSJ! Yehaw. I could dance! Don't worry about anything. Take your time to get your strength back. Then you can try to eat better, exercise and get a physical. My vit d was low and that made a huge difference in the fatigue levels. But first you MUST nap and indulge and pamper.

HI JS and congrats. I just wanted to say hi. Have not met you but I am glad to. I wish you health and happiness from here on out. Dr z is always right., as you surely know by now. I agree that the fatigue does last, but generally each day gets a little better. In A month you will feel like a different person. ThEn the only way to go is up. Good luck to you :-)

I am glad all went well M. We are headed to Dallas this weekend to see my MDIL. She had her 2nd knee replacement surgery in December and it just hasn't gone like the first one did. She was back in New Years Eve to clean it out because it had gotten infected and a few stitches had ripped. They finally sent her for a 3rd opinion earlier this week as it had gotten even worse (she is diabetic BTW forgot to mention that). They went back in yesterday and got as much of the infection as they could and checked the hardware. Sailman is beside himself with worry, as if he hasn't worried enough the last year... sigh... They still don't know what type of infection it is but hopefully in a few days the cultures will tell their secrets and they can begin to proactively treat her with the right antibiotics. She is at the big Baylor Medical Center in Dallas which is a really good hospital. As the youngest and only boy,I can honestly say that Sailman is the epitome of a Mama's boy, but there is nothing wrong with that (speaking as daddy's girl). I am hoping to get caught up on everyone's lives while we are at the hospital sitting around. I have missed you all so!

lots of good restaurants and shopping over there js. I mean if you are just hanging about, you may as well shop some. There is an amazing Italian restaurant right by the hospital but I can't think of the name right now. It is on corner of Walnut Hill and Greenville Ave.

Hah.. DP jumping threads to promote shopping...who would of thunk it? Congrats to JSJ .. big woohoo for you. Hope they find the bug and get appropriate meds for DMIL's knee. That has got to be scary. A friend of mine had his second knee done a couple of months ago.. no infection, but he is still limping and says it doesn't feel quite right. Wonder where they're getting these dang parts from?

We have a Canadian friend that had a knee replacement and he always says they replaced his with a deer bone because every time he comes up to a fence he gets the urge to jump it!! Those Canucks are a fun bunch!!

On behalf of fellow Canucks I say Thank you...eh.

I went to the funeral for the cat volunteer this afternoon. High Anglican Requiem Mass - more church than I've seen in many years. At the reception afterwards, I discovered her cats had been there too. There were several super nice carriers and her cats were taken out one at a time and introduced to her friends. One of the members said she used to attend the 5pm service and bring her cats regularly. Evidently she had quit good jobs several times to go back to being a vet tech. I can attest the cats could feel her love. I really liked the priest saying her departed cats were in heaven with her.

Wren, sounds like it was a nice service for a wonderful person. She really loved the cats.0 -
Oh, Wren, that is so sweet. I am so glad the priest was kind like that.

Oh how thoughtful, imagine that.. taking your cat to church, never heard of such a thing, but what a great notion. I'm glad she was doing what she loved.. she sounds like a very special lady.

I must say -- Birdie's story of the priest and of her friend, and S's story of her neuro have really reaffirmed my faith in humanity for a little while. I don't always get that kind of treatment myself. I am going to focus on these positives. XXX

I can't imagine cats at church.
Glad SGC got someone who cares.
Whats the sneaky bday plans PRB?

OMG TIM TAMS!! I am on a diet.. I must resist. OMG TIM TAMS! Love, Love, Love. Wonder if they are as good.

Which reminds me.. M, when you come (it is not an if at this point), you must bring a carryon bag full of Tim Tams.. you'll just have to leave the foobmoire at home, along with your honking can of hairspray.

Dammit Zils, there is a target 2 miles down the road.. couldn't you keep it to yourself?

Operation surprise birthday cake is a go. I dropped her off earlier and now will drive back sometime tonight to deliver the goods. Almost was a no-go since friend's mom sent email this morning informing us parents that the intent was to take the girls to a huge mall 45 minutes from here. I was PISSED (hence the deleted post up above). Seriously, who waits until the morning to tell parents something as important as that? Was not a happy morning.. daughter upset cause I was thinking of keeping her home.. me upset at friend's mom. I finally caved when everyone else said their kids could go. Made sure dd had mall security's # in her phone, friend's mothers cell #, small map of 2 story mall showing bathrooms and major stores...and strict instructions that they are to stay together. Mom assured me she was going to be with them or very nearby and then sent a text that they had arrived. It's so hard to let them grow up...who the hell said this get's easier was lying! During a tense moment with DD this morning, she said defiantly (and this is so not like her).. "Well I'm going!". I said.. "OHHHH, you didn't just say that"... DD "I'm going!" me: "yeah.. well it's a pretty long walk to A's house (25 minutes away)." I don't think 13 is going to be a good year.
I haven't done much.. couple of loads of laundry, washed/gassed the car up, and since arriving home have been sitting on the couch doing nothing but eating Christmas kit-kats. Sleepover is 25 minutes away, so that will take up a big chunk of my kid free night. Still have to pick up cake and ice cream. Figured I'd pick it up tonight when Saturday shopping madness will be less (and flu germs less prevalent).
Glennie? I told DD she had a twin because your birthday was the same as hers. She replied "what does she look like?". I told her I had only seen half your face, but I was fairly certain you were not a 13 year old Asian girl!
I had a pretty wicked week...got called into some very high level meetings to help determine what our team had to do. Major wazoo at work with big o' chunk of computer storage not working and email barely crawling. Two major events possibly not related. Interesting to watch these highly paid managers weasel their way through this. I was looking at the big kids table (I was sitting against the wall in the corner) and thinking... well there's a million dollars sitting there and no one is doing any work. They are meeting 2 times a day and will continue this nonsense for who knows how long.
Yes, cancer is just everywhere. Old friend who left the university and moved away has been re-hired. She is in a diff. building than me, but messaged that we should get together. When trying to arrange days, she said she was available for all days except xxx because she has her first haircut since chemo. I didn't even ask if she had BC.. I just know. Oh yeah, and yesterday a co-worker told me he had prostate cancer. Cancer sucks.

Oh PRB, I know just how you were feeling, it is really hard to let them go to stuff like that. I hate parents deciding on such things without speaking to other parents first. You were so on the ball though, that whole phone security system is as good as having her own security guard with her!
I just scrolled through this thread and the big post I did last night isn't here. Not being a Church goer, I didn't find it strange to have my friend's dog lying by her casket at her funeral, but I was sort of surprised to hear about the cats, go figure. I think it is lovely, that they were included.
ldesim, I am looking at it being a when, not if, too, but I am sorry to have to break it to you, I travel with only a carry on bag, so it comes down to me, or the Tim Tams. There is nothing I hate more than standing in line waiting for bags on a carousel, so I travel really light, but if I buy lots of stuff, I will buy another bag and do the waiting at the other end, when I get home! Go to Target and get the TimTams, you know you want to! bahahahahah I have a theory, if you eat a whole pack in one day, that's fine, it is only fat making, if you eat a few every day for an extended period, don't ask me why, that's just the way I figure it!
Jsj, so sorry to hear about Sailman being so worried, I hope all is well, give him a hug from us, he's had a rough year of worrying. So glad you're here Jsj! Yay to you! I hope you have the best 2015.
Colin is doing well, looks better too after a couple of good nights sleep! Thank you for the kind thoughts, he feels very special to be thought of, by this great group! He's in awe of all of you! M x
